《Rewind (A Hamilton AU/ Hamgelica AU)》Chapter VII

It was the day of the wedding. Everyone but Eliza was ready to go, but she was only getting her hair done, so she was fine. Angelica was currently sitting on the floor while Eliza sat in a chair and she was braiding her hair to create a low bun. The bun consisted of flowers and little specks of snow because it was a winter wedding. Eliza's dress was grand, but simple and her veil had a long train that needed to be carried by three people
She truly was beautiful
Angelica and Peggy were already in the carriage and watched as Albert helped her in. The two looked at each other somberly knowing that there was no turning back and it was happening. All they could do was hope Angelica's dreams were wrong, but deep down they knew there was no possibility of that
"What's with the sad faces, ladies? Today should be a happy occasion! Are you not happy for me?" Eliza asked cluelessly
"Of course we're happy for you, 'Liza! We love you and we're so happy that you have found someone that makes you just as happy. We're a little tired is all." Peggy answered for the both of them
"Oh, ok! I just don't want any sad faces at my wedding. You two are my greatest supporters and I hate seeing you sad."
Angelica was staring at Eliza in pure wonder. How could a person be so trusting? So kind? A part of Angelica believed she was an angel sent directly from heaven. For she was just too pure for this world.
In a matter of seconds, they arrived at the ballroom where the Hamilton wedding was held. It was a very grandiose building and there were flowers everywhere with white decor
The sisters started laughing and squealing with each other as the concept of Eliza's marriage sunk in. This was going to be amazing
"Ladies, I see Alexander! He can't see me, it's bad luck. Distract him and his friends, will you? Thanks, loves!" Eliza ran off to God knows where while Peggy and Angelica stood there in confusion.
The group of men walked over to the sisters
"Peggy, ma chéri. How are you today?" John Laurens asked Peggy, as he kissed her hand

"I am well, mon chère. How is the revolution?"
"We are winning at the moment. Angelica, mon ami, and how are you?"
"Just peachy, John. Just peachy." Angelica answered
John shrugged his shoulders and kissed Angelica's hand. He and his two friends, Mulligan and Marquis de Lafayette, walked away, but Alexander stayed.
"Peggy, Angelica. I want to tell you how happy I am you two could make it. Especially you, Angelica." Alexander said
The two girls looked at each other "We wouldn't miss it for the world. Eliza's our sister and we'd do anything for her." Angelica explained
"Yes of course. Angelica, may I please speak to you? Alone?"
Angelica was caught off guard with his request and looked at Peggy for guidance. She too believed that this request was suspicious, but nodded her head at Angelica for her to go ahead.
"I'll be with you shortly, Pegs." Angelica told her
"I'll be with Laurens, you don't have to worry."
Alexander grabbed Angelica's hand and lead her to a secluded space in the woods. There was snow around them and thankfully they were dressed warm, yet still classy for the occasion.
Alexander turned and looked into Angelica's eyes
"Angelica, I have a confession to make"
"A-a confession?"
"Yes, there is something you must know. I don't know how to say this. I'm in love with your sister, obviously. I don't know where I'd be without her. However, there's just one problem."
"And what problem is this?" She asked
"Well, I love you as well. In fact, even though I love her, I'd rather pick you given there was a choice. You match my intelligence, I can talk to you about political affairs, you're stunningly beautiful, your eyes hold a mystery I long to solve, but I will never get to do so. I just wanted to tell you before I marry your sister. Please, don't say you return these feelings, for I know the odds are against us and we can never satisfy each other's wants-no needs for each other. Please, say you don't love me as well."
Angelica stood there in silence, just staring at this man in bewilderment. He confessed his love to her on her sister's wedding. She wanted to slap him, but she wanted to kiss him a the same time

No
She leaned in
Stop
She grabbed his face in her hands
Angelica
She pulled him closer
He's not yours
Closer
Don't do this
Closer
Angelica kissed Alexander's lips. They were soft and kissed her back. However, they both knew that this was a dream that could not be. So, instead of breaking the kiss, they went further and further into the abyss of love. They kissed for a few minutes, when Alexander got a little handsy Angelica snapped out of it and lightly pushed him away. They panted, catching their breath and looking at each other. They both held guilt for what they have just done and this made things so much more complicated. If this was stolen kiss is what they could have, then so be it.
"Alexander, I love you. I love you more than words can express. If the circumstances were different I would not hesitate to make you mine, but this simply cannot be. I love you, maybe we can be together in another life."
She walked away before he could say anything, tears threatening to fall down her face, but she wouldn't let them
———a lovely time skip———
Eliza held a bouquet of dark colored flowers as she walked gracefully down the aisle to her future husband. It truly was beautiful to watch and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Before you know it, it's time for the rest of the wedding to begin after the two have said the "I do's"
John Laurens drunkily stands up on a table and makes a toast to Alexander and the revolution. Angelica watches him, but doesn't register what he is saying.
He introduces her to the room and it's her turn to make a toast. She grabs a glass of champagne, and walks to the front of the room. All eyes are on her and she closes her eyes and takes a breath. She opens her eyes and gives a confident smile to the crowd
"A toast to the groom"
"To the groom!" Everyone repeats
"To the bride"
"To the bride! To the bride!"
"From your sister's, Angelica and Peggy"
"Angelica and Peggy!"
"For we are always by your side!"
"Always by your side!"
"To your union!"
"To the union! To the revolution!"
"And the hope that you provide!"
"Provide! Provide!"
"May you always be satisfied!"
"Satisfied!"
Angelica puts down her glass and tears are streaming down her face, like everyone else. She runs to Eliza and gives her a hug. Angelica holds her face and looks into her eyes and they cry together.
She walks away from her to Alexander. Angelica runs to him as well and jumps into his arms. Her tears soak his jacket and they look into each other's eyes.
"Alexander, may you always be satisfied" She starts to put her hand in his cheek, but hesitates and puts her hand down
Angelica walks away before he can react and goes outside to the balcony to look into the night sky. She tries to stop crying but she just can't. She hears footsteps behind her and whips her head around to be faced with John Laurens
"Angelica? What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm fine Laurens"
"No you're not. I want you to tell me the truth. Is it Alexander? Eliza? I know it is, just please tell me the truth."
He grabs her hands and looks into her eyes
"Yes. It is. Please don't tell my sister. She'd never forgive herself, even if it isn't her fault."
"I promise. Even though it seems hard, Angie, it gets better. Even if you feel like you will fall apart at the seams and you don't want to live anymore, it gets better and you will be happy. With or without Alexander in your life. Now turn that frown upside down, Angie. You've always had a beautiful smile."
Angelica laughed as she heard those same words from Peggy. But she thanked John for making her feel better, she insisted on being alone for a little bit. She once again looked into the sky and found the stars
At least I keep his eyes in my life
