《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Thirty-three

"Is this even edible?!" I shouted at Harry who was climbing the tall tree with fruits like a professional. He was like climbing without any difficulty, he just jumped, got ahold of a branch and climbed higher.
Is he a rock climber before he turned into a house demon?
"Of course it is!" He yelled back, picking a fruit before making it fall onto my hands. I took a bite of the fruit, which was juicy and yummy. Harry got down in an instant, jumping off the tree and I marveled about him not getting hurt after a long jump.
The tree was about sixteen feet tall, and that jump would've killed me with a heartbeat.
He looked at me as I bit the fruit, and I smiled, "It's delicious, thank you." He just nods a 'you're welcome' and I threw the eaten fruit away.
"Let's go." He speaks, and we started our journey back to the city.
We walked for a few hours, the sun beaming at our backs, the atmosphere warm and sweat began dripping down my head. Worst of all, my feet are tired, and I think I need a bath.
"Harry, how much longer are we going to get there?" I ask, groaning a bit when my foot collided with a broken branch that maybe fell off the tree.
"A few more hours, we'll get there around six." He answers, and stops walking when he noticed I flopped down on the ground from exhaustion.
"I'm tired, hungry, and I need a bath!" I complained, running my hand through my hair, my fingers getting tangled.
"There's a small falls over there," He pointed to the right, and I can hear faint rushing of water. "And I can go hunt some food for you, so why don't we rest for awhile?"
"Yeah!" I cheered happily and running to the direction where Harry pointed. I walked pass him, hearing his footsteps behind me, he guided me the way. The smell of wet Earth and the sound of rushing water met me.

We walked through a narrow path, until I saw the waterfalls.
I was awed at the place, crystal water was flowing and the place was beautiful. The waterfalls was something you don't see everyday, unless you live in an island or something. I dipped my hand into the water, testing the temperature. It was kinda cold, but good for a hot weather.
I turn around to face nobody, Harry must've left to haunt for my food, and I took the oppurtunity to strip all of my clothes.
I jump into the cooling water and swam near the waterfalls, the feeling of rushing water on my back was heavenly. I swam deeper, knowing it was just around ten feet.
I swam to the surface to breathe, that was when I saw Harry behind me, still on his clothes, holding a few apples and two dead ducks.
I gasp and cover my breast with my hands. "H-Harry! I didn't k-know you were there!" I stammered, cheeks turning red in an instant, but he doesn't seem to be bothered. His eyes although, speaks a different feeling.
"I didn't even know you were taking a bath." He counters back.
"Can you, turn around?" I ask, it was kinda embarrassing, asking a demon to turn so you could change back to your clothes, but he didn't hesitate to turn his back.
I went to the edge, climbed out and put on my clothes as fast as I can, but Harry seem not to be in a hurry. I was already drying my hair when I asked him to face me again.
"Sorry you had to, see that." I flushed, and mentally face palm myself.
He just nods and gives the fruits to me. We sat down on dry rocks, and ate our lunch. I tried hard to ignore Harry eating his lunch without table manners, all that bone crushing, and nosily sipping sounds.
It was horrible, and gross at the same time.

After our 'lunch', we started to continue our journey again, we pass by a few trees, small streams and even rivers. The night, was also falling fast, the sky turning from sky blue to that orange and violet sky, a few stars appearing.
"After we pass by this last waterfalls, we would end up in front of a highway." Harry explains, me walking behind him.
I was kinda getting bored, so I try to start a converstation. "Did you regret killing those people?"
He stopped on his tracks, and it made me alarmed. Was it kinda, personal? After waiting for a few minutes, I heard him sigh.
"A bit." He admits.
"What was Mertil like?" I question and he turns around, his green eyes looking at me, staring at me hard.
"She...She was, kind. Funny." He tries to remember, "Beautiful to be exact." He smiles, it was the first time I saw him smile, literally. It was kinda shocking.
"She was everything you could ask for in a girl?"
He nods solemnly, "She was my everything." He frowns suddenly, "But he didn't believe me."
I raised an eye brow, "Who didn't believe you?" I can't help feeling curious as to why would anyone doupt his love for her?
"Her father."
"Who was her father? Who was he?"
He inhales sharply, "No, it's too much to remember." He snaps and begins to walk away. I sigh and followed him, the river was now in sight.
We have to walk on rocks to cross the waterfalls, which was kinda suicide, because the water was rushing very fast, but that was exactly what we did. Harry walked first, making sure not to fall into the water and be carried by the current to a fatal fall on God knows what.
I, for one, am a very clumsy woman. I was about to slip but Harry caught my arm.
"Be careful." He hisses and I nodded, when he turned his back to continue to cross, I rolled my eyes at him.
Harry finally reached the other side, waiting for me, well, he was impatiently tapping his foot, so I guess he's not happy waiting.
One more stone, and I'm safetly on the other side. I stepped on the stone, but it was kinda slippery, making me fall forward, losing my balance.
I screamed, seeing what was below, the water fall onto sharp jagged rocks below, before I was yanked and my feet touched the Earth.
My thoughts were jumbled, feeling ons hand on my shoulder and one tightly around my waist.
"What the hell?! What the fuck were you thinking?! You could've died Lucinda!" He roares, eyes dark and breath ragged.
I was pulled back to Earth, now clear that I am standing so closs to Harry, last time we were this close, it didn't end well, for me of course.
"Lucinda! Fuck, are you hurt?!"
I shook my head, looking staright into his eyes that were gradually turning green again. I just noticed my hands were gripping his shoulders tightly, still shocked at the turn of events.
"I'm f-fine." I stammered, and he sighs deeply. His hand touching, caressing my cheek, which were wet due to the tears that I didn't know were falling.
"If you have fallen. I didn't grab you in time, the thought of it-" He closes his eyes, trying to maintain his composure.
"I'm alright, it was my fault." I spoke, his eyes shot open, eyes were dark, but they weren't black, they were dark green.
"To me, you aren't." He growls.
Before I knew it....
His lips were against mine.

The Werewolf Cheerleader
Being a cheerleader is easier than being a werewolf. Jessica Tumbleleague is a typical teenage girl who loves being a cheerleader at Moondale High. But after an encounter with a werewolf in the woods, Jessica discovers a frightening world she never thought is real. Dangerous magic, deadly fierce spirits, and other malevolent creatures. Now Jessica must fight the forces of darkness to protect her hometown while balancing her supernatural life with her high school life. But can she control the beast within herself? Note: This is a rewrite of the original with the same name. I decided to change the third-person style to first-person because I liked Jessica's voice better. She is funny and very strong. With the story only focusing on her, I can keep the mystery suspenseful and the reader can experience what Jessica is experiencing. It is a typical YA style, but it is fun to write as your main character. There are changes, but the first and second books will be similar to the third-person chapters. Let me know what you think and I hope you will enjoy this new version of the Werewolf Cheerleader. I will post the chapters every Friday in the afternoon. P.S, there is a Werewolf Cheerleader short story published in the Tales of Dungeons, All Hallows book. Titled The Werewolf Cheerleader: Castle and Ghouls. The short is also in first-person, which made me decide to change the book series into first-person. The link is below if you want to check it out. https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B08MCS82R5
