《Farmer's Pampered Wife: Farming Crops To Raise A Bun》Chapter 8: Do You Like Her?

After walking for who knows how long, she raised her head and suddenly saw a familiar face.
Is that Huo Li?
Eh? Who's that girl next to him?
"Brother Huo, this is the pouch that I personally sew the other day. You can keep it. It can be used as adornment or you can also put your silvers inside."
Ciu Er handed over her pouch and lowered her head in shame.
Huo Li glanced at it: "Thank you for your kindness, but I'm just a rough man and I'm not used to such delicate things."
With that, Huo Li picked up the two pheasants and packed them.
"The pheasants that you wanted."
Cui Er's face was filled with grievance as she took back her pouch. She clenched her hand tightly.
"Brother Huo, I know that you must still be angry at me in your heart. Back then, I really wanted to marry you, but my mother…"
"Miss Cui Er, I'm going to pack up my stall."
Without waiting for Cui Er to finish, Huo Li spoke.
Cui Er pursed her lips and a sense of loss suddenly appeared in her face.
"Then Brother Huo, I'll come back tomorrow to get some game."
With that, Cui Er and the two pheasants left dejectedly.
Lin Xiaoye watched as Cui Er walked past her. Lin Xiaoye's eyes were staring at the pouch in her hands. What a love-struck girl.
"Huo Li, do you like that girl?"
Lin Xiaoye went up and asked.
"I don't like her." Huo Li replied coldly without raising his head.
"But it seems that that girl really likes you." Lin Xiaoye smiled.
Huo Li immediately cast a cold glance at her, causing Lin Xiaoye to feel a chill run down her spine. She quickly shrank her neck back.
"What did you buy?" Huo Li noticed that her basket was almost full.
"There are a lot of them." Lin Xiaoye happily took off the basket.
"You see, there are the usual seasonings like pepper, vinegar, ginger and most importantly, the fatty meat. Look, I bought a lot of fatty meat."

Lin Xiaoye smiled as she held on to that large piece of fat.
Huo Li immediately frowned. "Where did this come from?"
Did she dare to steal these?
Huo Li quickly looked around, but didn't see anyone chasing after her.
Lin Xiaoye put the things back into the basket: "I bought it, can these fall from the sky?"
Huo Li's frown deepened. "Where did the money come from?"
This fatty meat was even more expensive than lean meat. Even if he sold pheasant meat every day, he would barely be able to buy one catty of lean meat.
Lin Xiaoye immediately smiled, "I sold the scorpion to earn money, so I can buy these things."
After saying that, Lin Xiaoye suddenly saw the torn part on his body.
"Oh right, I have some silver here. Come with me to pick a piece of cloth for you to make some clothes."
With that, Lin Xiaoye carried the basket on her back and turned to leave.
Huo Li was confused.
A scorpion could sell for that much money? How many taels of silver would that amount to?
He immediately went up and grabbed Lin Xiaoye's hand.
"Did the money really come from selling the scorpion?"
Lin Xiaoye was stunned for a moment, then blinked at him with her clear eyes.
"Yeah, is there a problem?"
Seeing her sincere eyes, Huo Li suddenly felt that Lin Xiaoye's eyes seemed to be pretty good. They were large and clear, and he couldn't help but want to take another look.
"No need, keep what you earn."
The provincial government would then have to take away the food in the house.
After that, Huo Li turned around, put his bag on his shoulder and walked towards the town entrance.
Lin Xiaoye was momentarily stunned.
What did he mean by keeping it for herself? Did he intend to drive her away?
With this idea in mind, Lin Xiaoye was immediately shocked.
Oh no, if Huo Li won't take her in, she wouldn't have anywhere to go. Even if he wanted to drive her away, he should at least let her stand on her feet first, right?

She quickly chased after Huo Li, "Hey, Huo Li, Brother Huo, would you like to think about it again?"
...
Then, when they walked past the bun shop, Lin Xiaoye was still unable to hold it in. She bought 20 steamed buns, some coarse grain flour and some corn flour before heading back.
When they arrived at the entrance of the town, Lin Xiaoye was the first to walk over to the coachman and put her basket in. Originally, Huo Li didn't plan to ride in the ox-cart, but seeing Lin Xiaoye get tired and had a lot of stuff, and had indeed earned some money today, he agreed.
Soon after, several aunties from the village came up one after another and started looking at Huo Li and Lin Xiaoye with weird gazes. Lin Xiaoye didn't intend to care about it at first, but when the ox-cart started, those people couldn't stop saying something.
"Old Huo, look at how close your relationship with your wife is. Even if you came to the town to sell some game, you still need to bring her along."
The one who spoke was Aunt Chen. She was holding a basket, which was covered with a cloth. It was hard to tell what was inside.
Huo Li only gave her a symbolic look to show that he had heard her, but didn't plan on saying anything.
The other aunt spoke again.
"Not only that. In our village, Old Huo has the best temper, he's also the strongest and he's also very good at hunting. Look, he can come to town every day to sell some game and even if he doesn't have a land, he can still pass his days, isn't that right?"
"That's right, that's right. Old Huo's wife. I really don't know what kind of virtues you have accumulated in your previous life. Look at you, you can even curry favor with such a good husband. That's incredible!"
With that, Aunt Chen looked at Lin Xiaoye with a mocking expression.
Lin Xiaoye was stunned.
What nonsense are they spouting? What do they mean by currying favor? Alright, based on the original owner's appearance, it sounds like Huo Li was a good cabbage that was eaten by a pig. And she was that pig!
Lin Xiaoye just smiled without saying anything.
Seeing that Lin Xiaoye actually hadn't gotten angry like before, the few aunties were momentarily taken aback, then they suddenly looked at each other.
Aunt Chen continued, "Old Huo's wife, why is your basket so full? What are you hiding? Don't tell me that you've done something so prodigal again and wanted to give those good things to your lover?"
"Hey, Aunt Chen, what are you saying? Old Huo is still here and you just have to say that. Where will Old Huo put his face later?"
Aunt Wu, who was next to her said.
Aunt Chen immediately slapped her thigh and smiled. "Yes, yes, yes. Look at my mouth. Old Huo, you'd better not be worried. You know I'm the one who likes to tell the truth."
Lin Xiaoye's palm immediately tightened.
The truth? Humph! It was more like having evil intentions.
You still want to sow discord? Then she will show them just how good her relationship with Huo Li was.
"Oh, I've really made you two aunties worry. My relationship with Old Huo is really good. Previously, wasn't my family used to be poor? I finally understand now. My Old Huo is the most handsome man in the village, his hunting skills are the best and his figure is also the best."
After she said that, Lin Xiaoye immediately put her hand on Huo Li's arm and stuck her body on his.
Huo Li immediately frowned.
Lin Xiaoye!
He immediately prepared to pull her hand out, but to his surprise, Lin Xiaoye immediately pinched the flesh on his arm and continued to strut around with a smile on her face.
"Everyone, look. My Old Huo is such a good person, but he's too honest and I'm embarrassed."

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
