《Vanilla Smoke (Blue Exorcist)》Chapter 29

Shuku watched Shura with narrowed eyes, her right eye glowing faintly in reaction. She didn't like her current situation in the slightest. Currently, she was proving who she was with her Exorcist badge that listed her rank, a picture and probably her department and mysters. In her mind, Shuku was analyzing Shura's every move with the utmost precision. Shura had used an incantation style summoning, and she could use a demon sword at a high level, much more skilled than any of her classmates, and would definitely give Shuku hell in a fight. She was possibly even stronger than Shuku, that was, at the moment. Exorcists like Shura always had something up their sleeve.
Shura briefly met Shuku's burning glare, both confused and suspicious of the strange child. She had seen her do a forbidden thing only one other person in the exorcist community could do without dying immediately after. Light incantations were not only extremely difficult to perform but dangerous as well. Only roughly 3 people in history have ever successfully performed light incarnations without the risk of death. It made Shura wonder, but taking direct action toward who this girl could most certainly be, would be like grabbing water with your bare hands. She would no doubt get away. But now, she had a newfound demon to deal with.
"Anyway. I've got to go take him to Japan branch HQ. I also want to talk to Mephisto. If he's got a problem with that, drag him to me if you have to." Shura said, getting an affirmative from Mr. Tsubaki(Teacher Sideburns).
Shuku watched as Shura whispered something into Rin's ear before wrapping her arm around his neck and dragging him off. Shuku let out a mental sigh. She should be more discreet now if she wished to stay and coop up in Exorcist ranks for now. Especially since Rin had been discovered and more people were going to be on edge and looking for anything else sketchy.
"Excuse me, Rin's injured and needs treatment. Can't this wait for a moment?" Shiemi asked, poor thing. She was probably worried.
"Aw, don't you worry, he'll be fine. But baby you smell like milk so chill out." She answered, then Shuku scoffed out loud.
"Says the one who's practically suffocating him." Shuku yawned and stuck her hands in her pants pockets.
Shura blinked and letting Rin take a breath, Rin sending Shuku a thankful glance for telling his captor of his struggles. That form of suffocation wasn't the worst way to go out for a guy, but it still wasn't a selected option at the moment. She followed them out and Yukio branched off to tell the others that the missions over and to go home.
"Let me go! I can't breath damn it!" Rin shouted as they walked through the gates. Shura had put him in exactly the same position as before. Shuku walked over and stood behind Glasses as everyone watched Rin get dragged along by an unknown female.
"Aw man, now I'm jealous." Shima sighed.
"Shima." Konekomaru said, clearly understanding more of the situation than him.
"Hold on a sec. Who's that hottie?" Shima asked, still oblivious to what actually happened.
"Wait? She's wearing pants from a boy's uniform. Could that be Yamada?" As smart as always Konekomaru. So that was the undercover name Shuku had never bothered to learn.

"No way!" Shima exclaimed.
"Typical Okumura. The guys always getting into a jam." Bon added, and Shuku sighed.
"Yup." Shuku added, popping the 'p'.
"Hey! Hold it right there. Shuku you too! Do you guys have any idea what's going on?" Polka-brow asked.
Shiemi, who had previously chasing Rin, stopped and looked over at them. "I'm not sure yet, but all I know is that it's not his fault, is it? Shuku, you were there before I was, do you know what happened?" She asked, saying the last part of her first statement more to herself.
Shuku blinked, not really sure how she should answer this question without giving out Rin's secret. Everyone's gaze turned to an unsure Shuku, making her feel slightly uncomfortable. Yukio was waiting for her response as well, but she shot him 'talk later' look before answering Shiemi's question.
"um.. stuff...? I couldn't catch much other than a few sounds of some skirmish, the rest of the area was covered in dust and smoke." Shuku said. It was true, but yet it was more lie though than truth.
The answer must've been satisfactory because Izumo sighed. "Yet another mystery of the Idiot Okumura."
"Well, I have to go along with Shura and Rin. You, students, should head back to the dorms, missions over." Yukio ordered and we all went our separate ways.

Shuku decided against resummoning Hebimaru and went to a small park near the back of their old dorm. She needed to vent and think, and training seemed to help with that, so that's what was going underway.
Shuku had set up a small training area in the back with some dummies she borrowed (permanently) and had a magic circle in the place of a sparring ring. Shuku would always make an effort to push Yukio or more commonly, Rin in there with her. To be honestly brutal, Rin needed more skill to fight Satan, not just his powers and instincts, that was something Shuku and Yukio agreed on. The circle was an illusionary trap turned training ground. It cast a high-level light illusion that could create fake demons and certain environments to hide and fight in.
Used in battle, the circle would trap enemies in an unfamiliar place that the user could manipulate at their will, till they incapacitated their enemy. The circle is what made up most of the training field, with an extra circle around it so people could see what's inside the circle and spectate the fight. It was her personal training ground since the park caught her unwanted attention from civilian and student alike. Only her, Rin, Yukio and she had a creeping feeling Mephisto too, being a creepy, stalker clown he was, knew of it.
Once Shuku had caught Yukio in the middle of a simulation demon fight, using guns created by the circle so no real harm would befall those spectating or the threat that a stray bullet would escape and hurt someone. He's actually pretty good, he managed to take out all of the demons in the sewer line setting, which could get really difficult. Once he had finished the round, and the spell cast by the circle broke, she had applauded him, making Glasses turn beat red. It had been wonderful embarrassing her glasses wearing dormmate and teacher.

Shuku slowed her walking pace and stared up at the sky in thought. Did she have friends? Did she have anyone to consider a friend? Rin, maybe Yukio? She had been a real ass in the beginning, and could still be, just not as hostile. Skunk was an ass, but he had friends, but what about Shuku? The rejected, teenage, runaway priestess that was anything except stereotypical to her positions. But, if she had friends, then would it hurt when she had to leave?
She knew it would be soon, no visions needed, it was a hard gut feeling when the Exorcist Shura had gave away her cover. She suspected Shuku now, and once discovered, she would have to leave, or stay and give herself over, and possibly start a war that could hurt all of those that could possibly be her friends. No, that would be selfish, but wouldn't leave be selfish as well? She would leave, they would hate hurt but she would leave. Soon. Once Rin's secret was out, she would leave, since her's would be spilled as well by then. Best to enjoy it while it lasts.
Shuku sped back up and quickened her pace, up to a fast sprint. Warm up...?
',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',At the Training Grounds,',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',',
Shuku held her knees, panting. Maybe it wasn't a smart idea to sprint all the way back to the dorm. Catching her breath, Shuku walked through the building, grabbing a bottle of water from the kitchen first, then heading to the training ground. It was going to be sunset soon, but Shuku didn't care, she would sleep later, not now. She walked towards the circle and slipped inside of it. A little window popped up in the air, like a video displaying the various challenges and settings. Shuku selecting her challenge, what wanted it to do, and its skill level before the window blinked red and vanished. Shuku closed her eyes and focused inwardly, feeling a small pull at her energy being taken to activate the circle. The wonderful thing about this circle was that it could use outside energy, almost solar powered.
When Shuku opened her eyes she stood in a dark forest, which her eye instantly reacted, and her natural night vision activated. Branches blocked out the moonlight, and 10 figures with red, glowing eyes were circling her. In her hand, replacing her knives, was a bow, and a quiver rested on her back containing 10 arrows. Only one for each kill, no missing allowed. Her now slitted eye gave her a slight edge over this fight. Her aim was sharper than before now, her reaction time faster. In less than a blink of an eye, one of the monsters lunged, and almost faster than the eye could see, and arrow appeared in its chest, and it disintegrated, shattering due to the effects of the magic circle.
The creatures were wolf-like, with pitch black fur, and glowing, blood red eyes and snarling K9 teeth bared in an attack. Hellhounds. Shuku notched another arrow into her bow, and pulled it back, ready to shoot. The next wolf lunged, and Shuku barely managed to slide under it and plant an arrow into its heart. Two down, eight to go. In a consecutive attack, another wolf lunged as the other shattered before hitting the ground, aiming to strike before Shuku recovered. The demon wolf snarled and pounced, but close to the ground, and aiming for her neck.
Shuku brought up a booted foot and kicked the wolf to the side, and notched two arrows and gave a slight prayer. As the wolf quickly recovered, another joined its attack, and Shuku let the arrows fly. One arrow landed through the wolves' eye, the other lodging itself in the back of a growling wolves throat. The two demons turned to dust at the same exact time. The remaining six wolves circled her, snarling and growling with their bear-like size. Shuku notched another arrow and held another in her mouth. This time, three wolves attacked at the same time, two charging from opposite directions at impossible speeds, and the last in the air to struck from above. Her sides were blocked and going backward was not an option, so Shuku charged forward at her own fast speed under the leaping wolf, and launched the arrows at the two wolves on the ground.
The wolf seemed to flip over, and tumble to the ground, shaking itself to attack again after its quick recovery. In this time the remaining three wolves joined in and surrounded her on all sides, she was trapped. Shuku cursed, she couldn't go upward, and there was no way to attack without leaving herself open. The wolves started circling her again, slowly tightening their trap. Shuku removed her last four arrows, and put two in her mouth, the other two in the bow, ready to find their targets and kill. She would have to time this perfectly, or the stimulation would end prematurely, signifying her death.
The wolves attacked as one, and Shuku jumped as high as she could as one dived at her. She stepped on its head and planted one arrow into its skull. Then shot the second at the second closest wolf, both shattering. The last two wolves attacked her sides. Removing an arrow from her mouth, Shuku pulled back her bow and narrowly dodged a charging hellhound, shooting the other in the face, turning it to shards. The last one jumped at her, and Shuku planted the last and final arrow in its head. The stimulation ended like an old Tv screen turning back on the light of day hit her and the world returned to normal. Shuku rested her hands on her bent knees, panting from exhaustion and her adrenalin rush.
Shuku turned around, feeling a presence behind her, only to find a gaping Skunk, Shima, and Konekomaru standing in the spectators' section. Shuku cursed.
"Well... fuck."

Rise of a Scarlet Devil (Regular+Draft Version)
A young girl slain during a war was brought back to life by some unknown force millennia later. She could only remember a vague face within her memories, uncertain as to who it was but there was one thing she did know. She needed to kill that person. But she was too weak, she needed to hide, to grow. She needed to flee from the battlefield her enemy reigns over. And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.

Multiple people, multiple ways
Sometimes things get harder, when people know their feelings TOO well. Which often results in (especially for teenagers) a very confusing time. If you pair that up with many many many personal crisis'... life becomes much harder than one might expect.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~WE ARE BACK TO BASICS! If someone knows me from a long time ago, they'll know I used to make ALL my covers via very bad editing because I didn't have anything better. Well, I have nothing better anymore, so, the cover is going to be that until I get it changed somehow. This'll be POLYAMORY. I will say it at the start, I absolutely hate, when things get stupidly complicated because people can't decide in fanfics, unless it's done well.Welcome to the adventure of me making a story absolutely nobody asked for.
