《The Girl With The Cellphone》Chapter 21

"Amy!" my brother yelled my name which wake me up. When I open my eyes, the first thing I see is his face really close. I narrow my eyes, groaning by the sudden waking of my brother's loud voice. I realize he has a frown on his face as he doesn't look happy at all.

"What?" I ask, my voice still hoarse.

"Why are you here? With ? In the bed," Him? I think for a moment then, I feel something moving behind my back. I turn around to see Kenshi's face on my shoulder. His arms are around me as he holds me tight against his chest. He's sleeping so peacefully so he doesn't hear us talking even though my brother's being really noisy.

"Things happened," I only say, blushing slightly. I feel Kenni's gaze – had to call him that or it'll become confusing even for me – becoming more insistent. I clear my throat in hope it'll calm the situation. "Well, I'm going to wake him up we have the sports festival today."

"Oh, you still have sports festival?" he asked, his voice way softer than before.

I nod to answer him. "We have many sportspeople in our school so they held it on two days, each grades having it on different days. Second years are the first to go one this year."

"That's cool. I liked it back when we were younger. Want me to come see you once I'm finished with school?"

I shrug my shoulders. "Dunno but you can come if you want. This year I'm doing it so."

"I thought you were good. Why didn't you do it before?"

"It's... complicate."

He sighs and leaves the room not pushing the conversation further. "Breakfast is ready."

I nod and wait until he closes the door before taking care of the boy lying next to me. I turn then stare at him and look at his sleeping face. I smile at how peaceful he seems to be even though he just heard the news about his dead family. His hair is so messy, it's kind of cute. I shake him gently but he just groans but doesn't open his eyes. I try again while calling his name for a while. After a moment, he finally opens his eyes lazily but once he sees my face, he smiles gently and strokes my cheek.

"Hello there," I blush a little at the adorable face he's making. His voice is so low and calm in the mornings.

"Hi," I greet back shyly. We stare into each others' eyes for quite a long time. "We should wake up, school start soon."

He whines, closing his eyes again and hugs me tight in his arms. "Don't wanna. I hate sports," I don't know if I should feel embarrassed or laugh. He opens his eyes once again and stares into mine. "Can't I have a good morning kiss?"

I blush at the sudden question. I ready myself to answer but another voice speaks behind me again. "," I turn to see my brother again. The tone of his voice and his face are scary. I never see this before. Kenshi quickly gets away from me, a scared look showing now on his face. I sigh and stand up, leaving – more like avoiding – them. Sorry Kenshi, you'll have to deal with him.

I walk to my room and put my uniform on. Then, I walk downstairs to the kitchen to see breakfast on the table with my dad, brother and Kenshi. And how he looks so scared right now. I'm sure he wasn't ready to face my family just after we got together. I hold back my laugh as I sit down next to Kenshi. I look at him as I try to think of way to reassure him. What should people do in those situation? From under the table, I slide my hand on his and give it a squeeze. He tilts his head to my side with a surprised face. I give him a small smile, already feeling my cheeks burning a little. He smiles back with his eyes closed. I hear Kenni clears his throat as he glares at us like he is going to kill someone.

"" his voice is still menacing. Kenshi stiffens and feels nervous all over again as his eyes try to keep contact with my brother's dangerous glare. "I hope you're feeling well better now," he gives him a big smile – and not a kind one, believe me.

"Y-yeah! Thank you so much for letting me stay here!" he tries his best to not let his voice cracks. How my brother is way scarier than my dad? He doesn't even care about what's going on, he just drinks his coffee.

"That's good, that's good. So, today's the sports festival, huh? Are you good at sports?"

He shakes his head. "Actually, I'm pretty bad," he answers, ashamed of his poor abilities in sports.

"Oh, how inconvenient, Amy sports, you," he continues smiling which honestly creeps me out too.

Kenshi starts to sweat and he gulps. "Kenshi!" I yell at my brother but the two 'Kenshi' turn to look at me. "Ah, I mean Kenni! Stop scaring him, will you? We have a busy day today."

"Sports festival, huh? Brings back memories," my dad suddenly says, looking back and fourth between Kenni and me. Doesn't he get what's going on? What the hell, dad... "You were really amazing you two. Always first," he chuckles.

"Of course!" exclaims my brother with a proud expression. "I'm the best after all and, even better now!"

"Yeah, right. Still have this bed hair though," I retort back with a smirk. I know how much he hates his hair because it doesn't go the way he want. He pouts and looks away while both my father and I laugh at him.

Once we are ready, the three of us leave the house. My father said he is going to join by the end of the day once he has finished work. Kenni follows us for a while before taking another way. He doesn't forget to send a glare at the poor Kenshi next to me – whose shaking like a leaf. We continue walking the two of us in a soothing silence. I look at the sky, a little anxious about today. "Ready?" asks Kenshi. My eyes turn to him without moving my head. I look back to the sky before humming. My phone rings just before we cross the school gate. I apologize before I take the call in hurry as we have to join the others soon.

"Ye-?"

"Amy-chaan~" I freeze at the sound of the voice. I know this voice too well to not recognize who it is. "You didn't forget about me I see," he chuckles which sends shiver down my spine. Kenshi, next to me, knits his brows at me looking worried. "Hope you didn't forget I'll come to see you tomorrow~"

"T-tomorrow?"

"Of course! I have to come and see how you're doing without me!" he pauses for a moment but soon continue. "I missed you, Amy-chan. It was so good to see you that past two weeks. You changed so much. You're way more pretty... I wish I could touch you right now," I could almost feel myself crying here in front of everyone. Was he watching me the whole time? "Oh and, congratulation~ You finally found a boyfriend. It'll be too bad if something happens to him..."

"Don't you dare touch him or anyone else!" I yell out of anger. I am still shivering, fearing what his next moves might be.

"Amy? What's wrong? Who's that?"

"But look at the time! You both should get going! After all, you're still at the front gate," he laughs with this creepy laugh of his. Before I can say anything back, he hangs up. I turn my head right to left, searching for him. Where is he? Where the hell is he?! I need to find him or else!

"Amy!" I hear Kenshi's voice calling me. I come back to my sense and turn to look at him. "What's going on? Why are like this?" he asks worryingly, holding my shoulders.

"Nothing," I lie, thinking it is the best choice.

"Don't lie to me!" he angrily barks as his grips become stronger. "I know something is not right! What is it?"

I bite my lips and try to come up with something else: the truth or not? "I can't tell you right now. I promise I will after the festival."

He hesitates for a second before releasing me. I turn my heels and walk into the school, followed by him. I shouldn't tell anyone at the moment knowing he's already there. I know what he does to the people who learns his true identity: he kills them. He did that to the one who I told his secret. I don't want to experience that again. He's a true monster. He just wants to play with me. I'm his favorite target.

"There you are!" Tomoe puffs her cheeks, annoyed because we are late. "I thought you'd never come!"

"Too comfy sleeping in the same bed~" smirks Fujita which makes the two of us blush heavily.

"Shut up Taka! We didn't ask you anything!"

"Eeeeh. They already slept together? Saito, you're sooo dirty," said one of our classmates.

"We didn't! Don't get the wrong idea!" he tries to defend 'us' but little does he know, they just play around with him. He's still a child... How did that become my boyfriend?

"Alright kids! It's time to start! Go change!"

Everyone answers in unison and hurries to the changing rooms. We all take off our clothes and put on the sports outfit.

Some times later, we all join the court and wait for the teachers in charge to make his speech. Tomoe and I walk to our two friends and calmly wait for it and start. Kenshi won't stop complaining and it starts to piss me off. I turn to face him and glare fiercely. He jumps and gulps before apologize and shuts his mouth. The teacher finally arrives and starts to explain things. As we already know, we have to make group of two and both of the final score will be added to form the group score. The one with the highest rank will win. We can choose either a guy or a girl as my partner.

"Amyyy," I hear an annoying voice calling from me as I feel his arms surrounding me from behind around my waist. "You'll pair up with me, right?"

I raise a brow and look over my shoulder to him. "No way," before he can say anything, I slide off his arms and cross my arms. "If I want to win, I won't go with you."

I walk away to Fujita as we go to register our group. We already agreed on doing it together as a chance to win first place. "I can't believe it! Betrayed by own best friend!" I hear him scream from afar. All the students turn to look at him as I hide my face in embarrassment. Can't he stop screaming?

"So what do you want to do?" Fujita asks me as he holds the paper down for both of us to see.

I read all the different activities written and try to thing which one would be best for us. "I'm pretty good at running, jumping, climbing and that kind of stuff so," I look at the sports that have those abilities. "I think I can do rock climbing, the 400 meters running and pole vaulting? Is it OK with you?"

"Sure. I'm not that good with rock climbing so it's best you do that. I might do the baseball thing and archery one. And what else? Are you good at swimming? Heard we have to do that tomorrow."

I nod. "Yeah. It has been a long time but I'm okay."

"I made a good choice in teaming up with you," he smiles and pats the top of my head.

"Don't do that and hurry to choose so we can warm up."

"Yes Ma'am!"

When we all finish filling the paper and giving it to teachers, we warm up before preparing ourselves to start. I wave at Fujita before getting ready to run the 400 meters. In our school, they don't really put a difference between girls and boys as many girls are really good too, even better than some boys. I look around to see some really athletics people. I start to feel nervous even though I know I'm good. I take a deep breath and try to concentrate. It's my first time doing that, is it really okay?

"Go for it Amy!!" yells a voice I know very well. I turn my head and see my stupid boyfriend waving his arms in the air, yelling encouraging words to me as well as my partner and best friend. I smile and give them a nod before looking straight ahead.

"Readyyyy?!" shouts the teacher, his toy gun in hand. "Go!!" he shoots at the time, the loud bang telling us to start.

Everyone start running at their own pace, some faster than other. I start the run at the fifth place. I hear my friends yelling at me. Usually I'll be embarrassed but I better concentrate and leave it be. I've been training for a little while now, running every evening so I know when I should go faster and get for that first place. I breath in and out to the pace of my feet. As I see the final line rather close, I run faster and passing people who are ahead of me. Three left. I run at the fastest pace I could. Two left. One!

The whistle blows announcing the first one to reach the end. I fall on my knees trying to catch my breath. Suddenly I feel two pair of arms surrounding me which makes me fall on the ground. I see both Kenshi and Tomoe smiling at me with a proud face.

"You were amazing back there Amy!" shouts Tomoe while strangling me in a hug.

"Tomoe, get off me," I try to push her to breath but she won't let me.

"Yeah! I didn't know you were that good! I'm so proud of you!" Kenshi wears a proud smile while he ruffles my hair. I blush a little and look away.

"Nice one Suzu-chan. First place, uh? I didn't think you could have made it that far with those guys competing," he points at two guys who are drinking their water bottle. They are the one I passed just at the end.

Suddenly, they turn to look at me and walk to me. I gulp and push away Tomoe and Kenshi to stand up. We look into each others eyes for a while before one of them stretches his hand. I stare at it with round eyes and look up again. "You did very good out there. I was doubting you at first and judging you but you did way better than me. I want to congratulate you," he smiles and waits for me to take his hand. I stretch my hand before holding his and shake hands.

"You were amazing Suzuki-san! I didn't know you were good at sports as we never see you in classes!" The other one says before shaking my hand vigorously while smiling. That's when I realize, he's in my class.

"You're Sato-san, right? Thanks, that's really kind of you two. You did very good too," I bow lightly my head to thanks them and they return it before leaving.

"Wow," says a voice on top of me. I feel a weight on my head and glare at that tall cucumber, who just put his arm on my head, annoyed. "You actually talked to and touched two men? That's progress! Kenshi! You should be careful or your girlfriend's gonna be stolen from you," he smirks as he looks behind at his best friend.

I put my hands on my ears by anticipation of what may happen after. "What did you say?!!!" he yells back angrily. I stay there with a bored face while the two fight yet again. I try to ignore them but before I can walk away, the stupid shorty grabs my arm and brings me towards him. "You're not planing on leaving me, right Amy?!" he's so annoying. I stay silent and stare blankly to my side. "Amyyyy!" he whines again and again to make me crack but I try to stay compose. "Please say something!"

"For fuck's sake! Of course I won't leave you! I told you that already! Stop whining!"

"Then, say you love me! You didn't say it yet!"

I freeze at the thought of saying that. For some reason, I never thought about saying it, but I need to, right? Nervousness makes its way inside of me as I feel like butterflies in my stomach. When I look around, I see everyone's eyes on us. I take fright and run away with a blushing face. "Oh, she ran away."

"Aaamyyy!!"

The rest of the day went smoothly and eventually day one comes to an end. Both Fujita and I finish first place everywhere. As for Tomoe and Kenshi, they were almost last. Tomoe tries her best while Kenshi just does the less effort he can. He only ran because I would glare at him every time I saw him stop. But I wasn't there the other time so he took advantage of it. Little brat. Tomorrow is going to be judo, tennis and swimming. Will be doing it together this time so we have to go for it harder than before if we want to keep first place.

One day left.
