The mask is made

of a paper-like material

perhaps

it is not paper at all

but made from the essence

of spirit

Whispering white thoughts

out loud

to an empty mind

creates a mask

as white as if it were pure

But, is it pure?

The mask wavers before me

as the small figure rises

to its feet

and bows

excusing itself

from my presence

The door closes

with a soft tap
