Our flight landed at 9 PM at night and mom was very tired due to jetlag so we took a taxi to our hotel which is a beautiful seaside themed hotel near Hulhumale beach in Maldives.

We decided we will go sight seeing and on the beach tomorrow.

" How can I help you ma'am??" The receptionist asked with a fake smile

" Hey. Umm..can you check the booking under the name of shana Rajput" I said to the receptionist with a small smile.

Now I'm at the reception checking in for our room and mom is sitting at the reception area's couch..

" okay. Just wait a second " she said and entered my name in her computer to check the booking.

I waited.

" yes . There is a booking under the name shana Rajput. Payment is already done. So here is the card key ...." she handed me the card key with a small genuine smile this time.

I didn't paid. That means papa did it...I have to call him to ask why he did it.

" Thanks Nina " I said to the receptionist as I saw her name on her blouse.

She smiled and said " have a nice time "

The bellboy helped me to bring my luggage to our room and I helped mom but she said

" what am I a 90 years old granny.. I can walk fine shana.."

" I know mom, I am just worried that you will get tired " I said worriedly.

" I'm fine sweetheart " she said and went inside the room after touching my cheek lovingly .

I turned towards the bellboy and thanked him and gave him a tip for helping us after which he went back..

I took the luggage inside the room and heard the water was running in the bathroom that means mom went to shower so I started unpacking the luggage to find mom's medicines and her sleepwear..

She came outside in a towel and I handed her the sleepwear and went into the bathroom for showering ...

I shaved everything cause I will have to wear bikini tomorrow so it took me 30 whole minutes to shower.... when I came out of the bathroom I saw mom was sleeping peacefully so I went to her, before kissing her head and going to bed..

Hope mom and I will make new memories on this trip. hopefully they will all be good...

I decided that first thing tomorrow in the morning that I will do is that I will call papa to ask about the payment and Diya to tell her that we have arrived otherwise she will cut my head off after we go back..

And with that I slipped into my la la land...

I heard the alarm on my phone... so I turned it off hurriedly cause I didn't wanted to wake mom up..she needs all the she can get before the day upcoming...

It is currently 8 am in the morning. and our scheduled time for sightseeing is from 11 am. So went to brush my teeth and showered early so that mom can get time afterwards... I wore a beautiful sundress...

After completing the routine I ordered some breakfast for both of us.. and decided to wake mom up. Now it is

9: 30 am . I woke up mom.

" mom...mom.. wake up it's 9:30 am we have sightseeing at 11 . " I said in a low voice.

Mom got up and said " good morning sweetheart "

"Good morning mom" i said smiling

" it is today... yes I am so excited to go sightseeing with you shana....I have always dreamed of spending time with my little babygirl " she said lovingly looking into my eyes " you're so grown now...I so proud of you sweetheart "

I smiled again and said " mom why don't you go shower and brush and I will hand you your clothes so that we can eat breakfast that I ordered otherwise it will get cold" I said as I pointed towards the breakfast tray sitting on the coffee table with fresh orange juice..

" okay. I love you my baby " she said

I smiled and said " I love you too" .

As she went into the bathroom and i called papa ...he received it after two rings

" hello beta( sweetheart) " he said

" hello papa, how are you doing ??" I said happily

" Oh Me and Noah are doing fine . Tell me about your mom and you , are you two enjoying?? " he said as his voice laced curiosity.

" yes papa.. mom is happy " as I looked towards the bathroom door "and I'm happy as long as mom is happy " I said genuinely.

" aww.. beta I know you love her we all do just take care of yourself and your mother... you have to be careful there..okay??" He said worriedly.

I chuckled. And said " papa we two are full grown women...are you thinking that we two will get lost??"

" I have no doubt about that" he said under his breath but I heard it and stared amused at the phone " Nah beta I am just worried about your safety"

" don't worry papa we will not get lost but papa I called you to ask why did you made the payment " I asked with serious voice.

" Oh ..you found out....shana it's the least I could do for you... I know that you have been saving money for your own house that's why I paid for the whole trip...are you upset ?? " he asked

I could feel the tears forming in my eyes..how did he know, I didn't tell anyone about saving money but I have been saving from last two years ...what good deed I did, that I got a family like this ....

" No papa I am not upset...it's just, how did you know about it" I said

" Oh i am a very observing man you can't hide anything from me...." he said

Now that is true cause he was retired as a lieutenant from Indian Army and has always been the fitness freak in our home ..

" Thank you papa" I said

" Anything for you beta" he said and I heard from background that Noah was asking him if he was talking to me

To which he said yes .

Noah came to the phone and said " hey sis I know you're there i can hear your breathing just take care of mom and bring her home safely and you can get lost for all I care..." I can literally see him smirking on the other end...stupid.

Before I could say something to him he said " bye!!! " and gave phone back to papa and dashed away from him..

What did I tell you about knocking some senses into him...I am now thousand percent sure of doing it...

" Okay dear go back to your trip we won't bother you anymore" he said

" ok papa. Love you " I said

" love you too beta " he said and ended the call

Just as I ended the call mom came out in her beautiful sundress that I gave her and she was looking divine.

" Who was on the phone?" She asked.

" Papa. I asked him about the payment.

Mom how are you feeling ?" I asked

" I am feeling absolutely fine sweetheart and I'm soooo...excited for this trip " she said excitedly

" Ok then let's eat our breakfast then you can have your medicines and we will be ready to go " I said smiling.

"Yes" she squealed and i looked at her amused before shaking my head. Why am I feeling like I am the mother here?

We are currently relaxing on the hulhumale beach and mom is sun bathing as I had applied sunscreen on her back fifteen minutes ago...

I was also relaxing when my phone blasted with a different tune than normal....

FUCK!

I looked at my phone hesitantly and I was right devil's spawn is calling me!!

How the FUCK did I forgot to call diya?! Now I'm going to get lecture of my lifetime...

I picked up the phone hesitantly and said " hello? "

There was cold silence on the other end and I knew this was calm before the storm because I can hear her slow harsh breathing ...

I slowly very slowly backed the phone away from my ears..

And then it happened. she snapped..

" BITCH WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU ?! I THOUGHT YOU FUCKING DIED! I TOLD YOU TO FUCKING CALL ME WHEN YOU GET THERE! but no you have to use your shitty brain to not call me! " she said in one go.

My mom looked at me and said " Is she diya?" To which I just nodded and explained her that I will go talk to her and come back..

When I was at a safe distance from mom I said

" I'm sorry....." cause I was not certain whether I should apologize or not.

" Bitch don't think you can get out of this one!! Just come back and I assure you I will torture you to death !! Just one call but NO!! I thought you died...

Bitch I don't care about you but should have called and informed me about

Aunt" she said .

" I'm sorry diya...I was tired tomorrow but I was going to call you today but I forgot cause mom was very excited to go to sightseeing and it went out of my head...sorry I will treat you to Italian once I get back please forgive me..." I said

I know diya can't say no to Italian food cause she is a pig when it comes to Italian food ...

" I don't know...." she trailed. GOTCHA!! I knew it..

" pretty please " i said in the baby voice.

I heard her sigh and she said " okay shana"

" Yay " I squealed as I tricked the devil's spawn and did a little victory dance to which some pretty hot boys on the beach started laughing after looking at me..

My cheeks burned red due to embarrassment..but I just smiled at them...

Then I heard diya was squealing and saying to put her on speaker so I did...but i think this was the biggest mistake i made..

She shouted through phone and said" BOYS SHE IS SINGLE AND I AM TOO...AND LET ME TELL YOU SHE IS MIXED AND I PRETTY HOT TOO SO HER PHONE NUMBER IS 8339****** AND INSTAGRAM IS RAJPUT . JUST DM HER OR SOMETHING AND YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND ME IN HER FRIEND LIST "

I don't think I have been so embarrassed in my whole fucking life . I just turned back and sprinted towards the hotel and during running I saw mom was laughing her ass off cause apparently she had listened all the bullshit diya just said....

" Diya you're so dead !!" I said while running and ended the call.

Another four days just went by quickly with me and mom having lifetime of a fun.. we went to different beaches and sightseeing .

But all that just washed away when I got call from Doctor Sakhshi who is treating my mom's cancer.. It was the afternoon's time when I got a call from her ..

" Hello . Is this shana Rajput " a female voice asked.

" yes. Speaking. " I said .

" Well Ms. Rajput, I am Doctor sakhshi from AIIMS and your mom's assigned doctor. I called you to inform you that your mother's cancer is spreading at a faster pace and she has entered 2nd stage of lung cancer . So I suggest you to admit her in the hospital asap so that we can carry out chemotherapy and radiotherapy on her... and she should get bed rest as much as she can get..I'm sorry Ms. Rajput for the bad news " she said in a symphatic tone...

" I understand " I said in a neutral tone but I was breaking inside ...all the hope that I had just went out of the window...i was in the room alone at the time.. that's why I let my tears flow free I slided down from the wall and placed my head on my knees..and cried my heart out...

After a whole session of crying I thought of mom maybe coming into the room so I got up and went into the bathroom and washed my face to remove any trace of tears..

Cause i don't want mom to worry ...

Just after 5 minutes or so mom entered the room with a grin and said "how about we go to dinner together?"

I smiled but I know it didn't reached my eyes and said " anything you want....mom.."

We had seafood for dinner and now I'm preparing mom for bed...she had already showered and dressed up for bed and I'm giving her medicine.

I know these medications are strong cause mom will not wake up until 10 am tomorrow....so I suggested her to sleep early so we can catch our flight at 10 am tomorrow..

She took her medication and got into bed and said " good night sweetie "

I smiled and kissed her forehead " good night mom"

Seeing mom sleeping peacefully brought back the memories of how much pain she is in . My eyes watered once again but I held it in...

I don't want to be weak...I want to be strong for mom... so i decided that two or three drinks won't hurt and started getting ready for the club I wore a spaghetti strap backless dress and matched it with a pair of nude stiletto heels and styled my hair in a messy bun.

Then I grabbed my clutch and card key and went to the hotel's club...
