Chapter 62

Everyone's eyes widened severely as they stared at Lina, who had her mouth open, welcoming any fly that flew in. Her eyes were wide with shock and surprise, caught off guard from what Gia claimed. I stiffened in my seat and looked at Lina, who reflected the same expression everyone had plastered onto their faces in this room.

"What?" Lina questioned in a shocked voice, sitting up straight as she stared at Gia. "Me? What do you mean me? I don't understand." Gia nodded her head and stood up, walking up to Lina.

Mason's eyes were wide as he registered what Gia said about his sister. It was confusing.

How could Lina prevent the war?

Gia stepped in front of Lina and nodded, staring into her questioning eyes. "Yes. You are the one who can prevent chaos from happening," Gia confirmed. Lina's eyes roamed around the room as everyone remained silent. She then looked back at Gia and gulped.

"How?" Lina asked.

Gia sighed and backed away, shaking her head. "I don't know how. All I saw was you, that's it," Gia answered. "At the night of the war, you have to be present, to prevent the war from happening," Mason growled and stood up, glaring at Gia.

"I won't let my sister take any risks of getting hurt," he spoke. "She won't come." Gia snapped her head over at him and glared at him, before walking up to him.

"She has to," she hissed, glancing at Lina then back at Mason. "Unless you want people to die and your mate is taken away from your hands, she has to come." Mason's eyes softened before they laid on me. I smiled softly at him to give him reassurance. He then glanced around the room before stopping at Lina, who had a mixture of feelings plastered onto her face.

Mason then looked at Gia and his soft eyes hardened. "I won't allow anything bad to happen to my sister," he whispered. Gia sighed out and shook her head.

"Nothing will happen to her," she assured. "She'll be fine and safe. The safety of your pack is in her hands." Mason looked hesitant before he looked at Lina. Lina smiled up at him and nodded, making him sigh out.

"It's her choice, not mine," he spoke. Everyone's eyes turned to look at Lina and she nodded, staring at Gia.

"I'll do it. I'll go," Lina claimed. Gia nodded and then looked at Mason when he spoke.

"When will this war happen?" He asked. Gia shrugged her shoulder and sat back down in her chair.

"I don't know. I still haven't seen that yet, but when I do, then you all should be ready," she replied. We all sighed out and Mason nodded, walking from behind his desk.

"I'll make sure to have my men ready for the time being," he spoke, glancing at me before he looked at Gia and my parents. "There are plenty of empty rooms in this packhouse, my men will show you to your rooms." He looked at me and I offered him a small smile. He nodded and walked towards the door, letting out a sigh. "I need to take care of my men, if anyone needs me then I'll be out in the yard."

We all nodded and he was out the door, shutting it behind him. I looked over at Lina to see her staring at the ground. I sighed out and stood up, sitting next to her. She looked up at me and I offered her a reassuring smile. "You do know if you feel uncomfortable or threatened then you don't have to do this," I whispered. She immediately shook her head.

"No, I have to do this. I want to," she whispered back. "You heard what she said," she glanced at Gia then looked back at me. "War would break out if I'm not there. It would be selfish of me to not come. I have to go for the safety of the pack. Besides, she did say nothing would happen to me."

I nodded and placed my hand on her back, patting it in comfort. "That's very brave of you," I whispered. She chuckled at me.

"I guess I'm not that useless after all," Lina joked. I rolled my eyes and then looked at my parents, who stared at me with adoration. I smiled at them and was about to get up and walk to them when Mason's office door slammed open, revealing a shocked Adam.

"Mom? Dad?" He whispered, running up to them. They stood up and ran up to him, engulfing him in a tight hug. He wrapped his arms around them as they reunited. He whispered some muffled words as his mom cried out in happiness. They soon pulled away and they smiled up at him, his eyes watering with emotions.

"I missed you both," he whispered. His mother smiled up at him and cupped his cheek. "We missed you too, Honey. We're so happy to have you back." He smiled and his father's eyes widened once he looked at his clothes. He gaped at him in surprise and shock.

"You're a pack warrior?" He asked. Adam smiled and nodded.

"Yes, I am," he responded. "But I was not working here, I was working in an allied pack." His mother's eyes widened and she frowned.

"Wait, does that mean you're not going to stay here?" She questioned. Adam smiled and shook his head.

"No. I'm going to start training here, in this pack," he claimed, making my eyes widen.

"Really?" I asked, shocked. His head whipped over to me and he smiled, nodding his head.

"Yes. The Alpha allowed me to stay," he responded, making my smile widen. I walked up to him and pulled him in for a hug, happy that he was going to stay here. He hugged me back before we pulled away. I stared up at him and raised a brow.

"But what changed Mason's mind?" I questioned.

He answered, "it's because my parents are going to stay here, so he allowed me to stay." I nodded and smiled, then backed away.

The office door opened again and three men walked in, they nodded at me in respect and I smiled at them. They then walked up to Gia and my and Adam's parents. "We will be showing you to your room, please come with us." They all nodded and I hugged my parents before they walked out of the office with Mason's men. I was left alone with Lina and Adam. Lina smiled at Adam and pulled him in for a hug.

"I'm happy you're back. I had no one else to annoy while you were gone. Instead, I had to handle a really annoying Ameer," she spoke, pulling away. Adam chuckled and rolled his eyes, before raising a brow.

"Ameer? Who's that?" He questioned. I stepped up and spoke.

"He's one of the pack warriors that came from the allied pack. He and Lina are enemies." I chuckled. "They despise each other." Lina rolled her eyes but shrugged her shoulders.

"He keeps blasting music, which annoys the hell out of me," she spoke, crossing her arms against her chest. "He also keeps spilling his damn coffee on me and acts like it's an accident. You might think that he's all brave and all since he's a pack warrior, but he's a p*ssy who screams like a girl when he lays eyes on me."

Adam laughed out but I rolled my eyes. "He's not bad. He's really friendly but he gave Lina a wrong first impression," I defended, making Lina glare at me. "You should meet him, I'm sure you'll like him." Lina shook her head but when I looked at her, she stopped and offered me an innocent smile.

I rolled my eyes and Adam nodded, smiling. "I'd love to meet the person who annoys the hell out of Lina," he joked, teasing Lina. She growled at him and huffed out before they broke out into an argument. I laughed and stepped back, placing my hand on the door's knob.

"I'm going to go see my parents. You both keep bickering like the usual," I spoke. They both rolled their eyes but paid no more attention to me, and continued arguing. I opened the door and stepped out, shutting the door behind me.

I walked down the hall, trying to figure out which room my parents stayed in. While I was walking, I saw Ameer speed walking towards me. I smiled at him and he stopped, looking down at me with a smile. "Hey, best friend," he greeted, pulling me into a hug.

I pulled away then stared up at him, smiling. "Hey. Where are you going? You look like you're in a hurry." He nodded his head.

"Yeah. The Alpha called us out to the yard. He says it's important," he answered. I nodded, guessing that it had to do about the war that Gia warned us about.

"Ok. You should go before he gets angry," I spoke. He nodded and stepped aside, smiling down at me. He said goodbye before he ran off. He stopped then looked back at me, before running towards me. I raised a brow and he caught his breath, before placing his hand in his pocket.

"I almost forgot," he breathed out, pulling something out from his pocket. "Our friendship bracelets." I smiled as I saw a blue bracelet in his hand that had the writings 'Best Friends' on it. I laughed out and grabbed it in my hands. He raised his hand and wiggled it, showing the exact bracelet that was pink wrapped around his wrist. I chuckled and wore the bracelet, glancing down at my wrist.

"You were serious about the bracelets?" I questioned, amused. He raised a brow and plastered a fake offended expression on his face.

"You were doubting our friendship?" He asked. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

"No. I just thought that you were kidding," I spoke. He shook his head and wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pulling me towards him.

"I sure wasn't," he said. I nodded my head and smiled. "Don't take it off. It symbolizes our amazing friendship." He cheekily smiled down at me. I chuckled and nodded.

"Ok, I won't."

His smile widened and he hugged me, before pulling away. "Great. Now I have to go before the Alpha gets angry." Chuckling, I nodded before he ran away. I shook my head at him and walked off, glancing at the blue bracelet that was on my wrist.

He's one heck of a person

"You ready?" I asked, walking into Adam's room. He greeted me with a smile and nodded, walking towards me. I stepped out of his room and he closed the door behind him, coming to my side.

"Yeah. Training just ended and my wolf is begging to be let out," he muttered. I nodded and we walked side by side out the packhouse. It's been a week since Adam came back and since then, we've been spending time with each other and our families. It felt nice. Them being here has made me realize that I truly missed them.

We've been on high guard, many warriors surrounding the packhouse and borders. I checked on Lina many times, wanting to see if she was ok. She seems pretty fine and not really thinking about what Gia said. However, I knew that she was confused as to how she would prevent the war. We all were.

Shaking those thoughts aside, I walked towards the woods with Adam. As soon as we were deep in the woods, I looked at him. "I'm going to go change," I spoke, pointing at a large tree in the distance. He nodded but stopped, staring straight forward.

I raised a brow at him and he shook his head, letting out a sigh.

"What's wrong?" I questioned. He looked down at me and softly smiled.

"The Alpha called me," he responded. "I have to go. You run without me." I frowned but nodded. He offered me one more smile before he turned around and walked away. I shrugged and walked behind a tree, before taking my clothes off.

I shifted into my wolf and ran. I let the soft wind hit my face as I ran between trees. My fur danced in the air as I ran faster. I ran for a while, making sure I was near the packhouse in case of emergencies. After a moment, I realized that I shouldn't be out of the packhouse for long without someone else.

I ran back to where I placed my clothes and shifted back to my human form. Grabbing my clothes, I wore them. I took a step back, ready to turn around, and walk back to the packhouse when a familiar scent hit my nose. I stopped dead in my track as my back stiffened. Leaves crunching under feet was heard, indicating that someone was walking towards me.

Whipping my head behind me, I was met with the last person I ever wanted to see.

Zander.

My eyes widened and I took a step back, glaring at him. "What are you doing here, Zander?" I asked. He stalked towards me, his fist clenched in a tight grip. "You're not supposed to be on this land." He scoffed and stepped closer to me, making me step back.

"Did you forget that I'm one of Alpha Alex's men?" He questioned, making me frown. "That means I can enter because we are allied packs after all, aren't we?" I growled warningly at him as he took a step closer to me.

"I don't care about that," I hissed. "Mason warned you not to come here."

He let out a growl. "I don't care about that bastard," he sneered, gripping my arms in his hands in a tight grip. "You're mine, and he took you away from me." I cringed at his hold on me, trying to pull away but couldn't because of his hard grip.

I glared at him, feeling my anger rise by the minute. "He took me away from you?" I asked. "Are you serious? It's your fault, not mine, and not Mason's. Don't blame other people when it was completely you. You're the one who tried to kill Adam and who left, Zander. It was your fault."

He growled at my words and I felt his nails dig into my skin. "If I didn't leave then I would be dead right now," he hissed. "And I'm not going to let him take you away from me."

I narrowed my eyes at him, before speaking. "He already did."

His eyes darkened severally and a dangerous growl emerged from within his chest. He slammed me against the tree, making my eyes widen. His grip on me tightened and he looked angry, really angry.

"Zander," I warned. "Just leave. I don't want you near me ever again."

He growled and let go of one of my arms, before digging his hand into his pocket. "If I can't have you, then no one will." My eyes widened at his words and he pulled out a gun from within his pockets, making me stiffen. I stared at him in shock as he pointed the gun at me.

"You're crazy," I whispered. "You're insane." He let out a laugh and shook his head.

"You made me like this, Tiana," he hissed. I glared at him and shook my head.

"No, you were always like this," I whispered. "I wish you actually died that day." His eyes widened before they hardened.

"Too bad you're going to die before me," he sneered. I stood there, ready to shift before he could pull the trigger but stopped when a large silver wolf jumped onto Zander, making my eyes widen. The wolf that I recognized as Mason, dug his teeth into Zander's neck, letting out a loud growl as Zander's cries filled the air.

I watched in shock as Mason tore chunks of flesh from his neck, leaving him still and lifeless on the floor. My eyes widened as I registered the scene in front of me.

Mason killed Zander.

And this time, Zander was actually dead.
