3 weeks later...

"Bae." I sighed walking into the living room.

"Wassup." He replied watching the game.

"I really think we should take her to the hospital to see what's causing her to stare into space." I stated.

"She did it again?" He asked breaking eye contact from the TV to look at me.

I sat down next to him and nodded. "Yes, me and Nyla was calling her name for like five minutes and she just stared, then like two minutes after that her eyelids started fluttering and she was doing chewing motions. Then all of a sudden she started crying."

"What she doing now?" He asked.

"She laying down with Ny." I replied.

"Alright let's go to the hospital then." He nodded.

"Are we taking Seem or he staying here?" I asked

"Nah his ass staying here." He responded.

"Alright I'm finna go get her then we can leave."

He nodded his head and sighed.

I chewed on my bottom lip while walking back upstairs to Nyla's room.

"She sleep?" I asked.

"Uh uh."

"We finna take her to the hospital." I sighed.

Nyla pouted and picked Raelyn up softly. "Aww get better fatfat."

"Seem staying here, we'll bring some to eat back." I said.

"Okay, love you." Nyla replied handing Raelyn to me.

"Love you too stank."

I carried Raelyn to her room on my hip. She had already been bathe, but she only had on shorts and big T-shirt. I decided to just change her shirt to a long sleeve one, and slipped her some leggings on. After I put her puffer jacket and her socks and slides on we went downstairs.

"Seem behave." I sternly said walking into the game room.

"Yes ma'am, where y'all going?" He asked not taking his eyes from the game he was playing.

"We bout to see what's wrong with Fat." I replied.

He immediately threw the controller down and hopped out his seat. "I'm coming."

I chuckled and shook my head. "No it's cold outside, we'll be back, I'll bring some to eat back."

He nodded and walked towards me as I held a quiet Raelyn. "Love you fat."

Raelyn didn't respond she just stared with her fingers in her mouth.

Ja'Seem frowned and his mood kinda shifted. "Ma, why she aint say it back?"

"Baby she's sick right now, but she loves you sooo much." I responded kissing his cheek.

"Get well soon Rae." He mumbled.

Ja'Seem really didn't understand what was happening with Raelyn. He didn't know that she was there but her brain wasn't.

"I love you baby." I said kissing his forehead.

"I love you too mama." He smiled going back to his game.

After Jamari had put on some warmer clothes he met us in his car. I wanted to buckle Raelyn in her car seat but honestly I was too scared what may happen, because I was literally so confused.

I guess Jamari noticed my face because he rested his hand on my thigh."She gone be okay mama."

I turned my head towards him and nodded. "Yea you're right."

"Raelyn." I said looking down at her to see if she would talk.

She just stared at the door with her fingers in her mouth.

I sighed and kissed her forehead. "I love you stink."

Finally getting to the hospital and into a evaluation room, Raelyn was still being extremely silent.

On the otherhand Jamari ass was going in all of the cabinets stealing gloves, sanitizer, and face mask.

"You gone get us put out." I chuckled.

He smacked his lips and continued stuffing his jacket with gloves."Mcht they know we be taking this shit."

"Come sit yo ass down." I said.

"Mcht bae." He chuckled.

"NEOW." I said through gritted teeth.

He smacked his lips and came and sat next to me.

Raelyn all of a sudden bussed out crying while her arm twitched.

"What's wrong?" I cooed turning her to me.

On cue the doctor walked in with a big ole cart with different cords and a computer screen.

"Ahh is this Ms.Raelyn?" He asked.

"Yes." Jamari nodded.

"How long has she been crying?" He asked frowning.

"Um she just started right before you walked in." I replied.

"Hm, if I can get you to lay her down on the bed I wanna do a EEG Test to check her brain activity." He said.

I nodded my head and layed Raelyn on the table as her cries got softer.

"Could you remove all of her hair accessories including rubber bands."

I did as told removing all of Raelyn's bobos, barrets, and rubber bands.

"I see she's falling asleep, this will make the process much easier." The doctor nodded.

Raelyn was indeed falling asleep with her finger in her mouth.

"Okay so what I'm going to do is measure her head and mark her scalp. I will be performing a EEG which is a completely harmless test to check brain activity. I'm going to attach these electrodes (cords) all over her head. These cords are going to monitor her brain activity and amplify the brain waves. This process will take up to 60 minutes but I promise you it won't even feel that long." The doctor explained.

"Why you gotta look at her brain doe?" Jamari asked.

"I'm concerned that by the symptoms you guys wrote on her chart that she may be experiencing brain seizures." He said.

My heart dropped and I felt myself about to cry. Jamari looked down at me and pecked my forehead.

"Can we stand by her?" Jamari asked.

"Yes, it will actually be better if each parent held each hand, so that she won't feel scared."

Me and Jamari both each held Raelyn's hand as the doctor started attaching all of these cords to her head. I swear it looked to be about one-hundred cords.

"Okay electrodes have been attached now we'll wait to see what's going on with your little one."The doctor said.

He turned on the computer monitor and we all looked towards the screen.

One hour later and the test was finally done. Raelyn stayed sleep the whole time, while Jamari ass asked 1,000 questions.

After the doctor removed all of the cords he finally sat down on his chair. "Okay so I want to talk to you guys about something."

"The reason Raelyn has been staring off into space and having a shortness of absence is because she's having absence seizures. It's a indication of a vacant stare. People who have seizures the brain's usual electrical activity is altered. During an absence seizure, these electrical signs repeat themselves over and over in a three-second pattern. It is most common for kids to have these types of seizures over adults and it's especially common in girls. Now this seizure will cause learning difficulties, behavior problems, and social isolation."

I wiped the tear that fell down my face and looked at Raelyn who was still sleep. "How can we stop them?"

"Usually kids her age grow out of them by her teenage years. But with the medicine that I'll prescribe her will probably get them under control. Now these seizures may occur 2-10 times a day, so I want you guys to time each one. Some symptoms that a seizure may occur is chewing motions, lip smacking , eyelid flutters , finger rubbing , and sudden stop in motion without falling." The doctor continued to explain.

"Damn FatFat." Jamari sighed scratching his neck.

"I know this is probably scary for your family, but I can assure you that Raelyn will have the best neurologist in the state. I want her appointments to be every two weeks to check her progress or to see if her condition worsened. I will also keep track to make sure tumors aren't been created." The doctor said.

"Should we keep her out of school?" I asked.

"Actually most kids still attend school however I would make sure that her teacher really knows about her condition and that she takes it seriously and attend to is very cautiously." He nodded.

"Okay, thank you." I nodded.

"How do we know when the seizure is over?" Jamari asked picking Raelyn up and laying her on his shoulder.

"Kids her age will usually cry or swallow. Just look for small movements afterwards." He stated.

We both nodded our heads and looked at Raelyn.

"I will send her prescription in and it should be ready by the time you get to the pharmacy. She is to take it twice a day with water or apple juice."

"Thank you so much." I stated.

"No problem, I'll see you guys in two weeks." He replied walking out of the room.

We gathered our things and exited the building getting back in the car.

"We gone get her the best treatment." Jamari said breaking the silence.

On cue I burst into crying. "I-I feel so bad for her."

He grabbed my hand and glanced at me. "Baby we gone get through this, FatFat gone be okay and she gone go back to her regular self let's just keep positive."

"Y-You're right." I sniffled rubbing Raelyn's ear.

"My baby strong as hell, she gone be straight." He chuckled.

I chuckled and nodded my head. "Period."

He continued the drive to the pharmacy so we could pick up her medicine.

I was still very very scared.
