Chapter 64
"No," Mason growled lowly, narrowing his eyes down at me. I ran a hand through my tangled hair then crossed my arms against my chest, shaking my head.
"I'm coming, whether you like it or not," I argued, making him growl again. He grabbed my arms in his tight grip and pulled me to his chest, his eyes turning darker by the second.
"I said no, Tiana. You are not coming with us tonight. It's too dangerous," he shot back, making me huff out in frustration. I furrowed my brows and shook my head, not giving in.
"I want to come. I am the Luna of this pack so I have every right to come with you," I spoke out, eager to go with them. "I need to, Mason. Please, let me." He looked down at me with confused eyes but remained silent, before shaking his head.
"No," he stated. "I can't risk it. I won't risk losing you. You're the only thing I have left." His hard eyes turned soft at this moment, sadness present in his dark orbs. I let out a sigh and cupped his cheeks in my hands, pulling him towards me then placing a soft, gentle kiss on his lips. I pulled away and stared into his eyes, wanting the sadness to vanish completely.
"Mason," I said. "I'll be fine. Trust me." He looked down at me and looked hesitant, a confused expression crossing his features.
"Fine," he spoke in defeat, slumping his shoulders as he let out a sigh. I smiled up at him and wrapped my arms around him, pulling him towards me for a hug. His arms immediately wrapped around me as his nose dug into my hair.
"Thank you," I whispered. He just nodded as he inhaled my scent, calming down. "I love you." He pulled away and stared down at me, adoration and love present in his sparkling eyes. He placed a lingering kiss on my forehead before he pulled away, staring down at me.
"I love you too, Tiana. More than you can ever imagine."
A couple of hours have passed and I decided to go out to the yard to see how the pack warriors were doing. I wanted to see Adam and Ameer before we had to leave. From what I know, we were leaving soon. Gia said that we had to meet them outside the pack so they wouldn't enter the pack, for the pack member's safety.
I was really nervous but I had to go, they wanted me so I would be a coward if I stayed hidden in the pack as I let them fight a war that may or may not happen. I was the Luna, and as their Luna, I had to go.
Pushing those thoughts aside, I walked out the back door and towards the yard. Everyone knew what was happening and they all had their guards up. I could see in the distance Mason training the pack warriors in a strict manner. Everyone looked stressed as they trained.
I walked up to them and as soon as I was near them, Mason gave them a short break. I smiled at him as he nodded towards me. He came walking towards me before he placed a gentle kiss on my cheek. He pulled away and smiled down at me.
"I have some work to do," he spoke. "I'll see you later."
I nodded my head and he kissed me one more time before he turned around and walked away. Looking around, I spotted Adam and Ameer in the distance, talking to each other. I tilted my head in confusion but walked up to them. They were smiling and laughing.

Since when did they meet?
As soon as I was in front of them, they smiled up at me and greeted me with a hug. I hugged them back before I pulled away, staring up at them with a brow raised.
"Hey there, best friend," Ameer gushed, pinching my cheek, making me slap his hand then rub the place he pinched.
"Hey," I muttered, before looking at Adam. "Since when did you guys meet?" I questioned. Adam gave me a look before he shook his head.
"Tiana, did you forget that we're both pack warriors? We were bound to meet," Adam pointed out. I slowly nodded my head.
"Oh," I muttered then stayed silent. "Well, you guys seem to get along." Ameer smiled and nodded, wrapping my arm around my shoulder.
"We do. But don't be jealous," he mused out. "You're still my first best friend." He raised his wrist in front of my face and wiggled it, showing the pink bracelet that wrapped around it. I narrowed my eyes at him and smacked his neck, making him yelp then rub the place I smacked.
"I'm not jealous," I muttered, crossing my arms against my chest. Adam nodded his head, giving me a look saying that he didn't believe me.
"Sure you're not," Ameer spoke, making me smack his neck for the second time today.
"Ouch," he muttered, rubbing his neck. "You're such a violent woman." Adam smiled and nodded his head, looking at Ameer.
"That's what I always tell her, but she never believes me." They both laughed but I rolled my eyes. I let out a huff as they continued to joke around with me. After a while, Mason called them back and they had to get back to training. I said my goodbye's before I walked towards the packhouse and towards Lina's room.
"Mason just mind linked me," Lina spoke, breaking the tensed silence that filled the air. I looked over at her and frowned. "He wants us to meet up with him outside the pack house with the pack warriors. They're about to depart."
I sucked in a shaky breath before I nodded my head, standing up.
I guess it's time.
We silently walked out the door and towards the front door. I looked over at Lina to see her looking forward, a normal expression present on her features. I looked away as we walked down the stairs. I smiled once I saw my mom and dad by the front door. I ran up to them and pulled them in for a hug.
My mother soon pulled away, staring down at me with a sad expression.
"Honey, do you have to go?" My mother asked, her eyes glimmering with worry as my father nodded his head. "It's too dangerous. I don't know what I'd do if something happens to you."
I let out a troubled sigh before shaking my head. I grabbed onto both their hands before smiling up at them, trying to give them reassurance.
"Mother," I whispered, before looking at my father. "Father, don't worry. I'll be fine. Mason's with me. He'll keep me safe." They stared down at me before looking at one another. With a defeated sigh, they nodded their heads. I pulled them in for another hug before we pulled away.
"Ok. Just please, stay safe," my father whispered, his eyes saddening. I nodded my head and stepped back, looking over at Lina.
"I will." And with that, Lina and I walked out of the packhouse doors. We were met with Adam, Ameer, Mason, and a couple of pack warriors. I offered Ameer and Adam a soft smile before Mason pulled me in for a hug.

"Tonight, everything will end," Mason whispered in my ear. I looked up at him and nodded, his eyes showing me comfort. We pulled away and I looked at Ameer, who offered me a happy smile as if we weren't walking to our deaths.
"Don't worry, Tiana," Ameer spoke, placing his arm around my shoulder. "I'll protect you with my life." I smiled at his words and nodded my head, happy that he was this optimistic at a time like this. Adam nodded his head and placed his hand on the other side of my shoulder.
"Me too," Adam cut in.
I looked at them in awe and opened my mouth, ready to say something when Mason cut in.
"The other pack warriors took a head start. Let's go and catch up with them." We all nodded our heads and started walking towards the pack warriors. I whipped my head over at Mason as soon as I felt him tangle his hand with mine, before raising it up to his lips and lingering a soft, gentle kiss onto my hand.
I softly smiled at him and gave his hand a squeeze, stepping closer to his side as we walked into the woods. I gulped as soon as I felt the air tense. The soft wind was silent as the tension filled the air. The closer we walked to the pack borders, the more the tension grew.
I looked over at Adam and Ameer to see them looking forward with a hard expression plastered onto their faces. I then turned over at Lina and she gave me a crooked smile, patting my back.
"Everything will be fine," she whispered. I nodded and looked ahead.
I don't know what was going to happen tonight, but I prayed that no one would get hurt, and Lina could actually prevent the war.
How? I still don't know.
I was pulled away from my thoughts as soon as Mason's hold on me tightened. I looked up at him to see his eyes turning a dark shade of black, his face growing hard by the second. I turned to look forward to see we were right by the pack borders, and in the distance, was a long line of pack warriors that were ready for anything.
We slowly walked up to them as we stared at the trees that surrounded us, waiting for someone to make an appearance.
I kept my head high, trying to be brave for the members of my pack. Let's just hope that what Gia said was true.
Everyone's guards were up, backs stiffen as they inspected their surroundings. The air around us was quiet, but that all changed when we heard footsteps from afar, the footsteps of many people. I sucked in a breath and Mason took a step in front of me, as he nodded to the pack warriors to be ready for whatever was about to come.
I glanced at Lina and she only stepped forward, staring straight ahead.
The footsteps grew louder and louder by the minute, causing the tension in the air to grow. I held in my breath as rogues and vampires slowly came into sight, causing a couple of the pack warriors to growl out. We received growls and hisses back, which made Mason give the pack warriors a warning look.
We all remained silent as we waited for the rest of them to make their appearance. After a long dreadful minute, many rogues and vampires were in front of us in a long line, but what caught my attention was the two men that walked in front of the large group.
One was old, and the other one was around my age. The old man that was directly in front of us was staring at me with a smirk on his face, making me step closer to Mason in comfort. While the other one looked like this was the last place he wanted to be in. He looked bored as if he was forced to come here.
"Well, ain't this a surprise," the old man, whose name I predicted was Roy, spoke. "You saved us the time and work. How thoughtful of you. But what I'm wondering is how you knew of our appearance?"
Mason let out a low growl, stepping a step forward.
"But that's not important," he spoke before Mason could even say anything. "Since you knew of our appearance, then you must know of our reason." His eyes slowly laid on me, making me narrow my eyes at him. Mason let out a loud growl as Roy's smirk only grew.
"You aren't taking what's mine," Mason spoke lowly. "Leave before any blood is shed." I glanced over at Lina and furrowed my brows as soon as I saw her wide eyes. I followed where she was looking to see a shocked Asher staring right back at Lina.
My mouth hung open as I stared between the two, as they looked at each other in shock.
What the...
"Is that a threat?" Roy hissed, snapping me from my thoughts. I looked over at the scene in front of me and before Mason could reply back, Asher spoke.
"Father," he growled, stepping towards him. "I told you many times, this is not what I want." I furrowed my brows as Roy snapped his attention over at him, hissing at him.
"Shut up, Asher. Don't get in the way of my plans," he growled. "I'm doing this for the future of our family," Asher growled out and clenched his fist as we all watched the tense scene.
"I could care less," he sneered. "I don't want your plans. I want my mate." Roy's eyes went dark as he stared at his son. He growled out and stepped closer to him, shaking his head.
"Your mate is the person I choose for you," he spoke lowly, before turning over to me. "And that's her." He pointed right at me, making Mason growl out.
"No, she's not. She's my mate," Mason spat.
"You can't control my life," Asher hissed, growing angrier by the time. "I'll live the way I want to. I'm tired of your bullshit. I won't accept a mate other than my real mate."
Mason's hold on me tightened as the father and son in front of us continued to yell. I looked over at Lina to see her staring at Asher, her mouth open as her eyes grew dark. Before I could even question a thing, I heard Roy yell out.
"You will obey my orders," he yelled before he looked over at his men. "Get her." He pointed at me, making our men immediately leap and shift in the air. My eyes widened as vampires and rogues came running towards me. Mason immediately shifted and started to take men down one by one.
Everything went by like a blur. I was shocked as growls and hisses erupted in the air. Wolves and vampires ran past me, as many men were taken down to the ground. I was immediately snapped out of my trance as soon as I saw a werewolf running towards me, but before I could even react, Adam pushed me out of the way, making me fall to the ground.
I looked up to see Adam and rogue fighting, digging their teeth into each other's neck. My eyes widened as I saw another rogue jumping onto Adam, biting him as he let out a pained howl. I immediately got up and ran towards Adam, ready to shift when one of our pack warriors pushed those wolves off of Adam.
I ran up to him as Adam shifted back into his human form, a pool of blood surrounding his still body. I kneeled down to him as my vision blurred from his sight. My eyes ran over his body before they landed on his face.
"Oh my gosh, Adam," I gasped. "Are you ok? Are you hurt? Adam, say something." Adam looked up at me with pained eyes. He winced out in pain as I started to panic in worry.
"T-Tiana," he whispered, grabbing onto my hand as blood kept flowing out of him. A couple of tears fell out of my eyes as everything else around me, the fighting, the growl, and the yelling stopped, and I was only concentrating on Adam.
"I need to tell you something that I should have told you a long time ago," he managed to say, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them. I shook my head and tightened my hold onto his hands.
"Shh. You'll tell me later," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks. "We need to get you to a doctor." As soon as I said that, I immediately linked Sam, telling him to immediately come here with more men.
Adam only shook his head. "No, I need to tell you now." I let out a shaky breath and nodded my head. He smiled up at me and raised his hand up to my cheek, wiping a tear away.
"Tiana, I love you so much," he spoke out in a pained voice. "I've always loved you. I never mustered the courage to tell you. But I wanted you to know that before I die." I immediately shook my head and stopped him, letting the tears out.
"Don't say that," I told him. "We'll talk about that later, once you're up and healthy."
He slowly shook his head. "I never told you because I knew I had no chance. You mean so much to me, and I truly hope that Mason can make you happy," he croaked out, slowly closing his eyes. I cried out, repeatedly shaking my head.
"No, no, no. Please, Adam," I whimpered. "Keep your eyes open. I beg you." I was sobbing as I held my best friend in my arms, as he slowly died in my hold. I wasn't paying attention to anything, trying to heal him with my angel powers as I waited for Sam and more men to appear until I heard a loud booming voice yell through the air.
"Enough," Asher roared out. I whipped my head to where Asher was to see him leaping onto his father, ending his life within a second. "Everyone, stop this instant." All of Roy's men stopped and stared at him, shock crossing on their features as they saw their old Alpha lifeless on the ground.
"I'm your Alpha now," he yelled. "I demand you all retreat this instant." The rogues and the vampires slowly started to walk towards him in defeat, as our men still had their guards up. After a moment, all his men were back to their positions. Asher looked at Mason who was immediately by my side.
"This was never my intention," he spoke out, indicating on the injured men that filled the area. "My men will retreat. I apologize sincerely." Slowly, all his men started to disappear from our sight. Asher took a step back before he looked back at us.
"But I will come back," he yelled, making Mason growl out threateningly, "for my mate." His eyes landed on a shocked Lina. My eyes widened as everything registered in my head. And with that, he and all his men were out of sight.
I immediately looked back at Adam that was in my arms and that's when Sam and other men came running towards us. I placed my fingers on his pulse and let out a breath as soon as I felt a pulse. I gulped as the blood didn't stop. Sam immediately came to aid Adam but a voice from the distance caught me off guard.
"Mate," a feminine voice yelled out. I whipped my head to the source of the sound to find a rogue running towards us. Mason let out a growl, standing up. Without even sparing us a glance, the rogue kneeled down to Adam and pulled him out of my arms, and into hers.
"Mate," she repeated, hugging him to her chest. My eyes were wide as I witnessed what was in from of me. Mason took a step closer to her, but Sam stopped him, shaking his head.
"Let her be with him, a mate can heal their mate's pain," Sam whispered. I immediately nodded my head. I was caught off guard by what was happening. Adam's mate is a rogue from Asher's pack.
"Take all the injured back to the packhouse so we can aid them," Mason yelled at the pack warriors. They all nodded their heads and started carrying the injured back to the packhouse. I watched as they carried an unconscious Adam away with his mate by his side.
Mason pulled me in his arms and whispered soothing words into my ear, calming me down. "He'll be ok, especially since he has his mate." I only nodded my head but snapped my head towards my right when a pack warrior came running towards us.
"Alpha," he breathed out, his face pale as he caught his breath. Mason and I looked at him in confusion.
"Yes? What is it?" Mason asked, tightening his hold onto me.
"One of our men died. A vampire was about to inject the Luna with silver, but he got in the way. He was bitten and injected with silver," he spoke out, sadness lacing his voice. My eyes widened as I heard that one of our men has died trying to save my life.
Mason stood silent for a moment before speaking. "Who is it?" He asked, stepping closer to the pack warrior.
"Ameer."
