《Ace Of Hearts(#Book1 in ACE series)》"Not love, hopeless-romantics!"

I don't know what has happened to the man who is dragging me, but I am sure whatever it is - it is quite dangerous. Ace is currently dragging me by my forearm, onto the dance floor. Many couples were still dancing and kissing, showing their love publicly while here my so called-husband-for-one-year was busy showing his hatred.

"Ace, leave my damn hand." I growled twisting my wrist so as to free it.

"Oh really. why should I do that? Is it so that you could runaway with another man, throwing dirt on my reputation and name? Or so that you could again go and make a masterpiece by throwing all my belongings across the room?" He asked mockingly.

"Oh shush. Firstly, I wasn't running with Darcy, secondly, yes. Yes what I did with your clothes is a perfect masterpiece. But you started it for god's sake?" I said angrily.

"Oh I did? What exactly did I do Mrs. Parker?" He again asking mockingly.

"You did the same thing! You threw my clothes all over the over!" I said outrageously.

"And don't you dare call me that again." I added.

How can anyone lie so much?

I guess he learnt it from 'pretty little liars' .

Jerk.

"What? Why- Wait. I get it. You have lost it. Completely." He said more to himself than me making me gape at him.

"Oh! So now you are the one who uses my clothes as a frisbee yet I am the one who has completely lost it?" I said sarcastically.

"I didn't throw your fucking clothes-" I cut him off.

"Don't say my clothes as 'fucking' for fuck sake-" I was cut off by him as he pulled me into his chest and took my one hand in his while his other hand draped around my waist.

"What the fuck -" I was again cut off by Mr. Apathetic as he shushed me by keeping his finger on my lips. Hot.

Fuck.

"Dance." He whispered into my ear by bending himself.

Dance? You have got to be fricking kidding me.

He held me and started dancing with the slow song. Just as we moved around a little, the music changed to a fast paced one as 'Levitating' by Dua Lipa started playing. We looked at each other, still holding each other as if we were slow ball dancing, and then started laughing hard with each other.

"Damn, they have a very bad timing." I said still chuckling and Ace nodded at me laughing hard.

"No way in hell, we can dance on this song." I said shrugging.

"Are you challenging me?" Ace asked raising his eyebrows.

"Maybe." I said playing along.

"Fine. You asked for it." He said and in a swift grabbed me making me twirl around.

He swirled me around and before I could catch my breath, he again pushed me away only to pull me towards him the next second. but before I could crash on his chest, he shifted and instead I fell into his arms.

He then rolled me towards the side and then pulled me back to him, only to roll me towards the other side. I was confused as hell, as I didn't know what to expect. Ace was dancing or rather making me dance so fast that I couldn't understand. But he was really good at it. He never left my hand. No matter how far he pushed me, he was the one who pulled me towards him. He then made me fall into his arms by side, at the same moment the song went on the low note. Perfect.

At that moment I felt something, something which made me realize something.

He held my waist with both his hands, securing it around for a second and then he swiftly spun me. The second I stopped spinning, he was there beside me - as he held me before I fell back. He then guided me to move with his steps as we matched the rhythm of the song. He never missed a beat. He was always perfect in his moves, he made me stop at the right note, he made me fall at the right one. He came behind me, holding my waist with one hand and my hand with the other one. He then slowly encircled my torso, swaying my hand around in a graceful move.

The second the phrase "I got you" came, he lifted me above the ground making me inches above Ace's height. He spun around with me in the air only, as I positioned my legs perpendicularly to each other - for balancing. I looked down at him to find him staring at me only, with an expression which I wasn't able to understand.

No, it was not love, hopeless-romantics!

He then put me down firmly on the ground. He swirled me for the last time and I ended up with my hands around his neck while he held my torso. It was the perfect ending move, and we looked as if we were hugging each other.

At that moment, the a round of applause broke out - making us snap our little moment or whatever it was. Suddenly I noticed the amount of stares and attention we were getting which made me self-conscious. I looked down, not wanting to face Ace.

I hate being the center of attention.

"Come on. Let's go." Ace said suddenly and guided me towards the drinks section. We sat down on the nearby chairs, while the waiter came and served us a drink, which I guess was rum. I took my glass and gulped down the drink to ease my nerves. Then, Ace excused himself to take a call and I sat there - looking like an idiot.

After a while, someone tapped me on my shoulder. I turned around to see Darcy standing there, looking at me. Yeah, I have to give him some answers I guess.

"Uhh..hey Darcy!" I said.

"Hello again Elizabeth. Where did you go?" He asked me.

"Oh..nothing. Ace wanted to dance and he is kind of over protective." I said lying.

Yeah he is overprotective, he doesn't want anyone else to ruin my life - only he has the rights to do that.

"Okay, so can I sit here? Or is he coming around again to kick my ass?" He asked jokingly.

"Oh no. Sure. Sit down." I said smiling. He must think that I am a lunatic.

"So what is your real name, Elizabeth?" He asked giving me his charming yet curious smile.

"Oh yeah. I am Eva Parker. And may I have the privilege of knowing your real name, Mr. Darcy?" I asked playing along.

"It's Jason Smith. But you can call me Darcy only because I am going to call you Elizabeth." He said and I showed him a thumbs up.

"So was that your husband? The one who dragged you and made you dance?" Jason asked.

"Oh yeah. That's him." I confirmed.

Jason was about to say something but his phone rang at that very second, and he groaned looking at the caller. He said 'excuse me' and picked up the call.

"I said the deal is off. Just get the fuck out." He said in hushed voice but I caught the words. I didn't mean to pry but I was able to hear it, even though unintentionally. He then hung up the phone.

"Sorry for that. It's just some idiot, work and all." He said but he looked kind of angry and anxious. But I didn't ask him anything, because it really wasn't my business.

"You two are one hell of dancers. That dance before was splendid!" He said complimenting us and I was surprised, of course. To me it looked as if we both were having some kind of 'dance-war'.

"Ah...uh...thanks. Me & Ace and Dance, go a long way." I said metaphorically thinking about our history of dances.

He manhandled me during dancing.

We were about to almost kiss each other.

And what not, let's just not talk about it.

Before Jason could answer, a female voice interrupted us. We looked towards the stage and saw a women in 30s holding onto a microphone.

"Good evening Beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen! Now we are nearing to the end of this beautiful evening. And here comes the most awaited moment of this evening- the most beautiful couple of tonight!" She announced.

"I completely forgot about it." I muttered.

"Yeah. I didn't even know about it." Jason said.

"So the time has come to announce the name of the most anticipated couple! The most beautiful couple of tonight is -

MR. & MRS. PARKER! " The lady announced and I was dumbfounded. What am I supposed to do? And where the hell is Ace?

"You know, I could be your Damon Salvatore to take your Stefan's place like Damon did during the Miss Mystic Fall's event but unfortunately, your Stefan doesn't have blood-drinking-problems - And there he is!" Jason said pointing towards my back and I turned around to find Ace coming towards me. Thank god.

"I request the glamorous couple to come on the stage for crowning!" The lady announced cheerfully as if she was getting the prize.

Ace came up to me and then locked our arms, as we proceeded towards the stage.

"Is this a prom or what? Seriously? They are going to crown us like prom king and queen?" I muttered under my breath.

"Just Calm down, Eva." Ace whispered back to me. I nodded and took a deep breath as we reached the stage.

"Congratulations Mr. And Mrs. Parker." The lady said smiling and I returned her smile, while Ace - just nodded, as usual.

She took two small ring boxes and handed one to each one of us. She then said that we have to make each other wear it. Ring is way better than crown. I opened the box to reveal a beautiful ring which was in the shape of a king's crown. I slid it on Ace's finger and Ace did the same. The ring Ace made me wear was also very elegant. It was in the shape of a queen's ring. It was a perfect size, or maybe it was expandable or something.

But that was not it, the lady then announced that we are getting a gift also. She then handed us over a huge rectangular wrapped gift. It was something light and had frames around or something. I was already curious and wanted to rip open the wrapping paper. But I held myself as we descended the stage and came back to our seat.

"Woah. This really is huge. What's inside?" I blabbered excitedly.

"I don't know. You have to open it to see it." He said shrugging, showing almost no interest in the gift or anything.

"Can we go out? The garden or something. It's really crowded in here." I suggested and Ace nodded. We got up and started to leave the place but I remembered about Darcy.

"Uhh...just a second. Wait here. Don't go." I said handing over the gift to him and sprinted across the room to find Jason, okay tried to sprint with the heel and huge dress I had on.

"Wait what-" Ace had started but I was long gone.

I searched across the room and I finally found him.

"Hey Darcy." I said breathlessly from the hasty sprint.

"Hey Elizabeth? " He asked confused.

"I just wanted to say goodbye before I left. I don't know if we will ever meet again but it was a great evening with you!" I said truthfully.

"Oh. I had a wonderful evening too! I hope to see you again soon." He said hopefully

"yeah, same. Goodbye, Jason Smith aka Darcy." I said bowing dramatically.

"Goodbye to you too, Eva Parker aka Elizabeth." He also said dramatically.

We chuckled as I sat goodbye to him, laughing and smiling.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Oh my-

"God."

I eyed Ace and saw that he was still not interested in the gift which now lay open on my lap. The gift was a photo frame which had our photo which was clicked while we were dancing. It was of the moment when he had lifted me up in the air and I was staring at him. Also he was staring at me which made it look like we were so 'in-love'.

All the irony aside, the photo was really very beautiful..and it was huge. It barely fit in my hands. The golden frame complimented the photo as the lights were dim in the photo and our matching red and black clothes were in contrast with it.

How did they even prepare this so fast when we danced just an hour ago?

But Ace wasn't interested even a bit and there was not even a fraction of excitement on his face while I looked like I was going to explode right now. I rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see me as he was busy in his phone typing something, as usual.

Before I could taunt Ace for this, a voice made me, and even Ace, look in its direction. I saw a boy in his late teens smiling at us. He was carrying a camera and one more guy was behind him carrying other photography accessories.

"Hello Mr. & Mrs. Parker. Actually we wanted some of your photos as a couple as you won the title of most beautiful couple." He said.

"Of course-"

"Not interested-"

We both said at the same time. I looked at Ace and rolled my eyes. Ignoring him I told the boy - "Yeah sure. Don't mind him. He is a little moody."

I received a glare in return for saying that from Ace but I was growing used to it so I didn't mind. I kept the photo on the bench nearby in the garden and took Ace's arm and dragged him to stand up, taking him towards the boys so that they could click our picture. Ace was still not in the mood for the photo but thank god he didn't kick me on the ass in front of other people.

We posed for the photographer as he took numerous photos. He told us to come closer and closer we went. He held me as I kept my hand on his chest and looked at him. We did many poses and after the photographer was satisfied, we were finished.

Okay yeah, sorry.

Let me correct myself - after Ace got irritated enough with the posing he barked at the two guys scaring them enough for them to leave from his sight in the next ten seconds. Typical Ace. Ace was about to go when I stopped him by clutching his wrist and he stopped only to glare at me hard enough to bury me in the ground.

"What do you want?" He growled.

"Uhh..I was..wondering...thinking..that now that we are standing...would you like to dance again..just one more dance...I have something to ask..you know my question for today. Because the second you enter the suite you would stick to your laptop for the rest of your night." I said stuttering.

Ace just stared at me for a few moments and then started shaking his head.

"Why?" He asked after a moment.

"uh..how will I know why you want to stick to your laptop, maybe it is because I-" I was cut off by Ace's calm yet thoughtful voice.

"Why dance?" He asked.

"Uhh...I danced today after a very long time. You know the real dance. I- Wait. Is this your today's question?" I asked him.

"What? Oh okay. Yeah okay. Yes it is." He said shrugging.

"Okay then let's dance while I tell you the story. The song playing inside is loud enough for us to dance. " I said and he nodded as he came towards me and held me in the position to dance.

"How can we even dance to this song?" I asked Ace to which he just shrugged.

We glided along the music, as the song was little bit fast-paced. Ace pulled me into him and I crashed into him very badly, as I wasn't expecting it. 'Earned It' by The weekend played in the background making me picture Christian Grey in front of me and I can't help but feel hot. As if the song itself was not enough for the goosebumps that Ace placed his hand on my waist, making me shiver like hell. I told ya, his touch is toxic as fuck.

"Is it safe to dance?" I asked after sometime.

"What?" Ace asked confused.

"Oh Nothing." I said shrugging it off a I didn't want him to know that I was fantasizing about Christian Grey naked/half naked right now.

"So do you dance ?" Ace asked me.

"Dance...yeah..I did. But I don't..now." I said stuttering.

"It's my question for today. You have to tell me." He said and for the first time I saw curiousness to know about 'me' in Ace.

"Of course, I danced. It was something me and my mother had in common. We used to dance for hours and she was the one who encouraged me to dance. I started dancing when I was just four and a half years old. I still remember the feeling of control and passion I felt when I danced around our home, showing my mother my new moves and telling her to teach me more. The passion was so much that I had decided that I wanted to be a dancer in future and get into a dance school." I said remembering.

"But it all changed. It all changed when she left me. It was as if I had lost something, some of my motivation. I still remember that day when I first entered into the studio, wanting to dance. I went there when I ran from home and started staying in Jennifer and just stared at myself in the mirror in the studio. I don't know how long I was there but I was there, alone just staring at myself. I wasn't able to dance, not even a step. I was suddenly numb and everything about my mother came flooding back to me. I just took my things and left the studio - and never returned. I stopped dancing after that. Until today." I said with nostalgia.

"Why today's dance only? I mean why do you call it a 'real dance'?" He asked as we continued dancing.

I chuckled and said "It is very ironic but what we had in that moment- it felt real. Real, so real that it was almost as if I was dancing when my mother was alive. We danced before also the beach, the reception party and all but not like today. Something was different. I know it sounds dramatic and you may think of me as a drama queen but it is-"

I was cut off by Ace saying "I understand." as he looked at me with all the understanding and warmth he could muster and I smiled at that small yet moving gesture as we danced with the music playing behind us and me thinking about dancing, again.
