I slowly reach for my phone with shaking hands. I press on a familiar face and bring the phone to my ear.
"Hey princess."
"Come home." I whisper.
"What's going on?"
"Please, just come home."
"Okay, I'm on my way baby."
"I love you Emmett." A tear slides down my cheek.
"I love you too." I hang up and set my phone on the table.
"We may have to bring Carlisle into this Allison." Carter, Silas' uncle, says.
"I should probably call the wicken who cursed Grams, and helped me with the whole concealing Darcy thing. We don't need to get Carlisle involved." I state.
"Do you really think she can help?" He asks.
"Yeah, actually yes I do because unlike you I will kill anyone that screws me over." I reply. I walk over to the window and watch as the jeep pulls in. I walk to the door as Emmett walks in.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" He asks looking over my body. "You need to sit down, I'm calling Carlisle."
"No." I say sternly. "I'm calling Shirika."
"The wicken! How is she going to help?"
"Emmett, calm down and trust me." I place my hand on his bicep. "I'm pretty sure this is all just because of Grams' curse. Let me call Shirika."
"I'm not losing you again Allison."
"And you won't."
"You don't know that."
"And neither do you."
"Mama, just call the bitch so you can get better." Silas intervenes. I grab my phone and walk to the study.
"Strange seeing your number." She answers.
"I need your help."
"With what my dear?"
"My father attempted to kill me, so I was turned. Now my wound has busted and I'm bleeding black, my body is starting to act human."

"Do you still have your strength and speed?"
"I have no idea and I don't want to try anything stupid."
"Okay I'll be there soon." She hangs up and I walk back down stairs.
"Well she didn't sound too concerned, so something tells me she's what caused this, only like 40 years ago." I shrug.
"So it's probably nothing." Carter says.
"Well it's something, just nothing lethal because I seem to be immune to her curses or I just don't get hit hard by them. It's an easy fix." I state.
"Then why didn't you call her first?" Silas asks.
"Because I was a little distracted by the fact that my scar- which didn't even appear until last week- was ripped wide open and was oozing black blood." I deadpan. "Oh and nobody mentions any of this ever again."
"Okay I'm here." Shirika walks through the door. "You look worse than what I expected Allison." Her eyes flash around the room. "But I can still help you. It will just take more time."
"What the hell is even wrong with her?" Silas asks.
"She has a thing for cheating death. She managed to survive my curse, child birth to an immortal, several suicide attempts, several homicide attempts, and even the transition, up until now at least." She replies.
"Silas you could've told me she was still a newborn." Carter snaps.
"It doesn't matter." She steps forward and looks me over. "She'll always be a newborn, my curse will keep her that way. Her senses will only grow stronger, that's if she makes lasts through this spell."
"I lasted six hours after being stabbed in a vital organ when I was human, trust me I can handle a little magic trick." I scoff.

"And that is why she has cheated death so many times." Silas mutters. My eyes change to a dark red and I glare at him.
"Well your eyes are back." Emmett says.
"Listen to her heart." Shirika says flatly.
"Why do you even have a heart beat?" He asks.
"Ask her." I wave a hand toward the wicken.
"Did the wound heal?" She asks.
"After I stitched it up the thread came out and it turned to a scratch."
"I don't think I need to do the spell then. You're healing on your own."
"How?" We all ask.
"Somebody else counteracted my curse, and they did it before you were born. Nothing can kill you, not unless you're ripped apart and burned. Whatever counteracted my curse will continue to make you stronger, you owe someone big time."
"No. I think I know who it is, and if I'm right, they were just paying off a debt."

Shadow in the North
What if a work of fiction wasn't fiction at all? What if we only thought it was fiction because it was written down, and we were separated from it by the page? Isabel Darrow, troubled by her past and feeling disconnected from the world, likes her doctor's suggestion that the world of fiction might become reality. She likes the idea of waking up in the middle of her favourite book with the handsome, brooding Mr Thornton glaring at people in his mill yard, but she doesn't worry about the foul air of dirty, smoky Milton, because it's not real, and it was written over 160 years ago.But then she takes a trip to Oxford, and gets waylaid along the way, finding herself greeted at a smoky train station, by a man called Mr Hale, who claims to be her godfather. When Isabel meets Margaret and first sees Mr Thornton, she's determined to help the course of love run a little more smoothly for the two stubborn lovers. But Gaskell hadn't accounted for a second young lady in the Crampton house, and whilst Isabel tries to adapt to a life where women have no independence or equality, Milton must adapt to her. The question is, will Mr Thornton adapt to her, or Margaret, first?
