《The Doll Family》Chapter 1

A young girl of 15 whose hair and eyes were nearly black but not quite, stepped out of the bus. She smiled, glad to get out of the cold and musty school building that was almost like a jail. She and her classmates were here on an end of school field trip for a week. Her school always did testing a bit early to allow for this trip. Despite tests and classes being done the girl had brought a notebook as well as some writing material, a small bin to put things she had collected, as well as her laptop. It was optional, but if you made some kind of thing talking about your experience on the trip, you would get to raise your grade a bit in whatever class. She didn't need it by any means but it was easy enough.
"Kiara!", a voice called out. The girl looked over to her friend Michael whom she called Mikey. She quickly walked over to him.
"Guess who one of your cabin mates is!"
"Who is it? I hope it's isn't you.", Kiara said jokingly. Mikey let out a gasp and put a hand over his heart dramatically. "I can't believe you would say such a thing! Oh, how you wound me with your words! Why must you be so cruel to me?" Kiara let out a small laugh. "And guess who else is gonna be with you!", came a high-pitched squeal. Kiara opened her mouth but before she could respond another squeal rang out from the small girl with a blond ponytail. "That's right me and Clara! And Eli and Kane as well! Eeeeeeeee!" Kiara smiled, "That's great! All 6 of us in the same cabin!"
"But, you won't like who the other two people are, it's Bella and Benjamin.", Clara cut in.
The whole group sighed, Bella and Benjamin. The demon twin spawns. Rude, obnoxious, ignorant, self-centered, and believed they owned the world.
"Hey, at least we're only cabin mates. For most of the day, they'll probably be off with their friends." Eli piped in.

"Yeah as maybe we could pull some little pranks on them!", Kane snickered. "I mean it's 6 six of us vs. the two of them."
"True," Kiara said. "But they'll probably go off and cry to the teachers and act like you tried to murder them. Better to avoid any drama with them."
Kiara's POV
After we finished our little conversation, we all gathered our baggage and headed towards the cabin. Looking around I smiled. It was a cute little homey cabin. Complete with 5 sets of bunk beds, a few rugs, some storage areas, and a small bathroom near the back. We all took our beds and set up, luckily there were three bunk beds all virtually next to each on the same wall. I took the middle top bunk. The one with the best view of the window. On my sides were Clara and Amy. Underneath me was Mikey with Eli and Kane in his sides. We all were walking out of the cabin to grab the last of our baggage when Clara pulled me aside.
"Kiara, look I-.... I know this sounds stupid but... I just have a bad feeling about all of this. I told Amy but she just brushed it off as a few as she called it "wild nerves"."
"What do you mean?"
"Amy says I watch the news too much but I learned that there was a murder of a family of 5 only a few hours away from here. What if they come over here? I don't want to die or see anyone die."
"I'm sure it's nothing to be worried of. For one the killers or whatever may have gone a different way and remember, there are hundreds of people here. I doubt they would target this large of a camp. And we'll all stick in groups when we go out and I doubt they'll enter the main camp borders anyways. So there's nothing to worry about, this camping trip has been going on for years and nothing has gone wrong other than one or two injuries made by some dumb kids."

"I know but... these murders have been more frequent lately and all in the same area. I know we're pretty safe here but still, I get a bad feeling that something is going to happen."
"Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to you"
"Promise?"
"Promise"
After eating, listening to announcements, and dealing with the demon twins jeers and petty insults when they learned they would be with us, we finally got to go to sleep. I laid in bed looking out the window. It had maybe been an hour since we were sent off to bed but I couldn't sleep. The thought that someone could be out there waiting to murder or do something horrible bothered me a bit. I knew we were pretty safe inside the camp but...
'Damn it Clara!'
I hugged a stuffed animal I had brought a little closer. Yeah, maybe I was too old but I didn't care. They were a source of comfort for me. As I was wrapped up in my thoughts I saw a dark figure slowly walking outside. I quickly closed the blinds, only to peak through them a few seconds later. My eyes widened in fear, the dark figure was staring directly at me. However, I couldn't seem to see their face. I quickly looked away before opening them a few seconds later. Gone. I turned my back to the window. Shaking a little I let out a shaky sigh.
'It wasn't anything... right? It was probably just a rogue student breaking the rules or a teacher or counselor out patrolling. It was most likely nothing'
Authors POV
The young boy walked through the camp, making almost no noise. He had been surveying the camp earlier.
"Well? What do you think?", the voice of his sister called out.
"Few hundred people, looks like a school group", the boy responded, "I don't know about you but it's not my dream to kill hundreds of high school kids, sounds like too much work."
"Well it's not my dream either but mom and dad think we need more practice on larger groups."
"Oh yeah, from families of 2-8 and now hundreds of people, baby steps I guess."
"Please, you're over exaggerating. No one said we were going to kill them all at once. More of just luring some groups away. We probably won't even get to kill all of them before they runoff. Anyways it's like 150 kids at most."
"Whatever, I'm going to keep scouting.", the boy said before walking away. As he walked around the camp he saw movement in the corner of his eye. Looking up he noticed that someone must've closed the blinds from the upper window. Not only 5 seconds later he saw a shift of movement before it disappeared again. He felt a surge of something rush through his veins. He wanted to walk straight into that cabin and... well he didn't know. Shaking his head he walked back to where his family was.
"Oh, Simon honey! There you are! Delilah said you had stormed off somewhere!", his mother fussed. The boy gave a quick glare at his sister before turning back to his mother. "Mother, while I was walking past one of the cabins I think someone saw me. I doubt they saw my face, but that's not what I'm worried about."
"Oh?", His mother questioned.
"I felt something. Something almost exhilarating. I felt it when whoever saw me looked at me. I don't know what it was but it was... different from anything I've ever felt.", he finished as he looked towards his family for answers. His sister looked at him like he was some mental patient why his parents gave each other glances as if to confirm something. His mother and father looked at him and gave a slight smile.
"I told you, you would find her in time."
