《Vanilla Smoke (Blue Exorcist)》Chapter 32

Shuku's knuckles were white from her grip on the straps on her backpack as she stared blankly at their destination for the next three days, her dread hidden underneath an unreadable mask. Something was going to happen here, within those next three days, something big and life changing. What? She had no idea, but she had her theories. First off, she knew it was going to include the Knights of the True cross since nothing had happened yet, even though Rin had been discovered, and Shuku was put on watch. Next, it was going to involve Rin. He had been caught, red handed, and the consequences were sure to follow. And the last was that Amaimon was going to be involved one way or another, Shuku had a gut feeling he wasn't done yet, still not entertained.
"Yeah!" Rin jumped with excitement and went off into the forest, his excitement filling the air, lightening the mood, making Shuku emerge from her serious, solemn thoughts. Everyone went off into the forest, all almost as happy as Rin, Though, Shuku found it extremely hard to act happy about going into a demon infested forest for the next three days.
Shuku walked up to a tree and stared up it. A smirk came to mind as Shuku started climbing up it when no one was looking, despite having a heavy pack on her back. In reality, Shuku was generally unfazed by its presence. She heard Shima scream in fright, something about bugs, and the air started smelling like bug repellent. Smoke worked better, she knew this from experience. Shuku's right eye started glowing as she inspected her surroundings.
The forest had small berries in the lower brush, but a higher humidity level. No freshwater was seen near by, possible threats of lower level demon activity at night. It was warmer here than in the mountain forests. Shuku still had her hood on and up despite that fact though, temperatures would drop as the night progressed. Shuku climber a bit higher, into the tree canopy. She watched the other below her, the popped her head up above the tree line. Just on the horizon, you could see the city where they had just come from, a glistening mountain of silver and glass. When Shuku climber down a branch or two, she saw her classmates gathering their things and following Glasses down an obvious trail. Shuku smirked as an idea came to mind.

Shuku followed them, but not on the ground, but in the trees, ninja style. Making her steps silent, she jumped from branch to branch with cat-like agility and ease. Shuku had stuffed her pockets with acorns, all part of a plan. The afternoon sun was hot, but Shuku didn't give a crap and didn't let it slow her down. However, it clearly seemed to be wearing out everyone, but Rin that was. He was packed full with excitement and inhuman energy. Shura had done the smart thing and given Rin her pack, which didn't slow him at all.
Shuku distantly listened to Yukio's lecture on the forest. It was on stuff she had concluded when up in the first tree. And how they had to set up camp before nightfall. No duh Captain Four Eyes. The group slowed and stared at Rin, who had found a small spring of water coming from a rock. Wow, he found fresh water.
"Hey? Has anyone, seen Shuku?" Shima asked, looking around, not finding her.
"Nope. Who cares, probably off ahead somewhere." Izumo shrugged. No one said anything about her after that. Gee, thanks.....
Shuku stopped in a branch to Rin's right and pulled out an acorn. Shuku smiled evilly and chucked the acorn with impossible accuracy. It hit another branch to Rin's left and it made a loud noise before crashing into the bushes. Almost in sync, everyone's heads turned towards the bush. Shuku moved to a new position, and positioned herself in a squatting position in took out another position before her location could be discovered. Like a ninja. Shuku noticed Shura waving it off, Rin being curious, and everyone else not really caring, except for Yukio, who no doubt had a hand on one of his guns, in case there was a hostile demon.
Shima was sent to investigate, with Rin in tow, and Shuku took out two acorns from her stock, and chucked them at the two's heads, hitting them square in the back of the head with an audible 'thunk'. Shuku moved again, but this time getting more attentions as Shima complained about how that hurt and Rin doing the same.
"You know, I heard squirrel will chuck acorns at people when agitated. Perhaps that what threw the acorn?" Konekomaru suggested. 'Some squirrel I am them Nerd' Shuku thought with a silent chuckle.

"But why would a cute little squirrel be so mean and throw acorns at people? That meanie squirrel!" Shiemi pouted, naive little blonde.
This time Yukio had his guards up, as well as Shura. Shuku smirked as she plucked an acorn and threw it lightly at Yukio, hitting him on top of the head. His eye twitched in annoyance. Shuku threw another and a grumpy Polka-brow, and Skunk, hitting Izumo between the eyes and Ryuji in the neck.
"Owch! Stupid squirrel!" Izumo yelp in pain, rubbing the impact area and Bon growled inaudible something. Yukio narrowed his eyes in annoyance.
Shuku jumped to a new branch, now on the opposite side that she was on earlier, and started throwing more, lightly hitting Shiemi's foot, not wanting to hurt the poor girl. Chucking them at Yukio, Bon, Shura, who dodged them, or most of them. One had landed right between her... *cough*....yeah her boobs. Her own fault. And then threw one, not very hard at Konekomaru, hitting him in the head. Everyone was now very annoyed and confused.
"Ok, so it's not a squirrel, a demon maybe?" Shima said with a sigh, and Yuko visibly drew his guns, trying to pinpoint the supposed demon. Shuku smirked and eight acorns, one between each finger, and ran from branch to branch, throwing them at Yukio.
Yukio, with just as much accuracy as Shuku, started shooting her speeding acorns from the air, the other's running behind bushed while Shura watched with a smirk. To avoid being hit by the bullets that went through the acorns. It went on for roughly two minutes of constant movement for Shuku and being fast enough to dodge the bullets and throw the acorns at random at Yuikio alone this time. Yukio shot every last one of the acorns, until the last one. Yukio ran out of bullets, and Shuku threw the last one, and it hit him square in the back of the head. Shuku smirked, and jumped down, behind Yukio, who sighed.
"I win." Shuku said smiling in entertainment, Yukio turned around and sighed, admitting defeat.
"How you manage to get me in these situations, I never know. I should've known that's where you were and were behind the acorns. Only you could throw acorns like that." Yukio sighed.
Shura clapped, walking towards Shuku, and Rin burst out of the bushes.
"I didn't know you were a ninja Shuku!" Rin exclaimed, "And you managed to beat Yukio! Me next!"
"You beat the chicken. You got skill kid." Shura yawned. Shuku picked up another acorn from the ground and threw it at Yukio once more. He caught it and his eye twitched in annoyance.
Shura watched as Shuku smirked and Yukio started chewing her out for not only ditching the group but for putting herself in harm's way and out of teacher supervision. Shuku dismissed Yukio with a yawn, which irked the teacher even farther.
"Well technically, I didn't ditch, I was just in the trees the entire time. I'm not hurt, and as for teacher supervision, I don't need it. I can protect myself." Shuku argued back by not raising her voice at al. In fact, to Shura, she just seemed bored now.
"You really make me want to shoot you sometimes, you know that?" Yukio complained, and Shuku faked hurt, which was obvious due to the shit-eating grin on her face, which showed her enjoyment at pissing off Yukio.
That's when she pulled out her vapor pen, then blew the vanilla scented vapor all over an annoyed Yukio. Shura was almost right along with the girl, pissing Yukio off. She did an expert job at it too. But the kid had exorcist level skill, not only to match Yukio's speed, but to not get hit by any of the bullets, and beat Yukio by hitting him first. Acorns verses bullets, the girl had guts, when she could've died, but she didn't seem panicked at all. Shura would have to pay closer attention to her, she could be the one she was supposed to find after all with skill like that.
There was a high chance she was the missing and wanted priestess of the Temple of the Moon.
