Nyla Taylor
Age : 16
Houston, Texas
"You always on that friendly shit bru." Kaydence mugged me.
"Okay cause you doing to much." I sighed.
"Whatever bru stop talking to me." He shrugged laying back on the bleachers.
"Mcht you acting like I was all in his face, he came up to me." I said.
"Okay Nyla." He mumbled.
I smacked my lips and crossed my arms over my chest. We was in the gym just for a free period. When I had first walked in a boy stopped me and tried to talk to me, I didn't even say nothing to the boy, but Kaydence swear I was entertaining the boy.
I saw Kambree speed walk in and quickly walk over to us. She's getting much better with her anxiety but she's still not comfortable with most people.
"Hi guys, you won't believe what just happened." She dramatically whined.
"What happened?" I chuckled.
"So my Bio teacher assigned a project and she assigned partners. You guys know I don't do well with people." She sighed.
Kaydence sat up now engaged in the conversation. "Who your partner?"
"Kailor." She blushed.
Kailor was Kaydence's friend and also Kambree's crush.
"Ouuuu Kambree working with her boyfriend." I instigated.
Kaydence mugged and sat up more. "Let me know if he make you uncomfortable."
"Mcht you always ruining the mood." I frowned.
Kambree was just blushing away and giggling.
"Kam, if he make you feel weird or some tell me." Kaydence repeated.
"Okay Kay." She nodded pulling out her binder.
"What you finna do?" I asked.
"Homework." She shrugged.
I smiled while admiring Kambree. Even when her mom died she kept her grades up and still managed to be in the top two with me.
While I was valedictorian, Kambree was Salutatorian. We were only in the tenth grade but honestly our school is filled with kids who can care less about their grades. So when our senior year hit we would still probably be in the same place.
"You still coming to meet my brother nem?" I asked Kaydence.
He nodded his head and laid back.
I smacked my lips and rolled my eyes. "You still mad?"
"Null Nyla." He dryly stated.
"Be doing to much ain say shit to that nigga. Crybaby as fuck" I mumbled.
I guess he heard me cause in one movement he grabbed me and wrapped his hand around my neck. "Say it witcho chest."
"Mcht Kaydence." I whined.
He kicked his lips and pecked my lips. "Pretty ass."
I blushed and covered my face. He smacked his lips and sat down and pulled me in his lap.
"Nyyyy I need help." Kambree whined.
"Okay let me see." I replied shifting in Kay's lap.
I felt him groan and he whispered in my ear. "Stop moving."
I nodded my head and sat still. Kambree handed me her notebook as I scanned the problem.

"Kam remember you have to get the y by itself so set the problem to 0." I stated walking her through the problem.
She nodded her head and set both equations to 0.
"Now use the substitution method." I added on.
She smoothly worked through the problem making sure to show all of her scratch work.
"Okay now plug your answer into y." I said.
She quickly plugged the answer into y and got one of her final answers. "Thanks Ny."
"No problem." I shrugged.

"Bubba, Kaydence outside." I said running downstairs.
"Uh uh, I'll get it." He frowned blocking the door.
Him and Ja'Seem was really doing the most right now. Jamari even had his gun behind the door.
I watched as he opened the door and as Kaydence stepped in.
"Wassup, I'm Kaydence." Kaydence introduced.
"Nigga did we ask?" Ja'Seem mugged.
My jaw dropped and I snatched him up by the back of his shirt.
Jamari opened the door wider to let Kay in.
"Mhm you can follow stank." Jamari smirked at
me.
I specifically told him that I didn't wanna be called by my nickname tonight, and he steady calling me that.
I lead the way to the living room where the rest of the family was including Alexis and Arielle.
"Everybody this is Kaydence, Kay that's my sisters Lex and Ray. My nieces Ari and Fat. You know Kambree and that's my nephew Ja'Seem." I said introducing.
"Nice to meet you." Alexis nodded.
"Nice meeting you, you can make yourself comfortable." Reagan said giving a warm smile.
I smiled and sat down with Kay next to me.
Jamari came back into the living room staring at Kaydence. "So Kaylx, how old you is?"
I bit down on my lip nervous to how they would react to his age. I glanced at Kaydence and he didn't show a ounce of fear or nervousness. He looked comfortable.
"18." He shrugged.
"Nigga you too old for my TT." Ja'Seem mugged.
"Ja'Seem zip it." Reagan gritted.
"You know she 16?" Jamari asked rubbing his chin hair.
"Yup." Kaydence smirked popping the P.
Jamari and Kaydence were now sitting up with their elbows propped on their knees.
"So whatchu do? You got a job or some?" Jamari asked.
"I play basketball at the school, and I work at Best Buy. But I'm doing some internship at the hospital. " Kay nodded.
"What you gone do after school?" Jamari questioned.
"Be a Pediatric Nurse." Kaydence said confidently.
"Oh so you like kids?" Ja'Seem asked.
Kaydence chuckled and nodded his head. "Yea I love the kids."
Jamari snapped his head towards me and frowned. "Yea Ny don't like kids, so she aint having none, aint thinking bout none, don't even dream of it."
"Ny why you over there looking scared?" Ja'Seem instigated.
"Mcht ain't you scared of Chuck E. Cheese?" I clapped back.

He mugged and bucked at me going to sit on the other couch.
Reagan and Lex had cooked a seafood boil so that's what we were eating.
We all sat around the table talking about random stuff and school.
"So Kaydence, do you have any siblings?" Lex asked cracking her crab leg.
"Yes ma'am, I got a five-year old sister and a nine-year old brother." He replied.
"Has your mom met Nyla?" Reagan asked peeling her shrimp.
"Yes ma'am, but not physically they just talk on the phone." He answered.
"FatFat eat your food." Arielle said.
We all looked to see Raelyn trying to feed her food to her doll.
"Raelyn give me that doll." Reagan said.
Raelyn pouted and hugged the doll to her chest shaking her head. "My bella."
"1....2..." Reagan said counting. This meant that if she got to 5 it wouldn't be good.
Raelyn frowned and handed her mom the doll.
"So let's cut the chase, and I know everybody wanna know the truth. Y'all together?" Jamari asked.
Me and Kaydence looked at each other and smiled. "Best friends." We both said.
I mean technically we were telling the truth. Kaydence never asked me to be his girlfriend. We just did relationship things like kiss, not entertain nobody else, take cute pictures together, fall asleep on the phone, call each other bae, and again kiss.
Everybody smacked their lips.
Jamari chuckled and nodded his head. "Mhm best friend my ass. I need a blunt I'll be back. Kaydence you can come, we ain't done."
From the looks of it, it looked like he approved of Kaydence. They were actually laughing together and talking about basketball earlier so I assumed that this was a successful meet and greet.
When Jamari left the table Lex and Reagan whispered to each other.
"Oh we best friends." Reagan mocked me.
"But got a whole hickey on her neck." Lex smirked.
My jaw dropped along with my crawfish.
My face was flushed from embarrassment.
"We not gone tell bubba, but I do have some to say." Lex stated.
I nodded my head and gave her my attention.
"Kids y'all done eating?" Alexis asked them.
"Mommy I think I ate to much." Arielle pouted.
"Okay go wash your hands and go lay down, I'll be up there in a minute." Lex replied kissing her forehead.
"Seem wash your sister hands, you can play the game for right now." Reagan said.
"Yes!" He shouted.
He quickly got Raelyn and disappeared out of the room.
It was now just me, Kam, Lex, and Ray.
"You a virgin?" Lex asked.
I quickly nodded my head. "Yes, I'm not ready."
"Okay, and make sure you do it when you're ready. Not when somebody is pressuring you." She nodded.
I didn't mind talking to my sisters about my personal life. I was actually happy that I had them to go to when I needed advice or tips.
"But I did receive oral." I mumbled.
Everybody's eyes widened.
"Was it good?" Reagan asked.
I smiled and nodded my head. "Amazing."
"From Kaydence?" Alexis smirked.
I blushed and nodded my head once again.
"Well I'm glad you're being honest, and you're comfortable enough to share this information, but remember to be safe and smart. You're growing up now and I trust you to make the right decisions. You know me and Ray are always here if you or Kam need advice so don't hesitate to ask. Be responsible." Alexis stated.
"Okay." I responded smiling.
"So it's clear y'all like each other." Reagan instigated.
"Yea, but he hasn't asked and honestly I'm not rushing him. I like what we have going on right now." I shrugged.
"Like I said be smart." Alexis repeated.
"I will Lex." I replied.
I smirked and looked at Kambree. "So Kam has a crush."
"Awwww who? I definitely need to meet him." Reagan stated.
Kambree blushed and looked down. "His name is Kailor, and we're science partners."
"I'll beat Kailor ass." Alexis chuckled.
Just like me, everybody was overprotective of Kambree if not more. Jamari especially treat Kambree like a baby. He doesn't even like when we're in public and somebody looks her way.
"Aww y'all, she blushing." Alexis cooed.
"Knock it off, I am not." Kambree cheesed.
"All hell gone break loose if Jamari hear any of this." Reagan said.
"He be forgetting I'm the oldest." Alexis chuckled.
"We're here for y'all, don't ever fold under pressure." Reagan stated seriously.
"Gotcha." I nodded.
"Yes ma'am." Kambree nodded.

Techno-Heretic
Eli is an ancient man sentenced to death for the crime of surpassing the sacred number of 32.8, which is the allowed percentage of increased mental ability from the use of AI chips. As he journeys through death and into a world of fantasy and magic, he finds himself approaching never before seen heights of magical power and ability. Powers that will shape the world and would see him go down in legends for generations ever after. But just because someone acquires magical abilities, that doesn't mean magic is suddenly the most important thing in their life. Some people aren't looking to be all-powerful gods, have the world bow at their feet, or spend their days obsessing over accumulating ever more power. Some people just want acceptance, stability, and the warmth of their loved ones to drive away the cold loneliness of the night. And in a world where magic is the bedrock of society, where magic is what determines who is preferred for siring children, where people with high magical ability are destined to live in great luxury and those without magic simply live to make due, this difference in values and perspective could not have a starker contrast. As Eli and the people around him navigate the misconceptions and deceptions of this world, he will represent a great and magnificent future for the human race. One where humanity will stand above the elves, dwarves, orcs, fairies, and all the horrors of the world. Sadly, men's tools are as fallible as the people who make them, and in a society where the potential of an individual is determined solely through their magical level, this seed of promise may yet turn venomous.
