《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Forty-six

•Chapter Forty-six•
I sighed as I continue to listen mom and dad complimenting this school we're driving to. All that I am hearing is 'this school, that school' and it's annoying the hell out of me already. It's like, they're going to this school and not me. I shut my eyes close, it wasn't my choice to go and live here in Silent Mound. Now, it's not my choice to go to this school either. I have no rights to complain since they'll be paying for it and not me. It's also my fault why we can't leave here. The police are still on the look out for the culprit who burned down the houses, which was my mistake. It wasn't my plan to burn down those houses and endanger innocent people with my problems.
What's more, if they find out that I murdered Randy, then things will be come more complicated than ever. From now on, I better watch my back. When the car came to a stop, I knew we have arrived. "Nigel, help her!" Mom hissed when I can't open the door. "Yes, Louisa. I'm going to." Dad replies, getting out of the car to help me open the door. "Thanks dad," I mumbled once my feet touched the solid ground, wind blowing on my face.
"No problem Luc," dad mumbles, "Look, I know you don't want to finish your highschool here, but we have no choice. When the authorities say that we stay, we stay." I nodded, "I understand dad, I know. We can't leave because they haven't caught the criminal," I spoke. We can't leave because they haven't put me behind bars yet.
The idea of being in jail is scaring me every time I think of it. I mean, who isn't afraid to go to jail and be marked a criminal? "Lucy, I would give anything for us to be back home. Where we belong, but we can't. So all that we have to do now, is live here until they catch the criminal, you okay with that?" Dad asks.
No. Absolutely not. "Yes, yes dad." I answered, even though it was hard to. I would do anything, so that I won't let my father down. "Nigel, shall we go inside?" Mom suggest and dad agrees. I was about to walk on my own, when mom grabs my hand as if I'm a little kid who would get lost in a huge supermarket. "Mom, I am 17 not 10." I mumbled softly under my breath, hoping she wouldn't hear.

"I know that, but you might hit a pole." She replies in a whisper, which means she heard what I said. I can hear leaves rustling, and a few people talking. That is when the sunlight disappeared, we must've entered a building. The atmosphere became a bit noisy, and warm. "Hello, how can I help you?" A female voice ask with such professionalism.
"Uh, yes. I want to enroll my daughter here, she's 17 and-" My mom was cut off by the same female voice. "Yes, she'll be in the senior high. Hello Lucinda." Mom must have been shock since she became speechless, even I. How could she, a complete stranger, now I'm going to senior high and my name?
"H-how did you know our daughter?" Dad asks in complete shock and confusion. I can feel the woman smiling, "Oh, I heard the a lot about her. Being missing for three days, she's famous." Is this woman serious? "Oh, so you heard about that?" Mom questions, "Okay, so can we enroll her here?" The woman laughed, before clearing her throat. "Follow me."
We followed the mysterious woman until she asked us to stop, before I heard knocking. "Come in!" A huge voice yelled before hearing a door opening. "He'll see you now." The woman spoke before we entered the room. "Hello Sir, we want to enroll our daughter here," dad uttered straight to the point. Complete silence followed afterwards, making me a bit uncomfortable. What's taking so long for the man to answer?
"Well, well, well," the same man spoke in a deep voice, "If it isn't the famous girl who went missing a two weeks ago. Hello, Miss Mackenzie." My mouth went a bit dry, I licked my lips before speaking, "Hello." I mumbled. Mom squeezed my hand slightly, signaling it's her turn to talk. I just mentally roll my eyes.
"Sir, um, we want to enroll our daughter." Mom said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Oh, is that so? Why didn't you say so? Did you bring the requirements needed for registration?" The man asks, and this time I leave the conversation on the hands of my parents. Dad asked me to just sit down on a chair he gave me. "I suggest you listen to music while you wait. This is going to take awhile." Dad said, handing me what seems like to be a headset and a phone.

"Here, I picked this one out already for you," he places the headset on me and played a song. It was 'Sugar' and it was played by a band, but I forgot their name. Wait, how did dad know I listen to these kinds of music? One word, awkward.
I don't wanna be needing your love. I just wanna be deep in your love, and it's killing me when you're away.
I was half way through the music when I heard an argument, I felt around the phone to search for the volume keys. I finally found them, and turn the music down. "What do you mean she can't see properly? What happened to her?" The same loud voiced man asked. "She has glaucoma Sir, and we don't know if it'll heal directly." Mom answered calmly, "She can't even read-"
"She can't read?! Then why are you enrolling her then? She should be at home, having some rest 'till her eye sight is back." Even though I already dislike the man, I agree with him on this one. "But Sir, we thought you have special teaching for blind kids?"
The man sighed, "We do have, but she isn't blind. I don't know how it is to have glaucoma, but if you're desperate for her to finish school, then enroll her." No, I don't want to be enrolled. I don't care if I'll be one year behind, I just don't want to school here. "Sure Sir, we'll take the special teaching." Mom spoke. No.
"Okay, then it's final. We'll just have a short interview with our new student." The man agreed, "Just tell her." It didn't take long for someone to tap my shoulder and remove the headset. "You're going to be interviewed," mom uttered, "Now, don't blow this one Lucinda."
"Why didn't you tell me that you're so desperate to put me in school?" I questioned, and mom sighed. "Let's talk about this later, okay?" Bitch. I didn't reply and just let her lead me to the interviewer, who happens to be the woman earlier. The interview was just composed of me answering what my name was and how old I was. But, why should they still ask when my basic information is practically described on television the day I went missing?
When the interview was closed, I almost sighed in pure relief. Almost, when the woman started to talk. If she were a vegetable, I would absolutely not eat her. Cause she's a cabbitch. If you know what I mean. "So Lucinda, how's your stay here in Silent Mound?" Oh, it's fine. I usually get death threats from a demon named Harry Styles, and that he kissed me, saying I look like his dead ex-girlfriend. I killed my only boyfriend, who was secretly insane. Oh! And I just found out that my mom is so desperate to put me in this school, and I wonder why. Probably because she wants me out of her stupid life. Yeah, everything is great.
"Okay." I answered, okay wasn't even close to my real answer. "That's good to hear Lucinda, hope you like your first day here next week." Seriously? "Thanks," I smiled before dad called my name, "Lucy! We're leaving."
"Goodbye, um..."
"Miss Roberts." The woman spoke, now I know her name. "Goodbye then, Miss Roberts." I gave her a short nod before dad grab my hand and leads me out of the room.

Cardinal of Sin
They say sin comes at a horrible price. Or...perhaps I'm misremembering the saying. Regardless, I'm usually inclined to agree with the aforementioned statement. When one is held hostage by their own carnal instincts; never being able to fully control their primitive impulses...Well, let's just say, it would destroy a lesser man. That, I know. I died because of my lack of self-control, after all. I must admit, though. I didn't expect to change this belief of mine after meeting my end, but here I am. Breathing. In a world I don't belong; a world of magic. Here I am, whisked into another reality with the power to sin. To conquer.

[unedited/discontinued] I thought the unimaginable only existed in fairy tales, and stupid redundant television shows. I never knew how wrong I was.
