Chapter 26

My eyes widened even more as the two guards that were with us leaped out of the car and immediately shifted. I was still in shock of what was in front of us, the red-eyed creature that held my stare for a good five seconds, the creature as white as snow that looked like it came out of a horror story, the creature that could suck every inch of your blood and have no feelings of remorse, a vampire.

Vampires weren't fictional characters in our everyday life. Of course, if werewolves and angels existed then so would vampires and other fictional characters a mere human would think of, including witches and wizards. It's just that vampires are rare to be found in a werewolf community. Like how we have packs, they have kingdoms. We choose not to mess with them and they choose not to mess with us due to the conflicts we had in our history. Unfortunately, there are times where we cross paths and when we do, it gets ugly. Let's just say that we have bad blood.

Unlike angels and witches, vampires are really common, including werewolves as well. Angels are really rare and so are witches but unfortunately, the two main species that had to be common were werewolves and vampires. Not a perfect match.

The vampire that was right in front of us hissed at the two guards that leaped on him but dodged it. The guards viciously growled at the bloodsucker and I looked at Lina to see the worry in her eyes. I gulped but looked back in front of us to see that the vampire was making a run for it as the two large werewolves were on his chase. I held my breath when the vampire stopped for a split second and made eye contact with me, a smirk crawling onto his pale lips showing off his fangs.

This sent shivers down my spine and immediately after that, the bloodsucker disappeared into the night like it was never there. All I could think of was the two cold eyes that looked like it could stare right through me. Lina was blabbing some stuff that I couldn't understand as she got out of the car to talk to the two guards that were now shifted into their human forms completely nude. I shook my head and immediately wanted to get back to the packhouse.

I still couldn't believe that I saw a vampire, I never even wanted to come across one in my entire life. But I did and it's not good at all. I'm confused as to why it was so close to the pack borders and why it fled like that immediately without pulling a fight. It's known that if you saw a vampire they would try to do anything to get a taste of your blood, but I guess we might have been lucky that this one wasn't willing to put up a fight.

I shook my head again.

We are in big trouble and no doubt Mason is already coming here this instant. I got out of the car as well and Lina came up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Are you ok?" She asked worry laced in her voice. I slowly and hesitantly nodded my head.

"Yeah, I am. I'm just shocked," I answered. She nodded her head as well and frowned.

"Yeah, me too. Why would a vampire be this close to our pack?" She asked in a low confused voice. I shook my head and rubbed my arms due to the cold shills that ran down my arms.

"I don't know, but you and I both know that we're in big trouble," I told her. She sighed out in frustration and nodded her head.

"Yes, I know. As a matter of fact, Mason will be here in a couple of minutes. As soon as I saw that nightwalker I immediately mind-linked Mason and he'll be here with some other guards and pack warriors. And let me tell you, he's not happy at all. He made it to the packhouse a long time ago," Lina explained. My frown deepened at her words.

Great.

I looked at the guards that were on the lookout but immediately turned my head when I remembered that they were completely nude. Just after that, I snapped my head when I heard sounds coming from a direction near us. Lina stiffened and I knew that it was Mason who was going to make an appearance any second now.

And boy was I right.

Mason came into sight looking angry as hell and other pack warriors were behind him. He looked at us and gave Lina and me both deadly stares which made my wolf whine. He immediately walked up to the guards that started to explain what happened as Lina and I both stood silent.

"Go patrol the area. I want that bloodsucker, dead or alive." Mason growled at the pack warriors. They all nodded their head and immediately ran off into the woods and out of our sights. Mason looked over at our direction and a growl erupted from his chest. I looked at Lina to see a worried expression on her face. I snapped my head back to Mason's direction when his scent got stronger as he walked up to us.

As soon as he was in front of us another growl erupted from him and he spoke in a very low voice, "head back to the packhouse. I will deal with you both later." We immediately nodded our heads and with no second thought, we walked to the pack with a couple of guards behind us, since we were anyway close to the packhouse we just walked there and didn't use the car. Besides, I don't think Mason would have trusted us to use the car.

We eventually made it to the packhouse and some of the pack members gave us weird glances as the guards walked in right after us. I excused myself back to my room not wanting to deal with anyone right now, especially an angry Mason once he comes back.

While I was walking to my room I couldn't help but wonder why there was a vampire near our pack borders. Hopefully, he will be caught but I'm wondering if this is a big deal or just a normal vampire who merely crossed our paths by accident. I mean, it could happen, right? What if he's no harm? I immediately shook my head at that and disagreed with myself.

Just today Mason called on a meeting to discuss this issue, no doubt those creatures he was talking about were vampires. Were there more of them? And if yes, why do they keep wandering around pack borders? Wondering around them isn't just something you could do around a pack, it's seen as a threat, especially if you're a rogue or a vampire.

All I know is that no one will be allowed to exit the pack this time, especially at night. And I'm sure Mason will make sure that everyone sticks to that.

I walked into my room and let a big breath out. I sighed and closed the door behind me as I walked into the silent room and sat on my bed as I waited for Mason to barge in here any minute now giving me a long lecture that might never end.

------------------------

I was just staring at the blank white ceiling in silence as I thought of what happened today. Lots of questions ran through my mind and I couldn't find a good answer to them. I bet I'm not the only one confused, I bet Lina doesn't exactly know what to think at this moment. I sighed and questioned how long I've been in this position, staring at the ceiling while laying on my bed?

I guess I was caught up on my thoughts, I can't seem to get that bloodsucker out of my mind. It was the very first time I ever laid eyes on one and it was not a good first impression, of course, it wasn't. They're vampires for God's sake. Creatures with no feelings of remorse whatsoever, creatures that roam in the night and hunt for the blood they desire. Creatures that scream death, are exactly what you'd expect from a horror movie. I just hope whoever that vampire was, he isn't a threat and everything will go back to normal.

I was pulled away from my thoughts when my bedroom door slammed open and a worried Adam ran in. I sat up and frowned at him as he sighed in relief when he looked at me.

"Dammit, Tiana. Don't scare me like that ever again," he said in a low tone and pulled me into a hug. My frown deepened but I hugged him back anyway.

"What's wrong?" I asked him even though I knew the answer.

He soon pulled away and ran his hand through his hair before speaking, "I was so worried that something happened to you, before you came back we received a message from the Alpha that they saw some creature near our pack borders and that they were coming back immediately, and when we found out that you and Lina weren't here, let's just say the alpha didn't take it so easily."

"Oh," I muttered, not liking that Mason's angry. "What did he say about the creatures?" I asked Adam.

"He said while he was in another pack someone reported something outside our pack borders, he didn't specifically say what it was but told us, the guards and pack warriors, to keep a lookout. We don't know if it's a threat of some sort so he said that until now, nobody is allowed to exit at night," Adam explained but frowned. "Not really sure why we aren't allowed to exit at night and not some other time," he muttered.

I exhaled knowing exactly the reason.

"Because it was a vampire that he was talking about, they only make an appearance at night," I told him. His eyes widened and a low growl erupted from his throat.

"A what?" He asked completely shocked.

"A vampire," I repeated. "We saw it when we were coming back but surprisingly it didn't attack us, just ran away into the woods," I explained. Adam's eyes held worry yet confusion in it as he comprehended my words.

"How can that be? A vampire and a werewolf haven't crossed paths in centuries, we both know that our kind shouldn't be near them or chaos may erupt," Adam questioned and I shrugged my shoulders in confusion.

"I don't know Adam, maybe it was by accident. All I know for now is that Mason is trying to catch that bloodsucker," I said. Adam sighed and nodded his head but stiffened as we heard footsteps coming it's way to my room.

"Speaking of the alpha," Adam said in annoyance as Mason's scent hit my nostrils. I stiffened as well and immediately my bedroom door was slammed open for the second time today. An angry Mason came stalking into my room but immediately stopped dead in his track when he laid eyes on Adam and me sitting on my bed together. His eyes turned a shade darker and a low growl came out of his mouth that I barely caught on to.

"Out," he growled at Adam with no second thought. Adam furrowed his brows in confusion and glanced at me before looking at the angry alpha that was in front of us.

"Why?" Adam asked and I looked at him with wide eyes, I surely didn't want him to anger the already angry Mason that was in front of us.

"I said out, don't make me repeat myself for the third time," Mason growled once again as he stepped closer to us. I narrowed my eyes on him but looked at Adam and nodded my head. He sighed out in frustration but nodded his head.

"I'll be back soon," he whispered which made Mason growl again and I couldn't help glaring at him. I didn't forget what happened this morning so I didn't really want to talk to him even though I know it was my fault.

Adam gave Mason another glare before getting up and walking out of my room. I slowly looked at Mason and knew what he was here for. I know, I deserve whatever lecture I was supposed to get for disobeying his orders but my stubborn mouth of mine has its mind of its own and can't help but to be stupid at times like these.

"What do you want?" I asked annoyed as I stood up but immediately regretted the tone I used.

Dammit.

"What do I want?" Mason growled. My eyes widened at his hard tone. "Did you forget what happened just moments ago?" He asked. I sighed and shook my head.

"I didn't, I know why you're here. I get it, I disobeyed your orders and you want to give me a long ass lecture. I'm sorry, ok? We just thought that we'd be here before the sun sets," I tried to explain. He growled and shook his head.

"Well you didn't," he growled loudly. "What would have happened if you didn't have two guards with you?" He asked and my frown deepened. "You wouldn't be here right now, do you get that, Tiana?" He shouted. "And that's all because you're stubborn as hell to actually listen for once."

I furrowed my brows at him and growled back, I couldn't help but get defensive. I know I'm not in the right place to but it's just how I am.

"I'm stubborn? Really, Mason? Go look at a mirror and see how you act, yes, we disobeyed your orders and I'm sorry for that but I'm not the only one who has issues," I growled harshly. His eyes turned completely black and he stepped closer to me.

"Watch your mouth," he growled lowly. "Remember who you're talking to," he sneered. I scoffed and crossed my arms against my chest.

"Don't pull that alpha shit on me," I growled. "See what I'm talking about? I can't speak my mind with you without you pulling that shit on me," I told him. He shook his head.

"We are going off-topic, Tiana." He growled loudly. "You are too impossible to deal with, why can't you just sit down quiet for once?" He growled. I growled back and furrowed my brows.

"What, Mason? You expect me to agree and obey your every word like everyone else does?" I asked.

"Yes, because I am your alpha-," he started.

"There we go again. You are not my alpha," I growled at him and he pushed me against the wall, glaring at me with cold hard eyes.

"I am, as long as you are in my pack I am your alpha, Tiana." He hissed. I closed my eyes to calm myself down and knew that I got out of hand. I thought of what I said. I guess I was rude, I opened my eyes and sighed.

"Just get out of my room," I said, not wanting to argue any longer. He growled and shook his head.

"No, you will listen to what I have to say," he said stubbornly as he looked into my eyes. I pushed him away from me.

"Just get out, you're right. I'm stubborn and my mouth gets the best of me, I don't really feel like arguing with you right now." I told him as I turned away. I heard him growl out in annoyance.

"You're so hard to deal with," he muttered while taking a step away from me. I snapped my head ready to tell him that he was the same when I saw he was gone. Nowhere in sight. Out of my room as his scent lingered in my room, I frowned and sat on my bed thinking about what just happened. I shook my head and shut off the connection with my wolf as she lectured me for having this argument with my mate.

Great, I guess that's two fights in one day. What a nice day it was, note the sarcasm.

But now that I think of it, he didn't give me a punishment. I sighed and was thankful that he didn't. But all I could think of was the words he kept telling me. Which I knew were right in some way.

Was I really hard to deal with?
