《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Seventy-six

I stared at the house, seemingly silent and unoccupied on the outside. Here goes nothing. Harry walked up to the door, gripping my wrist tightly and pulled me inside. "I'm back!" Harry announced, wiping his shoes on the rug, getting rid of the snow stuck underneath. Niall and Zayn came to view, each sporting a different look. Niall smiled warmly at me while Zayn looked angry. "What is she doing here Styles? Shouldn't you kill her yet?" Zayn questioned as he neared us.
I took a step back but Harry's grip on my wrist made it impossible for me to go that far. "Now, where's the fun in that? Shouldn't I kill her when the red moon is here?" Harry grinned sadistically, causing me to shiver in fright. Niall raised an eyebrow at him, "Harry, don't tell me you believe what Grace said."
"I made up my mind, Horan. The red moon is fast approaching and the last thing to do is kill this bitch so all of us could be human once more. No ifs or buts." I felt my heart stop once Grace came, placing a hand on Zayn's shoulder, eyes staring at me in fear. "Zayn, why is she here?"
"Don't worry love, Harry is going to kill her." This surprised her, "Really? So you guys believe me now?" Niall shook his head, staring at Grace in annoyance. "Don't count on me believing you." He grumbled before leaving us. Harry smirked and dragged me with him while they stared at me in displeasure. Reaching the second floor, Harry pushed me inside the bedroom, locking the door behind him. I looked down on my hand, rubbing the throbbing spot where Harry gripped tightly
"Two days."
I frowned, looking up to see his back facing me. "What do you mean by 'two days'?" Sighing deeply, Harry turned around from the window to face me. "Two days before the red moon." My eyes widen at his words, speechless over the statement. Two days, two fucking days, before the blood moon. Before Harry turns human, before the last Smith will be killed, and before the end. The end.
"Harry, now is not the time to make jokes." I laughed humorlessly, causing him to raise an eyebrow. "I'm not joking Lucinda, I thought you'd take my words seriously." Sitting down on the edge of the bed, I groaned. "Do you know how impossible it is to plan at this time? Two more days Harry and that blood moon is here. What if...What if we don't kill Grace at that time? What if she ran off?"
"Be serious Lucinda, why would she run off if she doesn't know our plan? Are you saying that she'll leave before the blood moon happens? Don't worry about that, I made them swore that they'll be there." He replied, running his hand through his hair as if to calm himself. "This time we can't afford to make mistakes. If we screw this up it's the end for all of us!"

"You mean only you, I am not included in this curse unlike you guys. If you must have forgotten, I am a regular human being." I pointed out, which made Harry shake his head. "And you must have forgotten, you're carrying something that is mine." I stop short, my hand landing on my stomach. How could I forget? Harry must have noticed my worrying to make him sit down next to me, placing an arm on my shoulders.
"The child will be safe."
"That's not what I'm worried about." I admitted, fighting back the feeling of Harry gently caressing my stomach. I never thought gentle is in his vocabulary that way he is. I guess these are the things that make Harry dangerous and fascinating. He's unpredictable. "Then why are you worried?"
"I'm worried that I may die." Harry sharply turn to look me in the eye, seriousness behind them. "And why would you die? Didn't I made it clear to you that I'm killing Grace and that to kill you is only an act? Don't you trust me on this?" Funny he'd talk about trust. As the old saying goes, 'Never trust a demon' I am positive that it is true.
"I don't know..." I trailed off once I felt his lips pressed against the nape of my neck. "It's my own offspring Lucinda, do you think I'll let anything happen to it? Especially now that the person I have feelings for is carrying it?" He whispered huskily, but the impact on what his words meant made my brain short circuit. "H-hold on, just a minute!" I panicked, pushing his head away.
Harry frowned deeply in irritation, but I didn't relent. "What do you mean by 'having feelings for'?" His eyes widen, clearly caught off guard. Just before he could answer, a knock broke us out of our staring. Gesturing for me to be quiet, Harry went to the door to answer it. "What is it?" He demanded, opening the door slightly. Standing up, I went to hide in the bathroom, knowing it's probably Zayn or Grace.
"What is it Horan?"
Oh, it's just Niall. Slightly opening the door, I stared at the two men standing in the middle of the room. "What do you want?" Harry questioned, eyeing the blond with cold eyes. Niall sighed deeply, "Before you start yelling, I just want to let you know that I am on your side. No matter what you choose, I'll support it even if it's against your will." What? Curiosity peaked, I leaned forward to hear better. Harry was even surprised.
"What do you mean by that? Are you suddenly feeling sorry for me?"
"Of course, I mean, you're being forced to kill the person you love. Isn't that painful?" What the heck is he talking about? My eyes widen at the sound of Harry laughing, it was the least expected reaction from what Niall just said. "Are you playing with me Horan? Are you serious about what you just said? Just to remind you, the only thing that's keeping us from becoming our normal selves is this woman running rampant around this earth! And now that we have found her you don't want me to kill her? Have you lost you mind?"

I mentally winced at his words, thankful that I'm not in Niall's place right now. "Don't you love Lucinda? Cause if you don't why didn't you kill her in the first place?" I watch fearfully to see Harry's face darken, eyes near black in anger."Have you lost your mind, Horan? What made you think I love Lucinda? Whoever told you is stupid! If that's all, you can leave now." Harry hissed, pointing towards the door. Begrudgingly, Niall walked out of the room with his head lowered.
I felt my stomach grumble in hunger, my hands instinctively falling on top of it, rubbing it gently. Licking my lips, I pushed the door open and walk to Harry's side. "Sorry if I'm causing you trouble with you friendship." I mumbled. Harry turned, my words catching his attention.
"He had it coming. How dare he ask me a question like that." Harry sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose before sitting down. "But he doesn't deserve to be yelled at Harry. I mean, he's only asking." I defended but Harry merely shook his head, not wanting to hear about the matter again. "Forget about it Mackenzie, we are not to discuss it again."
My stomach erupted in strange grumbling noises again, this time however it doesn't want to be ignored. A smirk made its way on Harry's lips, "Looks like somebody is hungry." I chuckled softly and nodded in affirmation. "Yeah, I guess I am." But what I was hungry for wasn't food at all, it was a strange call. A strange desire. I licked my lips once again, throat feeling parched as if I didn't drank water for weeks.
"But I'm actually thirsty." I whispered, leaning closer to Harry. He smelled delicious, irresistible. The scent knocking my commonsense but the fact is the thing wasn't visible to the eye. Yet. His hands landed on my hips before crawling up to my waist and settled there. I lowered my head to the nape of his neck and sank my teeth on the skin, wanting it to tear apart. Seeing this, Harry pushed me away gently. Uncertainness swimming in his eyes.
"I need to d-drink." I stammered, reaching for him once again. This time he let me, surrendering himself. Lifting his finger, Harry ran a sharp fingernail on his neck, creating a small gash on the skin. Black liquid gushed out of the wound, dripping down. The sight excited me, I thought I'm going crazy. "Is it alright?" I questioned, hovering my lips on the wound he made.
Harry silently nod and I didn't wait any further. His blood quenched my thirst, making me suck harder to get more fluid out, wanting to calm the beast inside me. Clutching me in the arm, Harry waited for me to be finished. The room silent, the only thing present was the soft sound of slurping created by me. It was strange. Alienated. Beyond the boarder crazy.
After a few moment later, I stopped. The hunger vanishing and the only thing left was the nasty after taste. I cringed in disgust, not believing what just happened. Harry laughed at my reaction, "And I thought you'd understand why. Lucinda, if you want to know why that just happened, let me fill you in. The baby inside you was hungry, that's all. You haven't eaten, am I right?"
My cheeks turned red in embarrassment as I wiped the blood stains off my chin and the corners of my lips. "R-right." Shaking his head, Harry placed a chaste kiss on my head before leaving the room with a small laugh. I stared at the door, dumbfounded. What just happened? Was that for real?
Flopping down the bed, I let out a groan. "What was I thinking?" I asked myself, the urge to scrub my tongue with a stone was high. Stupid girl, why did you do that? I sighed deeply, patting my stomach. "Next time you're eating food. Normal food. Human food." I elaborated, hoping the baby inside could hear. "If anything I thought is true, you could get human traits. I'll just hope that most of you is." Cause the last thing I need is to raise a demon child.
I was startled once the door opened, just to see Harry entering. Calming my nerves, I stood up and took the glass of water he held out. "Thanks." I muttered, downing the fluid, thankful that it'll wash the after taste. "We should get rid of Grace fast." I cocked an eyebrow, "What? Why? Did you found out something?"
"Sonya texted me. I let her investigate on Grace's family background and she found that Grace is an orphan. She moved out of her adoptive parents at the age of seventeen and wandered around. Her biological parents are linked to the Smiths." He relayed softly, pacing around. "If I don't kill her, she might run off and I won't be my normal self again."
"Harry, do you really want to be human again?"
He sharply turned, giving me a questioning look. "Of course, why would you say that? I thought I already told you? Do you want to live like this forever? Knowing that you're a monster? You might have forgotten but I am tied down. I wouldn't get my freedom back if I failed. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?" I merely nod, scared that he may burst out in anger again. Harry rubbed his face in frustration, sighing for probably the thousandth time of today.
"When the red moon is here I'm going to kill her. No questions asked. If Zayn or anyone prevents me on doing so, I have to kill them. Friend or foe." His eyes bore holes in my head causing me to shift uneasily at the intensity of his gaze. "W-what's the matter, Harry?"
"Tell me honestly, Lucinda. Do you love me?"

MANTIS: On Hiatus

After many years apart, Rihelah was on her way to see Michael, hoping to rekindle their friendship on the day they would both lose their lives. The pair are unwittingly selected to represent Earth in a test set forth by godlike beings who are intrigued that our world gave rise to complex life without having been intentionally seeded by their kind. Michael and Rihelah are reincarnated as predatory insects upon a distant planet called Edon. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and their kin, Goblins, Ogres, Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and sapient arthropods known as Enkelyn all inhabit this beautiful world touched by magic. The tiny mantids must survive terrified and very much alone upon arrival, while neither is aware that the other has also been reincarnated upon the same island. Naked in their new chitinous exoskeletons, they must now brave the terrors of an alien world's food chain. Each will benefit from their years of experience on Earth, but they must somehow find a balance between old lives and new. Moderate mindsets and peaceful values from a mostly safe and privileged life on Earth must now contend and somehow coexist with the strange physiology of a new and unfamiliar body as well as the violent aggressiveness of a predator's mind. To top things off, the pair are about to find themselves struggling with their inner turmoil while swept up by terrible conflicts they know nothing about. Both endure the hardships of their new lives while attempting to understand and make proper use of a mysterious and terse video-game-like System that pops status notifications into their vision from time to time, but initially has no useful interface. Some of the options they are presented with sound enticing, but as with everything else in life, each choice has benefits and drawbacks... Author's Note: This story makes many changes to the original version, and readers of Mantid will find that many things in Mantis are new and different; especially after the first few chapters. I've learned a ton from writing like a madman, and also from the RR community. I appreciate you guys! :)

It's based on the medieval and steam era where magic is rare and alchemy is used widely used as a weapon by people. There would be lots of action, adventure, betrayal, tragedy, romance, etc. ahead. Warnings-The mc is a bit mean and foul-mouthed, introvert. There would be strong language and lots of monologue narration by the MC. The stories are fast-paced and progressing faster. The chapters update would be unstable, depending on my daily life. You would get fast updates... or slow. Also, English isn't my first language. So don't expect perfect grammar :( P.S. - I would like some constructive critique and feedback! It fills my motivation gauge and increases that rate of chapter/week. (/>3
