《The Cellphone Swap》Chapter 6

Piter pater piter pater. Rain hits my window and I can hear thunder in the distance. I fall asleep to the whistle of the wind. I'm awoken by thunder booming and bright flashes of light. I always hated storms. Another flash of lighting scraps the dark skies and thunder booms loudly. I squeal and hide under the covers. The storm continues and I start getting hot under the covers. I decide to get out of the room and go to the kitchen to grab something to eat. The hall is dark besides the light coming from the living room. I peek around the corner to find Matthew sitting on a living room chair, sleeping. He looks pretty cute sitting there. I grab a blanket and sit next to him on the chair. It's one of those really big chairs that two people can sit on. I cuddle up to him as he groggily opens his eyes suddenly. he does this little gasp thing and looks at me.

"What? I got scared." I say.

"I love you." Matthew looks at me.

"I love you too." I say looking at him.

I crash my lips onto his. He grabs my head and waist as I wrap my arms around his neck. He kisses down my cheek bone. I giggle as I tickles me. He gets up and I wrap my legs around his waist as he carries me. He walks down the hall as we kiss. He opens up his door to his bedroom. It's pitch black inside besides the flashes of lightning. He carries me to his bed and lays me down. He kisses me as he pulls my shirt up and kisses my stomach. I tighten up and giggle. He looks at me and smiles. He starts up again, kissing my stomach, just to annoy me. He takes my shirt off completely. I spend the rest of the night with him, I had a feeling that I hadn't gotten in my whole life. It was wonderful. I've never been so close to anybody.

The sun shined bright in my eyes as a light breeze blew into my face. My eyes open up and the window is open. The sky is a bright blue and a few whisky clouds where in the sky.

"Hey." Matthew comes in.

"Hi." I respond. I get up and look down.

"Oh." I say and cover myself up again.

He smirks and gives me a glass of orange juice.

"Thanks." I say.

"You don't have to cover up. You do realize I saw you naked last night?"

"True. It's just weird though."

"Your weird."

"You love me."

"Yes I do."

I smile and put my clothes on. I drink the orange juice up. We decide to go surfing today so I grab a blue board as he grabs a red one. We both rundown to the beach climbing on top of them. We do this for about two hours. A big wave comes up and knocks me over, off my surfboard. I swallow a lot of water as I feel the wave pass. I come up for air, choking. Water spills out of my mouth.

"Are you okay?" Matthew asks pulling me up into his board. I nod throwing up water. He gently rubs my back the ya Gavin did when I would start to cry because I had to go to Pennsylvania to see my cousins. I give a sigh and return back to normality. I gasp for air and catch it laying in my back.

"That wave knocked you out." He said.

"I know." I say; shaking the water out of my ear.

"Let's go home." He says and grabs my board so I can get back on it.

I nod and scramble back on. I half paddle have got pushed by the waves back home.

Later that night me and Matthew are sitting in the beach;our legs tangled up together as I head the waves quietly wash up in shore. He's got his lips tangled in mine. His arms wrapped around me tight I feel protected. We break apart and he sits up. I feel like he's going to say something but he doesn't, he's just staring down at me.

"What?" I finally say, breaking the silence.

"Your beautiful." I says smiling lightly.

I sit up and plant my lips in his. I move my legs on top of his lap and put his face in my hands. He puts one of his hands on my waist, the other supporting him. Suddenly I hear a car door slam. I jerk up.

"What was that?" I ask.

"No clue." Matt says getting up. Someone starts walking towards us as a voice comes and says,

"Matt? That you?"

"Mark?" Matthew asks the figure.

Mark was Matt's older brother that I had had a crush on for the longest time. He would sometimes defend me and Gavin when Matthew would pick on us.

"I see you've finally got a girl-." Mark begins. His eyes lay on me like I'm a rare jewel.

"Hi Mark!" I wave.

"Bridge?" He asks with his mouth wide open. I nod and hug him. He hugs me tight and lifts me off the ground. I squeal. He puts me down and Matthew wraps his arms around my waist.

"Are you two a thing?" He asks wide eyed. We both nodded.

"Wow. Never would've thought Matt was your type; the bad boys." Mark smirks. I can feel Matthew stiffen up.

"I've changed Mark, that was a long time ago." Matthew said defensively.

"Whatever. Anyway what are you two doing here now? Shouldn't you be in school?" Mark quickly changed the subject.

"It's Saturday." I say. Mark shrugs and walks away. I turn to Matthew. He's still staring at Mark.

I say, "what's the matter with you?"

"Nothing I think we should leave tomorrow morning though."

"Why?" I ask. I wrap my arms around him.

"Because I don't want to be around that douche."

I feel farther apart from Matthew even though I've got my arms around him.

"Why? Are you scared of your older brother." I say sternly. He's not even looking at me; he's looking where Mark was standing.

"No I just want to go home."

"Well you didn't ant to go home before Mark got here." I say letting go.

"I'm leaving tomorrow morning you can either join me or not!" Matthew yells looking past me. He storms off into the house.

I move toward the swing. I wrap my arms around my legs and bring them up to my chest. I feel like crying. I rest my head on my knees. My eyes begin to water. All that we've gone through to end like this? He hasn't changed, he's still the same asshole I knew when I was little. I bury my face in my lap and start to cry.

"Hey what's the matter Bridget?" Mark comes walking over.

"Nothing. Just leave me alone." I say and walk towards the house.

The next day I pack up in silence. The whole darice home was silent. The plane ride was silent too. I just stared out the window. Until finally Matthew broke in,

"I think our relationship should be put on hold, for now." All I can do is stare at him.

"Whatever. Maybe we should just call it off period." I snap. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. I don't know what I feel. It's like my whole life got drained down the toilet.

"Bridget I don't want to break up period. Do you?" Pleading in his voice I look over at him. His eyes are filled with tears.

I say, "I don't know what I want anymore."

This hurt him, hard. It must've felt like a metal semi-truck plowing into him. Tears run down his face. I can't even look at him. I look out the car window instead. He stops the car at my house.

"Have a nice life Bridget." Matthew says looking straight ahead. Tears start running down my face. I do still want to be together I don't want this. But there's no turning back now. It's over. I walk out of the car as he races off. Tears fall down my face like a waterfall. I can't stand this. I bury my face in my hand and cry.
