Chapter 18
He pulled me closer to him as he deepened the kiss and held my face in his hands. I stood there shocked but eventually, the shock vanished and I kissed him back. I held onto his shirt and squeezed it before he pulled away leaving me standing looking up at him in confusion.
What the hell did we just do? Did I really just kiss him?
He looked down at me with pitch-black eyes that held desire in them, he soon closed them shut as I tried to regain my thoughts. He eventually opened them once again and his eyes were back to normal. He took a step back as I tried to find the words to say, but it was like I was mute. Not able to say a single word.
He took a deep breath and took another step back as he ran his hand roughly through his hair.
"That was a mistake," he growled. I gulped and felt a hint of sadness even though I didn't want to feel it. My wolf turned from yelping in joy to whimpering in sorrow. "My wolf took control, that was never meant to happen." He growled again and before I could say anything else he turned away and walked back into the packhouse.
I inhaled and closed my eyes. Why did I enjoy that kiss? I didn't want to but I did and there's no denying in that. But also why am I bothered that he left me? I mean, if he hadn't left then I sure would so why did I feel angry? I shook my head and ran my hands through my hair. I shouldn't really care. I'll just go back inside and have some fun and act like that never happened.
I sighed and turned around and started walking back to the packhouse. The music got louder as I walked closer and into the packhouse. I cringed when I saw two people making out like their lives were depending on it. I rolled my eyes and squeezed past them and continued to walk.
My eyes widened when I saw a couple of people passed out on the floor and people drinking like there was no tomorrow. I turned my head and saw Lina dancing crazily to the music. She caught my stare and waved her hand at me.
"Tiana!" She shouted. "Where were you? Come join the fun." She yelled as loud as she can through the blasting music.
I gave her a small smile and walked towards her. Maybe this will set my mind at ease. Lina grabbed my hands and I started dancing with her as she laughed. We were dancing like reckless teenagers and I loved it. Everyone around us was dancing as well.
Ryder came up to us and handed us drinks. We took them from him and gulped them down in one go and told him to get us more. The music got louder as everyone else got looser. There were bodies rubbing against each other and people shoving their tongues down others' throats.

I giggled as Ryder and Tyler came and joined us. After a while of dancing, we went to drink some more. Since we were werewolves alcohol didn't really affect us as much as it does with humans so we were still sober but that didn't mean we can't get drunk if we drank a lot.
I grabbed another drink and gulped it down. I knew I looked stupid but it was the only way I could get him out of my mind. Besides, it's going to take me a lot to get me drunk. After the music got quieter I decided to do something that I would never have done if it wasn't for Lina's birthday. I stood on top of the table.
I shouted for everyone's attention and they all stopped and looked at me. Some gave me weird glances and some laughed as they saw me.
"I would like to have everyone's attention," I yelled. Mostly everyone looked at me and I smiled in satisfaction.
"Good," I muttered to myself. "I would like to propose a toast for my best friend's birthday," I said as I looked at her. She had a huge smile on her face. "I hope today was a great day and I'm happy for having a friend like you."
I heard a couple of 'aww' as everyone grabbed a drink.
"Oh, enough of all the sweet talk. Cheers." I yelled as everyone else raised their drinks in the air then gulped their drinks down their throats.
I got down from the table as everyone else started dancing and doing the stuff they did before I interrupted them. Lina gave me a hug and Ryder gave me a pat on the back and then we all started dancing again. Yup, too much dancing tonight.
After a couple of hours, the party came to an end and everyone else went back to their rooms. Lina gave me a hug then pulled away with a huge smile on her face.
"Thanks for everything," she said. I rolled my eyes at her.
"It's not like I'm the one that planned the party," I told her. She chuckled and shook her head.
"Yeah, you're right. You didn't even do anything." She said as she crossed her arms against her chest.
"I did, actually. I came to the party. And I also bought you a gift," I smirked. She shrugged her shoulders as she stepped back.
"Yeah, whatever." She rolled her eyes. "I'm going to go back to my room. I'll see you tomorrow." She waved her hand then walked up the stairs and out of my sight. I looked around the place and felt sorry for whoever was going to clean this mess up. I sighed and walked up the stairs and back to my room.
I changed into my pajamas and laid on my bed. I looked at the clock and saw it was almost midnight. I closed my eyes and thought of the kiss. I tried to forget it throughout the whole party but it was always in the back of my mind and I hated that. I grabbed another pillow and placed it on top of my face and screamed into the pillow.

This is how I get all my frustration out.
After hours and hours of staring at the ceiling and doing nothing, I decided to go get a drink of water. I tried sleeping but every time I close my eyes I thought of you know who. It was so frustrating and it prevented me from sleeping. I got up from my bed and slowly opened my bedroom door and walked carefully downstairs to not wake anybody.
As I walked down the stairs I noticed that the living room lights were on, I shrugged it off and guessed that it was someone cleaning all the mess. As I made it to the end of the stairs my breath was caught in my throat.
There was Mason passed out on the ground with drinks all around him. I'm guessing he drank himself to sleep but passed out on the ground. I breathed out and slowly walked to the kitchen so I wouldn't wake him up.
I drank a glass of water then turned around to head back when I heard him groan. I looked at him and he looked like he was in an uncomfortable position. I didn't know if I should just ignore him or help him back to his room but thanks to my wolf she made me feel slightly guilty if I just left him there.
I slowly walked up to him and stood there for a while just staring at him. What do I do now? I kneeled down and poked his arm.
"Mason," I whispered. He didn't move. I breathed again and poked him a little harder. "Mason, wake up." He stirred for a bit and eventually opened his eyes but looked lost. He must have drunk a lot to become drunk to the point to pass out. But why would he do that?
"Tiana?" He groaned looking at me. I sighed and nodded my head.
"Yes, it's me. Get up so I could help you get back to your room." I told him ignoring his stare.
He raised his hand and I looked at him confused but stiffened when he cupped my cheek.
"Tiana," he whispered. I gulped but shook his hand off.
"Come on, Mason. Get up." I said. He tried to get up but only groaned. I grabbed his arm and tried to pull him as much as my strength allowed me to. He eventually was on his feet but I had to hold him so he wouldn't fall. I could tell that he wasn't himself. Of course, he wasn't. He was drunk. He kept staring at me as I helped him to his room.
It was hard because of his weight but eventually, we made it to his room. I opened his door and walked him towards his bed. He laid on his bed and closed his eyes. I sighed out and took his shoes off so he could be more comfortable.
I didn't know why I was doing this but I felt like I needed to. I was about to turn around and walk away when he grabbed my hand. I looked at him and his eyes were open once again.
"Come here," he whispered. I shook my head at him.
"I can't, I need to get to my room," I told him and tried to release his grip from my hand. He ignored me and pulled me towards him which lead to me falling on top of him.
He stared at me for a while before speaking.
"You're beautiful," he muttered. My eyes widened and I didn't know what to do. He raised his hand and let his finger roam my cheek. "You were beautiful today." He whispered. If it wasn't for my werewolf hearing I wouldn't have heard it. I gulped and turned my head away.
"I need to go," I told him softly. He didn't say anything but held my face in both his hands and pulled my face closer to his. My breath was caught in my throat when his lips were on mine for the second time today. My eyes were wide in shock as he kissed me softly. His lips were moving against mine as I stood still.
I eventually closed my eyes and responded to the kiss. I gripped his shirt in my hands and kissed him back. The kiss was slow and soft but I pulled away when I needed to catch my breath. I looked at him as his eyes started to close and his breath started to even out. He let go of my face and his head tilted to the side.
I looked at him in confusion. Did he just fall asleep on me? I shook my head and bit my lip. I guess it's better. He would just think that what happened was a dream. I pulled away and looked at him. I had the urge to sleep and cuddle up next to him but shook my head once again.
I can't believe we kissed again, maybe it was because he was drunk. He didn't mean the words he said, right? My wolf was telling me otherwise but I shut her off and slowly walked out of his room.
There goes my sleep.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
