Chapter 38

"I swear, if you two don't put me down, I will make you regret the day you were born!" I yelled and tried to release myself from their hard grip. They laughed but didn't release me as they continued to pull me towards the backyard. They couldn't get it into their thick heads that I didn't want to play. But no, this was forced upon me.

I know I might be exaggerating a little bit, but dodgeball and I don't go well together. We are like fire and water, worst enemies. I have horrible memories that had to do with it. Every game I would end up in the medical office holding a bag of ice to my lips, nose, head, jaw, or cheek. Even though you're not allowed to throw the ball at someone's face it would eventually strike me in the head. Don't ask why, I don't know either.

"Will you stop struggling?" Lina asked, tightening her grip on me. I snapped my head at her and growled.

"Will you let me go?" I asked. She gave me a sly grin.

"Nope," she replied, popping the 'p'. I let out a sigh of frustration and that only made Adam chuckle.

"Do you find this funny? Pulling me to my own death?" I snapped at him. His smile widened and he let out another chuckle.

"Come on, Tiana. You have to face your fear!"

"Fear? I'm not afraid! I'm just trying to avoid being attacked by a ball! They freaking hurt when they hit my head. They're hard and big!" I growled at him.

"That's what she said..." Adam muttered. I snapped my head over to him.

"Huh?" He shook his head and a smirk crawled onto his face.

"Nothing. And don't worry, you won't get hit by one... Trust me."

I furrowed my brows at him, knowing that I shouldn't trust him.

"Fine fine. I'll come with you. Just let me go," I said, indicating the grip they had on me. Lina smiled out in excitement and let go of me as soon as Adam lost his grip.

"Yay! We're going to have so much fun!" Lina said in a happy tone. I scowled and shook my head.

"I know I won't," I muttered as we walked out the packhouse and towards the field. I caught sight of the pack warriors, laughing in joy as they didn't have to train for once. I caught glimpse of Mason as he talked to a couple of pack warriors with a straight face.

Feeling my stare on him, he slowly looked over at me. His tensed face relaxed, giving me a small smile that I barely caught onto. I looked down as I saw a couple of pack warriors look at me as Mason stared right at me. Mason snapped his head back and everyone brought their attention back on him.

I looked at Adam and Lina to see Adam tensed, and to see Lina smiling happily as she stared between Mason and me. I raised a brow at her, knowing that she saw Mason and I staring at each other.

"What's with that goofy smile?" I asked. She looked at me, her eyes twinkling with excitement.

"My ship is sailing..." She whispered. I furrowed my brows at her in confusion.

"Huh? Did you say ship?" I questioned. Her smile widened and she looked over at Adam, ignoring what I asked.

"Come on. Let's go!"

Fine..ignore me like I'm not here.

We walked closer to the pack warriors and to Mason. I felt Mason's eyes on me as I walked with Adam and Lina. I meet his stare to see him looking at me with a hint of confusion, guessing he's wondering what I'm doing here.

"Adam particularly forced me to play with them..." I told him in the mind link. He slowly nodded his head and I could've sworn I saw him glare at Adam for a couple of seconds before bringing his stare to the others. I looked over at Adam to see him glaring at Mason. I rolled my eyes and nudged him in the stomach with my elbow. He snapped his head over to me and raised a brow.

"If I were you, I would stop with all the glaring before your eyes pop out," I told him. He scowled and looked away from me. Geez. What crawled up his ass?

"Ok, guys! Split into two teams. Let's get this game started!" A pack warrior spoke as a grin plastered onto his face. Instantly, we split up into two teams. Adam was on my team while Lina was on another team. Everyone had an excited smile on their face, guessing they're happy that they're playing a game instead of training. Except for me. I had an annoyed frown on my face. I wasn't looking forward to this game, that's why I'm using Adam as my shield. Since he's tall and good at this game, he'll keep me safe....well, I hope so.

Ok...maybe he won't.

When we would play this game in high school I would always hide behind him, not as it did me any good. He'd always forget that I was behind him and move, leading for me to be struck by those dodge balls. It was a pain in the ass.

I looked over towards Mason to see him sitting on a bench, watching us as they were about to start the game. He stared into my eyes and gave me a small nod. I gave him a crooked smile then brought my attention back to Adam and the others.

"So, you're going to hide behind me?" Adam asked with a grin on his face.

I nudged him.

"As long as I'm playing this game then I'm using you as my shield," I muttered, lowly. Adam didn't seem to mind. Instead, he had a smile on his face.

"Ok then. If that keeps you happy."

Adam brought his attention back to the group and I let my eyes roam around the warriors.

I gulped.

These warriors are buff as hell. There were a couple of females but most of them were males, and they were tall and buffy. Not a good thing.

It would be a miracle if I'm not the first one to get out.

I heard a whistle and that's when the game started. I groped onto Adam's shirt as balls started flying around. I squealed out in shock as Adam moved towards my right, leaving me visible as a target. I immediately went behind Adam and scowled at him as he let out a chuckle.

I had my guards up, carefully inspecting my surroundings. I immediately moved as I saw a ball head from behind me. I let out a breath of relief as I missed it. I kept looking back and forwards, trying not to be hit.

One by one. People from my group were getting out, and from the other group as well. My eyes widened when I noticed that there were barely five people left in my group, including Adam and I. I was surprised that I lasted this long. Most likely because of Adam, because I was behind him the entire time. And knowing Adam, he's a champion at this game.

Also, I'm guessing that I stayed this long because I was determined to not lose. I was determined to not get hit.

I squealed out in shock as I saw a ball heading towards my head. I instantly ducked down, avoiding it. I sighed out in relief but soon frowned when Adam was hit by one.

There goes my life. I'm a goner.

"Dammit," Adam cursed as he stepped away from me. He looked back at me and smiled when he saw my worried face.

"I'm going to die.." I told him in a dramatic tone.

"No you're not, you're doing great." He chuckled and with that, he walked away. I gulped when I saw that I was one of the last few people that remained in the game.

This is a miracle. For once my prayers were heard. Thank you, Lord.

After constantly trying to avoid being hit, I was the last one in my group. Shocking, I know. I gulped out in fear as I saw the look of determination in the pack warrior's eyes, ready to take me out. I was their target, and knowing me...I was screwed.

I glanced over at Mason to see him staring intensely at me, an amused glint in his eyes. I could tell he was surprised. I was too.

I yelped when one of the males threw the ball at me. I immediately stepped away, avoiding it. I was as stiff as a rock. When a ball headed towards me, I would just take one or two steps away.

This was so not fair, little me...against many buff males that stared at me like I was their food. It's not my fault my team was a bunch of p*ssies that were easily taken out.

Yeah...I know, I know. I'm a bigger p*ssy than all of them, but hey, look at me now. I'm the only one in...sorry Adam.

"Come on! Take her out! She's just a girl," one of them yelled.

I furrowed my brows at them in anger. Just a girl? This girl could dig your grave and bury you alive!

"Oh, you're just mad that a girl is better at this game than you guys! Afraid your ego will be smashed?" Lina yelled from out of the group. She was already taken out awhile ago. I smiled up at Lina and was about to shoot something back at them when I felt something hit my nose, making me fall to the ground and wince in pain.

I groped my nose and heard gasps. I closed my eyes when my head started to pound, giving me a headache. I felt something drip out of my nose, knowing that it was blood.

Dammit.

My eyes snapped open when I heard a dangerous growl erupt in the air. I looked up to see Mason walking up to a warrior in anger, and his eyes widened in fear and guilt, knowing that he's the one who threw the ball at me. My eyes widened when he grabbed his shirt, then threw a punch right at him, making him fall to the ground. Lina immediately went up to Mason and pulled him off of the guy.

Mason looked angry, really angry.

Adam ran towards me, helping me stand on my feet.

This is what I meant when I said dodgeball and I aren't a good match.

"Shit, Tiana. You're bleeding. Are you ok?" Adam asked. I looked up at him and winced when the pounding in my head grew stronger, making me feel dizzy. I slowly nodded my head and kept the palm of my hand over my nose, trying to stop the bleeding.

Adam took out a tissue from his pocket and handed it over to me. I silently thanked him then placed the tissue over my nostrils. My eyes snapped over at Mason to see him walking towards me. He snapped Adam's hand off of my shoulder and then pulled me towards him.

My eyes widened as he did that, and as everyone's eyes silently stared at us

"Shit," he cursed as he saw my bleeding nose. I looked up at his eyes to see anger.

Mason grabbed my hand and started pulling me towards the packhouse. Mason stopped then looked over at the others.

"I'll be sending Nick to watch over you guys," he growled then looked over at the guys who threw the ball at me. "I'll deal with you later." He looked down in shame as he held his jaw. I felt sorry for him, it wasn't really his fault, it's just a game. Besides, I always end up like this when I play this stupid game.

Mason pulled me towards the packhouse and I followed him like a lost puppy. I then looked down at his grip on my hand then back at him.

"Where are we going?" I asked. He looked over at me and his hard eyes softened.

"To the pack doctor," Mason answered. I nodded my head.

Of course, where else would he be taking me?

To his room-shut up, Tiana!

Mason looked down at our hands, staring at them, then slowly let go of mine. I gulped as his eyes darkened. He looked away and nodded his head, indicating for me to follow him. We walked through the packhouse and my state attracted a couple of stares.

As soon as we made it to the medical room, Mason opened the door. We were greeted by a man, who looked like he was in his late 20s. He looked over at us and his eyes widened as he saw us.

"Alpha," he greeted. He then looked over at me and stepped closer.

"Her nose is bleeding?" He asked. Mason nodded his head.

"Yes, she was hit by a dodge ball," Mason replied. The man nodded his head and gave me a soft smile.

"Sit here," he said as he pointed at the bed. I nodded my head and sat down. He wore gloves then walked up to me.

"Please remove the tissue so I could see." I removed the tissue and he wiped a little blood from my nose.

"It's not broken," he assured me. "I'll go get some ice so you can place it on your nose until the bleeding stops."

I nodded my head and he walked away. I looked over at Mason to see him staring at me. He walked over to me and sighed.

"Does it hurt?" He asked. I shook my head.

"Not really. You could say I'm used to it," I told him. He furrowed his brows in confusion.

"What do you mean?" Mason asked.

"I'm horrible at dodgeball. And every time I play that game I end up with this," I explained with a smile on my face, trying to calm him down. He frowned.

"But you were playing great just awhile ago."

I shrugged my shoulders, "I'm shocked myself. I guess I was lucky this time."

He slowly nodded his head.

"I'm sure the guy didn't mean to hurt me, so there's no need in punishing him." I was a little worried for the poor guy, knowing Mason, he'd be announcing his death ceremony.

His frown deepened.

"He hurt you," Mason claimed.

"It's a game. So he didn't mean it. Just let it go," I told him. He looked at me and huffed out in frustration, not saying anything else.

Soon the pack doctor came with an ice pack. He smiled up at me and removed the tissue from my nose then placed the ice pack on my nose.

"You're not bleeding too much. So the bleeding should stop soon," the doctor said softly. I gave him a smile.

"Ok, thank you, Doctor..." I stopped when I noticed that I didn't know his name.

"Sam."

"Thanks, Doctor Sam."

"No worries. Why don't you relax for a bit until the bleeding stops?" Doctor Sam suggested. I nodded my head and got comfortable on the bed. Mason looked at me and sat on a chair. I raised a brow at him when I realized he was going to stay.

"You're staying?" I asked him. He crossed his arms against his chest.

"I have nothing better to do, so might as well stay."

I slowly nodded my head.

"When the bleeding stops you can leave. I'll be in my office doing some paperwork. If you need me, just call," Doctor Sam said then looked over at Mason then nodded his head. Mason nodded his head as well.

"Alpha." And with that, he walked away

I looked at Doctor Sam as he walked away and couldn't help thinking that he was cute. He wasn't old, he was pretty young and looked good looking. You don't see young doctors much in packs. I looked over at Mason to see him frowning at me.

"Since when did he start working here?" I asked him.

"Not too long ago... Why?" He asked, suspiciously. I shrugged my shoulders.

"No reason. He just looks really young," I answered. Mason's frown deepened and his eyes narrowed at me, he didn't look too happy.

"And good looking.." I said the last part to myself, but I knew Mason heard. Now don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm going to hit in him or something. I was just stating the fact, and I couldn't help wonder what Mason's reaction would be. Mason's eyes darkened a dangerous shade which made a shiver run down my spine.

He got up from the chair and slowly walked up to me. I eyed him carefully as he stood in front of me with a pissed off face.

Mason leaned towards my ear and growled lightly. "Tsk tsk. You shouldn't have said that." There was a pause before he continued. "My wolf doesn't like the idea of you calling another male good looking."

I gulped as I stared into his eyes.

Great going, Tiana.

"And he sure doesn't like you looking at another male," he growled, softly.

I opened my mouth to say something but was left with no words. I was flabbergasted. He was too close and his words made a chill run down my spine. My wolf, however, was her usual self, yelping, and purring in joy.

A soft gasp escaped my lips and I removed the ice pack from my nose when I felt his lips softly touch the crook of my neck, leaving me stiff. But what he said next made my heart stop.

"And I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree."
