Chapter 5
"What?" I whispered. The guard that was in front of me only smirked. He grabbed my arm roughly and pulled me up while I only winced at the pain he was causing.
"You didn't think you would have survived did you?" He asked then chuckled darkly. "Let me tell you, no one gets away without a punishment."
I growled and tried to let him let go of me but the way he was holding my arm was impossible.
"Let me go!" I kept repeating but that didn't stop him from pulling me outside of the cell. When he dragged me outside of the cell I growled in anger when I saw three guards trying to hold a struggling Adam. He kept yelling and growling for them to let us go but that only made more guards come up to him.
"Let her go!" Adam growled.
"Shut up, pup." One guard sneered and continued to pull us towards the dungeon doors. I looked back and saw a guard was holding a scared Kayla that was on the verge of tears.
Once again I tried to set myself free by pulling myself as far away from them as possible or by whatever movement that will make them let go of me but that only made the guard holding me growl loud enough to echo around the dungeon walls.
"Stop it or I will kill you myself if I have to," he growled. My wolf whimpered in fear while I just looked down to not anger him any further.
This guy has some anger management problems.
They dragged me once again and by the corner of my eye, I could see Adam was starring at me with worry. I wish I could talk with him using the mind link but we can't because we aren't shifted into our wolves and also we can't communicate using the mind link in our human forms because we are not in our pack anymore which means we aren't pack members but instead rogues. Only pack members can communicate with the mind link in human form and in wolf.
Once we were outside of the dungeon I closed my eyes because of too much light. It has been a while since I last enjoyed the sunlight.
They dragged us to dark halls and stairs and eventually stopped in front of a big old metal door. My wolf was purring and moving constantly in my head and there was one explanation for that. Our mate was behind these walls.
I breathed in and out trying to calm myself and my wolf down. She still wanted to be with her mate even though it pretty clear we might die today because of him. She kept telling me that Mason's wolf isn't that bad and he actually wants us, it's just the human that's refusing and rejecting us.
I was caught off from my thoughts when the guards started opening the door. I looked at Adam and he was staring back at me, his eyes were sending me a message which I immediately knew what it was.
Don't worry. Everything will be ok.
I gave him a small smile and looked forward.
When the door was completely open the three of us were dragged into the big dim room that screamed death. There wasn't anybody in the room until I immediately smelled the wonderful smell and was soon greeted with dark eyes.
Alpha Mason was standing in front of us with an emotionless face. His eyes were hard and they manly settled on me. I wondered if he felt anything for me, whether it was anger, disgust, or something else. But I didn't really care for whatever feelings he felt towards me.

I looked down but snapped my head up when I saw the thing that was in the middle of the room. It was a rope that was hanged from the ceiling with a circle at the end of it. My face definitely held shock and I bet Kayla and Adam felt the same. All blood left my face and my wolf was whimpering and whining in my head.
They are going to hang us! He's going to hang us!
"You all know that the consequences of crossing my territory without my permission are death, yet you still crossed it." He said in a hard tone, I gulped when he looked at me with his cold eyes. That's it, I'm dead. "I don't care what the purpose was, you still did that and I do not tolerate any rogues in my territory, no matter who you are."
I looked down and tried to prevent the tears from falling. If I'm going to die like this, then I'm not going to die like a coward.
When I looked back up he nodded his head to the guard that was next to me and averted his eyes from mine. The guard grabbed my arm and I immediately started to struggle.
"No, let go of her!" Adam yelled. The guard was too strong and pulled me to the middle of the room.
"Please, kill me first!" Adam yelled, desperately. I looked at him through my blurry vision and saw his face was red and he was about to break down into tears. I gave him a small smile to lessen his worry but it didn't do much.
Alpha Mason wasn't looking at me and his hands were clenched. He looked furious, I don't know what was the reason but it looked like he was about to burst.
The guard pulled me towards the rope and my face started to sweat. He made me go on the hard stool and stand on it. I closed my eyes when I felt the rope go around my neck. Well, I guess this is the end. I never would have thought my life would end this fast. I still wanted to do so many things in my life but I guess that's never happening.
While this was happening Adam was growling hysterically and begging for them to let me go.
I opened my eyes and gave Adam a pleading look. I slowly looked at the alpha who wasn't looking my way, as if he knew I was staring at him we made eye contact and his eyes were pitch black. The guard was about to pull the stool off when we heard a loud growl.
"Stop!" My eyes widened at the person who said that.
Alpha Mason.
The guard immediately stopped and looked at his alpha.
Alpha Mason closed his eyes and opened them back, his jaw was clenched and it looked like he was fighting with himself.
"Let the girl go," he muttered really low. The guard looked shocked but obeyed and took the rope off of my neck and released me.
My wolf was barking in happiness, she kept telling me that he cared deep down inside but I wasn't in the mood of hearing her blab so I just shut her off.
Alpha Mason nodded his head again and the guards pulled Adam towards the rope. My heart stopped and my eyes widened.
"Wait! Please, don't kill him!" I yelled. The alpha looked at me and growled.
"It's not your choice," he growled out.
"If you're going to kill the rest then kill me with them, we came in here together so we should die or live together," I said. Alpha Mason growled again and closed his eyes. He shook his head and opened his eyes. He was angry, really angry.

He remained silent for a moment until he finally spoke.
"Let them go," he said in a hard voice. All the guards let Adam and Kayla go and I sighed in relief.
"Don't think since I let you go means you're off the hook, you all will be staying in this pack and will be working for us. My beta will choose what you'll do and no matter how much you dislike it you have no choice, it's either death or this."
We all nodded our heads in agreement.
"If I hear that one of you did something wrong then I won't hesitate to kill you," he said while looking at me. I looked away from him and sighed. Well, it's nice that we're not dying.
The guards started to pull Adam and Kayla out the door. The guard that was holding me stopped. Alpha Mason slowly walked up to me with an emotionless face.
When he was closer to me he looked at the guard that was holding me and nodded his head. The guard let go of me and walked away from us.
"Listen here, don't think that I let you go because of anything else," he said. I narrowed my eyes at him. I really wanted to say something back but I held myself because I really didn't want to anger him than he already was. "I didn't do it for you. If it wasn't for my wolf then you would have been dead by now." I growled lowly when he turned his back on me and walked away. Oh how much I just wanted to grab his neck and choke the living daylights out of him.
My wolf was happy even after what he said, all she got out from that was that his wolf cared. I mentally rolled my eyes at her and the guard from earlier pulled me and dragged me outside the door.
They pulled us until we were outside a room. We walked into a big room and the beta was sitting on a big chair staring at us.
He got up and walked towards us.
"Since you three are staying here then you're going to need to do something," he said.
"You both," he looked at Kayla and me, "you both will be helping around the packhouse, whether it's cleaning or cooking or taking care of the children."
We both nodded our heads in agreement, that isn't bad at all.
"And you," he said looking at Adam and walking towards him. "What shall you do?"
The beta smirked at Adam and nodded his head.
"Let's see if you can fight." With that the beta shifted into his wolf form, Adam stood there shocked until he also shifted. My eyes widened in worry. What are they doing? Is he trying to kill Adam?
They circled each other and growled, the beta attacked Adam but Adam was fast enough to move away. While this was happening at the moment, Kayla and I moved to the corner to not get hurt while they fought.
After jumping on each other, biting, scratching and all those violent moves, they finally shifted back. A guard came in and handed both of them shorts. They both wore it and the beta had a big smile on his face.
"And you," he said to Adam, "you will be a pack warrior, you will serve this pack and protect it. Is that understood?" He asked. Adam smiled at that, Adam always wanted to be a pack warrior but our pack didn't let him because they always thought he didn't fit to be one.
"Understood," he nodded his head. The beta looked at us and then at me.
"I don't know why the alpha agreed to let you guys stay in this pack but if you do something that we don't like, you'll regret it," he said. We all nodded our heads and he smiled a small smile. Well, at least someone in this pack smiles.
"In a couple of days we will hold a ceremony to officially make you guys a member of this pack but for now my men will lead you to your rooms."
We followed the guards and they dropped Kayla at a room, we walked further and up the stairs then stopped at another room. This one was for Adam, and mine was a couple of rooms next to him so that was the best thing. I went into the room and sighed. It was a nice room. Not too big nor small. It had a bathroom and a closet with clothes in it.
I can't believe just a moment ago we were in the cells and now we're in nice rooms. I was thankful that I didn't die nor did anybody else. It would have been horrible.
I sat down on the bed and closed my eyes for a moment, thinking about those cold eyes which made a shiver run down my spine.
I laid down and got comfortable in the warm bed and welcomed sleep with open arms.
I slowly opened my eyes and yawned. I stretched my arms and looked at the window. It was sunny outside. I got up and headed towards the closest and picked out normal jeans and a white shirt with a pair of underwear and a bra. I walked to the bathroom and locked it before stripping out of my clothes and hopping inside the shower. After cleaning myself I grabbed a towel that was near me and wrapped it around my body.
I wore the clothes and tied my hair into a ponytail. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled, now I feel clean.
I decided to see Adam so I got out of the bathroom and out of the room. I silently walked towards Adam's room, trying to not catch attention on myself.
While I was walking, a door next to me opened and a girl rushed out of the room in a hurry. She bumped into me which made me fall to the ground in shock.
I looked up at her and she was barely wearing any clothes. She had a tight short skirt on with a tight crop top. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about short skirts and freeing the knee but what made me frown was the way she was staring at me. Like I was a piece of trash that was in the middle of the road that needed to be thrown away.
She narrowed her eyes at me and placed her hands on her hips.
"Well, aren't you going to say sorry?" She asked.
I got up from the ground and raised a brow.
"Sorry? When you were the one to bumped into me?" I questioned.
She crossed her arms against her chest and her face didn't hide the anger she felt.
"Don't you know who I am? Well, let me tell you, you don't want to mess with me," She hissed. I just rolled my eyes at her. Does every pack have to have a show-off b*tch that only cares about herself? Well, it looks like this pack does.
"Oh really?" I asked sarcastically. "In case you couldn't tell, I don't care."
"You slut, you're lucky I'm busy or I would have done something you wouldn't like, I'll let you off this time but next time I won't hesitate to show you who you are dealing with." She hissed
"Watch where you're walking next time," with that, she walked away. I growled lowly at her. Ok, it's clear that I'm not going to like her.
I shook my head and continued to walk towards Adam's room. I knocked on his room and entered it. Adam was standing by his closest picking out clothes. When he saw me he smiled at me and hugged me.
"I'm so happy you're ok," he said. I hugged him back and smiled. "I'm happy you're ok too."
We pulled apart and he frowned. "I was so scared yesterday when they were about to..." He didn't continue what he was about to say but I just held his hand in mine.
"It's ok, Adam. I'm fine, we're fine." He nodded his head and his frown deepened.
"But I'm still confused," he muttered. I raised a brow and tilted my head.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "I mean, I'm confused as to why the alpha let us go, we all know he doesn't do that. Why didn't he kill us?"
I looked down and bit my lip. I guess it's time to tell him why. He deserves to know. Besides, he is my best friend but I am worried about what he will think of me after I tell him. Will he still want to remain friends with me or not?
I guess there is only one way to find out.
"Because I'm his mate."
