《Kink // Luke Hemmings [COMPLETED]》-Chapter 36-

"Amy, just pick the damn flowers," I complained, holding out two bouquets of flowers for her to pick. Ever since we had gotten home she had been forcing me to do all these wedding activities. She had suddenly decided to deem me the maid of honour which I was very confused about until I found out her close friend couldn't make it (aka the girl who was going to be maid of honour before me).
Me and Luke's parting at the airport was too emotional for everyone to handle so we decided to pretend like it didn't happen. To sum it up: Luke gave me a little speech about how soon we'd see each other and how much he loved me, I cried, the boys pitied us. The end.
"I can't! I don't know if I like the white roses or the yellow daffodils..." She trailed off her sentence, staring at the bouquets with her full attention. I quietly prayed she would pick the daffodils because I accidentally told her about the white roses I liked for my own wedding eventually and she stole my idea. I groaned. "Fine! The daffodils!" I cheered and waved them around like a fool. She laughed at my reaction but took the flowers from my hand and placed them in a vase on my table. Oh, yeah, and she was using my apartment for everything.
She had told mum and dad about the engagement, to which they were very shocked and sceptical but they eventually understood and supported her. Mum even helped with our planning.
"So, I presume you're bringing Luke to the wedding," she said while shuffling around a few invitations we had written up earlier that day. I hummed in response. "That's not awkward at all for me."
"Well, what do you want me to do? Not show up with my boyfriend?" I laughed, making her shrug as if it would actually happen. "Amy!" I scolded, lightly whacking her arm. She yelped like a diva and jumped away from me.
"Luke told me something the other week..." she started with a smirk on her face, knowing I would get agitated.
"What? Wait, Amy, what did he tell you?" I ran up to my annoying sister and stared her in the eye.
"I can't tell you, it's a surprise." That stupid smirk stayed on her face the whole time she spoke. The last time I heard about any surprise it was Luke talking about his proposal. The proposal I was shitting myself for.

"Was it about him proposing?" I asked excitedly but Amy's smirk dropped into an 'O' shape. "You didn't...know, did you?" I mentally smacked myself.
"He's going to propose? Oh my god- Gabbie!" She squealed and jumped around my living room like a monkey. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"So, I'm guessing it wasn't about that then," I didn't want her to know about it- not until he did it. It felt as though if she knew, I was pressuring Luke to do it and I didn't want that. I rolled my eyes at her over-the-top reaction and took out my phone, sending Becky an emergency text to call me so I could get out of the conversation.
Like a God himself, Luke's name flashed up on my phone screen and I almost burst into joyful tears. I held up my index finger towards Amy as I put the phone up to my ear. A smile spread across my face like butter as soon as his husky voice seeped through the phone.
"Hello, beautiful!" He greeted me excitedly.
"You're happy today," I smiled down the phone even though he couldn't see me.
"Because I'm calling you."
"Wow, and you're extra cheesy today!" I laughed while ignoring Amy. She knew who was on phone because the grin on her face had grown even bigger. My eyes avoided hers.
"Okay, I'll just never call you, shall I?" He joked in a whiny voice. I laughed because I knew he wasn't serious. "How was your day, angel-face?" It was like the laughs wouldn't stop coming out of me. I'm pretty sure it was because I was missing him.
"It was fine until Amy forced me to help her do bride things," I huffed, even though, deep down, I know I loved it really. Amy stuck her tongue out at me, making me roll my eyes.
"It's just preparation for our wedding." He said casually, making my heart explode into a million pieces. I was really looking forward to him proposing, a lot more than i thought I would be. He's been building it up for weeks over the phone, on social media (through subtle tweets that the fans don't get), etc. "Hello?" He cooed.
"Bonjour," I said, remembering the only bit of French I knew. "Anyway, how was your day?"

"Uh, it was the usual: writing, performing- we got to record a song today. That was fun..." He didn't sound too enthused about it.
"What song was it?" I asked, trying to excite him like he usually was about music.
"You haven't heard it yet." He said in a quiet voice.
"Sing it for me then." All I wanted was for Luke to feel happy about everything in his life, not just me. His music was so important to him, I couldn't let it be the thing he ended up hating.
"Babe, I shouldn't..." he trailed off, but I knew he wanted to. I stayed silent for a second, before he spoke up again. "Oh, fine!"
I cheered and clapped my hands, putting him on speaker phone so Amy could listen as well. Ever since the concert, she had been listening to their music a lot more. To be fair, they did make incredible songs.
"I chase it down, with the shot of truth," he sang with passion and feeling, without any instrumental to back him up. It was all him. "Dancing through our house, with the ghost of you. Ah, ah, ah." He hummed to himself. The words cut like a knife as soon as they fell out of his mouth. He really meant what he was singing.
"Was that about me?" I asked, taking him off speaker phone and ignoring the look of awe on Amy's face.
"I wrote it when we broke up..." he sounded quiet and sad, breaking my heart again.
"Don't be sad, baby. Please, don't be sad." I sang through the phone, getting up and walking to a different room. I ended up going into Amy and Robert's bedroom and I noticed the minimalistic decor. Amy had always been like that; she was always that annoying girl in your class who thought she was so cool with her "aesthetic" second hand clothes and perfect bedroom.
"I'm not sad!" He lied.
"Luke," I dragged out the 'e' in his name. "Don't lie to me! Look, it's okay. It's not long till I see you again." I said with a smile. I heard nothing on the other end for a few seconds.
"It's getting hard," he started with a tense voice. "It's a lot of travelling and doing the same things again and again. People always force me to go out and party and I just don't want to unless you're with me."
"I trust you,"
"I know, but...I want you with me right now. I want to be able to hold your hand whenever I'm walking around these foreign places. I want to sleep in the same bed as you and not wonder how lonely you feel every night."
"Luke, I promise to you, I will see you as soon as possible. You'll be okay, you always are." I said sincerely. Luke wasn't usually like this and I didn't really understand why he suddenly needed me so badly. "What really happened?"
"I just miss you."
"No, seriously. What happened?" I asked softly. He sighed, I knew it.
"Gabs, I promise." Maybe I was wrong... "I love you and I miss you. I have to go, but I'll text you, okay?"
"Yeah, I love you too."
I ended the phone call and looked at my home screen for a while. It was a picture of me and Luke in L.A. How is it even possible to love someone so much? A knock on the bedroom door gave me a small fright but I called out to let them in. Amy walked in with a sheepish smile. Once she had seen I wasn't crying, she relaxed a bit.
"What happened?"
"He's just missing me a lot." I shrugged, she wouldn't get it. Robert was always here and when she dated Luke it was while he was still here.
"Aren't you seeing him next month?"
"Yeah-wait, when did I tell you that?" She stopped like a deer in headlights. "Amy?"
"Uh, I don't know. You must have told me it when you were talking about Luke?" She said almost as a question. I narrowed my eyes at her but believed her. I probably did. "Anyway, time to help me pick which name cards I want on the tables!" She cheered while I let out a groan.
