Chapter 42

"Pack meeting?" I questioned. "What for?"

Lina shrugged her shoulders and stood up from my bed.

"I don't know. We're going to find out. The pack meeting is starting in half an hour," Lina answered. I sighed and nodded my head, getting up from my bed and walking to my closet. Many questions roamed through my head, wondering what was the reason for this pack meeting.

I took out a normal shirt and jeans, then turned to Lina.

"I'll be dressed in five minutes. Just wait for me outside," I spoke. Lina nodded her head and walked towards my door and out of my room. I walked into my bathroom and changed my clothes. Then I splashed water on my face, trying to wake myself up from my sleepy state. I then brushed my hair and looked at the mirror. I sighed once I looked at my neck.

Memories of what happened flooded my memory, making me close my eyes in an attempt to calm my wolf. Once my wolf calmed down, I opened them then rubbed my thumb over the spot he kissed, making a shiver run down my spine.

He said that one day he'll mark me, does that mean he's accepting this mate bond? My heart flipped at the thought of that.

One day.

I sighed and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I walked out of the bathroom and out of my room. I caught sight of Lina standing by my door, she looked me up and down then scowled.

"You look like shit," she said for the second time today. I rolled my eyes and walked closer to her.

"I know," I muttered. We soon started walking down the hall and towards the stairs. Lina raised a brow at me as she looked at my appearance.

"Why? Did something happen?" Lina asked, making me bite my lip.

Yes, something big happened.

I slowly shook my head, "no, nothing happened. I'm just not feeling well." And that was a half-lie. I was honestly, not feeling too good. My head kept throbbing and spinning, which was unusual for me. My body felt weird, maybe it was from the lack of sleep? I honestly don't know, but I pushed that aside and brought my attention back on Lina.

Lina stopped then looked at me with concern written on her face, "you're not feeling well? Do you want to stay behind? You don't have to attend the pack meeting. I'll just tell you what it was about." I shook my head and gave her a small smile.

"As much as I could like to return to bed, I'm ok. It'll pass," I assured her. She nodded her head then smiled.

"Then come on, let's go."

We walked down the stairs and towards the back door where the pack meetings take place. As soon as we walked out the back doors I saw all of the pack outside, waiting for Mason to make his appearance.

We walked closer to the big group of people and waited. Some were standing quietly while some were talking. I glanced at Lina to see her looking behind her. My eyes followed her stare and I soon stiffened when I saw Mason walking towards us. Everybody's eyes were on him as he walked to the front of the crowd.

Everyone was silent, tension present and thick in the air. Mason looked over the crowd. His eyes locked with me, making me feel nervous on my spot. He cleared his throat then continued to roam his stare through the large crowd. The beta and the third in command came and stood by his side. After a minute of silence, Mason finally spoke.

"I apologize for bringing all you here on short notice," Mason started. "Now, as some of you know, we've been dealing with a problem with rogues. Which, is quite normal, since every pack has to deal with something like that. But I have noticed that it's been a little more than normal, even though these past few weeks the rogues have calmed down. So I decided to take drastic measures, for the safety of this pack. Alex, the Alpha of the Black Blood pack, a pack that's not too far away from here, and I, have decided to be allies. Meaning, our pack and theirs will become stronger if we combine. These past few weeks we've been negotiating and decided on this. Some of our pack warriors will move into their pack and some of theirs will move in here. We are going to have to cooperate with them for the well being of our pack. Any questions?"

Everyone remained silent as they comprehend his words. We knew that combining packs weren't always good, especially since this pack doesn't really get along much. This was for a good reason though, and I'm sure Mason wouldn't make a decision like this if it wasn't important.

"How can we know if we can trust them?" A man spoke. Lots of people nodded their heads in agreement.

"We have to if we want to work together. Remember, they're doing the same thing for their safety. We have no other choice," Mason explained. Whispers and murmuring erupted in the air. Some people agreed, and some didn't.

"How long will this be?" Another person asked.

"We still have a couple of days until some of them come in here, and I don't know, until we know we're completely safe," Mason replied.

They nodded their heads in agreement and stayed silent. No one else asked questions and Mason nodded his head.

"Ok, you may all head back." He sighed. That's when everyone started making their way back to the packhouse. I glanced at Lina and she shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what to say.

"Do you think this is a good idea?" I asked her. She shrugged her shoulders again.

"I don't know, maybe," Lina muttered. I remained silent as I watched everyone else walk into the packhouse, making Lina and I the only ones out there, including Mason and his beta and his third in command. Mason started walking towards us, keeping his eyes on me.

I gulped as he got closer, making me nervous.

"Mason," Lina greeted. "Do you think this is a good idea?" Mason looked over at her, giving his sister a hard look.

"This is the only idea I have. I just hope it won't cause any problems," he muttered. Lina nodded her head and sighed. Mason slowly looked over at me and stepped closer.

"Tiana, can I talk with you?" Mason asked. My eyes widened and I glanced at Lina then back at him.

"Yeah, what is it?" I questioned.

"Well, I'll be going," Lina spoke. "I'll see you later, Tiana." And with that, she turned around and walked away, leaving Mason and me alone. I looked up at him and started playing with my fingers, he stared at me before speaking.

"Uh...about what happened," he started and cleared his throat. "I apologize, I guess I kind of crossed the line." My breath got caught in my throat at his words, does this mean he regrets what he said? He took another step closer. "But I meant what I said, one day, I'm going to mark you."

My eyes widened as I stared at him. I felt my cheeks heat up as he stared intensely at me. He meant what he said? I felt my heart swell at his words. It brought comfort to me, making me happy.

"You are?" I asked, stupidly. His lips turned into a smirk and he leaned closer to me, making a shiver run down my spine.

"I promise."

I let a big breath out and nodded my head, looking down. I was speechless. I was left with no words. I cleared my throat and Mason spoke.

"Are you ok?" I looked up to see his smirk gone, instead, it was replaced with a frown.

I nodded my head, "yes."

He shook his head.

"You don't look good," he argued. I shrugged my shoulders and tugged a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I'm fine, I just didn't sleep well," I told him. Mason slowly nodded his head and sighed.

"Ok, but if you get worse, make sure to see the pack doctor. Or else I'll throw you over my shoulders and take you there myself." By the end of his sentence, a small smirk crawled onto his face. I felt my cheeks flush and nodded my head, staying silent.

"I need to go," I breathed out. "Bye."

He muttered a 'bye' before I turned around and walked into the packhouse. I placed my hand against the wall once my head started to spin. I groaned silently before shaking it off, and walking towards my room. Maybe a little sleep will help.

Lina and I walked out of the packhouse and towards the field. We decided to sit on the benches and watch the warriors train. I came out so I could take fresh air. After waking up I felt worse, my face felt hot and my head was spinning. I figured, maybe if I sit outside I'll feel a little better.

I didn't know what was wrong with me, I just thought maybe it's from all the stress and lack of sleep. Werewolves barely get sick so this was worrying me a little bit. I sighed out and felt Lina stare at me as we sat down on the benches.

"What?" I asked.

"You look horrible," she muttered. I raised a brow at her.

"Lina, I'm sure you already told me that three times today," I muttered. She shook her head and scooted closer to me.

"But I mean it, you look really tired. How about we take you to the pack doctor to see what's wrong with you?" She suggested. I shook my head at her.

"I'm fine, Lina," I assured her. She shook her head then sighed.

"Fine, if that's what you want." We looked towards the warriors as they trained. I caught sight of Mason as he talked with some of the pack members. He glanced at us before looking away. I turned my attention once I saw Adam running towards us.

"Hey, Tiana." He greeted. I smiled up at him.

"Hey. How's training?" I questioned. He sat next to me and nodded his head.

"It's going good," he answered then looked at Lina before looking at me.

"Well hello to you too," Lina muttered, making Adam chuckle.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't see you there," he teased. Lina rolled her eyes and crossed her arms against her chest.

"Yeah, that's because I'm a ghost. And I'm going to hunt you for the rest of your life," she joked, sarcastically. Adam raised a brow then laughed. He soon brought his attention back on me.

"So, I was wondering if you'd like to have lunch with me? Since, you know, we haven't hung around in a long time," Adam suggested. I gave him a smile and nodded my head. I actually felt bad since I stopped hanging out with him anymore. Adam's my best friend and we used to hang around all the time, but now, we kind of stopped.

"Sure. I'd like that," I agreed. He broke out into a smile and nodded his head before getting up.

"Great," he said in a happy tone. I got up and looked at Adam and Lina. I winced when the throbbing in my head grew and Adam's smile dropped as he stared at me.

"Are you ok, Tiana?" Adam asked, worryingly. I placed my hand on my forehead and shrugged my shoulders.

"My head hurts so bad, I'm going to go inside and wash my face." I groaned and took a step back. Lina stood up and looked at me with concern written all over her face. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Mason walking towards us. I took another step back, not wanting him to see me like this.

"Let me come with you," Lina spoke. I shook my head and was about to tell her no when a strong wave of pain crossed my body, making my legs give out and making me fall to the ground. Fortunately, Adam was quick enough to catch me and hold me in his arms.

A gasp escaped my mouth as the pain repeated itself, making me scream out in pain. Lina gasped and placed her hands on my shoulders.

"Tiana, oh my gosh. What's wrong?" I heard her yell. I closed my eyes as the throbbing in my head grew, making me so close to passing out.

"Tiana?" Adam asked, shaking my shoulders. The contact between him and I only made the pain the increase, making me scream out in pain. Lina pulled me out of his arms and into hers. "Her scent, it's too strong," I heard Adam mutter then step away.

"What's happening?" I heard Mason's deep voice yell as he ran towards us. Another scream escaped my mouth as the pain overcame me, making my body hot.

"I don't know," Lina said in a worried tone. I was immediately snatched from Lina's arms and placed into a set of warms arms that brought me comfort. I felt Mason's arms tighten around me and I felt the pain disappear for a split second before coming back.

"Tiana?" Mason spoke. I whined out as the pain shot all around my body, making me want to scream. "Tiana, please. Open your eyes."

I kept them close as I felt Mason start running.

"Where are you going?" I heard Lina yell.

"Where else?" Mason growled. "To the pack doctor."

My head was spinning and I let out a scream as I felt my body shake with pain. I whined and wished that this pain would go away.

Mason was whispering comforting words into my ear, telling me everything is going to be alright. After awhile I was placed on a bed and I heard a person entering a room.

"Alpha?" I recognized that voice, it belonged to Sam, the pack doctor.

"What's wrong with her? She's in pain," Mason growled. I felt Sam place his hand on my forehead, making another wave of pain hit my body.

"Oh my," he gasped. "She's going through heat."
