Chapter 59
"Do you have to leave?" I asked, looking up at Adam with a pout on my face. He chuckled and nodded, pulling me in for a hug.
"Yes, Tiana. I have to," he responded, making me sigh out in defeat. I nodded as the pout deepened. We pulled away and Adam offered me a sad smile, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Don't be sad, I'll come back to visit." I nodded and smiled up at him, punching him softly on the chest.
"Thanks for everything, Idiot," I joked. He raised a brow at me but then pouted, placing a sad expression over his features.
"Idiot? Is that what you say to your best friend who's leaving?" Adam questioned, making my smile grow. I nodded and giggled once Adam started tickling me, making me beg for him to stop. I gasped for air as my face turned red due to the extreme laughter.
"Ok, ok. You're not an idiot," I gasped as he stopped tickling me. He smiled a goofy smile down at me, making me laugh out. I ran my hand through my hair and breathed in, smiling softly up at him. Adam pulled me in for another hug and I sighed against his chest, wrapping my arms around his body.
We were out in the yard, reading to say goodbye to Adam before he left. Unfortunately, he couldn't stay longer. He just stayed for a couple of hours before he had to leave. I frowned as I thought of that. If only he could stay for a couple of days.
I sighed out again as I thought about today. Today was something I'd like to erase from my memory. I was still overwhelmed and shook but Adam and Mason were able to calm me down.
I felt someone grab my hand as little sparks erupted from the contact. The hand-pulled me away from Adam, making us break the hug. I looked up at Mason and smiled. He smiled down at me but then looked up at Adam, before frowning. Adam let out an awkward cough and took a step back, smiling softly at me.
"I'll see you later, Tiana," Adam whispered as a couple of guards walked up to us so they could accompany Adam back to the other pack. I waved at him softly, feeling the familiar feeling of upset overcome me.
"Bye, Adam," I spoke. Adam smiled at me one more time before turning around, stepping a couple of steps away from us.
"Adam," Mason called out, making him stop and turn around. I furrowed my brows at Mason in confusion. I stared at Mason then at Adam, waiting for Mason to speak. Mason cleared his throat and glanced at me, then at Adam before nodding.
"Thanks for everything," Mason said lowly, making me smile. Adam's eyes widened and his lips broke out into a grin. He nodded his head before glancing at me then back at him.
"Anytime, Alpha," he spoke before turning around and walking away with the guards. My smile widened as I stared at Mason. He looked down at me and smiled softly, placing a gentle kiss on my lips. We soon pulled away and stared at each other.
We were pulled out of our gaze when a guard came running towards us. Mason snapped his head over at him and furrowed his brows.
"Alpha," the guard breathed out, catching his breath. He stood straight and looked at Mason, who was frowning.
"What is it?" Mason asked, looking serious. The guard glanced at me then back at Mason, before speaking.

"There is a man from the Black Blood pack who demands on seeing the Luna," the guard said, making my eyes widen. "He's right outside the borders." Mason's eyes narrowed and a low, deep growl escaped his lips. I grabbed onto his hand as his eyes hardened. Mason opened his mouth but stopped when we heard someone shouting.
"Come back here," a man yelled. "You're not supposed to be here without the Alpha's permission." Mason and I whipped our heads over to the sounds as we listened to who sounds like a guard yell at someone.
"F*ck off," a familiar voice yelled. "I'm here to see my mate." My eyes widened as I registered the voice in my head. My grip on Mason's hand tightened and Mason immediately wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him.
Out of nowhere, two guards came out from the woods as they tried to pull an angry Zander away from us. My mouth opened as I stared at him. His and my eyes locked, something glinting in his eyes. I felt Mason's hand tighten around me, making me glance up at him.
He was glaring at Zander with pure hatred. I looked back to see Zander yelling at the guards before he glanced at me. His eyes went to the hold Mason had on me, a growl escaping his chest. Zander's eyes darkened and he pushed the guards off of him, before stalking towards us in furry.
What is he doing here? Who does he think he is walking into this pack like he owns it?
"What are you doing on my land?" Mason growled as he walked closer to us. Zander's eyes darkened and he stared between him and me, another dangerous growl escaping his lips.
"What are you doing with my mate?" He yelled, glaring at me. I furrowed my brows in anger and stepped closer to Mason. Who does he think he is? I opened my mouth, ready to say something when Mason beat me to it.
"She's not your mate," he roared, pushing me behind him as he stepped closer to Zander. "She's my mate." Zander's eyes widened and he looked between him and I, before furrowing his brows in anger.
"Your mate?" Zander growled. "She's not your mate! She's mine." Before I could stop him, Mason took a step forward and threw a punch to his jaw, making him fall to the ground in pain. Zander gripped his jaw as his eyes darkened severally, growling out at him.
"She's mine," Mason growled, stepping closer to him. "She will stay mine and don't even think she'll ever be yours." Zander stood on his feet, staring at both of us in anger. He growled out and looked over at me, his eyes darkening once he laid eyes on me.
"How could you do that?" He growled. "You're supposed to be mine." His eyes darkened even more once he laid eyes on the mark I had on my neck. He let out another growl and I narrowed my eyes at him in anger.
"Do what?" I yelled. "You're the one who left me. You're the one who betrayed me. You expect me to come running into your arms after I find out that you're alive?" I growled. Zander's eyes widened and he took a step towards me, making me step back. "I have a mate, and that's not you. So leave us alone and stay away from our lives."
Zander looked at me in disbelief, before he glanced at Mason.

"This is your mate?" He growled, pointing at Mason. "He's a monster," Zander yelled. "You'd choose a monster over me?" I growled out in anger and stalked towards him, but Mason's grip on me prevented me from walking up to him and throwing a punch at him.
"The only monster here is you," I hissed, glaring at him. "You ruined my life and the only thing Mason did is make my life better. So f*ck off, Zander." Zander's jaw clenched and he took a step forward, looking into Mason's eyes. A growl emerged from within his chest before he looked at me.
"Your mate over here," he spoke, pointing at Mason, "is a monster. Did you forget about what he does? He kills people. He killed his f*ckin parents." My eyes widened as those words escaped his lips and before I could comprehend it, Mason leaped at him and threw a punch to his face. Zander fell to the ground for the second time today, groaning in pain.
Mason threw a couple of more punches at him before he got up at glared at the guards. The guards immediately grabbed Zander and pulled him up, pulling him away. Zander looked up at me, before looking at Mason. His eyes went back on me and they darkened with rage.
"I'll get you back," he yelled as the guards pulled him away. "I won't let anyone else have you." I cringed at his words but Mason wrapped his arms around me, pulling me to his chest. When Zander was out of sight, I let out a big sigh and closed my eyes, inhaling Mason's scent.
"Don't worry, Tiana," Mason whispered in my ear, making my nerves relax from his voice. "I won't let him touch a strand of your hair." I smiled softly and nodded, looking up at Mason with adoration. His eyes sparkled with love and his hands tightened around me.
"I know," I spoke. "I believe in you." He leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on my lips. I sighed out as I wrapped my hands around his neck. Before we could deepen the kiss, he stopped and pulled away abruptly. My brows furrowed as I stared at him in confusion.
Mason's eyes hardened before they softened with a sad glint in his eyes. I frowned as I stared up at him. Mason avoided my eyes and stared somewhere else. My frown deepened and I cupped his cheek, pulling his attention towards me.
"Mason," I whispered. "What's wrong?" His eyes looked down at me before he sighed.
"Tiana, I don't want you thinking badly of me," Mason finally spoke. "I don't want you thinking of me as a monster." My eyes widened and I immediately caught on to what he was trying to say. I shook my head, looking into his beautiful eyes.
"No, Mason. I would never think badly of you. I don't care what rumors there are about you," I exclaimed. His eye softened and his arms around me tightened.
"But some of those rumors are true," he whispered. "I've killed people before. Maybe I am a monster." I shook my head and grabbed his head in my hands, pulling him closer to me.
"I don't care what you've done. Those are all in the past," I argued. "And even if you are a monster, you're my monster." I grinned. His pouting lips turned into a grin, making me smile. I pulled him towards me and kissed his lips. His lips moved against mine perfectly. He sighed out before pulling away.
"I think it's time for you to know everything, everything about my past," Mason whispered.
I shook my head and frowned. "Mason, if you're not ready then you don't have to." Mason shook his head and smiled down at me.
"No more secrets. I don't want anything between us," he said gently. I bit my lip and nodded, running my hand through his hair.
"Ok, no more secrets."
Smiling down at me, he spoke. "When I was young, Lina and I didn't have such a great childhood," he started, looking down at me with a sad expression. Guessing that the memories weren't something he'd like to remember, I held onto his hand.
"My father wasn't the mate he was supposed to be to my mother. In front of everyone, he was the perfect mate, but behind doors, he was a whole different person. Abusive, not just physically but mentally. My mother didn't deserve all that, neither did Lina and I. My mother was the main target, but once in a while he'd turn the target to Lina or me," Mason explained, eyes darkening as he spoke about his past.
I pulled him closer to me and held onto both his hands before he spoke again. "One day, my father turned all his anger on Lina. He beat her to the verge of death. I tried to stop him, but I wasn't able to. But my mother grabbed a chair and hit him with it. She saved Lina's life. He was angry, really angry. So he.." He stopped, closing his eyes before opening them. He stared down at me with a sad, broken expression. His eyes blurred, a lonely tear falling off his cheek.
"He killed her," he whispered.
My eyes widened.
"I was always a mommy's boy. She was my everything, along with Lina. That day turned me into a different person. That night while he was asleep, I mustered all the strength I had and tried to kill him. He was always stronger than me, but that night I was a different person. I didn't kill him though, I didn't have the courage to. He started to be weak since he lost his mate. Even though he never cared about her, his wolf did. So I was able to claim the Alpha position," Mason explained. "Those rumors that I killed my parents are false. I didn't kill them."
I looked into his eyes as he explained. I felt my heart drop at his past. I couldn't imagine him and Lina going through that. "What happened to your father?" I asked. He sighed out, gulping.
"Here, I'll show you," he whispered, tugging onto my hand. I frowned but walked beside him as he walked towards the dungeons. My frown deepened but I remained silent. We stopped in front of the dungeon doors and he turned to look at me, sighing out.
"I threw him in the dungeons. I knew killing him would be an easy way out. So I make him suffer," he spoke. "I want him to wish that he was dead. To wish that he was not the man he was." I nodded slowly, registering everything in my head.
All I wanted to do right now was pull him in for a hug. What he was doing to his father didn't make me feel any different about him. His father deserves what's happening to him. He deserves it all.
Mason looked down at me. I held onto his hand and gave it a tight squeeze. He smiled down at me and turned around, pulling me away from the doors. I frowned and shook my head, pulling him back. "I want to see him," I spoke gently. His eyes widened and immediately, he shook his head.
"No. I can't let you see him," he whispered.
"Please. I want to know everything about you. I want to see the man who made you go through hell." Mason sighed out then nodded.
"Fine. But only from afar. I don't want you near him," he spoke. I nodded and he opened the dungeon doors, pulling me inside. I gulped as the smell of blood and death filled my nostrils. Cringing, I ignored it and walked behind Mason. He stopped and I stepped beside him, seeing where he was looking.
His eyes were pitch black. I followed his stare and looked at a dark cell. Squinting, I saw a skinny body laying on the floor. I looked around the dungeon and that's when I noticed that in front of the cell the man was in, was the cell I stayed in when we first came here.
The man that was in the cell was groaning. Mason wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him, guessing for comfort. Out of nowhere, the man started screaming. "Someone get me food. I'm starving," he yelled as he continued to groan.
And that's when my eyes widened. His voice was familiar, I heard that voice before. And that's when it hit me. He was the man that Adam and I talked to when we were in here. He was saying that we'd never find a way out of this place. The man who was talking to us was Mason's father.
"I've been in here for years and I never found a way out, I know the pack like the back of my hand yet I never managed to get out."
Now it all makes sense. He was the Alpha yet he couldn't get out, so he was discouraging us from the thought of escaping.
Mason tugged on my hand as the man in front of us continued to scream. I looked up at him and nodded, tightening my hand around him. I glanced one more time at the cell before we turned around and walked out of the dungeons. I deeply inhaled before looking up at Mason with a sad expression.
"I'm sorry that you had to go through all that," I whispered. He smiled down at me and shook his head.
"Don't be. Now that you're in my life, I'm extremely happy." I smiled at his words and kissed his lips. "Me too," I whispered against his lips. His smile widened and he placed another gentle kiss on my lips before we walked hand in hand towards the packhouse.
