《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Sixty-seven

Hoisting me up from the floor, I hissed at the pain shooting up my leg as he held me to his chest. Am I not heavy? The calm face he had on didn't falter, suggesting that I only weighted like a feather to him, I wrapped my arms around his neck when he walked out of the cell. Glancing at the dead carcass that Harry killed a few seconds earlier, I winced and shut my eyes. He scoffed and shook his head, "Let's just get out of here."
My heart stopped for a second when the metal door in front of us opened to reveal Felix and several nurses, all sporting shocked faces. "H-how?" Felix stammered, gaze shifting between me and Harry. In a blink of an eye, both of us were standing outside, I looked back to see them all lying on the floor. Blood pooling beside their bodies.
Just as another wave of nurses and guards followed, thick black smoke enveloped the both of us. Before I knew it, we were standing in front of the mansion. My breaths were coming out in puffs of smoke as the cold winter air blew against us. The forest looking mysterious and dangerous in the dark. Only the full moon giving light in the pit of darkness. Harry began to walk towards the front door, boots crushing the snow. I began to see stars the moment we stepped inside, I heard Grace gasp in shock, probably by my state at the moment.
"She's freezing, we better cure these wounds. Where did she get it Harry? Who did this to her? Did they torture her?"
Harry didn't answer and continued to pass by like they were nothing. Rushing up the stairs, I looked around to see that we were heading to the bedroom. The door opened itself and Harry went inside, setting me down on the bed. The room was dark and cold, the curtains pulled away, letting the moonlight stream inside. I groaned in pain, the only thing on my mind is how on earth I'm going to get rid of the pain from my leg.
"Shh..." He hushed me, brushing back my hair away from my face as he stared at me, like he was concerned. "Those wounds of yours looks deep, so stop moving so much." Harry reprimanded, taking a hold of my hands away from my leg.
"Easy for you to say," I breathed, squinting in pain, "You're not the one experiencing it." He shook his head, staring at me.
"I've been through much worst."

I stopped short, analyzing his words as he took out a small towel and rolled it, pushing it to my face. "Bite this." I did, curious as to why he wanted me to. That's when his hands made contact with my wounds that I cried aloud in pain, kicking his hands away. The towel fell off my mouth, hissing. "Be still, this isn't easy!"
I grumbled under my breath at his complaints. "Isn't easy? Let me claw your legs out and tell me that it is-Ow!" I closed my eyes, the pain was like acid burning your skin, you feel like your skin is melting away. The next thing I knew, it was over. Just like ripping off a bandaid. I took a few breaths in, relief that the pain subsided.
I look up to see Harry staring at me with hooded eyes before turning his back on me. He paced the room for ten seconds, I just stared at him when turn to face me. "If I didn't get you out of there in time, what would've happened to you?"
"Dead." I simply answered in a soft voice. He shook his head slightly and looked away, as if staring at me was sinful. Breathing in, I sighed, "Thank you for saving me, but why? Why did you save me when you were finally close to seeing me die?"
The room was silent, except for the sound of my breathing. Harry sharply turned around, green eyes bright even in the dark. He looked furious, dangerous, ready to murder anybody. It made me feel fear. "Save you? If I didn't Lucinda, do you think you'll be here talking to me right now?"
"Yes I am aware of that, but why? Why do you keep saving me and hurting me all over again?" I questioned, mad that he wouldn't answer directly. In a blink of an eye, he was already straddling me. I couldn't believe my eyes that he is so close to me, forest green against burning brown. If it weren't a serious situation, I'll push him off of me and demand why he did it, but right now I was speechless.
"The reason why I need you alive is because..."
"Because I look like her? Because you can't kill a woman who is the exact image of her?" He stopped short, eyes wide in shock. "What? What did you say?" I sighed, fingers brushing on the soft material of the blanket. "I saw the pictures. Pictures of Mertil and her sister, you apparently know Josephine."

"Pictures? What pictures?"
"I found it inside this wooden box with her initials carved on it. My dad was about to throw it out, but I didn't agree, thinking that it was something important to the original owner and he or she might want it back. When I opened it, I read Josephine's diary and saw pictures of her and her sister, Mertil."
"Where is the box now? Where is Josephine's diary and the pictures?" He demanded, stalking towards me in long steps. "At my house, but I think my parents would've thrown in out by now." I mumbled, lowering my gaze at my hands. "The picture of Mertil and Josephine is in the pocket of my jeans, which is currently at the police station."
"They caught you? And why did you end up in a mental institution instead at the prison?"
"I tried to explain to them, how I ended up burning half of the neighborhood at the fourth of July. And how Randy ended up getting killed, I told then I defended myself from him. They too found his body at the outskirts of town, where I buried him."
"I know where you buried him. I saw you placing him in a wheel barrow." I narrowed my eyes at him when I looked up, "Just how long were you watching me since you left me in the woods?"
"I never left you. I was just around, observing you. You don't remember the times you thought you were dreaming when you saw me? How real it felt when I touched and talked to you?"
"But I thought they were just drea-"
"Yes, you thought. But they were real."
I closed my eyes, feeling exhausted after today's events. "I thought escaping you was a good idea. I didn't mind the consequences if you find me, as long as I would be able to go back home and get out of this town." Wiping a tear that rolled down my cheeks, I bit my lip. "In one day, I just realised that my mother doesn't really care about me as I have thought. I should've known it from the start that she didn't, but I guess I just couldn't convince myself to believe that illusion that she cared about me anymore."
Harry sat down on the the edge of the bed, the side dipping down. A tear rolled down my cheeks, then some more followed. All falling to the palms of my hand. "My mom, dad, Randy, Ruby, and Ben. They all left me, thinking that I'm a monster. I'm not a good daughter, or friend. I have nowhere to go. I'm on my own now." I stare up to meet his gaze, this made him look at me in surprise. "I'm just like you now."
At the sudden realization at my words, I broke down. Clutching the bedsheets tightly, I closed my eyes and cried softly, refusing to sob out. The last thing I expected was comfort from a person who is beyond reach, especially when it comes to things like these. Cold huge arms wrapped around my small figure, tucking my head under his chin, Harry ran his hands on my arm, in an effort to make me stop crying.
"No, you're not like me. You are not going to be like me."
"What would you say if I already am? I killed Randy, I burned down those houses. I made everybody's lives miserable."
"Those things that you did are not as bad as what I did."
"And since when did you care about me Harry? Tell me, since when did you care about another person other than yourself?" He stiffened at my words, but didn't say a word. He just held me in his arms as I soaked his pale skin with my tears. "You deserve another chance baby, not like me. You can still be saved."
"And who will save me, from you?"
"I can."
I hiccupped, blinking at him with wide eyes. "W-what? I don't understand you Harry, what are you saying?" He sighed, running his hand through my hair, lips tightly sealed. When he said nothing, I closed my eyes, exhausted. Leaning to Harry, I slowly drifted to sleep, unable to fight back the tiredness.
That's when I felt cold lips being pressed against mine. I opened my eyes with a start and stared at Harry who locked lips with me. His green eyes as if staring at my soul, were glowing. The other side of his face was blanketed by the darkness, while the soft glow of the moonlight made the other clear to my eyes.
"I can't explain anything to you, but as of right now...All I really need is for you to be here. At my side. I need your help."
"M-my help?" He nodded and pressed his lips against my neck. My body shivered at the coldness of his lips as he began to pepper open-mouthed kisses. Eyes rolling back, I let out a soft mewl.
Looks like it's going to be a long night.
