Chapter 55

"What the-" I was immediately caught off when the vampire in front of me grabbed me by my arms and pulled me out of the car, aggressively, and threw me to the ground. I let out a scream as I tried to stand on my feet, but was instead pulled up by strong hands as sharp nails dug into my skin.

I let out another scream, hoping that Mason would hear and come fast. The vampire turned me around so I was facing him, making my eyes widen. His smirk grew as I tried to release myself from his hard grip. I growled at him with made him hiss back at me.

"Finally, I got you. Alpha will be pleased," he murmured, a chuckle of satisfaction escaping his lips. My eyes widened and I let out another growl at him, ready to shift into my wolf.

What is he talking about? Alpha?

I drastically pushed my questions aside. It was not the time to ask anything. I didn't know where Mason was but I hoped that this bloodsucker didn't do anything to him. Without a second thought, I used my powers to turn invisible, catching him off guard. I moved out of his loosened grip and went behind his shock form. I immediately shifted into my wolf, taking him by surprise. He hissed at me, showing his pointy fangs. I jumped towards him, sinking my teeth into his neck.

He let out a loud, painful cry as I ripped a chunk of skin from his neck. His eyes hardened and with his vampire strength, he pushed me away, making me fall to the ground. He hissed out at me, raging with fury. I growled at him, warningly. However, he jumped on me and sunk his fangs into my neck, making me whimper out in pain.

"If he didn't want you, I would have killed you right now and right here," the vampire spoke in my ear. I let out another growl as the vampire dug his fangs into my neck once again. I howled out in pain, forcing my eyes to remain open. I mustered all the strength I had left and pushed him off of me, then immediately jumped on him. I growled at his face and dug my teeth into his injured neck, ending his life without a second thought.

As soon as I was sure he was dead, I backed away and shifted into my human form. I stood there naked, staring at the still body that was flooding in its own blood. His words registered in my head and I growled at his dead form.

"Too bad I killed you first," I growled to myself.

I glanced at the dead body one more time before turning around and running to where Mason went. I felt no hint of remorse towards killing him. He was a vampire who attacked me first, so it was self-defense. If it was out of hatred then I would have felt guilty, but he was the one who tried to kidnap me or kill me.

I ran towards the hidden place, not caring that I was naked. Mason didn't show up, and I started to worry. Many scenarios ran through my head which made my heart fall to my stomach. I forced those thoughts aside.

I shouldn't think like that.

My eyes widened when I laid eyes on an unconscious Mason, blood flowing from his side. I immediately ran up to him and kneeled down to my knees. I choked on my own breath as I saw a needle sticking out of Mason's neck, making my heart stop.

"Mason," I whispered, shaking my head. "No, no, no, no." A couple of tears fell out of my eyes and I grabbed the needle but hissed out in pain. My heart rate sped up as I comprehend everything.

The vampire injected Mason with silver.

I held back a sob that threatened to escape and I grabbed onto the needle one more time, ignoring the pain, and pulled it out of his neck. I shook his body, in an attempt to wake him up somehow but was left with a still Mason. I cried out in fear, in fear that something happened to him, and immediately sent a message through the mind link to Nick to come here and bring Sam with him.

I bit bag that sob and grabbed Mason's face with my hand, trying to soothe him with my touch.

They say a mate's touch can heal anything.

"Please, Mason," I whispered. "Wake up. Please."

I closed my eyes and placed my hands on his chest. I concentrated on my angel powers and tried to muster all the strength I had in me to heal him. After seconds, I opened my eyes. Since I used my angel powers awhile ago, I didn't have much strength left, but I used all the power I had in me to try to save Mason's life so I felt extremely exhausted. Hopefully, my healing power was able to retract most of the silver.

I kissed his forehead then lips, hoping that he'd be ok. This gave me another reason not to feel any remorse towards that vampire. A couple of tears fell out of my eye but I immediately wiped them away. I stood up and with all the strength I had left, I pulled Mason out of the hidden place and towards the car, so when Nick and Sam came they wouldn't take long in looking for us.

I snapped my head up when I heard many people running towards us. In less than a second, I was met by Nick, many pack warriors, and Sam. They all ran up to us and I let out a sigh of relief, happy that they didn't take long. Sam ran up to Mason with a bag in his hand and started taking stuff out. Nick came to my side and looked at me with worry.

"What happened, Tiana?" He asked.

I breathed in, gaining my breath. "A vampire," I whispered, pointing to the direction I killed him. "He attacked us. But I already killed him," I told Nick then turned to Sam. "He injected Mason with silver." Sam nodded his head and Nick told some pack warriors to head to the direction I pointed at. They ran off and that's when I noticed Ameer running towards me.

He took off his shirt and handed it to me. That's when I realized that I was naked in front of a bunch of males, but I was too worried about Mason to even care. I took his shirt and wore it before thanking him. He smiled sympathetically at me and I sighed out, grabbing onto Mason's hand.

Sam mentioned that he had to take care of Mason here because if we took him in the car and drove to the packhouse then it might be dangerous for his health. He had to act fast. After a while, Sam sighed out and smiled at me.

"Thankfully, he didn't inject much silver into him. And since he's an Alpha, he should heal fast," Sam assured, making me smile out in relief. I knew that was because I healed him a bit with my angel powers. I sighed and placed a hand over my beating heart. "He just needs to stay on heavy medications." I nodded my head and rubbed my thumb over his hand.

"That's a relief," I muttered, kissing his hand.

Sam smiled at me and went back to aiding Mason. "I recommend you to stay with him at all times. Your touch with soothe him and might make him heal faster," Sam spoke. I nodded my head but remained silent. I wasn't leaving his side whether or not I'd help him.

I looked up when I heard someone running towards us. The pack warriors that ran off to where the vampire was came running towards us with worried expressions. I furrowed my brows as one warrior ran to Nick.

"The vampire, he's not there," he said, catching his breath. Nick's eyes widened and so did mine.

"What are you talking about?" Nick growled, glancing at me before looking back at the warrior that was in front of him.

"We couldn't find any vampire. The only thing we found was a pool of blood," the warrior responded. Nick cursed out and sent the pack warriors to search the area. I looked down at Mason in confusion.

I'm sure I killed him.

Sam stood up, making me look up at him. "We should take him back to the packhouse," he whispered. I nodded my head and two pack warriors came and carried Mason carefully. My heart broke at that sight. He looked vulnerable and weak, a sight I was not used to seeing.

The warriors took him to the car and laid him in the back seat, his head laying on my lap. Nick sat in the driver's seat as Sam sat next to him. He immediately drove off and I held onto Mason's unconscious body. I ran my hand through his hair and kissed him softly.

I just wanted him to wake up already.

His breathing rate was back to normal, which calmed my nerves. I softly rubbed my thumb over his face, noticing that he relaxed under my touch. I smiled softly before lingering another soft kiss on his lips.

It didn't take long until we reached the packhouse. The pack warriors came to our side and carried Mason into the packhouse. I ran behind them as they took Mason up to his room. We received many curious stares as we walked into the packhouse. An unconscious Alpha was something to worry about. Lots of pack members watched us in fear and confusion and many shot questions at me, but I only offered them small smiles before I ran off.

As soon as we were in Mason's room, they softly placed him on his bed. Sam came walking into the room and offered me a smile. He walked up to Mason and injected a needle in him. After a while of injecting him with things I didn't know, he looked up at me and placed his equipment back in the bag.

"I was able to retract most of the silver from his system. He should be waking up soon," Sam spoke, making me smile. "However, he still needs healing and he should rest for a couple of days." I nodded my head and sat next to Mason.

"Thanks so much, Sam. I'll make sure he gets the rest he needs."

Sam glanced at my neck, noticing the bite the vampire made. Sam walked up to me, grabbing his bag. "Let me inspect the bite," he said. I nodded and he touched the bite, making me wince.

"It's not deep, but needs a few stitches," he muttered, grabbing a needle from his bag. "Looks like from the bite, there isn't much venom in your system. I'll just inject you with something to get rid of the venom within a few hours," he explained, then grabbed something else. I remained silent as he injected me with something, making me close my eyes. He then stitched my wound, with me wincing every once awhile. After he was done, he cleaned it and patched it up. Sam backed away with a smile, pulling out something from his bag.

"Take these, they'll help with the pain." He handed me a box of pills. "Make sure you rest too."

I smiled and took it. "Ok. Thanks, Sam"

Sam nodded his head and smiled at me one more time. "There's no need to thank me. I'm only doing my job," he said softly before glancing at Mason then back at me. "I will come back to give you the medication he needs." Once I nodded, he was out the door.

I let out a sigh and looked over at Mason, pulling the blanket over his body. I cupped his cheek with my hand and kissed him gently on his cheek.

I was so thankful that he was ok. I was terrified that something would happen to him. I don't know what I would have done if something happened to him. I shook my head and glanced back at him. I went under the covers and brought my body next to his, wrapping an arm around his body. Inhaling his scent, I closed my eyes and thought about today.

How come someone always has to ruin our night?

I grunted at the memory and couldn't help the weird feeling that overcame me. The disappearance of the vampire's body made a shiver run down my spine. There were two explanations. Either I didn't kill him and he got up on his own and ran away.

Or someone else came and took his body.

I shook my head and pushed those thoughts aside, snuggling into Mason's chest and welcoming sleep.

I opened my eyes once I felt Mason stir. I immediately sat up and stared at him. Mason stirred and groaned, making me grab his hand. As soon as I did that, his eyes shot open. I smiled out in relief and Mason looked at me with confusion.

"What happened?" He groaned, hissing in pain.

I ignored his comment and hugged him, feeling my eyes water. "Thank goodness you're ok," I whispered against his chest. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

"It's ok. I'm fine," he whispered in my ear. "Are you ok? The last thing I remember was blacking out. What happened?" I sighed out and pulled my face out of his chest, looking up at him.

"A vampire attacked us," I whispered. Mason's eyes widened, his arms around me tightening. His eyes darkened dangerously.

"A vampire?" He growled, lowly.

I nodded. "Yeah.."

"Did he hurt you-"

"I took care of it," I caught him off, smiling softly. "You should have seen me. I kicked his ass," I chuckled, trying to light up the mood. His hard eyes relaxed and the corner of his lip turned up.

"You did?" He asked. I nodded my head

"Yeah. He was able to get a few bites on me though," I muttered, touching the place he bit me. Mason's eyes hardened as he stared at my wound. Before he could even say anything, I spoke, "but I'm ok. I thought I killed him but the warriors couldn't find his body. But that doesn't matter, for now, I was really worried about you."

Mason sighed out and cupped my cheek, leaving a soft kiss on my lips.

"I'm sorry that our night was ruined," Mason whispered, pulling away from the kiss. "I'll make it up to you."

I shook my head. "Mason, you have nothing to be sorry about. I'm just glad you're ok."

He smiled softly and pulled me in for another kiss. I sighed against his lips as my tense muscles relaxed within his hold. I moved my lips against his. Mason kissed me passionately, making me forget about what happened. I held his face in my hands as he kissed me softly.

Mason slowly pulled away and looked into my eyes.

"As long as you're with me, I'll be fine."
