Chapter 60

Hearing a knock at my door, I got up and walked towards it. Grabbing the doorknob, I twisted it and opened the door to see Mason in front of me. I smiled and looked up at him as he stared right back at me. Mason leaned towards me and pecked my cheek, making my smile grow. He then pulled away and stared down at me, a small smile crawling onto his face.

"Good morning," he greeted, grabbing onto my hand. "Are you hungry?" He asked as he stepped closer to me. I nodded and tightened my hold onto his hand.

"Yes. Actually, I'm starving," I responded. He chuckled and nodded, pulling me out of my room.

"Then let's go. I'll make us breakfast," Mason said, making my smile widen. I nodded and turned around, closing the door behind me. I looked back at him then started walking. Mason and I walked hand in hand towards the kitchen in comfortable silence.

I looked up at Mason and smiled. Glancing at me, he smiled back. Mason and I have grown stronger ever since last week. It's been a week since I last saw Zander and since Mason told me about his past. Things have grown stronger between us and I couldn't wish for anything better.

Mason opened the kitchen doors and we walked in. We were greeted by a couple of pack members who nodded at us in respect. I gave them a smile before we walked towards the counter. I sat on a stool as Mason walked towards the fridge.

"What does my Luna want to eat today?" He asked, making me giggle. I could've sworn I heard a couple of 'awes', which made my cheeks heat up. Mason's lips curved up and smirked down at me. I shrugged my shoulders, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I don't know. Pancakes?" I questioned. He nodded and walked towards the cabinet, pulling out a couple of stuff. I watched him with a small smile on my face as he made the pancake batter, making my stomach rumble. Watching him cook was a daily routine for me. He was the one who'd make the food since I didn't know how to cook.

As soon as he was done with the batter, he started making the actual pancakes. I watched him as he flipped the pancakes in awe. He didn't look like an Alpha at the moment. He looked like a cute cuddly bear who loved life. My smile grew and I stood up, walking towards him.

"You never told me, who taught you how to cook?" I asked, stepping closer to him. Mason glanced at me, smiling sadly down at me. He sighed out and looked back at the pile of pancakes that were now on a plate.

"My mother," he whispered. I frowned and grabbed onto his hand, squeezing it in comfort. "She loved to cook, so I would watch her. That's how I learned." I nodded and placed my head on his shoulder. He smiled down at me and placed a kiss on my forehead.

"She sounds lovely," I whispered.

He nodded. "Yes, she was."

I sighed and pulled away, looking up at him. I grabbed his head in my hands and pulled him towards me, placing a soft kiss on his lips. "Mason," I whispered. "You can always talk to me about anything. I'm here for you." His lips curved into a small smile and he nodded.

"I know," he whispered. "Thank you."

Placing one last kiss on my lips, he turned around and grabbed the plate of pancakes. We sat down and started eating in silence. I was enjoying my pancakes when Mason placed his fork on the table, staring forward. Furrowing my brows, I looked at him in confusion.

His eyes hardened as he stared into space. After a couple of seconds, he snapped out of it and stood up within an instant. My eyes widened as a low growl emerged from his chest. Standing up, I grabbed his hand.

"Mason," I spoke. "What's wrong?"

He looks at me and turned around, speed walking towards the kitchen doors. I ran behind him and placed my hand on his arm. "Mason. What's wrong?" I asked for the second time.

He snapped his head over at me. "My men found a vampire right outside the borders. They were able to catch him because he was weak since he was exposed to the sun." Mason answered. My eyes widened as my mouth hung open.

What's up with all the vampires?

"Where are you going?" I asked, he looked over at me and his eyes hardened.

"I'm going to question him," Mason responded. "You stay here." I shook my head and tightened my hold onto his arm.

"No. I'm coming with you," I argued. Mason growled lowly and shook his head.

"Tiana. Stay here," he ordered. I shook my head again and gave him a pointed look, telling him I wasn't going to budge. "Did you forget that I'm the Luna? I have the right to come with you and witness what's going to happen. I want answers too."

He sighed out in frustration and ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head. "You're impossible," he muttered under his breath. He then turned around and started walking. "Let's go." I nodded and walked behind him. We walked towards the dungeons in silence. As soon as we were in front of the doors, the guards nodded their heads and opened them.

The familiar stench of blood and death hit me. Shaking my head, I ignored it and walked in the dungeons with Mason by my side. I was met with darkness as we walked deeper into the dungeons. The dungeons were filled with groans and whimpers from the prisoners that were inside the cells.

I stopped dead in my track as soon as Mason stopped in front of a cell. I winced once I heard hissing. Mason wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me to him, bring me comfort. The guards that were guarding the cell nodded at us before opening the dark, dim cell.

Mason and I walked into the cell with a couple of guards with us. My eyes widened as I saw the vampire in front of me. He was chained to the wall, hissing, and groaning. Mason let out a dangerous growl and stalked towards him. The vampire snapped his head over at us and his eyes widened, especially after he laid eyes on me.

He hissed at us and Mason grabbed his neck, slamming his head against the wall. "P-Please. Let me go," the vampire croaked, his eyes widening in fear. "I-I didn't do anything."

"Why were you outside my borders?" Mason sneered, tightening his grip on the vampire's neck.

"I wasn't doing anything," the vampire responded, making Mason growl.

"I'll repeat myself one more time. Why were you outside my border?" Mason yelled, making me cringe. The vampire closed his eyes, before opening them and glancing at me, then back at Mason. "He..he sent me here." My eyes widened and so did Mason. Mason sneered out and let out a low growl.

"Who? And why?" Mason questioned. The vampire shook his head, looking scared.

"I-I can't say," he stuttered. "He'd kill me if he found out I told you." I furrowed my brows in confusion and Mason slammed his head against the wall again.

"I'll kill you if you don't tell me," Mason whispered dangerously in a low tone. "And I'll make your death slow and painful." The vampire's eyes widened in fear and nodded his head.

"I'll tell you. I'll tell you everything, just please don't kill me," the vampire begged. Mason nodded for him to continue. "My Alpha. He is the one sending us here." Mason furrowed brows.

"Alpha?" He questioned.

The vampire nodded. "Yes. He is an Alpha of rogues and vampires, combined. He started the pack a long time ago and it slowly grew. He's sending us here because he wants her," the vampire spoke, pointing his head at me. My eyes widened and Mason let out a growl.

An Alpha of rogues and vampires wants me?

"Why?" Mason growled, tightening his hold on his neck. The vampire struggled against him but continued. "I don't know. All I know is that he wants her because she's half-angel." Mason hissed and the vampires pleaded for his mercy.

"I swear. That's all I know. Please, don't kill me."

"What's your Alpha's name and where does his pack lie?" Mason questioned. The vampire shook his head, making Mason growl at him and slam his head against the wall.

"His name is Alpha Roy. His pack is far from here and it's surrounded by many rogues and vampires, so they could take you down easily," the vampire responded. Mason's jaw clenched and he tightened his hold against him. "Where is his pack?" Mason asked, lowly. The vampire gulped and nodded his head in defeat. The vampire told him where the pack was, which lied in a deserted land that everyone thought was abandoned.

Mason let go of his neck but let out a loud, frustrated growl. I ran up to him and grabbed his hands. Mason looked over at me and his dark eyes softened. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me out of the cell. His arm tightened around me and we walked out of the dungeons.

He looked mad, very mad. I didn't know what to do, so I just stayed silent. After a while, we walked back to the packhouse. I looked up at Mason to see him looking forwards, his eyes pitch black. My frown deepened and I grabbed his hand.

"Mason," I whispered, making him look at me. "What are you going to do?" His eyes softened and he ran a hand through his hair, letting out a deep sigh.

"I don't know, Tiana," he whispered. "I don't know. For now, I'm going to send a couple of my men to investigate the pack from afar. There isn't much I can do. I already tripled the security yet they still manage to get to us. I don't know anymore."

I bit my lip and looked down. He was right. We had high security yet we would still encounter rogues and vampires. And what's more confusing is that it was like they knew when we'd leave the pack or not. Like they had eyes following us wherever we went.

The realization hit me, making my eyes widen. I snapped my head up at Mason, seeing him looking at me, intensely.

"Mason," I whispered.

"What is it?" He questioned, stepping close to me.

"What if we have someone in the pack that's telling them our every move?" I asked, making his eyes widen. "Think about it. Whenever we get out of the pack, we encounter a rogue or vampire." Mason's eyes darken and a low growl escaped his lips. He turned around and stalked towards the packhouse.

I frowned and followed him.

"Mason," I yelled, running up to him. "Where are you going?" He glanced at me but continued to walk.

"To my office. I need to think," he whispered. I sighed out but nodded. We walked in the packhouse and up the stairs. As soon as we were in front of the office, I looked up at him. I smiled softly at him and he sighed out, pulling me towards his chest.

"Don't worry," I whispered. "Everything will be ok."

Letting out another sigh, he nodded his head. "I won't let anything happen to you. I swear," he promised, making a smile form on my lips. I nodded and he ran his hand through my hair, playing with it.

"I know," I whispered before pulling away so I could look up at him. He nodded and opened his office door.

"I need to be alone for now so I could think. I'll stop by your room and see you," Mason claimed. I nodded and smiled a comforting smile at him.

"Ok," I breathed out. "Let me know if anything happens."

He nodded.

Smiling one last smile, I turned around and walked away but stopped when I heard someone running towards us. I turned around and saw a guard running towards Mason, stopping in front of him as he caught his breath. Mason looked at him questioningly and the guard stood straight, before saying something that made my heart rate speed up.

"Alpha," the guard breathed out. "There are five people outside the pack borders. And two of them claim to be the Luna's parents."
