《Breathing ∞ Kol Mikaelson [1]》[12]

Emma walked through the halls of the Lockwood home, backtracking down the same path which Tony had led her though only moments before. She tried to be as quiet as possible. Although, knowing about the heightened senses of vampires, she doubted Klaus wouldn't be able to hear her if he were listening. She could only hope that he was too focused on his guest to realize.
It was when she came upon a corner which would lead her out into the foyer that she heard voices. The sound of an ongoing conversation letting her know that she hadn't been caught yet. "Or I could watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb." She could hear Klaus making his threats and as she peaked from beyond the corner, she could see his back turned to her while the other man stood just beyond the entrance, unable to get inside.
"They can't kill me." He spoke with confidence, his tone almost mocking as he stared down Klaus. He seemed so sure he had the upper hand, so sure that everything was going according to plan. Emma, of course, had no idea what his plan was. Or Klaus' for that matter. And she was starting to suspect that perhaps she really should have just gone to the backyard and waited it out. But call it curiosity, or call it stupid suicidal bravery, she was here now.
"True. But it'll make a hell of a party game. All I have to do is rub these two fingers together and they'll pounce." Klaus spoke, and even though she was unable to see his face, Emma could only imagine the smirk adorning his lips. But looking beyond the porch of the house, her eyes catching sight of Tony standing among a group of Hybrids, Emma remembered the information Rebekah shared with her. And she remembered one thing Klaus seemed to forget.
"The big bad wolf. You haven't changed. Still hiding behind your playthings like a coward." Mikael continued to taunt, obviously hoping to get a rise out of Klaus. Hoping to lure him out of the house which he could not enter to get to him. "You only forget. They may be sired by you, but they're still part vampire. And they can be compelled by me."
Whether Klaus was surprised or thrown by the reminder, Emma couldn't see. His body language gave nothing away, and without seeing his face she couldn't be sure of what he might be thinking in the moment as he watched Mindy drag a stumbling Elena and push her towards Mikael.
"Come out and face me, Niklaus. Or she dies." Mikael threatened.
Emma knew Rebekah hadn't shared all the information about her family during their night of bonding. She didn't expect her to either. After a thousand years, it isn't too hard to imagine there might be a story or two one isn't too willing to divulge. And watching as Mikael, so hell-bent on destroying Klaus, now stood there, Emma could understand why he'd be something you wish to skip over.

"Go ahead. Kill her." Klaus continued to remain calm, acting as if he couldn't care less. His words made Elena begin to plead, believing Mikael intended to do as he said. Emma wasn't sure whether Klaus thought Mikael was lying or whether he was playing a game of his own.
"If she dies, this lot will be last of your abominations." Mikael reminded simply, his choice of words making a frown come over Emma's face as she could see the underlying insult within them. The hybrids were the same as Klaus. Calling them abominations was calling him one too. And while Emma was sure there were a couple of bad things about Klaus that could be listed off by those who knew him, what he was wasn't one of them certainly.
"I don't need them. I just need to be rid of you." Klaus spat at his father defiantly. Emma couldn't see his face, but as she listened to his words it wasn't hard to catch on to the resentment hidden beneath them. It made her believe that he was completely convinced in what he'd said.
"To what end, Niklaus? So you can live forever, with no one at your side? Nobody cares about you anymore, boy! What do you have other than those whose loyalty you forced? No one. No one." Emma could definitely see why Klaus wanted to be rid of Mikael.
She could see Klaus' shoulder begin to shake slightly, either with anger or hurt. Either way, his patience was thinning, and Emma wasn't sure what would happen next. "I'm calling your bluff, father. Kill her."
"Come outside and face me, you little coward. And I won't have to." The more Mikael spoke rather than did what he was threatening to do, the more Emma started to think Klaus was right and that he was bluffing. Elena was the only real advantage Mikael had, and everyone knew it.
"My whole life you've underestimated me." Emma could hear the emotion in Klaus' voice by now, the façade of being unaffected by the events of the night no longer holding up as he spoke. "If you kill her you lose your leverage. So go ahead. Go on. Kill her. Come on, old man. Kill her. Kill her!!!"
Klaus' yelling only seemed to amuse his father, who let out a small chuckle. Emma looked at his face which seemed completely unbothered by the idea of killing Elena, someone he'd aligned with to kill Klaus. "Your impulse, Niklaus. It has and will forever be the one thing that keeps you from truly being great." And as he spoke his words, not even a second passed after before Mikael plunged a dagger into Elena's back.
Emma covered her mouth to keep the gasp from escaping her lips as she swung back around, hiding behind the wall before anyone had a chance to spot her. She hadn't been discovered yet, and right now it was starting to seem like she definitely shouldn't be. She was out of her depth. And while she doubted she could be used as any kind of leverage against anyone, it was obvious that neither Mikael nor Klaus cared about who died in the middle of their little standoff.

However, Emma could hear Klaus' own shocked gasps. He wasn't expecting it either. And he was the one who actually knew Mikael. If his father's actions came as a shock to Klaus, then Emma suspected she couldn't even imagine how determined Mikael was to kill the Original. She found it absolutely abhorring.
Her mind ran a mile a minute, debating whether to move and try and get out of there while she still had a chance. Her eyes looked around, searching for either an escape route or some way in which she could help. And were her eyes not completely focused, Emma suspected she might've missed the sudden blur which ran past her.
She spun around, completely forgetting her hiding place as she watched Damon run up to Klaus, catching the hybrid off guard. Klaus' shock over Elena's death gave Damon just the right amount of time to sneak up and stab the vampire with a wooden steak. Klaus let out a pained scream as he felt the steak embed itself in his chest, but luckily Damon missed the heart.
In an attempt to rectify the failure, Damon threw Klaus to the ground while the latter continued to struggle in an attempt to free himself and get the stake out. Emma's eyes jumped to Mikael as she thought through things quickly. He'd caught sight of her by now, but she knew he couldn't get in. The only threat was Damon. And so Emma ran over, her hand digging through the small bag she had with her in search of something specific.
When she learned all about vervain from Rebekah, Emma had joked about mixing the herb into her pepper spray bottle. But the more they thought it over, the more the idea seemed like a good one. Damon saw her coming, of course, and while he perhaps could have been fast enough to stop her from intervening, he wasn't fast enough to both stop her and maintain his control on Klaus. And so while he tried to come up with a solution, Emma took her chance.
Such a simple little thing proved to be enough for the moment. Right in the moment he pulled out the stake, Damon groaned in pain, one of his hands reaching for his eyes as the skin around them charred as soon as it was hit by the spray. And in that moment, Klaus' moved quickly, ready to get the vampire off him. But before he could do so himself, Emma once again felt someone rush past her, almost hitting her in the process. She barely moved before feeling as the vampire push her aside without much care as she fell to the ground.
Stefan tackled his brother away from Klaus. An action which, by the looks on their faces, managed to come as a surprise to everyone. It quickly became clear that whatever the plan Damon, Elena, Stefan and Mikael had come up with; this wasn't part of it. The plan was to kill Klaus with the stake, not to drop it. But they did. And so before she'd even thought it through properly, Emma's hands reached for the stake which fell at her feet when Damon dropped it.
"Klaus!" She called out to him, catching his attention while he himself had been scanning the ground in search of it. Once his eyes fell on her, she threw it to him, her aim perfect as he speedily caught it in his hand and for the first time since Mikael's arrival rushed out of the house. It all happened within a spilt second and Emma watched from the ground as Klaus jumped at his father, the stake piercing Mikael's chest before he could even properly react.
She could see Elena's... not Elena's?... surprised face as she took in the scene from the porch, perfectly alive and alright. For a moment, she spared a glance back into the house, her eyes falling on Emma as if analysing an anomaly. But instead of sticking around, the brunette disappeared within the blink of an eye. Their plan had failed, and she wasn't sticking around to face the consequences of it.
"What the hell did you do?" Damon questioned his brother in shock as Mikael's screams ceased outside, the orange glow of the fire which consumed his body starting to disappear. Emma used the wall beside her to rise to her feet, doing her best to catch her breath and get it under control as well as her racing heart.
"He's earned his freedom." Klaus announced as he stepped back into the house. For a moment, he looked to Emma who couldn't read whatever emotion was in his eyes as he looked her over. A split second later it was gone as he turned back to the Salvatore brothers, Stefan releasing Damon as he turned to Klaus and rose to his feet.
"Thank you, my friend. You no longer have to do as I say. You're free." Klaus said calmly, and once the words were spoken, a look of complete and utter relief crossed over Stefan's face. Damon used the moment of distraction to rush off, knowing he cannot stay if he didn't want Klaus to kill him too for what they'd done. Or better said, failed to do.
And while there was no threat to Stefan, he chose to do the same. With the second Salvatore gone, only Klaus and Emma were left inside of the house. The hybrid turned to the human, his curious eyes watching her as he spoke. "Now, what should we do with you?"

Exponential Mana Regeneration
When the Change occurred, humanity suddenly found itself with superhuman constitutions and the ability to use mana. All the government leaders had known about it beforehand and had made an announcement, so there was little strife and instead excitement to loot the dungeons that the Change had created. Kyle Anders was incredibly excited when he saw his starting skill, called Exponential Mana Regeneration, but his excitement quickly waned when he realized it was almost useless with his starting mana pool of twenty. He had nearly given up hope on being a mage when his family got him a new skill for his 18th birthday. Suddenly, with his mana pool expanded because of the skill, Kyle’s mana regeneration shot through the roof. But while humanity worked hard to loot dungeons and increase their skills and stats, Change was coming, and peace cannot last forever. The story is currently on haitus. (This story is a work in progress. As the first story that I have ever written, the beginning, especially the first ten chapters or so, needs heavy editing. I have decided to continue writing the story instead of going back and editing the beginning. I hope that despite all its flaws you will still find my story enjoyable.)

Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!

8 160The Cullens Shared Mate
THIS IS A COMPLETED STORY AND THERE WILL BE NO SEQUEL ANY TIME SOON.In this story Elizabeth Swan is the older sister of Bella Swan. Bella hates Beth for being older than her and her not being the only child. She especially hates her when she grows close with the Cullen family. You should also now that I made this cringy and like other stories because that seems to be what everyone likes. Some of it will be cheesy and other parts will be extra dramatic but its intentional. Bella is not with Edward in this story. None of the Cullens are together they only consider eachother siblings. Esme is not in this story and I am so sorry, I love her but with how im doing it I don't know if I could fit her in correctly. In this story the Cullens are a coven that was blessed with having only one mate that they must share with eachother. THIS IS A BELLA BASHING STORY. It is based in 2020 and ALL the Cullens are seniors. Well except Carlisle. The coronavirus is not a thing. Bella will be VERY out of character, go with it.There will be some cursing and smut with warnings when it will happenI do not own twilight or its plot I only own Elizabeth Jo Swan and the plot I created. This will not follow the timeline or the plot completely so bare with me.
