《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Nine

My heart is probably beating like a drum right now as everything went in slow motion. I felt his cold hand running down my neck, his index finger grazing the vein in my neck.
I was holding my breath, while Ruby just sat there, frozen on her seat, gripping on the steering wheel tightly. I closed my eyes when I felt him breathing next to my ear.
"Come back to the house right now Lucinda." He whispered with a hiss. "If you don't... There will be a hell lot to pay."
I felt fear, pure fear, running through my body and streaming through my veins right now.
What's going to happen to us if I don't obey him? Will he kill Ruby? I won't let that happen!
Then, at the corner of my eye, I saw Ruby's feet slowly reaching for the pedal.
I silently prayed she will, I turned around to face him. His eyes were darker and filled with hatred. I can feel the it radiating through out him. Hatred and anger.
No, I'm not letting you win this time!
I smirked. "Never." I spatted at him. "Now!" I yelled at the girl beside me and Ruby hit the pedal. The speed of the car increased, making him disappear right away. His body went through the car.
Well, that was weird.
Ruby was driving insane, she turned a few curves, avoiding on incoming cars, until we were near the sign that says:
I was screaming in joy, ecstatic that we were leaving. Ruby was laughing hard and I joined in. That was when the car went out of control, both of us screamed in fright. "W-what's happening?!" I demanded in a panicking voice. She shook her head frantically.
"I don't know! I can't control the car!" She yelled back and then the world started to spin. The car's tire left the ground, and began spinning round and round.

Until it all stopped and I lost my hearing. Everything was pitch black.
"Help them officer!"
"Their bodies are stuck! And this car is about to explode!"
"Somebody call an ambulance!"
"They're heading this way! But quickly! Pull their bodies out of the car!"
I felt someone grab my painful arm, but I didn't wince or cry out in anguish. In fact, I can't do anything at all. The pain, it was the only thing that is present in me right now.
My body felt numb—almost paralyzed—I felt like I was losing a lot of blood. Probably buckets of it.
"My baby! My baby!"
Mom? Is that you?
"Stay away from here, Ma'am! This car's about to explode!" A manly voice shouted at her in warning. I can hear the loud wailing sounds of sirens.
Ruby, what happened to Ruby?! What happened to her? Is she alright? Somebody, please answer me!
My body left the ground, like floating on air, until I landed on a soft but firm surface. It must be the stretcher.
Something was attached to my nose, air entering my nostrils, making me breath properly.
Mom... I want my mom! Mom, where are you?!
"Get her quickly to the hospital! She's losing too much blood!" Someone shouted. A hand gripped mine.
"Who are you, Ma'am?"
"I'm her mother." My mom answered tearfully, all the while gripping my hand, telling me to not let go. I heard doors being slammed shut and soon, I was swaying side to side. I am quite sure I am inside the ambulance right now.
I suddenly had energy to open my eyes, but my sight was a bit blurry. My throat seem parched, it felt scratchy and I wanted water. My dry lips parted. "M-mom?"

"Lucinda! Oh, darling, what happened to you?!" I heard my mom asked, but my eyes felt like closing again.
"Mom..." I mumbled softly, almost a whisper. I was losing myself again, losing the light.
"Don't close your eyes Lucinda! We'll make it to the hospital, just hang in there!" My mom cried out to me as I fell back to the void of darkness.
"Will she be okay, Doc?" I heard someone asked. I realized in one second that it's my mom. I inwardly groan in pain, my back aching.
"Yes, she'll be alright. She just lost a lot of blood. But we made sure to give her some, since her body won't function well." The doctor answered. "After a few days, of rest and proper nutrition, she'll be back to her healthy self."
"Thank you, Doc." Mom mumbled. The door clicked shut and the room fell into total silence.
I felt a hand touching my cheek, it was cold. Someone's cold breath fanned my ear, making goosebumps rise.
"Get well soon love, can't wait to punish you."
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
I fluttered my eyes open, blurry at the start, the lights blinding my eye sight. After trying to adjust at the harsh lighting, my eyes finally got used to it.
The first thing I saw was my mom's sleeping figure on the nearby couch. The rest of the room was consisted of a small tv, a coffee table, and a monitor beside my bed.
I groan in pain while trying to stand up. My sight fell to my arm and I let out a gasp. My arm was bandaged, I didn't know I broke it.
I was about to get out of bed, when I slipped. I let out a small shriek, but a cold hand gripped my arm and pulled me back to bed. My eyes widen when my brown eyes met the same black ones.
Instead of smirking, his lips was in a tight line. "W-what are you doing here?" I ask, and just like I expected, his lips turn into a grin.
"You missed me?" He questioned and I shook my head.
"No." I answered bluntly. "Why should I?"
"Well, you were out for three days, I thought I killed you already." He says, full of fake concern. The nerve of this ex-man, now ghost or devil.
"I wished the same thing." I scoffed. "I want to die, to be away from you." He suddenly grab my shoulders and tightening his grip on them, making me wince in pain.
"You will die darling, but I want to ruin you first." He whispers, making me shiver. "I want you to die, because of me. No one else."
My eyes widen, at his statement, but making me wanna slap him across his already ruined face.
Before I could speak, he beat me to it.
"And you are mine."

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)

The day they became Mortal
Paladins and Vampires have always been sworn enemies. While the Paladins were blessed with the power of Apollo, made to heal and to wield the power of light itself, the vampires were immortal beings with heightened senses, strength and speed. For centuries the two lived in general peace, while the paladins built their kingdom Appollis, the vampires resided in the sanguine lands of Sareth. All changed however when an unknown paladin poisoned the special water supply of the vampires with Blackrye, a plant that to the vampire's horror removed their right to eternal life. No longer protected from illness or the relentlessness of time the vampires were forced to indulge in more blood. Soon enough a war broke out between the two kingdoms, a war that would cost the life of King Barron of Appollis and the sanity of Queen Diana of Sareth. Their heirs were too young to ascend the throne, forcing the two kingdoms to hastily form a truce until both princes were old enough to rule their lands. Five years after the blood war Arrin of Appollis and Ophyr of Sareth rule their respective kingdoms, despite having been kings for a few years and heavily disliking each other due to their past, they decided to keep the truce in place. What happens however when Arrin decides to kidnap the vampire king after he unfortunately stumbled upon Appollonian terrain?

Reincarnation of a Businessman
A businessman is betrayed by those he holds dearest and reincarnates into a mystical world of cultivation where the power of a single person can split the heavens. However, his reincarnation does not go smoothly... ******************** This is a xianxia (cultivation/progression fantasy) story which fuses a lot of western fantasy elements. This story includes POV's of different characters which are all going to be developed in the future and will have an effect on the story. The novel is named after the reincarnation of the businessman which serves as a cataclysm in the world of cultivation, and while the MC uses some of his business knowledge, this novel is not centered around the MC creating a business empire. I plan to extend the story into at least 2 books, both taking place in the same world. ******************** Updates will happen once every 2 days, but this is often going to change to once every day or once every 3 days because I am not currently writing full-time, and neither is my editor.

By some stroke of luck (or misfortune, depends how you look at it) she finds herself traveling with 4 students of the famous Caltraix academy. The worst part, she's been assigned to protect these idiots from harms way. Great, just what she wanted. A novel based on the events of my groups Dungeons and Dragons campaign.
