Chapter 28
I started at the blank door for a while. Debating with myself whether I should mind my own business or be the nosy person I am and eavesdrop. My wolf was telling me to do exactly that but that made me feel uncomfortable. It wasn't really my business whatever they're doing but I knew I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it until I knew what exactly was going on.
Of course, my wolf was jumping to conclusions, heartbroken that her mate was with another female in one room but I knew better than to jump to conclusions. I ain't that stupid, yes I'm confused. Why was she in Mason's room? But you never know, maybe he isn't in his room.
After a long discussion with my wolf, I finally sighed out in frustration and slowly walked towards Mason's room and placed my ear against the door. Either way, I was going to hear whatever was going on inside because of my wolf hearing but I just felt the urge to place my ear against the door.
I heard nothing.
I furrowed my brows in confusion. Not a single sound was made. The only thing I could hear was the silent breaths of a person in there. I stayed like that for a while but nothing happened. No sound, no speaking, nothing. Nothing was to be heard. My wolf was confused as well, telling me to open the door and see what was going but I mentally shook my head. I wasn't going to do that. I might be dumb, but not that dumb.
I finally decided to give up and turn around because this wasn't my business and I didn't want to stick my nose in this. Maybe Mason wasn't really in his room, but Nick told me he was in his room. And even if he was, why was Chloe in there? That question roamed through my head for the millionth time.
My wolf started whining telling me that maybe they were a thing, I rolled my eyes. Of course, my wolf would say something like that. But maybe she was right, I don't know but I'm hoping they weren't. It would just make things even difficult.
I started thinking of the possibility of them being an item. She does hate me, maybe it's because Mason used to date her. But why would she hate me though? I don't think that she knows that I'm his mate. Even though I told myself I shouldn't care because it's not my business I couldn't help but feel disappointed.
As I took a step forward I stopped dead in my track when I finally heard Mason's voice speaking in an angry and hard tone.
"What are you doing?" He growled. I slowly turned my head towards the door and listened.
"Chloe," he growled. "What are you doing in my room?" He growled again. I heard Chloe stutter and by this time I knew I was too caught up in the moment to leave.
"I was just checking up on you," she answered. "You looked stressed so I thought of giving you a massage." She said in a low voice which made me gag.
I heard Mason growl.
"I was asleep, you dare to enter my room without my knowledge?" He growled at her. I heard her whine.
"I was only trying to help," she told him. I scoffed but continued to listen.
"I don't need your help, get out of my room and don't even enter it without my permission," he ordered her.

"Why are you like this, Mason?" She growled. "Is it because of that new werewolf?" She questioned. I frowned and furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Chloe," he growled as a warning.
"No, I see how you've been looking at her. You don't look at someone like that for God's sake. Why her? What's so special about her, what does she have that I don't?" She asked in anger. I frown deepened and I was wondering whether they were talking about me or someone else.
"Chloe, stop. That's enough," he growled at her.
"No, tell me, Mason. What does she have that I don't? Why on earth do you act so different around her?" She asked and a growl came out of her mouth. My eyes widened a bit at that but I stood there silent as I listened to their conversation.
"Chloe, I don't need to justify my actions to you. You don't need to know!" He growled at her. I heard her growl.
"Why is it so hard to tell me?" She asked with anger and frustration laced in her voice.
"Dammit, Chloe. She's my mate! Do you understand now? She's my damn mate," he growled loudly at her. My eyes widened and I stepped away from the door with a surprised expression plastered on my face.
"What?" She asked completely surprise.
"Get out now," Mason growled lowly at her and I knew that enough was enough and I shouldn't stick along any longer. I didn't want to get caught so I backed away some more and turned around and walked away from Mason's room and down the stairs.
I was running. Running from something. I don't know from what but I knew that I should run and not look back. I was out of breath and really tired but I didn't dare stop. I ran like my life depended on it and maybe it did. I tried to shift into my wolf so I could run even faster but I couldn't. I was panicking. I couldn't feel my wolf.
I tried contacting her but she wasn't there. This brought tears to my eyes. Where was she?
I even tried to let my wings out but I couldn't. I wasn't able to let them out. What the hell was happening? I don't know who I'm running from and where I am but I didn't stop running. I was in some kind of woods. There were trees everywhere and it was dark, really dark. How the trees were formed to prevent sunlight from entering shocked yet frightened me. Especially since I was in this situation.
I tried to look for at least one single living creature in the forest but found nothing. Everything was dead. Not a single form of life was around. This place screamed death and this wasn't a place I wanted to stay in. I stopped for a split second to catch my breath but immediately started running when I heard footsteps behind me.
I ran and ran for who knows long. It was like time never ended and I kept running for hours from something I didn't even know.
As I was running out of breath I accidentally tripped on a rock and came falling down to the ground. I winced out in pain as I felt tingles of pain grow on the right side of my ankle. I groaned when I tried to stand up but fell right back to the ground. My face became pale as I heard the footsteps became louder and louder by the minute. I gulped as I heard a wicked laugh and knew if I wanted to get out of this alive then I needed to get up.

I forced myself up and as I finally stoop on two of my feet I took a step forward but hissed in pain. I breathed in but my breath was stuck in my throat when I saw three werewolves appear from the trees. Slowly they came into sight and looked at me.
I stared at them with wide eyes as I stared into theirs. But what frightened were their eyes. They were red, meaning they were rogues. And how they were looking at me and growling at me I knew that they were not good at all. As I took a step back one of them growled. They all started approaching as I backed away in horror but unfortunately either way I wasn't going anywhere.
Who are they? What's happening? Where am I? All these questions ran through my head and I had to close my eyes for a split second before opening them to calm my mind down, to see they were walking towards me. I looked around my surroundings and planned on running. Where do I run?
I looked back and decided to run back.
I turned my body around and made a run for it as the three rogues were on my chase. But before I could get too far away from them I bumped into a hard chest making me fall really hard on the ground for the second time. I winced in pain and looked at the person who made me fall down, slowly.
I looked at their dark black shoes and slowly up to the legs. I don't know why I was being slow but I knew whoever it was it was going to frighten me. The vibes that surrounded this person was negative. I could feel it. My head eventually raised up to look at the person's face and my eyes widened as I gasped out in shock.
The red eyes stared down at me as they could see right through my soul. The fags as pointy as knives and the smirk that was crawling on his pale lips made a shiver run down my spine.
A vampire.
I jolted out of my bed with sweat covering my face like a second skin. I breathed in and out, then wiped my face with my hands. I ran my hands through my hair and looked around then sighed out in relief when I saw that I was still in my room, safe and sound.
I shook my head then bit my lip when I recalled the dream.
What a nightmare.
It was only a bad dream.
That was one of the weirdest yet creepiest things I ever dreamt of before. It felt so real but not so real at the same time. What creeped me out was the fact that the same vampire I saw two weeks ago was in the dream. I didn't think too much of it though, I guess since I kept thinking about it I was bound to dream about it. It happens.
But it still gave me the shills and I knew that this dream wasn't going to leave my mind any time soon.
I looked at the clock to see that it was 2 am in morning. It was pitch black outside. And quiet too. I got up and looked outside of the window just admiring the dark sparkly sky that had stars brightening it. I inhaled and closed my eyes. This was making me feel a little better.
I turned around and walked towards the door. I need to get myself a glass of water after what happened. My throat was dry and I needed to drink some water before I fainted from dehydration. I opened the door and slowly walked out of my room, really quiet, not wanting to wake anyone up. I walked down the stairs and towards the kitchen.
As I made it to the kitchen I turned the lights on and I smiled when I saw the fridge. Maybe I should get myself something to eat? I went towards the sink, grabbed myself a cup, and poured water into it. I was gulping the water down when I glanced outside the window which leads to the backyard and coughed out the water in shock and horror when I saw a face looking through the window and right at me.
My shaking hands placed the cup on the counter and at that moment I screamed. I screamed as my life depended on it. I screamed as I saw the really close face staring inside the packhouse and looking right at me. I couldn't really see the face well because of the blurry glass but I could see the eyes and the shape of the face. I ran outside the kitchen ready to alarm someone from the pack that there was an intruder when someone placed their hands on my mouth preventing me from screaming another time and pulled me outside the packhouse and into the backyard.
I was ready to freak out but feeling the familiar sparks erupting from the skin contact made me shut up yet furrow my brows in confusion. The hands that were covering my mouth loosened a bit as my back was against a hard chest that I knew who belonged to.
"Calm down, it's just me," Mason whispered in my ear which made a shiver run down my spine. He took his hands off of my mouth and I immediately turned and looked at him to see him looking down at me with an intense look but I could point out a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Wha-" I started but stopped to catch my breath. I closed my eyes then opened them to see Mason's dark eyes staring right at me.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked with a frown on my face. "Do you know how much you frightened me? You scared the living daylights out of me! I was literally about to inform the whole pack that there was some kind of psycho outside. I mean, who on earth just looks through a window like that? Especially at 2 am in the morning. It's creepy and scary. I thought you were an-," Mason caught off my blabbering with a light laugh that made me stop immediately at the sound of his voice.
My eyes widened as I stared at his amused face as I took little breaths. He barely smiled, yet he laughed right now. Is that even possible? He's always so serious yet he's laughing right this instant. I couldn't deny that when he laughed he looked much younger and more good-looking.
"Why are you laughing?" I asked. He looked down at me and amusement was written all over his face.
"You should've seen yourself," he told me. "It's ok, it was only me, no psycho over here," he said out in amusement. Surprisingly, I laughed as well. I looked up at him to see him staring intensely at me and I gulped then looked down.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked for the second time. He sighed and looked ahead.
"I couldn't sleep so I came out here to get some fresh air, then I saw the kitchen lights turn on so I looked through the window to see who it was and that's when you started screaming and I had to pull you out here so you wouldn't wake anybody up," Mason explained.
I nodded my head but couldn't help smiling at him.
"What were you doing out of bed?" He asked. I frowned when I remembered the dream but shrugged my shoulders.
"Couldn't sleep, so I decided to get myself a cup of water. That's when you showed up," I told him. He smiled at me. I stared at his face as a small smile came onto his lips. I didn't want to admit it but I liked it. That he smiled and not frowned. That he was like this and not serious. It wasn't like every day you get to see a smiling Mason.
And I knew that the image of him smiling won't get out of my head any time soon.
"Well you should head back," he spoke calmly. "Go get some rest." I looked down and nodded my head. I then looked up at him and slowly backed away.
"Head back also. You need rest as well," I told him. He nodded his head and placed his hands in his pockets. I turned around and started making my way back to the packhouse. I then remembered why I wanted to see him today so I stopped and turned around to look at him.
"Oh, also I want to say thank you for sticking up to me today. I really appreciated it," I told him with a small smile. He gave me a small smile as well and nodded his head.
And with that, I walked back into the packhouse and into my room with a soft smile on my face.
