Chapter 14
"What?" Adam and I asked together. Alpha Mason stepped closer and growled again.
"You heard me, pup," he said and emphasized the word pup. Adam growled at him which made him growl again but even louder this time.
"She's with me," Adam said. I looked at him as Alpha Mason stepped closer. Was he signing his own death wish? I might think Adam is a pain in the butt and immature but I don't want him injured.
"Adam, it's ok. I'll just go with him," I told him giving him a knowing look which meant if he disagreed with me then I'm going to haunt his dreams and smack the living daylight out of him. He huffed and furrowed his brows in anger but nodded his head.
"Be careful," he said. I smiled at him and nodded my head.
"Don't worry. I can take care of myself," I told him. He chuckled but frowned when Alpha Mason told me to get ready. To be honest, I don't know why he wanted to partner up with me but I shrugged it off and decided to not think about it. He glanced at me but immediately turned around and faced the others.
"Ok, in a count of three we start." He said. Everyone including myself nodded their heads. He came up to me and stood next to me and our hands brushed against each other which made tingles erupt. I tried as much as possible to ignore my wolf begging me to kiss him. I shook my head and focused my attention on the woods.
Once he said three we started running. We went in a different direction as everyone else went in another way. We soon stopped and faced each other.
"We'll shift then continue," he said. I nodded my head and went behind a tree and took my clothes off. I shifted into my wolf and walked back to where we were. I was met with the same silver wolf I saw a couple of times. Once his eyes landed on me they turned a darker shade but he looked away and spoke through the mind link.
"Let's start moving," he said. I held back my wolf and nodded my head. We started running and a couple of times his fur brushed against my fur which made my wolf want to take control. I could tell his wolf was doing the same because of the constant change of colors in his eyes.
After a while of running, we decided to stop and drink water from a river. As he was drinking I finally decided to ask why he picked me for a partner. I mean, it doesn't look like he actually likes me or something. My wolf scoffed at that and I shrugged my shoulders at her. I don't really care if he doesn't. I shook my head and spoke.
"Why did you partner up with me?" I asked through the mind link. He lifted his head and stared at me but didn't say anything.
"Because," he replied after a while. I mentally rolled my eyes at him.
"Because why?" I asked again. He growled lowly and stepped closer to me.
"I don't really need to give you an explanation." He said. I huffed and growled lowly which made him step closer to me.
"All I'm asking is one simple question, what? Is your ego that big for you not to answer a simple question?" I asked. He was literally getting on my nerves.

He growled loudly.
"Don't forget who you're talking to," he stated. I growled and stepped closer to him. Ok, I know I shouldn't be fighting with him but he has a brain that's harder than a rock. I'm serious.
"You're going to pull that alpha card on me again?" I asked.
"You need to know your place," he growled out.
"My place? Well did you forget that I'm your-," I was caught off when he growled again.
"My what? My mate?" He asked. "Don't forget that I don't want one, not now and never will."
My wolf whimpered and I instantly felt something in me hurt which I did not want to feel at all. I shook off that feeling and told myself that I didn't want one too.
"Why don't you reject me then?" I asked as my wolf growled at me. His eyes widened and turned a shade darker. "Since we both know we won't be good for each other," I stated. He growled loudly but snapped his head over when we heard growls coming our way. He sniffed the air and growled. He turned to me and stepped closer.
"Rogues." My eyes widened. What's the deal with constantly being attacked by rogues? Do we have some sort of sign in front of the pack that says 'Welcome rogues'?
"There's three of them," he growled as we started to run away from them.
"I can take them on, you go." He said. I shook my head at him.
"No, we can take them on together," I stated.
"Will you not be stubborn for once and listen to what I say?" He growled. I slowly nodded my head as three wolves were behind us. He stopped running and fought the wolves. I had the urge to help but knew he could take care of himself.
I ran off but noticed one of the rogues was behind me. I ran faster and so did the rogue. I eventually stopped and faced the rogue and growled at him. He growled back and walked up to me. He jumped at me but I moved away and bit into his neck.
He growled again and pushed me off of him. He bit into my leg but I used my other leg to hit him on his face as hard as I can. I got up and bit into his neck again but this time I ripped a chunk of skin. He growled in pain and I bit dipper. After a while of struggling, he finally became motionless.
I stepped away from the dead body and sighed in relief when I saw Alpha Mason running towards me. He stopped and looked at the rogue that was now in human form drowning in its own blood. He brought his attention back to me and spoke through the mind link.
"I took care of the other rogues," he stated. I nodded my head at him. "I'm going to need more guards at the borders," he sent to everybody.
I went behind a tree and shifted. I grabbed a random long shirt and wore it. I walked out and saw Alpha Mason in shorts. He looked at me and stared at me tensely. I pulled the shirt down so it could hide as much skin as possible and walked up to him.
Now, this is where my clumsy side kicked in because out of nowhere I accidentally tripped when I was directly in front of Alpha Mason and fell on him. I know, cliché. He stumbled back a few steps but held my hips tightly. I slowly raised my head up and made eye contact with him and let me tell you, our faces were so close. My eyes widened as he turned darker.

He flickered his eyes down at my lips and I stood there speechless. Somehow our heads got even closer but we immediately pulled apart when we heard running coming towards us. We snapped our heads towards the source of the sound and Nick and a couple of guards came into view.
"Alpha, Tiana, are you ok?" Nick asked. We nodded our heads and the guards took the bodies away.
"I want you to double the guards around the borders. I don't know why but we keep having rogues attack and we don't want that," he said. Nick nodded his head as he went and talked with the guards. Alpha Mason looked at me and we stared at each other for a while until he turned around and his back was facing me.
"Let's head back," he said. He then turned to Nick and told him, "you deal with the other pack warriors." We walked back in silence and when we were in front of the packhouse he looked at me and spoke.
"Don't ever bring up the subject of rejection because that's never happening," he said and walked away. I stood there with a wide eye and my mouth was hanging open that a fly could have just flown in it. Did I hear right? I didn't know what to feel. He told me he doesn't want a mate yet he doesn't want to reject me?
I shook my head. He is indeed confusing but I couldn't deny the feeling of relief that washed over me. I quickly shrugged it off and walked inside the packhouse and into my room. I laid on my bed and sighed. I stared at the ceiling for a while. I just found it the most interesting thing at the moment.
Like how the white color was so bright. Or how the platform was smooth even though I can't really touch it. I know, I'm talking crazy talk. It's what I do best.
I turned my head when the door slammed open. I sat up as Lina and Adam came running towards me with a relieved face on.
"What did I say about scaring me like that?" Adam asked and crossed his arms against his chest as Lina sat next to me. I smiled sheepishly at him as he looked down at me.
"I'm sorry, it wasn't like I was holding a huge magnet that pulls rogues towards me," I told him. He sighed and sat next to me.
"You're going to be the death of me," he muttered which only made Lina and I chuckle. We talked for a bit and I had to listen to Adam talking about how he still can't get the hang of the showers here and how he's always struggling. I rolled my eyes at him and got up when I heard a knock at my door.
Wow, I think this is the first time in a long time someone has knocked on my door. I bet whoever was behind it was a gentleman, unlike some people.
But once I opened the door I immediately took back what I just thought. There stood Ryder in all his glory. Once he saw me he smiled a huge smile and engulfed me in a tight hug.
"Oh, thank goodness. I don't know what I would have done if my girlfriend got injured." He stated. I rolled my eyes and pulled away.
"Don't worry, I can take care of myself and call me your girlfriend one more time and you'll wake up with a tube down your throat," I told him as if I was asking him about the weather today. He chuckled but nodded his head.
He entered my room and sat on a chair. I noticed that Adam was glaring at him, I raised a brow and sat next to him giving him a questioning look.
"What is he doing here?" Adam whispered. I frowned at him and shrugged my shoulders.
"The same reason why you and Lina are here," I told him. He grumbled and continued to glare at him. I paid no attention to that and faced Lina. She was too busy talking to Ryder and discussing her dream she had last night. How interesting.
After a couple of hours, they left my room and when my stomach growled I decided to get something to eat. I walked out of my room and was about to head down the stairs when I saw a maid coming my way holding so many bedsheets. I walked up to her and smiled.
"Do you need any help?" I asked her. She smiled gratefully at me and nodded her head.
"Oh yes, please." She said as she gave me a bedsheet. "Can you please take this to the Alpha's room?" She asked. My eyes widened in hesitant but her grateful smile made me nod my head.
"Sure, where is his room?" I asked. I just hoped that I wouldn't bump into him.
"Go up the stairs and walk till you're at the end of the hall, his room is to your left." She replied. I smiled at her and nodded my head. I walked up the stairs and looked down the hall. This was the first time I have been here ever since we came here last month.
I hesitantly walked down the hall until I was at the end. I looked to my left and saw a room. I walked up to it and softly knocked on it. No answer, I sighed out in relief and slowly opened the door. I was greeted with a plain white room with black curtains that were closed. I stepped into the room but stopped in shock when I looked at the bed.
There on the bed was a sleeping man and I knew who it was. Obviously, it was his room. Alpha Mason was sleeping on his back with his left arm over his eyes. I slowly walked further to place the bedsheet on the chair without waking him up. This is what I get for being nice.
I placed the bedsheet on the chair and walked towards the door. I stopped and glanced back and scanned my eyes over his body, his breath was evened out and he looked so relaxed and so calm, never like when he's awake. I turned back and slowly walked up to him, I don't know why but I felt like something was pulling me towards him.
Once I was next to the bed I could see his face much better. I examined it and even though I didn't like the thought I couldn't deny that he was handsome. I raised my hand and wanted to brush his hair. It looked so soft and I had to feel it.
I placed my fingers right above his hair and softly touched it but as soon as I did that his eyes snapped open and he grabbed my hand, roughly. His eyes were dark but wide in shock and the only thing I could think of was one thing.
Oh shit.
