the windows curve in and out

of moonlit days and memories,

and bloody walls and floorboard descend

into syllables of the doomed escarpment

as the thunder screams, sinking

the swallows and serenading sadness

of our phantom piano

that my heart yearns to hollow out

and hide in.

but your iridescent daisies and petaled

bubbles arrive, a frenzy

of colour that soaks itself behind

eyelids and screams, until tears are no longer

transparent and vulnerable

but flaming,

and dancing to music coloured

like the sunset of a sky on fire.
