Chapter 54
I walked to the bathroom as soon as I was finished dressing. I grabbed mascara and lipgloss then looked in the mirror. I started to apply them and once I was finished, I observed myself before smiling. I was getting ready for our date tonight. I didn't know when he would come and pick me up so I just started getting dressed.
Saying I was nervous was an understatement. I don't think I've been this nervous for a long time. I guess maybe because I haven't been on a date for a while. And going with Mason was something big for me.
Thinking about Mason made my smile grow. Mason and I have grown so strong over the past few days and I felt like our bond was growing stronger and stronger by the minute. It was bizarre for me, especially since I promised myself to never feel these types of feelings anymore, but it was clear that I didn't keep my promise.
It was hard for me at first, but I guess I couldn't keep that promise to myself anymore. I knew if I kept it then I wouldn't be happy, so I let it go and moved on. It was better this way. Adam was right, Mason was filling the empty holes that were in my heart, and I was slowly healing.
I let out a deep breath and slowly walked out of the bathroom. I grabbed some comfortable shoes that might or might have not gone well with the dress I was wearing but I didn't care honestly. He did say to wear something I was comfortable with.
Once I was done, I glanced at my bed and frowned when I saw a small piece of paper lying on my pillow. I just noticed that now. I walked up to it and wondered how long it was lying there. I picked up the paper and smiled once I saw Mason's familiar handwriting. I read it and my smile widened, I was sure my eyes were twinkling with happiness.
I'll come pick you up at 8. I'm going to make you touch the stars tonight.
~Mason
I giggled and placed the note on top of my desk. I wonder what he meant by that? Touch the stars? I shook my head and ran a hand through my hair. I glanced at the clock to see it was 8 PM. I looked at the mirror one more time in satisfaction and backed away once I heard footsteps.
After a moment a soft knock was on my door, making me wipe the sweat that was on my hands against my clothing. I slowly walked up to my door and turned the knob, opening it to see a well dressed Mason staring right at me.
"Hey," I whispered. His eyes roamed over my body and I shifted in my place, nervous from his stare. He took a step closer to me and smiled softly at me.
"Hello, beautiful," he murmured, pulling me in for a hug. He wrapped his arms around my waist, he inhaled my scent, making me smile. I soon pulled away and stared up at him with adoration. I leaned forwards and placed a lingering kiss onto his lips. Once I pulled away, I was greeted with his beautiful orbs.
"I missed you," he whispered, tightening his arms around my waist, protectively. I let out a small laugh and shook my head.
"I saw you a couple of hours ago," I spoke, amusingly. He grunted and shrugged his shoulders.
"Longest hours of my life," Mason said softly, making my cheeks heat up. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I stared into his eyes as he looked down at me with a small smile.

"So where are we going?" I asked him. Mason took a step back and grabbed onto my hand, pulling me out of my room. He squeezed my hand and started walking with me by his side.
"You'll see," he responded, making me pout. He glanced at me and his eyes lit up sigh amusement. I nudged his side with my elbow and grunted. He let out a deep chuckle which made my pout disappear and was immediately replaced with a grin.
"I want to know now," I whined, making him shake his head. He stared down at me as a sly smile crossed his features.
"Now that wouldn't be fun, would it?" Mason question.
I groaned and shook my head. "No," I groaned. Mason pulled onto my hand and we started walking again. While we were walking in the packhouse we received a couple of stares but this time, those stares filled with adoration and happiness. We were greeted by some pack members on the way to the front door. I noticed the change in the way they treated me and I was quite happy with that. I was happy that they were accepting me for being Mason's mate and their Luna. It made me more confident about being with Mason.
As soon as we were out of the packhouse, Mason pulled me towards his car and opened the door for me. I smiled up at him and sat in the car. He closed the door and walked to the other side of the car. "What a gentleman," I said to myself as he sat next to me in the driver's seat. He looked at me, guessing he heard. I laughed and he only shook his head.
"Who knew that you had a side like this," I told him, smiling. He looked over at me and his orbs darkened as they stared right at me.
"Only you," he whispered, making my smile drop. I bit my lips and I could've sworn I felt my heart skip a beat. "You're the only one who gets to see this side." My smile reappeared and I grabbed onto his hand and squeezed it. He looked at me with love present in his eyes, making my smile grow.
"I love you," I whispered with so much honesty in my voice. His eyes twinkled with happiness and he raised my hand that was in his hold and lingered a soft kiss on it. He then looked at me and smiled.
"I love you, too."
Mason slowly let go of my hand and placed his hands on the steering wheel. I let out a satisfied breath and smiled back at him. He soon started the car and drove off. I sat in comfortable silence as I stared out the window. I watched as we passed many trees that made it look like they were moving. I glanced up to the sky to see stars shining brightly down at us.
Seeing the stars made me remember what he wrote on the note, leading a smile to crawl onto my lips.
"So, how are you going to make me touch the stars tonight?" I asked, looking at him. His lips turned into a smirk and he glanced at me, before looking back at the roads.
"You'll see," he spoke with a hint of amusement laced in his voice. I huffed out and crossed my arms against my chest.
"Is that all you say?" I grunted in annoyance. A deep chuckle escaped his mouth, making me roll my eyes.

"For now, yes," Mason answered, staring at the road. I rolled my eyes another time but remained quiet and looked out the window. I noticed that we were now driving in some kind of woods, which was quite creepy, especially since it was night time.
However, I didn't say a thing, knowing that Mason brought me here for a reason and not to kidnap me and kill me.
"Is this the part when I ask if you're some kind of psycho in disguise wanting to steal my organs?" I questioned, teasingly at him. He let out a laugh, making me smile. Mason glanced at me before speaking.
"The only thing I'll be stealing tonight is your heart."
My eyes widened and I felt my heart skip a beat. He smiled at me and I let out a chuckle.
"How cheesy," I muttered, making him raise a brow at me. I glanced out the window and smiled. "You already did."
Mason soon parked in front of an area full of bushes. I looked around the place in confusion.
What are we doing here?
He hopped out of the car and walked to my side before opening the door for me. I stepped out of the car and took his hand in mine. He pulled me to him and offered me a smile before we started walking. I walked by his side and looked at my surroundings. We were surrounded by nature, trees, and grasses.
Mason leaned into my ear and whispered, making a shiver run down my spine. "Close your eyes." I did and he started leading me the way. We walked in silence which made me listen to the nature around me that brought me comfort.
After a while of walking, Mason stopped and stepped closer to me.
"When I said that I'm going to make you touch the stars tonight, this is what I meant," he whispered into my ear, making my curiosity grow. "Open your eyes."
I opened my eyes and stared at what was in front of me. My mouth hung open as I took in the beautiful sight that was in front of us. It was marvelous and spectacular in many ways. It was beautiful. In front of me was some kind of hidden place that was surrounded by bushes and trees, it looked like a place that was hidden from everyone else, untouched. There were flowers everywhere which made the place even prettier. But that wasn't what caught my attention.
It was how the place was filled with fireflies.
Many fireflies surrounded us, lighting up the dark place. I gaped at the scene in front of me. I reached my hand out and took a firefly in my hand, smiling at it. The firefly flew out of my hand and I let out a small laugh as I stared around us. I glanced at Mason to see him smiling down at me.
This is what he meant by touching the stars. There were many fireflies that it made it look like stars have fallen from the sky. It was something that I have never witnessed before.
"Mason," I whispered as another firefly flew on my hand, making my smile widen. "It's beautiful." The firefly flew out of my hand. I stared up at Mason and he was staring at me with so much happiness. "I love it," I breathed out.
"I'm happy you do," he whispered, pulling me further into the small, beautiful place. We started walking and that's when I saw a blanket lying on the floor with a basket next to it.
Looks like he planned it all out.
I smiled as he led me to the blanket and sat on it. "I brought you here because I thought it was a nice place to sit down and eat," Mason spoke, looking around the place.
I nodded my head.
"It is. How did you find this place?" I questioned, looking around the trees that surrounded us. "It looks hidden."
Mason nodded. "Because it is," he replied. "I found this place when I was young. I was upset and was running from my problems. It isn't too far from the pack but I came across it and since then, I came here whenever I'm angry or upset. This place always seemed to calm me down."
I exhaled and grabbed onto his hand, running my thumb over his skin. I listened to him speak which made me question his past. I never asked because I was guessing it was a sour subject but my anticipation was growing and growing by the second.
"What happened?" I asked, softly.
His eyes darkened and he slowly shook his head. "I can't say. Not now, that is," Mason whispered. "Let's focus on us for now." I nodded my head, understanding what he meant. He pulled the basket that sat next to him and opened it. He pulled out a couple of stuff before taking out food.
Yum, food.
I gawked at the food and felt my stomach rumble at the sight. Mason took out plates and placed the food on it. As time went by, we ate and spoke a little.
I couldn't help but feel happy at his actions. I never would have thought that Mason would do something like this. It was so romantic, something that I never thought Mason had in him. I glanced at our surroundings and smiled as a couple of fireflies flew past us.
I looked back at Mason and raised a brow as I saw him staring at me. He moved closer to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me to his chest.
"So beautiful," he muttered under his breath as he placed kisses on my neck. I bit my lip to try to hide the smile that threatened to show at his words. He raised his head and glanced down at my lips. I licked them and stared into his eyes. He leaned in closer and inhaled my scent before crashing his lips onto mine.
His lips moved against mine, making me melt in his arms. I closed my eyes shut as Mason did wonders on my lips. After a while, he slowly pulled away and rested his forehead against mine, letting out a deep breath.
"You drive me crazy," he whispered, making me chuckle.
I opened my eyes to see dark ones staring back at me. My lips curved into a smile and he pecked my lips one more time before pulling away. I immediately missed the contact and pouted, his eyes sparkled with amusement. He grabbed me by my waist and pulled me in front of him so that my back was facing him. He handed me my plate as one arm wrapped around my waist, making me smile.
"Eat," Mason murmured, kissing the place behind my ear. I nodded my head and started eating. After a while, we were done eating and I laid my head against his chest, listening to his heartbeats. I let out a sigh and snuggled deeper into his chest.
"This is nice," I whispered. He placed his chin on the top of my head and tightened his arms around me.
"We can always repeat this," Mason spoke, making me smile.
I nodded my head. "That would be great."
We stood like that for a long time. I felt like if we stood like that for any longer then I would have fallen asleep. It was so relaxing. Mason holding me and the nature surrounding us was soothing me. I let out a yawn as Mason rubbed his thumb against my waist. I closed my eyes and listened to his beating heart.
"I think it's time to go," Mason spoke. I frowned and opened my eyes, staring up at him.
"I don't want to leave," I whined like a child.
He smiled at my behavior and shook his head. "As I said, we'll come here again. But for now, we need to call it a night." I sighed out and nodded in defeat. I didn't want to leave, I only wanted to stay. But I guess Mason was right, it was kind of getting late and he is an alpha, so I bet he has lots of things to do.
Mason stood up and grabbed my hands, pulling me up. I stood on my feet and ran a hand through my hair before looking at Mason.
"Come on," he said lowly, tugging on my hand. I nodded and we walked away, I stopped and looked back at the place in awe. It was truly beautiful and it saddened me that we were leaving. I shook my head and looked back at Mason. He kissed my forehead, making me smile up at him. We walked side by side towards the car in silence. As soon as we were in front of the car, Mason opened the door for me and smiled. I sat in the seat before he closed it for me.
He walked to the other side of the car and opened the door. Before he could even sit in the seat, he stopped and checked his pocket.
"Shit," he cursed before shaking his head. I frowned at him in confusion. Mason looked at me and spoke, "I forgot my phone back there. Will you be alright if I leave to grab it?" He asked. I nodded my head at him.
"I'll be fine. Go get your phone," I assured him. He nodded and closed the door, before running back to the place. I laid my head against my seat and smiled, thinking about tonight. It surely was one of the best nights of my life. I looked out the window and sighed out. I didn't know what time was it but I was sure it was late. I could hear crickets and owls, which made my surroundings a creepier than it already was.
I shook my head and pushed those thoughts aside. I looked out the window and sighed out in relief as I heard Mason's footsteps walk towards the car. However, I frowned when I realized that he was right outside my window. It was dark outside so all I could make out was the shape of his body.
The door opened and my frown deepened, I looked up at Mason, ready to ask him what was wrong when I realized that the man in front of me was not Mason. My eyes widened in fear as I stared at the smirking man in front of me, but what made my heart fall down to my stomach was the fangs that pointed out of his lips and his dark, red eyes. Immediately I knew that the man in front of me was a vampire.
