《The Doll Family》Chapter 8

Kiara's POV

After we had eaten, most of the rest of the day consisted of asking questions and sleeping. I didn't like the idea of having to converse with a killer, but I took this opportunity to learn as much as I could about my situation.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Simon and I'm you're lover."

"Who were the rest of those people?"

"Our family. My sister Delilah. My mother Molly and my father Felix."

"Ours?"

"Yes, you're part of the family now. Well not officially but don't worry, it'll be official soon."

"What do you mean officially?"

"You'll find out soon enough."

"How old are you?"

"18, so I'm two years older than you."

"Where am I?"

"In a cabin in the woods"

"Is it yours?"

"No, it's from some people we killed. We're just using it for a bit until we move on."

"Are you human?"

"Kind of, but not exactly. What I and my family are isn't fully known. We function like humans and usually look like humans, but we're not, or well at least not normal humans. Like humans we do require sleep and food, but only about half as much as the average human. Our strength is also typically superior to that of an average human as well as our senses. We even have a bit of what I hear people call a 6th sense. Ability to predict something before it happens or just simply to know something you typically wouldn't.

"Why did you kill Clara?"

"Just felt like it, besides, she would have only been a nuisance if she were kept alive."

"Why do you kill people?"

"It's just what we do, consider it the family business."

"Don't you ever feel any remorse or guilt?"

"No."

Author's POV

Kiara laid herself out on the window seat in the room. It was nightfall and she could barely see anything outside the window. Still, it was somewhat comforting yet at the same time disappointing staring out and imaging herself running away. Her head was just filled with a raging ocean of new information to take in. Despite not wanting to converse with the killer she decided it was her best bet. She would not only gain some potentially valuable knowledge and it helped a bit to keep his hands off of her. Not to mention it sounded better than him just staring at her all day.

She kept thinking back to that conversation. She had learned a lot, it was almost hard to keep track of it all and keep it all organized. To separate what was important to what wasn't. However, out of all the moments during that conversation only one left a great impact on her. When she had asked if he felt any kind of remorse or guilt towards his victims he had answered with a solid no. There was no emotion within his voice whatsoever and there was no hesitation when answering the question. It scared her. The way he could not only change his emotions quickly, but seem to make them disappear all together. It wasn't something natural. She would have to be careful for sure. One wrong move and he could easily snap her neck without a second thought.

She was pulled out of her thoughts by a noise outside. She quickly looked towards the window to see three figures walking towards the cabin. At first she assumed them to be Simon's family, as he had mentioned they would be returning soon. But with a closer look she could tell that wasn't them. A small fragment of hope sparked in her. Outsiders! Maybe they could help her. The problem was getting to them. Simon had said he had to go up to the attic to do something. What would he do if he caught her? No, now wasn't the time for that, it was now or never with this. This could be the opportunity that got her out. She hopped off the window seat and made her way over to the door. Slowly creeping it open she peeked out into the upstairs hallway. She saw that the attic door was pulled down, but the other door up in the attic was closed. Good, that meant he probably wouldn't see her. She quickly tip toed downstairs until she was at the front door. As quietly as she could she turned the latch to unlock it. That was easy... too easy. She opened the door to find... nothing. Absolutely nothing. She hastily speed walked out the door and made her way back to camp. Forgetting entirely about the figures she has saw. As well as not only failing to notice the cut rope that hung above the doorway but failing to notice the figure in the attic window watch her leave with wide eyes of shock.

The girl with a mix of blond and brown hair stared out the window in shock. That other girl had left? She looked back to the boy who was preparing to return to torturing her. Maybe... maybe if she told him he would let her go? Yes, that's it! Or if he wouldn't let her go then maybe she could escape while he was out? Yes! She could definitely escape. She had been untied from her chair and while her hands were still bound behind her back her feet and legs for free. She may not have enough strength to fight back but if she was given the opportunity, all she needed was a few minutes to make a run for it.

"She...she-e...uh she-", she stumbled surprised at how she could barely form a sentence.

"Spit it out whore.", he hissed.

She flinched at the venom in his tone. She had regretted trying to hit on him that night.

"L-le-l-left."

"You opened your filthy mouth just to tell me something I already know?", he growled.

The girl let her mouth drop in shock. How had he... but he couldn't have. He wasn't even facing the window when she had left and she hadn't heard anything so how could have he? Her hopes instantly crumbled. However, soon that feeling of disappointment was replaced by one of terror.

"Tsk, didn't I tell you not to talk? Guess we'll have to cut out that filthy tongue of yours. Maybe it's for the best, who knows what kinds of things it's picked up from where it's been. Maybe I should wear gloves?"

The girl let out a scream as she tried to push herself away from him.

"God, you're annoying. If you weren't the sacrifice I would've plunged this knife up you long ago. You did say you liked things in you, right?"

She screamed even louder and tightened her legs together. He laughed as he dragged her back by her foot and the landed a hard stomp onto her knee breaking the bone within it. He stopped when the sound of a door from somewhere slammed open and numerous footsteps and voices were heard. He smiled.

"Maybe you won't be the sacrifice after all. Maybe I'll just go ahead and kill you later", he said gagging her and tying her back to the chair.

"Besides, it looks like I just got some brand new toys."

A/N:

Yay, chapter 8 is done. I hope everyone is enjoying the story. We're almost at 200 views. Please take the time to vote and comment if you can. It means a lot to me and helps me to want to write more. I also want to know what you think of the story and characters so far!

Okay so just some random notes, in the last chapter with Kane and Eli, yeah idk what I was doing with that. Maybe it'll develop into something or maybe it was just to help pad out the chapter or make Mikey's section longer so idk about that "plot".

Also I'm sorry if the beginning part of the chapter with the conversation was confusing or awkward. I didn't want to or plan to write the whole conversation out. Just some highlights of their conversation to maybe help get a better grip on the story and characters and to help move the plot along. So sorry if that was weird.

Here's some fanart of Simon done by a friend of mine. I'm just glad that I have some sort of reference picture of him other than a low quality image on google lol. If you want to check out her account it's @homelesstrashman on Instagram!
