《The Doll Family》Chapter 16

Author's POV
What time was it? What day was it even? Kiara had no clue how long she had been here. She groaned as her stomach rumbled. When was the last time she ate? Maybe she would get up and go out for a burger or something. Oh yeah... she couldn't. You know, because she's being held hostage by some horny lovesick obsessive murder due and his family. Who, interestingly enough, seemed to actually have some morals.
Kiara continued to ponder away until her mind came to her friends. Clara was gone. Despite the fact that Clara had basically told a killer to go kill her instead she still missed her and didn't think she deserved death. She couldn't blame her for what she did. She was only trying to protect herself right?
Kiara groaned as she slid her hands across her face. It was too much. She wished she hadn't gone out that night. Or even better, never left home at all. What of her other friends? Considering past events it seemed like Mikey, Eli, and Amy had been caught. Or something happened to them. She didn't know if Kane had been caught either. She knew she should have pressed him more about his lying. Was he a part of this? Was he working with these killers? Or was he just scared? Maybe both?
It doesn't matter now though. She didn't even know if her friends were alive. She missed them. She missed her family. She missed her home. She wanted to run, get away from it all. But she knew she couldn't. They would never let her. He would never let her. She knew that unless some miracle happened, she would either wind up dead or she would succumb to him and his desires. Neither of which she wanted.
For the first time in awhile she felt a wave of sadness wash over her. What was happening truly dawned upon her. Fear was replaced with misery. She could feel her hope fading..... NO! It wasn't over yet. If she focused and stayed one step ahead maybe she could pull something that would free her of this situation.
She flinched suddenly, feeling a hand rub soothing circles along her back. She had been facing away from the door and had been so lost in thought she didn't notice that someone had came in and sat next to her. She also had just now noticed the wetness that streamed from her eyes and the way her breath shook as if she had been crying. She allowed her breathing to still and prayed to whatever deity there was up there watching her, if there was one at all, that it wasn't Simon. She just couldn't deal with him right now.
"Are you alright sweetie?"
She felt her tense body relax a bit. The voice was feminine and by the pitch more mature than Simon's sister so it must've been their mother's. Turning her head to face the person her assumptions were confirmed. The woman wore a warm and oddly comforting smile. She pulled her hand from Kiara's back and put her arms around her and pulled her into a hug. However, Kiara let her body tense up once more. As much as she wanted to lean into the hug in search for some sense of comfort she had to remind herself that this woman was also a ruthless cold-blooded killer. She couldn't let a sweet smile and comforting motions trick her mind into thinking that this was okay. Kiara didn't consider herself some genius psychologist or something along those lines but she knew what game they would play. The manipulation game. Lure her into a false sense of security. Manipulate her mind into thinking they had any kind of relationship other than a psychopath and their hostage. Make her think that they're family.

Kiara sat grounded in her spot. Refusing to move at all. The woman sighed and and released her.
"I know this is all such a big change for you sweetie. But everything will be okay. Your father and I will make sure of that. And I know Simon has his... issues. But he's very sweet once you get to know him better. I'm sure you'll love him just as much as he loves you."
For whatever reason that set Kiara off.
"You're not my parents and you're sure as hell moy family. And I will love your son or any of you for that matter.", she practically hissed.
It took Kiara a moment to fully register what she had just said.
'Of fuck. Why did I just say that? They're gonna slit my throat for sure now.'
Focusing on the mother's face she found it to have not changed one bit. It still help a sweet smile on it. To be honest, it kinda creeped her out. Before either of the two could say anything a stern voice stepped in.
"Don't use that tone of voice with your mother."
Kiara slunk back a bit. Shit.
"I-I..."
"Felix honey, don't be so harsh. Our little baby girl just got here and she's probably scared."
Kiara cringed internally at that. She was not their "babygirl". But she held tongue. She needed to ba careful about what she said if she wanted to get out of this alive.
"Right Molly dear.", he then turned more towards Kiara and cupped her face in his hands. "I'm sorry if I scared you sweetie."
It took Kiara almost all of her willpower to not jerk and pull away.
"How about we go downstairs and eat?", he suggested. "I know you haven't really had any food in awhile and you need to keep up good nutrition sweetie."
"Sure.", Kiara mumbled, deciding it was in her best interest to agree.
Both of the adults smiled and took her down to where the dining room was.
When they got there Kiara found that Simon and Delilah were already seated. The mother and father took their seats. Kiara slowly went towards hers which was between Simon and his mother.
The dinner was mostly silent with the exception of the noises of chewing and the clink of utensils against plates.
"So, what are we gonna do with them?", Simon asked breaking the silence.
'Them?', Kiara thought to herself. 'Were they talking about her friends?'
"We haven't decided yet.", the father replied.
"Aren't we moving soon though?"
"Yes, but now isn't the time to discuss it." he replied, flicking his eyes towards Kiara.
"Moving?", Kiara questioned.
"Yes sweetie, we can't stay here forever so we'll need to move soon.", their mother replied.
"But-"
"Oh you'll love it. You'll get to go places and see so many things. A road trip with your family is always nice right?"
'Yeah, with MY family not YOUR family.', Kiara thought to herself.
The thought of moving worried her though. She knew they couldn't be all too far from the camp. If they moved it would make it harder for the police or someone to find her.
The rest of the dinner was fairly quiet with a bit of chatter between the other family members. After finishing and cleaning up she went to the bathroom to take a shower. Luckily there was some soap, shampoo, conditioner, as well a few towels in the bathroom.

Kiara let out a long sigh as she let the warm water cascade down her body. She wasn't entirely sure how long she had been here but she finally felt a sense of peace other than when she was sleeping. However, the feeling left her when she recalled what had been said at the dinner table earlier.
They had her friends... and she knew that they would be killed soon. It was only a matter of time.
She held her hand to her mouth to try to hold the choked sobs in. At least no one could hear her in here with the water running.
After finishing her shower she stepped out and dried herself off. Gathering up her clothes she peeked her head out of the bathroom. No one was there. She quickly sped her way back to the room, hoping that she wouldn't attract a certain someone's attention.
Reaching the door she quickly opened it flinching as she accidentally slammed it behind her. She then looked down at the handle hoping to find a lock. She let out an annoyed huff as she found nothing... great. She'd have to make this quick.
She was about to throw on her own clothes when she noticed a bag in the corner. Wait... was that her bag? And had it always been there. Deciding not to dwell too much she rushed over to it and opened it. She was happy to find that it had almost all the stuff she had brought on the trip. She grabbed her nightwear and hastily changed.
She was about to shove her old clothes back in when she remembered she kept a pocketknife in her bag. Dumping out the contents of her bag she almost jumped for joy when she found it was still there. Good, that could come in handy. She looked back down at the floor, searching the scattered contents of the bag for anything else useful. Clothing, toiletries, journal... ah ha! Pepper spray! She was so glad the people at camp didn't really check through the bags, she knew that stuff like this would've been immediately confiscated. Hmm... what else? She had noticed some stuff had been put in the bag that had been out before. Such as her collection tin, her bag of writing supplies, and her plushies. No laptop or phone though, that should've been expected.
Looks like there was nothing else here that would be useful.
Hearing footsteps she quickly shoved the knife and spray into a secret pocket in the back of the bag. She then threw the rest in there and turned around ready to face whatever was coming in.
It was Simon. Big surprise there.
"Hey baby, took a shower I see?", he purred running his fingers through her slightly damp here.
"Yeah.", she shrugged.
"Aw, you should've asked me if I wanted to join, you know I would've."
"I'm going to bed.", Kiara replied ignoring his comment.
"I'll join you."
Kiara climbed into bed shutting her eyes hoping to fall asleep as quickly as she could. In her haste she failed to notice him pick something up off the floor. She also failed to hear the light growl from his as he stared the object that was now in his hand. However, she definitely did notice when he got into the bed with her, tightly wrapping his arms around her. Maybe a bit too tight. But she didn't dare say anything.
A few hours later~
Kiara made no movement as she heard the bed creak and the warmth of the body next to her move away. Typically she would be glad he was leaving and wouldn't question it but her curiosity turned when she heard him grumble a few things and tear what sounded like some kind of paper. She remained silent, trying to focus on her breathing to maintain the illusion of sleep. It wasn't until after a few minutes of waiting after he had left the room did she finally allow herself to move so that she was sitting up.
Moving to the other side of the bed she saw what looked to be a crumpled up piece of paper on the stand next to it. Turning on the bedside lamp she carefully uncrumpled the picture. Her eyes went wide as she realized it was a picture of her and her friends. One they had taken together before leaving for the camp. There was something missing though. She saw her friends, Amy, Clara, Eli, Kane... but it seemed she and Mikey weren't there. Torn away from their friends. Narrowing her eyes she tried to remember what they looked like in the picture. She threw a hand over her mouth to stop her from gasping aloud. She remembered that Mikey had his arm thrown over her shoulder while she had her head leaning into him. Almost like they were... oh no.
Dropping the picture she ran for the door and tore it open not caring if someone was on the other side or not, but not before grabbing the knife and pepper spray out of her bag. Despite the lack of light she could make out a ladder that had been pulled down. One that led to the attic. Making her way over to it she had just put her foot up the first step when she heard some muffled noises as well as a loud thud. She hesitated for a bit. Should she really go up there? Wait, why is she even asking herself this? Of course she had to. He was going to do something horrible to Mikey. She had to try to stop him. Climbing up the ladder and swinging open the door she found Mikey gagged and bound laying on the floor with Simon's foot on top of his chest pressing down.
"Kiara?"
