《Have Hope》37

Y/N POV

When I woke the next morning, I was worried the entire day yesterday had just been a dream. I quickly realized that was not the case when Kelley woke up, launching out of her bed, screaming.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE HOPE BACK!"

The brunette flew into my bed, tackling me, making me groan.

"Kelley what the fuck it's like 6 am, and if you bruise me, I'll kick your ass." I grumbled, shoving her off me.

"SORRY! IM JUST SO HYPED BECAUSE WE HAVE THE FINAL TODAY AND HOPE IS GONNA BE THERE AND JUST OH MY GOD!"

"YES! I'm aware, thank you." I covered my head with the pillow, rolling over before shooting out of my bed, my pulse racing when I realized what she had just said.

"Holy fuck. WE'RE PLAYING IN THE FINALS!" I yelled, now just as hyped as the defender, who nodded aggressively, jumping around the room with me.

"What the fuck is going on in here? The entire fucking hallway can hear you assholes and it's like 6 am." Carli groused, bursting into our room, rubbing her eyes. I could see some of the other players standing behind her, looking as though they had just woken up as well.

"Sorry! We're just excited for the finals today!" Kelley said breathlessly, though very enthusiastically.

There was a second of silence before everyone scream, cheering. "OH SHIT!!!!" Ash hollered, pumping her fists in the air.

"LETS FUCKING GO BITCHES!" Pinoe whooped, jumping into Ash's arms.

"BRUH WE'RE GONNA CRUSH TODAY!" Tobin added.

Even Carli was dancing around, laughing with Sam, Rose, Sonnett, and Crystal.

"What the FUCK is happening?? I'm trying to fucking sleep!" Ali questioned angrily, storming into the room with Christen, Becky, Julie, and Abby in tow.

"Sorry babe, but there's no time to sleep when we have the biggest game of our lives today!" Ash said way too loudly for her girlfriend's liking.

"Tobin you better have a damn good explanation for being this loud at 6am!" Christen scolded, glaring at her girlfriend, who just looked over at Ash and I.

"Uh....what Ash said."

The players began to squabble with each other before Ash loudly spoke up, shutting everyone up.

"Okay wait how did the entire team end up in this room, and where is Alex?"

We looked around. "Good question. This room is way too small for all of us to be in here." Becky yawned.

"Psh, not me bitch, I'm small." Crystal said smugly.

"Well that's great but that still doesn't answer the question of where Alex is." Ash said, surprisingly being the one to bring focus back to the point.

"She woke up super early this morning, said she needed to talk to Jill about something." Pinoe supplied, taking a sit on the edge of my bed.

"She's not hurt or sick or anything, right?" I asked, worried.

"No, she's good, don't worry. Probably just wanted to ask about the lineup or something." The purple haired woman answered.

"Okay, so now that we're all awake, I guess we should just get ready for breakfast then?" Mal asked.

Everyone nodded, humming in agreement, before filing out of the room.

"That was an unexpected, yet very fun moment." Kelley said, watching the door close behind Tobin.

"It was, but seriously Kelley, why the fuck did you wake me up so early."

"Oh shut it, we had to wake up anyway. You're just a baby."

"Pftt am not!"

"Oh really? Because as far as I'm concerned, I'm your step mother now bitch." She cackled evilly, and I felt both terrified and disgusted at the same time.

"Okay first of all, fucking ew, and secondly, you're not my step mom." I laughed, shoving her.

"Maybe not yet, but all in due time young grasshopper. Besides, step mom or not, I'm like ten years older than you."

"Hah, you're old."

"Say that again, I dare you."

"You know what, I should really be going to the bathroom."

----------------------

Everyone was wide awake and pumped up as we ate breakfast, talking about how far we've come in the last 8 months, and our predictions for the upcoming game.

My mom sat with Jill at the coaches table, periodically looking over at me and smiling.

"Oh, by the way Lex, turns out my mom already knew about us- mostly. She guessed, and I accidentally confirmed it." I explained to the forward, who giggled and shook her head, pressing a kiss to my cheek.

"Well I'm glad we won't have to deal with one of those awkward 'parent meetings' where I try to figure out how to tell Hope Solo that I'm having sex with her daughter."

"Okay fucking gross dude! I'm eating!" Tobin complained, making the table laugh.

"Well that saves you the pain! How the fuck am I supposed to tell your parents!?"

"Don't forget her sisters." Ash piped up, causing me to glare at her.

"Not helping."

"Aw, don't worry babe. When the time comes, it will be fine. My family is super chill. Nothing to worry about."

"Well they're coming to the game today, right?" I asked a little nervously.

"Oh shit, yeah I forgot about that. Well I guess the time is today." She chuckled, patting my cheek as I groaned.

"Great. Just great."

After breakfast, Jill gave a rundown of what the day would look like for us, since the game wouldn't be until the early evening.

"Right, everyone. Today is the day. We've made it to the final game of the world cup. That is a big deal, so please, pat yourselves on the back- but not too much, because we've still got one more game to win. We do have a short conditioning session before lunch, but between now and then you're free to go out, or stay in, whatever you prefer. Between lunch and the start of the game there is a press conference which all of you will be attending, so hair and makeup will need to be done for that. That's really all I've got to say for now, so you're all dismissed. As always, if you decided to go out, take a group with you, and let a captain or coach know."

We all nodded then stood, making our way up to our rooms, some of us to change into more street appropriate clothing, and some of us to just hang out in until lunch.

Kelley and I both changed then headed to Ash and Tobin's room.

"You fucks wanna go out?" I asked, leaning into their doorway.

"Yeah bitch, what do you think we're changing for?" Ash laughed, rolling her eyes.

"Cool, we're gonna go ask Ali, Allie, Chris, Pinoe, Lex, and Crystal."

We stopped by each mentioned room, asking the pair inside if they wanted to hang out. It seemed everyone had all had the same idea since they were all changed or changing when we asked.

Kelley and I ended up hanging in Pinoe and Alex's room while my girlfriend did her makeup.

"Wonder what Hope is up to." Pinoe said, looking over at Kelley.

"Dunno. I talked to her earlier, sounded like she and Jill were working on something. We'll see her later though." The defender answered.

"Wow, Worms, I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised you're not more...you know...scrambling to hang out with her." Alex said, in a non judgmental way.

Kelley shrugged. "Honestly, me too. I guess I'm still adjusting to having her back, you know? I don't want to move things too quickly and spend every second of every day with her, only to fuck things up for good."

Everyone nodded. "I respect that. You do what's best for you." Alex smiled.

A few minutes later Ali, Ash, Tobin, Christen, Allie, and Crystal entered, all ready to go.

"Jesus what is taking so long?" Megan moaned dramatically, falling back onto her bed.

"Shut it Pinoe, I'm almost done!" Alex chuckled, still doing her makeup.

"I didn't realize makeup took this long." I said, making Christen, Ali, Allie, and Crystal laugh whole Ash and Tobin nodded in agreement.

"Welcome to dating women." Tobin said, clapping me on the back.

Alex glared at me playfully through the mirror. "Oh shut it you two. I'm done."

"Finally!" Pinoe cheered, climbing off her bed.

Everyone made their way down to the lobby, texting Becky that we were leaving before heading out, heading in a new direction than yesterday to explore.

"For the record." I started, falling into step with Alex in the back of the group, wishing I could hold her hand. "I may not understand it, but I respect the art of makeup, and I think you look so fucking beautiful both with it on, and without it on."

The forward smiled, a small, cute laugh leaving her lips. "Why thank you."

"You're welcome Princess."

We continued to talk while walking, making jokes with our friends, randomly dancing, and just having fun in general. It was a great way to distract myself and help tame my nerves before the big game tonight.

I was definitely nervous, but I also felt more confident than ever.
