Alexander smiled at his wife as she walked down the stairs tiredly
"Good morning, my love." Alexander said
Angelica said nothing, for she was still angry at her husband
While Angelica and Alexander sat down to eat breakfast, there was an angry Phillip about to do something unimaginable
———————————————————————POV SWITCH: FIRST PERSON: MARGARITA HAMILTON
———————————————————————
"Phillip, you can't go!" I begged Phillip
"It must be done." He said to me with determination
"Phillip, Aunt Peggy just died. Mama can't take another heartbreak. We'll ALL miss you too much...you don't stand a chance!" Peggy II was grabbing me by my sleeve
I snatch away my arm and grab her face with my hands "Peggy. I must do this. I cannot let George Eacker disparage our father's legacy. Especially in front of a crowd." He explained
"Then I'll do it. You're the eldest son, you can't die!" I tried to convince him
"No. I'm going and that's final!" He let go of my face and he held me as tight as he could so he could give me my directions
"Peggy, if I die, it's your job to tell our family what happened. Comfort them. If I am to kill Eacker whether it be intentional or not, you mustn't tell a soul. Swear it."
"But Phillip—"
"Swear it!"
"Alright, Alright. I swear it." The siblings let go of each other and Phillip started to leave
"Oh and Phillip?" Peggy asked
"Yes, Pegs?"
"I love you." She smiled at him
"I love you too." He smiled back
Phillip's smile faded and he went downstairs to kiss our parents good bye, knowing he would be returning later
"I love you both!" Phillip ran out the door
My parents didn't say anything and looked at each other
"What's all that about?" My father asked my mother
"As if I know" Mama replied
I kissed them both goodbye
"I too shall be leaving! I will be meeting Frances and Theodosia in the square." I smiled
"Have fun darling, don't forget to come home with Phillip, alright? I don't want you three ladies alone." My father said

"Alright. Goodbye!" I ran out the door, with no intention of going to the square with Theodosia and Frances
———time skip———
"My name is Phillip
I am a poet
And I'm a little nervous but I can't show it
I'm sorry, I'm a Hamilton with pride
If you talk about my father, I will not let that slide!" Phillip gave himself a pep talk and prepared himself for the confrontation
The young man held a pistol in his hand as he waited at Weehawken for Mr. Eacker, pacing the duel grounds nervously
What if he didn't make it back alive? What if Phillip killed him? What would his parents say? Maybe this isn't such a good idea...
George Eacker walked with two men, his second and a doctor that he knew
"Mr. Eacker. Did you enjoy your show?" Phillip asked him, rubbing his neck nervously
"I'd rather skip the pleasantries let's go. Before we begin. Are you sure about this? You are a child after all—!" George asked
"I am still a Hamilton. I will defend my father's legacy. Do not let my age fool you. And I'm 19." He glared
The individuals turned away from each other and began to count to ten
"1 I'm doing the right thing"
"2 It's what father would've done"
"3 Father would be proud"
"4 But mother would be devastated"
"5 We already lost Peggy..."
"6 This would isn't a good idea"
"7 But it had to be me"
"8 I wouldn't let father's legacy die—"
"PHILLIP!—"
A shot filled the air and Phillip whipped his head around, as he held his gun in the sky. George had a look of pure dread on his face as his gun pointed in front of him. Strangely enough, Phillip didn't feel the shot that was aimed for him. Phillip looked down and dropped his gun, lifting his hands to his face. Phillip screamed in distress as he fell to his knees
Margarita laid on the floor with a bullet wound
"I-I didn't mean to—I!" George was finally, for once, at a loss for words
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" Phillip screamed, holding his sister in his arms
"I wasn't try-trying to hit her! I-I was shooting my gun pa-pa-past you. I was only trying to scare you so you'd just—just drop it!" George fumbled over his words

"Scare me?! Oh my god...Peggy..." Phillip held his sister closer
The doctor and Mr. Eacker both grabbed Peggy to bring her to Aunt Eliza's house
However, Phillip put up a fight and did not want to let his sister go anywhere George Eacker
"NO! No, no, NO! Please, no! She's my sister ! She's my sister..." Phillip started to sob
He got up and ran to catch up to them
He grabbed Eacker's second roughly by the shoulder
"Go to the Hamilton estate and tell my parents what has happened."
"But George—"
"I don't give two shits and a stick about what Eacker wants or needs. Tell my parents or I'll kill you myself. Go. Now." Phillip said through gritted teeth
———meanwhile———
"Angelica, I thought we were at least talking to one another. Why do you ignore me?" Alexander grabbed Angelica's hand, but she pulled it away and looked in another direction
"I'm going to make you talk to me eventually. Whether it be to tell me to stop, to leave you alone, to even tell me that you hate me and that you never want to see my face again. I will get you to talk to me. Aren't you ticklish?" Alexander smirked and tried to tickle her sides, but Angelica beat him to it by grabbing his hands and looking in his eyes
"Alexander. Stop. Please. I'm just not ready to forgive you." Angelica said sternly
"I got you to talk to me." Alexander smiled
Angelica widened her eyes and scoffed at him
"Honestly, you are so immature." Angelica got up and went to the library to ease her mind
'She'll forgive me soon. I know it. There's just something, that one thing, that needs to happen to push her a little bit—" Alexander's thoughts were interrupted by the slamming of the door
Alexander yelped
"Sir? Who are you? And what are you doing barging into my home without knocking—" Alexander asked as he started to walk towards him in threatening strides
"IT'S MARGARITA HAMILTON! SHE'S IN TROUBLE! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!" The man yelled in fear
Alexander Hamilton's face turned as white as parchment
Alexander grabbed the man's collar so fast it made the man jump
"Take me to her. Now."
———Eliza's House———
Peggy Hamilton gasped and clenched her teeth as she was laid down on Aunt Eliza's bed
Phillip was crying and held Peggy's hands tightly
"P-Phillip—I-What about m-mama and p-pa? Wha-what will they s-say?" Peggy squeaked out
"Shhh...they'll understand...I know they will." Phillip reassured her
"I-I just wanted to-to protect you..." Peggy smiled at him
"I know, I know...just stay aliv—"
"WHERE'S MY DAUGHTER?!" Alexander burst through the door with George Eacker's second
"Pa! She's over here!" Phillip yelled
"Move, boy, move!" Alexander shoved Phillip away from Peggy
He grabbed his daughter's face and started sobbing uncontrollably
"Margarita...sweet Margarita..." Alexander sobbed
She looked at him and smiled
"Gngh...p-pa...he did—exactly as you s-said pa...held his head up hi-high..." Peggy said
"Shhh...I know, I know..."
"I-"
"Shhh...I know, he did everything just right..."
"Even b-before they got to te-te-ten, pa. I jumped in. I didn't want him to d-die."
"Shhh...."
"I didn't want him to die..."
"I know, save your strength and stay ali—"
"OH MY GOD! Oh my god..." Angelica ran into the room with mascara running down her face
"Angel—"
"IS SHE BREATHING, IS SHE GOING TO SURVIVE THIS?! WHO DID THIS?! PHILLIP, DID YOU KNOW?!"
Phillip hung his head down in shame as him and his parents gathered around Peggy
"M-mama I'm so sorry f-for forgetting what you taught me..."
"My love..."
"We learned about pride..."
"I taught you about pride..."
"You w-would say it was a virtue..."
"I'd say it was a fault..."
"I would say it was a v—"
"Shhh...I know, I know..." Angelica whispered
"Fault..." Margarita held her mother's hand
"So, y-you finally agree? That pride is indeed a-a fault than a v-virtue?" Angelica smiled as she let more tears fall
"Y-yes..." Peggy held her mother's hands tighter
"Oh how the mightiest of minds fall..." Angelica cried
"Y-you were right mother..."
"W-What?" Angelica gasped
"It truly is man's pride...that..starts..the..wars...." Peggy's grip on her mother's hand loosened and her head fell limp in her father's grip
"P-Peggy? I lost one...I can't lose you too..." Angelica watched her daughter as her face lost it's natural bronze color and turned pale, her brown eyes dimmed and lost their light, slowly closing.
Angelica shook and let out a heart-wrenching scream

I hope you had a good time reading! This is my very first book, but I've spent quite the time writing and editing this. So I'm a tad bit confident with this. Sadly, I'm only able to put up 2 chapters weekly. The reason is...I'm still a student. School is hard, annoying and a hassle but necessary. So I'm really sorry for the slow updates, but please bear with me~!(?-?-?) I hope you enjoy reading this ('cuz I sure as hell had so much fun writing this ( • ??•? )). Thanks~!
