Title: "Waiting It Out"

Main character: A news reporter (of any age and gender)

Background information: -A reporter went to go cover (report) an "earthquake zone" -- where there's a high chance that an earthquake or some other natural disaster could occur (side note: term I came up with... don't take it as scientific fact :)

-Tremors start to occur more rapidly, as the ground gives way; taking other citizens with the reporter and camera crew

-The majority of the people survive the fall... the problem, as of right now, is being stuck underground

-Setting: Along the fault lines (California, New Madrid, etc.)

-Unity is key in this story... people have to stay together to survive.

-The reporter will serve as a leader; keeping people together and alive

-This is a real situation, it just happened in a different way. Anyways, I'd strongly suggest you check out the link. It's very fascinating, to me.

Story idea (plot): The reporter went to the site of the fault lines to cover the recent tremors that have been occuring. However, the tremors that happened when the reporter was there were strong enough to break open the earth and engulf people. The camera crew survive and use the camera to broadcast what is happening to the rest of the town. The struggle of this story is trying to keep everyone alive, safe, well, and unified.
