and sat through the lecture of 'never skip class again! you better be lucky this was a study hall' wheein looked genuinely upset.
"we're very, very sorry. ms and—," "it's my fault. kinda just dragged wheein along with me. I probably should've listened to wheein and came back to class,"
the teacher looked at hyejin in disappointment "ahn hwasa. detention," hyejin just nodded and left the class. there was no resentment towards wheein at all. strange. hyejin would never slip the opportunity to get herself out of detention, why for her? especially for wheein.
wheein had stayed behind a bit. "if you at all feel intimidated or need to leave then you can alright?" the teacher stared bullets through the smaller. "you shouldn't be afraid of hwasa," wheein just nodded her head and left the class.
she needed to find hyejin.
wheein pushed her glasses back on her nose, tucking the loose strands of hair behind her ear.
CLASH
"i-i'm so sorry!" wheein apologized to the girl in front of her. she looked up. "wheein?" yongsun stared down at the younger.
all the pent up anger, sadness, guilt bubbled inside of wheein again. "can i have the opportunity to explain myself," wheein hesitated.
her heart was thumping hundreds of times. over and over and over again. "not here." wheein mumbled out. yongsun grabbed wheein's arm and pulled her towards the bathroom. "let me start off with, we were young and didn't know what we were doing," wheein grew angry once more. "are you telling me that all the feelings, all our moments were all nothing?" wheein asked the older.
"wheein—," "okay unnie, let's play your game. if you really think that ninth grade year was a mistake then i'll gladly play along," tears threatened to come out of the shorter's eyes. "but let's be honest with ourselves. what you're saying will never justify what you did,"
"wheein let me explain myself," yongsun grabbed wheein's arm. "we were young and didn't understand what we were doing. what i did with that boy was a mistake, i admit but we were trying to find ourselves!"
wheein just stayed quiet during yongsun's rant. the anger building up. "whatever," wheein shoved yongsun and left the bathroom.
this was a mistake wheein thought. "yah jung wheein!" yongsun stepped out of the bathroom. this whole time, it meant nothing to her? wheein held her arms as tears started to fall from her face. "wheeinie?" hyejin popped out of the corner. "are you okay?" hyejin walked next to the now shaking girl.

"yeah. i'm fine," the older hugged her arms. "okay, i'll believe it when you do," hyejin linked her arms with wheein. "we're going out. does any restaurant stand out to you?" wheein looked at the girl. "what's with you and food?" wheein mumbled out.
"it's the love of my life, what can i say?" wheein chuckled. "whatever you say hyejin,". the tear stains on wheein's face had grew sticky. "do you need to wash your face," wheein shook her head. she will not go through yongsun.
"i dropped my books in the hallway. let me grab it," hyejin just nodded and waited for wheein to come back.
~
the two had arrived at the older's favorite noodle restaurant. "back so soon?" wheein smiled, her dimple showing. "i was here two weeks ago,"
"yeah but the thought counts. doesn't it?," the lady replied "who's the girl," wheein blushed. "my friend," hyejin nodded at that.
"food's on me today. you should be lucky wheeinie," wheein rolled her eyes. "whatever you say,"
hyejin read the name tag. eunbi huh? hyejin winked at the older girl. she's cute. a small blush landed on the girl's cheeks. wheein glanced at hyejin.
the two walked towards the table. the restaurant felt so cozy, the nice scent of newly cooked ramen invaded hyejin's nostrils.
"what're you getting," wheein stared at the menu. "this," she pointed at the option.
"i'll trust your judgement and get one too," hyejin crossed her arms.
they sat in awkward silence. "why did you talk to me?" wheein whispered loud enough for hyejin to talk to her.
"i dunno," hyejin shrugged. "thought you were cute," wheein just groaned. "what's with you and flirting with every girl you see?" hyejin chuckled.
"don't worry honey, i only flirt with you," (which is actually a lie, but hyejin would argue) wheein just glared at her. just as wheein was about to scold her, the food arrived.
"geez wheein, where'd you find this place?" hyejin happily slurped her noodles. wheein looked at hyejin in thought.
"if you're gonna pry, do it some other time. i'm enjoying my noodles," hyejin mumbled out.
the two ate the noodles in silence until hyejin spoke up about how stupid the school was, and how happily she would burn it down.

"didn't know you hated the school that much," hyejin finished her noodles.
a text message notified wheein.
"hyejin-ah i gotta go," wheein picked up her belongings.
"i guess i can go as well," hyejin didn't know why she was so determined to befriend wheein. was it because she wasn't easy?
wheein stared at hyejin's face. hyejin is very different from hwasa.
~
the light invaded hyejin's small room. her body frozen from wearing shorts and a tee. maybe she should've worn a jacket. hyejin groaned and placed her feet on the cold, wooden floor. she shivered.
the girl looked in the mirror. she looked like a mess that should be cleaned up. hyejin's phone buzzed against the nightstand. she picked it up.
wanna hang out with me and yongsun at xxx?
will i be third wheeling?
ofc not just meet us up at the bus stop
hyejin smiled at her lovesick friend. byulyi was a love induced hamster, she cared so much about yongsun. the sad thing is, the oldest is slow.
hyejin brushed her teeth, washed her face, and put her hair together. now she looked less of a mess. hyejin pulled together ripped jeans, with a white t-shirt that fit comfortably around the girl's figure.
i look hot hyejin thought (she really did though). to finish the outfit, hyejin out in earrings and a plain necklace.
hyejin put on the tiniest bit of makeup.
hurry up before we leave you
geez y'all have no patience AT ALL
(hyejin actually did take a long time getting ready, but we don't talk about that).
"unnie!" hyejin waved at byulyi. "hey ugly!" yongsun slapped byul's arm "yah! don't insult my adorable baby," byul's mouth widened in 'hurt'. "you ready?" hyejin nodded.
they finally arrived at their destination. "we almost died at least ten times," "don't judge me moon byulyi," yongsun crossed her arms. hyejin gaped at the large house "what're we gonna do?" hyejin questioned.
she hasn't been to yongsun's house in so long. "maybe watch a disney movie or uh play games," yongsun shrugged. as yong opened the door, a white and black dog came out. "jjing jjing!" she held the puppy in her arms.
hyejin smiled. how adorable she thought. in the girl's peripheral vision, she sees a familiar girl whose glasses laid cutely on her nose. wheein? she looked over at the figure. "jung wheein!" the head looked up, so did yongsun's.
"come over here!" the girl had shook her head. hyejin excused herself from the two. "hey," wheein looked visibly uncomfortable. "hi," she mumbled out. "i never knew you lived here! if i did i would've talked to you sooner," hyejin smiled widely.
"yeah uh—you have to go," wheein glanced over at yongsun and byul. hyejin pouted. as much as she wanted to hang out with yongsun and byul, she wanted to be with wheein even more. "do you have anything to do?" wheein vigorously nodded her head.
"yeah like uh—have to do stuff," she mumbled out to hyejin. "okay you're a terrible liar, jung wheein," wheein just shrugged. "hang out with your friends," hyejin just chuckled. "they're like a couple, i'd be intruding on them anyway," wheein questionably looked at hyejin.
"they're dating?" hyejin looked at the small girl. "well kind've. yong's just super slow when byul tries to flirt with her. but if you were there, you'd think they were an old couple," hyejin smiled at the oldest blushing by byul.
"i think byul would appreciate me for doing this," wheein just sighed. "just stay with your friends hyejin," hyejin just crossed her arms. "nah, i'd rather be with you," wheein flushed red. "y—yah! go back to your friends," she shoved hyejin towards the two.
hyejin pouted. "wheeinie please," wheein's heart thumped. "go, hyejin," her voice playful. "fine. but if i become a third wheel you're gonna have to come over and get me," wheein just rolled her eyes. "you'll be fine,"
"promise me jung wheein," wheein stared at her with a smile.
"i promise hyejin," hyejin smiled at the girl and ran towards her other friends. hyejin's so cold at school, why is she so nice to me? wheein thought.
wheein left the place she used to hate, and something even stranger. she left that place with the widest smile on her face.
