Chapter 41

I gulped as I stared into Mason's fury eyes. He looked mad, really mad. John got up from the floor, glaring at me before looking at his alpha.

"It's not what it looks like," I told him, stepping away from John.

"I know what I saw," Mason growled, walking up to me and grabbing me by the arm. I winced at his tight grip but didn't say anything. He misunderstood, and I needed him to know that. He looked upset like I stabbed him in the back. But I didn't, I don't think I ever will.

Besides, if we wanted to make out, then it wouldn't be on the kitchen floor. Not like that will ever happen. Mason snapped his head over at John, looking like he was so close in punching him in the jaw and killing him on the spot. I grabbed onto his arm to prevent that from happening. John was glaring at me, while I, was saving his ass.

Who am I kidding? I'm the one that fell on him.

"Mason," I whispered, trying to calm him down. "I slipped and he caught me, but then we both fell. That's it"

John cleared his throat and spoke, "Alpha, I have a mate. She's telling the truth. We just slipped and fell."

Mason's fury eyes calmed down a bit, but not too much, still holding anger in them. He looked down at me and I nodded my head. I don't know why, but I wanted him to believe me. I didn't want him to think that I'd do that with someone other than him.

Wait, what?

Mason looked at John and glared at him, letting go of my arm but wrapping his arm around my waist, making my eyes widen.

"Then why are you both here at a time like this?" Mason growled.

"It was a coincidence, Alpha. We were just grabbing something to drink. As I said, I have a mate and I wouldn't cheat on her."

Mason let out a deep breath, tightening his grip on my waist. The grip he had on me made a shiver run down my spine.

Good heavens.

"You can go now," he growled at John. John nodded his head and immediately walked out of the kitchen. Mason turned his attention over to me, looking down at me. I glanced at the grip he had on me then back at him. I let out a shaky breath and tried to pull away from him, but that only made him tighten his grip on me.

"Mason," I whispered.

He looked down at me and raised his brow, leaning in closer.

"Hmm?" He murmured as he dug his nose in my hair.

I gulped and placed my hand on his chest.

"You're too close," I whispered.

"I know," he whispered, inhaling my scent. I let out a shaky breath and closed my eyes, trying to calm my wolf down. My wolf was so close to tackling him to the floor and eating him all up.

Bad wolf.

I opened my eyes and tried stepping away, but he only growled and tightened his grip.

"Mason," I breathed out. "What are you doing?"

He didn't say anything but inhaling my scent once again. He placed his nose on the crook of my neck, making my eyes widened.

Goodness.

After a while, he finally spoke. "Just for a minute, let us stay like this just for one minute."

I inhaled and closed my eyes, nodding my head. He inhaled my scent and started running his finger along my arm. I immediately snapped my eyes open as I felt his lips touch my neck, making sparks erupt at the contact. My breath was caught in my throat when I felt him linger a soft kiss, making me shiver.

The dream immediately flashed in my head, making me want to faint. Dear heavens, it was like the dream was becoming reality.

"Mason," I whispered, opening my eyes.

"Hmm?" He murmured before kissing my neck again.

"What are you doing?" I asked, breathless. I gripped onto his shirt because any moment now my legs were going to give out and I'm going to fall on the ground.

"I can't get you out of my head," he whispered, before pulling away and looking me in the eyes. "What are you doing to me?"

I stared at him with wide eyes, as he stared back at me with dark eyes, his wolf wanting control and so did mine. I was left with no words, breathless. I opened my mouth to say something but immediately closed it, not knowing what to say. His lips turned into a smirk and he placed his lips back on my neck, making me hold my breath.

"Soon, one day, I'm going to mark you here," he whispered against my skin. My eyes widened and a gasp made its way out my lips, making me push him away. I stared at him in shock, he looked down at me with a confused expression.

The dream was becoming reality. Holy shit. I backed away and ran a hand through my hair, looking down. I was so confused.

"Tiana?" He whispered, stepping closer to me. I snapped my eyes over at him, taking another step back.

"I-I..." I breathed out. "I need to get back to bed."

And with that, I turned around and ran out the kitchen door, leaving a confused Mason behind.

I groaned and turned to my other side, trying to get some sleep. After a long time of attempting to catch at least an hour of sleep, I finally gave up and shrieked into my pillow. After what happened with Mason and me in the kitchen, I couldn't sleep at all.

I don't know why I ran away, but I was scared and confused. I breathed out and rubbed my hands over my face. I opened my eyes and stared out the window. The sun that shined in my room made me groan and close my eyes. I don't know how long I tried to sleep but I'm guessing it's been hours since the sun came up.

I groaned again once I heard someone knocking on my door. Who would be knocking at my door at a time like this?

"Tiana!" Lina shouted. "Open up!"

I scowled and dug my head dipper into the pillow.

Of course, Lina would.

"Open up!" She screamed. "I know you're awake. If you don't open up then I'm breaking the door down."

"What do you want?" I yelled. "I'm trying to sleep. Leave me alone."

"You had enough sleep. It's time to get up. Besides, I have something to tell you," Lina yelled from behind the door. I opened one eye at what she said before closing it again.

"What are you talking about? It's early in the morning!" I yelled back.

"No, it's not. It's almost ten. Get up and open the door before I break it down," she lectured. I snapped my eyes open. "Ten?" I muttered to myself and looked over to the clock. Indeed, it was ten in the morning. But how? Was I awake for that long and didn't notice.

"Hello? You still alive in there?" Lina yelled. I rolled my eyes and took my blanket off me, getting off of my warm, comfy bed.

Goodbye, bed.

I walked over to my bedroom door so I could open it for her before she broke it down. I needed that door. I huffed out in annoyance and turned the lock before opening it, looking at a scowling Lina.

"What?" I growled. Her eyes ranked my body, she then raised a brow at me.

"What happened to you? You look like shit," she asked. I rolled my eyes and backed away, turning back to my bed and jumping on it. I closed my eyes and hoped that the Lord would have mercy on me and let me get an hour of sleep without an annoying, nagging Lina getting in the way of that.

"Rude," I heard Lina mutter. I didn't say anything. I remained silent as I welcomed my comfy bed. I heard Lina enter my room and sit on my bed.

"Wake up, wake up, sleepyhead. Sleepyhead that's not your bed," Lina sang, making me groan. "I'm serious. Get up."

"What do you want?" I snapped at her, opening my eyes and glaring at her. She raised her hands in a defensive manner, frowning.

"Damn, girl. Chill. What crawled up your ass?" Lina questioned.

"Lina," I growled and closed my eyes, not wanting to deal with her right now.

"Ok, ok. You have to get up so we could get ready," she answered. I opened my eyes at her and raised a brow.

"Ready? For what?" I asked.

"You didn't know? Mason called out for a pack meeting, he says it's important."
