CHAPTER 54
LOUIS'S POV
I sat down in my seat on the plane next to Harry, and tried to put on a happy face. Harry, being the thoughtful and considerate lad he is, could see right through my smile.
"What's got ya down mate?" He whispered into my ear so only I could hear.
I wanted to tell him that I hadn't slept since Cindy got mad at me. I wanted to tell him that I hadn't been eating right. I wanted to tell him that I had been really upset. I wanted to tell him that I felt broken. I wanted to tell him how weak I was. But I couldn't. "Nothing." I said flatly.
"Just tell me later then." Harry said. It was like he could read my mind or something! I was really thankful that Harry and I had been really close lately because he is the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
I simply nodded my head, indicating that I would tell him later, and leaned my head against the window as the plane took off.
Cindy.
Cindy.
Cindy.
Cindy.
I couldn't stop thinking about that girl! It was like she had cast a spell on me which caused to me to, I don't know, fall in love? Was I in love with Cindy?
"Louis you okay?" Harry asked. I looked back up at him, and his green eyes looked tired, yet they were still sparkling. Is it weird for me to say that his eyes were sparkling? "Uh Louis? Why are you looking at me like that?" Harry looked confused.
"Oops, sorry lad." I said as I broke our eye contact. Even though I wasn't looking at Harry, I was almost positive that he was looking at me. I could feel his gaze on my back. I turned to look at him slowly, and sure enough, he was staring at me.
"Listen Lou, you may have the other boys tricked, but I know that something's wrong with you. And I'm about 100% sure that it's Cindy. Am I right?" He asked.
I looked up out of my seat, and thank god, all of the other boys were asleep. I peered back over to Harry and let out a loud sigh. "I can't get her out of my mind Harry." I finally revealed. He stared at me like I had grown a second head, which honestly just confused me. "What, do I have something on my face?" I asked.

"Call her." He said flatly.
"I've tried Harry. Listen it's fine, I'll get over it. It's to late now anyways." As the words came out of my mouth, I instantly remembered how I had said this about Angie. I thought that if I kept saying I would get over her, that I would. I'm over Angie now, but I don't think it had anything to do with me repeatedly saying something that wasn't true.
"Louis, it's never to late for love." Harry smirked. I thought back to the night that I had once said that to Harry and realized that saying that to him was probably the worst advice ever. Think about it, if I had never told him that, then he wouldn't have gotten back together with Angie. Therefore, he wouldn't have had his heart ripped out when she cheated on him.
"Harry I know that you think it's clever to say that, but think about what happened to you when I said that. You got your heart broken for trying to hold onto something that wasn't yours. I'm not taking that advice." I muttered.
"Right, then I never would've met Jessica. Sometimes Lou, you have to be broken to be picked back up." He said smiling. I guess he was right, because if he hadn't gotten back together with Angie, then we wouldn't have gone to the water park that day she left. Then I never would've met Cindy, and Harry never would've met Jessica.
"And Harry, I never would've met Cindy." I said softly. I wasn't quite sure if I meant that in a good or a bad way, and I didn't think Harry understood either.
"Finally, land!" I heard Niall shout.
I looked out the window, and sure enough we had landed. I grabbed my stuff and began to exit the plane with the rest of the boys right behind me. Our manager had a black van waiting for us right off the plane which was very thoughtful. I got into the van and settled into my seat next to Zayn and Liam.
The ride to the hotel was very quick which I was thankful for. Not that I was going to be able to take a nap and relax like the rest of the boys, but I was glad to not be moving.
The management had gotten us all our own room, so I was able to be messy without getting yelled as which I was glad about. I decided to have an all night movie marathon with myself because we didn't have to start working until tomorrow at noon. And I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep anyways.

*THE NEXT MORNING*
HARRY'S POV
I really did feel bad for Louis about the whole Cindy thing. There wasn't much I could do, but I knew that I needed to do something. I looked down at my phone and stared at the date. December 16, 9:56 am. I then looked all around my empty room looking for some sort of idea. Then it hit me. I picked up my phone and called Jessica.
"Hey Harry, I just got home from school!" She chirped. Which instantly reminded me of the time difference. 5 hrs, I can remember that. Probably.
"Oh cool, how was your day?" I asked, even though I really didn't care. Don't me wrong, on most days I really did like hearing Jessica ramble on, but on this phone call, I was on a mission.
"Well, it being my first day at school as Harry Styles girlfriend, I thought it went pretty well. Sure some girls who I had never even talked to, now hate me, but I don't care as long as I have you." She gushed.
"That's great babe, so I was thinki-" She cut me off.
"And oh my god, this one girl at lunch..." Jessica continued to tell me some boring story about something that happened at lunch. To be honest, I didn't listen to a single word of it. But then she said, "Don't you agree with me? Wasn't that totally rude of her?"
"Yeah, she is so in the wrong. Your right love." I said even though I had no idea what I was agreeing with.
"Finally someone that sees it my way! Oh and then, on the bus I was sitting with this girl named Nicole and she...." Yet again, Jessica continued to tell me another boring story about her bus ride home. I occasionally said "Yeah." and "Totally." But other than that, I wasn't listening or responding. I had something really important on my mind, and I couldn't get a word in.
"So then I was like-" This time, I cut her off.
"Listen Jessica, as much as I would love to hear the end of this story, I only have a few minutes." I lied.
"Oh, okay. So why did you call?" She asked.
"I was just wondering if by any chance Cindy has said anything about Louis?" I questioned hopefully.
"Oh my god, she won't stop talking about him. Her parents took away her phone and laptop so she couldn't contact him. She feels really bad about everything, and wants to date him." Jessica answered. I could feel a smile come on my face.
"That's great, Louis feels the same way!" I shouted.
"Perfect, so what do we do?" She laughed.
"I'll buy Cindy a ticket, and she can come with you here for Christmas and Louis's birthday!" I nearly screamed.
"Don't forget my birthday!" She whined jokingly.
"I could never." I laughed. "Oh, but don't tell Louis, it can be a birthday/Christmas surprise." I suggested.
"Sounds perfect! She'll be so excited. So just mail me the ticket and we should be all set. When do we come again? I have it written down somewhere, but I don't feel like finding it." She giggled.
"December 24." I answered.
"Alright, so what are you going to tell Louis?" She asked.
"Nothing I guess." I responded.
"But on the plane you texted me that he was all upset. You're just going to let him be like that for 8 days?" She asked like she was shocked.
"Yeah, he'll be fine. It's only 8 days." I laughed.
"Alright, but don't let him get to upset." She warned.
"Okay, okay. So tell me more about Nicole and your bus ride home." I prompted her.
Jessica then picked up her story right where she left off. I sat back on the couch and smiled to myself as she told her story with such animation in her voice. Now that we had settled the whole Cindy problem, I was able to listen to Jessica intently without another thought in my mind. Even though her bus ride turned out to be nothing out of the ordinary, I had a great time listening to the stroy, because it was told in her voice.

Once a prosperous and well-to-do city, Oar's Crest has fallen into depression and disrepair. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements

Thank you for reading my first story, hopefully, the first of many to come. This will be my main story and is meant to help me practice and hone my skills as I slowly produce more complex ideas. It's a litrpg in which I want to only lightly focus on the mechanics as I don’t want to pad out the word count with math and number tables and while I want to add a few of my own twists here and there, overall I’m going to keep this story close to generic as possible so that I don't let my inexperience lead me into a corner. Thanks again to all willing to leave a review or some constructive criticism, without you I'd never improve. Unfortunately, Cover art is by me.
