Chapter 16

Kyle and Adam immediately got up from the ground and placed their heads down. Alpha Mason walked closer but kept his eyes on me which only made me gulp. This was bad, really bad. He stomped towards us and anger was radiating off of him. His hand was clenched at his side like he was ready to throw a punch. He turned his glare to Adam and Kyle as he growled out loudly.

"What the hell is going on?" He growled. Adam looked at me and I breathed in and bit my lip. He looked at Alpha Mason as he clenched his jaw.

"I was only giving him a warning," Adam said. Alpha Mason's eyes narrowed at him as he took a step closer.

"For what?" He growled lowly. Kyle's eyes widened as he gulped and glared at Adam.

"Nothing, he's lying." Kyle butted in. Adam growled which only made Alpha Mason growl as well. I glared at Kyle but kept my mouth shut and new Adam could handle it.

"For what?" He growled again but loudly this time. Kyle placed his head down and I snickered softly but brought my gaze back at Adam.

"For leaving Tiana alone, he was bothering her," Adam muttered. Alpha Mason's gaze turned to me as his eyes darkened but soon glared at Kyle and stepped towards him.

"Is that true?" He growled. Kyle flinched and I crossed my arms against my chest. Ok, maybe this isn't too bad. Kyle remained silent and didn't say a word but that only made Alpha Mason angrier.

"I said, is that true?" He roared out in anger. Kyle looked up and sighed.

"Yes, it's true." He muttered lowly. I raised a brow and widened my eyes when he stepped closer to him and threw a punch directly to Kyle's face which only lead to him falling to the ground. Kyle looked back up with wide eyes that held fear in them. I tried not to feel guilty because he did do this to himself.

Alpha Mason punched him again which made him wince in pain. Adam backed away and placed his hand on my shoulder trying to tell me everything was ok. I sighed and nodded my head and looked away from the scene in front of us.

Alpha Mason eventually stopped and backed away as guards came running towards us. He looked over to me and his eyes immediately turned back to normal and I couldn't miss that growl that came out of his mouth. The guards picked Kyle up from the ground and Alpha Mason glared back at him.

"I gave you an order but you defied me. I am your alpha and you will obey my orders without any arguments. You will stay in the dungeons for two weeks as a punishment and if you disobey me once again I will not hesitate to kick you out of my pack and make you a rogue. Do I make myself clear?" He asked.

Kyle huffed which only made Alpha Mason growl again.

"Do I need to repeat myself?" He sneered. Kyle gulped and shook his head.

"No, Alpha. I understand." He replied. He nodded his head and looked over to the guards.

"Take him away," he told them. They nodded their heads before saying 'yes Alpha' and walking away with Kyle in their grip.

Alpha Mason turned his attention on us and clenched his jaw, he was looking at Adam's hand on my shoulder but immediately looked away and turned around.

"Go back to your rooms, I don't want to see any of you out at this time." He ordered. We nodded our heads and walked back into the packhouse with him behind us. I looked back and saw Alpha Mason looking at me with his hands in his pockets, his stare was emotionless but I turned away and walked up the stairs and into my room.

I sighed and laid on my bed and thought about today. I groaned and rubbed my face with my hands and closed my eyes. I yawned and before I fell asleep I thought about one thing and that was why this mate thing is so frustrating?

I groaned when I felt the light shining right at me. I wasn't one of those girls who woke up happy and beautiful as if they didn't even sleep at all. No, I was one of those girls who woke up with eye boogers and drool at the side of my mouth, there was nothing to be embarrassed about. It's natural. I opened my eyes and sighed as I got off of my bed and checked the time.

It was still early so I decided to take a shower and change into something. It has been a week since that incident with Kyle and today is Lina's birthday. I wasn't able to buy her a present because of all the stuff that's been going on and one of my main reasons was because I was too lazy, but today I decided to go to the city and buy something for her.

I have Nick's permission so I don't need to ask you know who. I just need to take a guard and a friend with me. I went to my closet and picked out a red summer dress and my underwear and bra. I walked into the bathroom and stripped out of my clothes then jumped into the shower.

I sighed when the water hit my skin. Now, this is what I call relaxation. After I was done showering I wrapped a towel around my body and dried my hair first. After a while, my hair finally dried and I started to wear my clothes and tied my hair into a ponytail, and brushed my teeth before walking out of the bathroom.

I was meet with the cold breeze and shivered slightly. I wore heels and walked out of my room and towards Kayla's room. It's been a while since I last saw her and I decided to take her with me to keep me. Well, if she agrees. I stopped in front of her door and knocked on it.

After a while, the door opened and I was meet with a smiling Kayla.

"Tiana! It's been so long. How are you?" She asked. I smiled as she pulled me into a hug.

"I'm good," I said as she pulled away. "How are you?" I asked. Her smile grew as she let me in her room.

"I'm fantastic," she replied but soon tilted her head. "Is there something you need?" She asked.

"I'm going to the city today and was wondering if you could accompany me?" I told her. She thought about it but finally nodded her head with a smile on her face.

"Of course, that seems fun. Besides, I haven't gotten out of the packhouse in a long time." She said. I nodded my head and smiled. When I first meet her she seemed like a shy and insecure person but now she's a little different. I guess with time a person changes.

"You wait here while I go change into something presentable," she said. I looked at her clothes and she was wearing her pajamas. I chuckled softly and nodded my head again. She walked into her bathroom with some clothes and I sat down on a chair and waited.

Her room was like mine and everyone else's. A bed, closet, bathroom, and some other stuff. I looked around the plain room and turned my attention back towards the bathroom door when it opened. Kayla walked out in a summer dress also. She was really pretty and I wouldn't doubt that the guys fall over to her feet. I'm nowhere like her.

"You ready?" I asked as I got up from the chair. She nodded her head with a small smile.

"Yes, let's go." She answered. We walked out of her room and down the stairs. We exited the packhouse and was met with a guard next to a car.

"Are you Tiana?" He asked. I nodded my head at him.

"Yes, I am," I replied. He nodded his head as well and opened the car door for us. I smiled gratefully at him as we sat in the car. There was a person sitting in the driver's seat so I'm guessing he's the driver. I smiled at him as the guard sat in front.

The driver started the car and drove off. I looked at the guard as he looked forward. He had an emotionless face on and that only made me roll my eyes. Why can't one of the guards ever loosen up? It's not like something is going to attack any moment now. Well, I can't really complain. It is their job.

I looked over at Kayla and she was looking out the window, she turned her face over to me and smiled a small smile.

"So? I'm guessing the reason we're out today is because of Lina's birthday?" She told me. I smiled back at her and nodded my head.

"Yes it is, how did you know?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders.

"I heard some pack members mentioning it, lots of rumors go by really quick." She answered. "Especially the one about you and the Alpha."

I sighed and placed my head against the window, of course, the rumors wouldn't stop too soon.

"You heard about them too?" I sighed again. She nodded her head at me.

"So? Is it true?" She asked. I looked at her and raised a brow.

"Depends, what are they?" I asked.

"Some say you're related to the Alpha, that's why he let us stay but I know that's not right because if you were you wouldn't have been in the dungeons when I first came here. Others say you're his mate," she said. I slowly nodded my head telling her to continue, "and some others say you're sleeping with him."

My eyes widened and I looked at the driver and guard in embarrassment but they weren't paying attention to us, I think. They didn't even have a reaction and for that I was thankful. I looked back at Kayla and she was staring at me with wide eyes.

"Oh, Tiana." She groaned. "Please don't tell me-" I immediately caught her off.

"No, I'm not," I told her. She sighed out in relief and nodded her head. "So they are all wrong?" She asked. I sighed and shook my head.

"No, the second one was right. I'm his mate." I muttered lowly. She slowly nodded her head.

"It all makes sense now, no wonder he didn't kill us." She stated. I ran a hand through my hair and shook my head.

"Can we like, not talk about this?" I asked softly. She nodded her head and smiled.

"Yes, sorry." She answered. I gave her a grateful smile as we talked about the party tonight. After a while, we made it to the city and the driver parked us in the city center telling us that he will remain here until we come back. Kayla, the guard, and I got out of the car and started walking as the guard was behind us.

"So, what are you planning to buy?" She asked. I thought about it and shrugged my shoulders.

"I don't really know, maybe a dress and a necklace. Something like that." I replied. One thing you should know about me is that I'm horrible at buying presents.

She nodded her head and smiled, "well, while we are at it I want to buy a dress for tonight. I don't really have something nice to wear."

I nodded my head as we continued to walk.

We went to several shops but I couldn't find anything that would be Lina's type. We entered another shop and I sighed. I just hope that I could find something from here. I looked at a couple of dresses till I saw a black dress. This dress was beautiful and I could imagine how it would look on Lina. I looked at the size and smiled gratefully when I saw it was Lina's size.

I grabbed the dress and smiled at Kayla.

"I think this will work, I just need to find a necklace or a bracelet," I told her. She nodded her head as she looked at the dresses that were in her hand.

"I'm going to see if any of these look good on me," she said. I nodded my head and she walked into the fitting room. I looked around the shop and saw a jewelry section. I walked toward the section and looked at the necklaces. I looked over some of them until I saw one necklace that caught my eye. It wasn't much and wasn't too little. It was cute yet simple. I bet Lina would like this so I decided to buy this one.

I grabbed the necklace but snapped my head to my right when I heard familiar voices coming from another section. My eyes widened when I realized who they were and I mentally groaned.

Please, not them again. Above all people, it had to be them?

"This dress is perfect for you, Chloe. Just wait until Mason sees this on you, he'll totally fall to your feet."

I backed away and saw Chloe and her minions appear.

"I know, he can't play too hard to get for long," Chloe said. I growled lowly but stopped before they could hear me.

"Yeah, you're right. I mean, who could not be attracted to you?" Another girl said. I mentally gagged and cringed.

Well, if I was a boy, I wouldn't be attracted to her.

I backed away with the necklace in my hand and went back to where I was. Kayla opened the door with a dress in her hand and smiled.

"You found a perfect dress?" I asked her wanting to get out of here. She nodded her head and I grabbed her hand.

"Good, now let's get out of here," I told her. We paid for our stuff and walked out. I sighed in relief that they didn't see us. I didn't really want to face her nor her minions. While we were walking back to the car we grew silent and things just kind of turned awkward.

I looked over Kayla and decided to ask her a question.

"So, did you ever find your mate?" I asked. She stopped and looked at me. I looked into her eyes and all I could see was hurt.

I realized what I asked was a sensitive subject so I immediately apologized.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"It's ok," she said as she started walking again. "It's just something hard to talk about." I nodded my head and gave her a smile as she returned it. We made it back to the car and got in. I looked at Kayla one more time with a hint of confusion before looking out the car window and placing my head against the glass.
