《Vanilla Smoke (Blue Exorcist)》Chapter 30

-~Recap~-
The last one jumped at her, and Shuku planted the last and final arrow in its head. The stimulation ended and the world returned to normal, with Shuku's knives back at her side, panting.
Shuku turned around, feeling a presence behind her, only to find a gaping Skunk, Shima, and Konekomaru standing in the spectators section.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The boys just stood there gawking from the spectator's section, and Shuku stood there, eyes wide in shock, face flushed in embarrassment. There was that awkward silence thick as pudding in the air, just sitting there. Shima was the first one to break that uncomfortable silence.
"Whoa.... since when could you do that?" He asked, and that seemed to snap Bon and Konekomaru from there staring.
"Shuku. What the hell was that?" Skunk asked, his face going back to his usual glare.
"That clearly wasn't an on level fight. And since when has your other eye been slitted like that?" Konekomaru asked as well, and Shuku cursed to herself for being so careless. She hadn't meant to get that far into a battle stimulation, but she did blow off her steam, but so much she was in an air of low pressure now.
"Um....... hard. That was hard." Was the awkward response Shuku gave to their questions, then turned so her back faced them so they couldn't see how red she was in embarrassment.
"Shuku! That's not an answer. What. The. Hell?! And what happened to your eye!?" Bon order and Shuku sighed, well here goes nothing.
"It was a training stimulus. I train my skill to get stronger because though knowledge is good, it's worthless if you don't have the strength to back it up." Shuku said stoically. They all blinked in confusion.
"As for my eye. It happened on our mission with the giant squid, how though, is none of your concern." Shuku turned around, her face stoic, exactly like it used to be. Annoyance decorated this stone hard expression, making Bon want to punch her, though she still looked like a guy.

Shuku took out a kunai and started twirling it around in her hand. Konohamaru blinked, she did stuff like that with pencils in the classroom, and when she threw them, they always hit their mark. Shuku walked past them, back towards the dorm, tossing the knife up in the air then catching it and sheathing it, taking out her vapor pen instead. Shuku took a deep breath from the pen, the vanilla soothing her nerves.
"What are you doing over here anyways? Or did you just come to gawk at me?" Shuku smirked, reverting back to asshole mode.
Bon growled, "We came to see what Rin was up to, and what the hell happened earlier at the park." He replied, noticing the very visible lavender glow coming from her right eye. Past that cocky and witty exterior, Bon could almost swear he saw something else. Pain, and Anger. Hate. But none of it seemed to be directed at him.
"Welp" Shuku broke their staring contest, and whatever Ryuji saw was covered with layers of asshole. "He's not here yet. Go interrogate him later. We have school tomorrow." Shuku walked away after that, going inside the old dorm.
Ryuji growled once the door shut and Shuku gone.
"Dammit, I hate him sometimes!" Bon shouted in anger.
"Bon, Shuku's a girl." Shima added, then took a step away from Bon in his anger.
"He's just an asshole with too many secrets! He's so smart but so cocky at the same time! What's his issue anyways?! Why does he have the right to be such an ass anyways?! WHat's he hiding?!" Bon raged.
"First, we find him in a fucking prophetic chant! Then, Shuku disappears into thin air right before our eyes and reappears later with the mysterious idiot Okumura! And not to count that Shuku's a fucking girl! ACK!!" Bon vented.
Shuku had too many mysteries around her, Okumura too. What were they hiding? What ever it was, Bon was going to find out what it was they were hiding.

////////////////////////////////////////////The next day////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Shuku leaned back in her seat in class, having a major eye twitch moment. She had her hoodie back on, the hood up, as she reclined backwards in a punk-like manner. Hebimaru opted out to find and locate how many new exorcists have been transferred to True Cross and to find out if Shuku was under surveillance. Shuku herself, though, was currently glaring at their 'new' teacher.
"How's everyone doing? I've been transferred from Vatican Headquarters to the Japan branch. My name is Shura Kirigakure and I'm 18 years old!" She said in a sweet voice.
"Nah, I'm kidding. I've in class with ya'll for the past three months. Technically we already met. Nice to meetcha again!" Ms. Kirigakure laughed. Everyone was practically in a state of shock. Shima had hearts in his eyes, almost literally.
Shuku wanted to high five her. In the face. With a desk. That was on fucking fire.
"Anywho, I'll be teaching you guys magic circles, and seals, and yeah, swordsmanship too. (Aw, kill me now)" She said and Bon raised his hand.
"Ms, Kirigakure?" He said uncertainly.
"Yeah, what's up, Mr. Suguro?"
Bon stood up, "So, why were you pretending to be a student?" Shuku nearly scoffed at him. It was obvious, wasn't it? To keep an eye on what the clown was doing, cuz he is sketchy as fuck.
"Adults have their reasons, you know? You wouldn't understand kid." Before Suguro could respond, Izumo stood up, her hand raised.
"Ma'am? Professor Noithouse was teaching magic circles and seals. Changing instructors mid-semester is kinda confusing." Izumo mentioned. That was right, what had happened to the weird teacher who had attacked them? Probably got kicked from the school board, and from the exorcist ranks, made sense.
"The professor's...... on maternity leave. Maternity leave, yeah!" She lied, yup, he was missing or kicked. She obviously didn't come up with a good enough cover story.
"Professor Noithouse is a man!" Izumo argued, see, bad liar.
"Oh, ok. then... Maternity leave or... whatever! What do I know?! Ask the precepts!"
"What?" Izumo asked, but then, Shuku's attention went to the door that opened, and in walked the elusive Rin Okumura.
"Sorry, I'm late." Rin said, his face contorted in embarrassment, "You see, I didn't get much sleep last night and... went up to the roof to take a nap, but no one came to wake me up. Even after homeroom ended." Shuku nearly laughed, Rin had left earlier, but she had completely forgotten, and Hebimaru was scouting, so it all worked out!
"Well, come on in, I won't get mad at you." Shura said sweetly, making Shuku internally gag. Rin blinked and then realized that who exactly was their teacher. He gasped.
"It's you! What are you doing here?!" No duh Okumura, thanks for stating the obvious.
"Never mind. Sit your ass down already." Rin phased out of his shock and sat down, Shuku could feel a renewed and brighter sense of determination coming off of him. He and Shiemi had a short conversation, the blonde probably still worried.
"Is it just me, or does he seem a little different today?" Bon asked to no one in particular.
"Maybe he suffered some kind of shock or something." Was Shima's explanation for Rin's new determination.
"You really think so?" Konekomaru asked.
Shuku smirked to herself, maybe she did have friends. And she wanted it to last. As long as Rin kept going steady, Shuku would head towards her dream as well, but as an exorcist.
