《Kink // Luke Hemmings [COMPLETED]》- Chapter 25 -

My mouth parted in shock at what I was looking at on screen.

About a week prior I was in a singing mood so I set up my phone so the lens was facing me and I was in focus. It was slumped on a candle I had laying on my desk. I had played a few simple chords on my keyboard while singing Titanium by David Guetta. Somehow I managed to just about hit the notes while I sang, most likely annoying my neighbours.

The video had gained 200, 000 over the short space of time it had been uploaded. A lot of the people who watched it was new 5sos fans who knew who I was from old social media posts. I had negative comments but the majority were positive. For the first time in weeks, I felt happy and excited.

I logged onto twitter on my laptop, quickly slamming the letters on my keyboard. Just as I had suspected I had hundreds of notifications, making my heart skip a beat. I unlocked my phone to find the contact I was looking for, putting it to my ear while listening to the awkward beeps. They suddenly stopped and a familiar voice welcomed me on the other end.

"Hey!" Luke exclaimed, overly excited to be getting a call from me.

I know what you're thinking- since when were you two so chummy? Luke and I were talking every night, not like we used to though. Things were still awkward but not so much that we couldn't keep a conversation.

"Have you seen my twitter?" I asked with a shaky voice, caused by the pure adrenaline rushing through my body.

"Of course I have, everyone's tweeting me."

"Have you seen my singing video?" I asked, getting nervous and shy like always.

"Yeah, it was beautiful." He complimented me. I blushed and hid my face, out of habit.

"Thank you..."

"Where are you right now?" I asked.

"Italy, it's really hot."

"I've always wanted to visit Italy. It looks so picturesque." I gushed over the phone.

"Maybe one day I'll take you." I could hear the smile in Luke's voice which caused my small smile to grow wider.

"I would love that."

After talking for an hour Luke was forced out of his hotel room to practise for his show that night. I didn't realise how long I had spent talking to him until I checked the time. It was only midday but I had planned to go shopping since I hadn't been out of the house much since the boys left. I didn't really have any reason to go outside. Luke was usually the one dragging me to get coffee or a silly concert at the small arena near us.

I raised my arms up, stretching out before standing up. Wobbling slightly, I shoved my worn down boots on my feet and shrugged into my warm coat. I made sure I had my house keys, phone and purse before rushing out the door.

I walked to the shopping centre, just to get more fresh air into my lungs before I went back inside forever. I had almost forgotten what it was like to feel the icy wind slash your face as you battled against it to stand up straight. In a weird way, it was nice, refreshing almost. It brought me back to the time Luke and I had battled through a storm just because I desperately wanted photos of the sunset. The clouds were murky and mysterious but on the horizon, a swirl of blues and pinks made the sky into a work of art. He had held my waist as I trembled to take the photo on my canon camera that ended up breaking a month later.

I shook my head at the memory, trying to block any thought of him from appearing in my head. I was coping better than my parents thought I would, which gave me hope. My mum told me about when her and my dad had split up back in high school in their last year. She thought she would never see him again but, sure enough, he came back for her two years later. They got married a few months after their reunion. They were so in love, they still are.

I paused outside of an empty building that was ' to let '. It had a small brick wall on one side of it where I decided to sit on to watch the sky for a few minutes. I was always so fascinated with the sky. He used to take photos of clouds and send them to me whenever I wasn't with him, just because he knew how much I loved them. Clouds are so light and fluffy, they just remind me of home. It's like, no matter how far away I am from the people I love, the sky is still there. It's still watching over me.

I couldn't tell whether my face was red because of the harsh wind or the fact I had just compared the sky to my family. Either way, a smile crept up on my lips and for the first time in a long time, it wasn't because of something Luke said or did.

It was like I was always so close to getting him out of my system and then he would just find a way of squeezing back in. His eyes would flashback in my memory and draw me back in.

I took my phone out of my jean pocket and scrolled to Luke's contact for the second time that day. I quickly pressed the call button, putting the device to my ear. The first time I called, it continued to ring until eventually going to voicemail but I was persistent. If I didn't do it then, I knew I would never do it. I called again, this time only a couple of beeps before he picked up.

"What's wrong?" Luke asked, slightly out of breath.

"I miss you," I said bluntly. "I still love you and I need you."

"Uh-can we talk about this later?" Luke said, still breathing heavily.

"Luke, I don't even know If I'm even gonna have the confidence to text you later." I laughed down the line but Luke made no noise.

"Please. I'm just in the middle of something." As he said that I heard someone say his name. "Shit. I'm sorry, I just- I've moved on."

As soon as my brain processed those words I felt the confidence wall inside me crumble down. I squeezed my eyes shut and forced my empty hand into a fist.

"Okay. I get it."

"Look, I'll talk to you later. Okay?"

"I just remembered, I'm visiting my parents tonight. So I can't take your call." I lied, feeling guilt race through my blood.

"Oh, okay. Well just text me then."

"Sure. Bye." I said through gritted teeth.

"Bye." He said, finally catching his breath.

As time passed, the sky grew darker and the wind grew icier. I walked home as quickly as my legs would go until I was greeted with the warmth of my apartment.

"Where have you been?" Becky asked me as I walked through the door. She had her laptop open on the coffee table with Ashton's blurry face bouncing around on it.

"Walking." I shrugged, grabbing a handful of the sweets we had left from Halloween and crashing onto the sofa next to Beck.

"You were out for hours."

"I talked to Luke for a bit," I said like it was no big deal. Becky's eyes grew big and she began to slap my arm.

"Like a call?" I nodded my head at her, waving at Ash to acknowledge his presence.

"Oh shit." He mumbled.

"What?" Becky asked, turning her head to him.

"Luke was with someone, all day. Did you know about that?" Ashton spoke cautiously like he was avoiding telling me important information.

"I heard another voice but I just thought it was one of you guys. Who was it?" I asked intrigued by his statement.

"It was...his girlfriend." He awkwardly told me. I just bit down on my bottom lip, scraping the already flakey skin.

"That's why he was out of breath, yeah, that makes sense now." I joked. I could see in Ashton's pixelated eyes that he genuinely cared. "I don't know what to do anymore." I groaned, finally sick of the act I was putting on.

"I can set you up with some of my guy friends." Becky looked at me with a warm smile.

"I don't want to see anyone else." I grabbed the pillow to my left and pressed it into my chest for some kind of comfort.

"He's moved on, Gab. So should you."

"I know but he was just so...amazing."

"Maybe you should talk to Amy."

"No, that is not happening, Becky. Are you crazy?" I jumped up from the couch.

"Come on, she knows what you're going through."

"She hates me." My vision began to blur as I spoke. "But I miss her." I sighed, picking up my phone.

"Text her, do it."

I nodded and send Amy a new message.

After sending her the message I opened Twitter and without thinking posted a series impulse tweets.

Dear Luke Hemmings, you have officially fucked up my life.
