《More Angry Birds One Shots》Never Gonna Be Alone

Courtney was more than excited to help plan for Red and Leonard's wedding. She never felt so important in her life.
“Okay, guys!" she said to some piggy cooks, quite ecstatic. “Let's see what we have so far!"
“Well, we decided to take upside-down cake to a whole other level," one of them explained, and showed a sketch of the four-tiered wedding cake. The smallest tier was on the bottom and each one on top was bigger than the next.
“I'm no expert on the laws of physics, but I'm afraid that's too big a risk," Courtney said, trying not to sound hurtful. She showed him an image on her phone. “Try this, and make it chocolate. Leonard loves chocolate."
“Sorry, I'm late, guys!" Red said, trying to hide her exasperation. “I was stuck at the dress fitting. So many options, you know."
“We weren't expecting you for another three hours," Courtney pointed out. Suddenly, she heard her phone ringing. “Hold that thought."
“Hey, Miss Red!" one of the cooks whispered. “How would you like to be the first to try my kiwi pizza bites?"
“Oh, uh, sure," Red replied, grabbing one. She then noticed Courtney getting off the phone.
“Uh, Red, the fashion designer said you ran off during one of your fittings," she explained, only to find the bird no longer in the room. “Where'd she go?"
The rest of the pigs shrugged. “She didn't say anything about my pizza bites..."
By the time Courtney hung up, Red ran out of the kitchen so she wouldn't be forced back to those fittings. Before continuing on her way, she popped the pizza bite into her beak.
“Eh, could've used some pineapple juice."

“Flowers here, flowers there, maybe a few candles," Debbie cooed. She noticed Red at the top of the stairs. “Hey, Red! What's up, girlfriend?"
“I'm trying to avoid the dress fitting," she replied, making her way down. “I love what you've done with the place."
“Thank you!" Debbie said sweetly. “I understand you're stressed. You should've seen my mom when she was getting ready for her wedding. She wanted everything to be absolutely perfect."

“Well, that's the thing," Red explained. “I'm the bride, but I don't understand why everything has to be absolutely perfect. I'm marrying the man I love, shouldn't that be enough?"
“You make a pretty good point," Debbie said. “Most girls, when they're little, only think about having a beautiful fairy tale wedding. You know, the white gown and the flowers. They don't usually think about their future groom, except maybe how handsome he is... like Hank."
“Well, I'm not most girls," Red pointed out. “I never even imagined getting married one day."
“Why?" Debbie asked. “Did your parents have a bad marriage? Get divorced? Or did your dad run out on your mom, too? If he did, I feel you girl."
Red sighed sadly. “I don't have parents. They... they abandoned me."
Debbie couldn't believe it. Red had no mother to give her advice, no father to walk her down the aisle, no one to love her and take care of her and watch her graduate high school... Debbie was raised by a single mom, but couldn't imagine having neither of her parents around.
Suddenly, Red heard voices from up the stairs. Curious, she went up to find Chuck and Bomb arguing with Silver and Leonard watching.
“I think I can bring whoever I want," Bomb said defensively.
“As long as it's not her!" Chuck spat.
“Uh, guys, what's going on?" Red interrupted.
“There you are!" Silver said. “The dressers and I have been looking for you."
“Why can't I bring her?" Bomb asked.
“Chuck, if he wants to bring a girl, he can," Leonard tried to reason with the yellow bird.
“Not if it's Louise," he muttered.
“Bomb, you're bringing Louise?!" Silver gasped.
“Who's Louise?" asked Red.
Chuck got nervous. “Don't say it..."
“She's Chuck's cousin that he slept with!" Leonard answered, ignoring him.
Chuck let out a grumble. “She was my second cousin, we were sixteen... I said don't say it!"
“It's okay," Red assured him. “He told me that story a long time ago."
“Leonard!"
“We should probably get out of here," Silver whispered, grabbing Red by the wing and dragging her to the boutique.

“Honestly, Red, I don't know why this bothers you so much," Courtney said, helping Red into another dress. “You look gorgeous!"
“Well, for one thing, most birds don't wear dresses," Red pointed out, looking in the mirror.
“Well, honey, this bird is going to wear a dress," the fashion designer insisted.
“If I have to, it won't be this one."
“It gives you some curves, ya sure?" Silver asked. Red just glared at her as she took the gown off. “Okay, forget I said that."
“If you don't mind my asking, how did you and Leonard meet?" Courtney wondered, getting another dress.
“It was a few years ago," Red began as she put the dress on, “his boat smashed my house, he kissed my wing, and launched me into the sky... and that was just one day."
“That sounds romantic," the designer said. Red raised an eyebrow. “The day I met my husband, he flew his drone through my window while I was making costumes for a movie. I was so scared, I ripped an entire boot!"
“How do you rip a boot?" Red asked, and shook her head. “Not this one, either."
“He's lucky he found you," Courtney said, helping the bird out of the dress. “Many of our past Kings and Queens, and that weird Princess Chloe, have been searching for Bird Island for years. We just began thinking it didn't even exist."
“Aww, it's like you two were meant to find each other!" Silver cooed, helping Red into the next gown.
“Well, I guess that's one way to think about it," Red admitted. “Okay, this is a definite ‘no.'"
“Come on, Red!" Courtney said. “You tried on every dress in the shop! There's got to be something here you like."
“Give her a break, guys," Silver said defensively. “Not every girl imagines herself in a beautiful gown right away."
“Honey, no one's ever turned down my work," the designer argued.
Ignoring the others, Red decided to just leave. On her way out, though, she found a pale pink trunk with gold details painted on it. After making sure no one was watching, she opened it curiously and what was inside took her breath away.
“Oh, my gosh," she said softly. It was a beautiful white cloak with soft faux fur on the edges. Cautiously, she tried it on and looked in a nearby mirror. It was too big, but felt comfortable. Almost like a warm hug. Red couldn't help but smile.
“Red, what are you doing?" Silver interrupted. Noticing her and Courtney staring at her, Red carefully put the cloak back in the trunk and ran out the door. Silver decided to peak inside. “What's this?"
Courtney took a look for herself. “Oh, the Queen's cloak? That hasn't been worn in years."
“Maybe Red should wear it, she seemed rather interested in it," Silver suggested. “Talk to the designer, I'll speak with Red."

Red went straight home after leaving the boutique. She just wanted to get away from all the pressure. As she rested on her couch, she tried to figure out why a perfect wedding was so important to everyone. Because aside from the fact that she was marrying the King of Piggy Island, Red couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Knock-knock-knock-knock!
“It's open!" Red shouted at the door. Silver entered with a pizza box.
“How you doin'?" she asked cautiously.
“I've been better," Red mumbled under her breath. “I don't wanna talk about it."
“Okay," Silver shrugged. “I'll just eat this pizza all by myself."
Red groaned. “It's just... I feel like something's wrong with me. I don't get excited about these things like you and Courtney and Debbie do. I've wanted to, but I never felt good enough."
Silver took a deep breath. “Red, you may not believe this, but I wasn't always one who thought about mating dances or showing off pretty feathers either. My aunt always made me look my prettiest so I'd find myself a man, but I just wanted to curl up to a good book about quantum mechanics. I didn't decide to be an engineer until I was eleven. We all have our own way of seeing things, Red. But I do wish you could see yourself the way the rest of us see you. You're more than enough."
Red smiled at her best friend. “Thanks, Silver."
