《Have Hope》13

Y/N POV
So two weeks ago Alex and Servando made up, and now he's all she talks about. I'll admit, a piece of my heart breaks off and dies every time she mentions him, but I'm doing my best to be a good friend.
Since making up last month, we've been getting pretty close. Alex, Kelley, Tobs, Allie, Ali, Ash, Christen, Pinoe, and I hang out a lot which is fun. Alex and I don't really hang out alone too much though. I have a full blown school kid crush on the forward, which is terribly hard to hide from her. Literally everyone in our group except for the blue eyed woman knows about it, and they'll often tease me both when she's around and when she's not.
I've continued talking to my Aunt and my Mom pretty much everyday, but I talk about different things with them. With my Mom, it's updates about training and upcoming events with the team, and with my Aunt, all we talk about is what's going on with Alex.
She's convinced that Alex is in denial, but I'm not sure. The way she's been talking about her boyfriend lately....it makes me want to curl up and cry.
It's now February, which means our next friendly is in two months; in April. We've been working our asses off the past two weeks, preparing to take on Sam Kerr and the Aussie team. Scrimmages have been more intense than ever, filled with Alex and I's trash talk.
Although we're good friends now, our habit of teasing one another has not left, and I doubt it ever will. I'm just really hoping that the shorter woman cools it with all the Servando talk. I'm getting really tired of hearing about the two of them, and the team (save from Alex, obviously) knows it.
Everyday it's the same shit. "Serv and I talked on the phone for hours!" "I love him so much!" "He's promised to be more supportive of me."
Does she not realize that he's fucking with her. He doesn't give a shit about her, he probably just wants to stay with her because she's the face of US soccer. I've wanted to tell her to break up with him and save herself before shit hit's the fan so many times, but out of respect for her, I've kept my mouth shut.
Jill somehow knows literally everything that goes on around here. I swear to god that woman has super hearing. The other day, after our practice ended, I was the last one on the field, helping the trainers pick up the extra balls and cones, when Jill came up to help me.
"So how are things between you and Alex?"
At first I didn't think anything of it, assuming she just wanted to make sure we had gotten our shit together.

"Good, we haven't fought in at least two weeks. Why?"
"Nothing...special going on?"
I stood and faced her, slinging the large ball net over my shoulder. I narrowed my eyes at Jill's smirk. "What are you talking about?"
"So you don't like her then?"
I scoffed, but I couldn't stop my ears from burning. "Psh...No..t-thats...why would you think that?"
The coach laughed. "Oh come on Y/n, I'm not stupid. Everyone can see the way you look at her; like she's the most beautful thing you've ever seen. Everyone except for Alex sees, it at least."
I sighed, knowing it would be useless to deny. "Even if I do like her....I have no chance. She's....she's straight. And she's dating someone. Why would she ever like me?"
"Y/n, we have had quite a few people come in and out of this team over the past five years; since Alex joined. Not once has she ever reacted this way to anyone but you. We've had players even more cocky than you, and she didn't constantly fight with them. That girl picks her fights carefully, and trust me when I say that she deliberately picks them with you. Or picked them, now that you two have made up. She may not be fully aware of it, but she's picking you for a reason. She wants your attention."
I snorted, not really believing that. "But why? What's so special about me?"
"That's a question for Alex. Now go shower and change, we're leaving soon."
I handed Mark the ball bag and started off towards the locker room.
"Oh and Y/n?"
I turned to look back at Jill.
"Yeah?"
"Noodles are straight until they get wet."
I busted out laughing at her comment, and so did the other trainers. "Great advice."
So yeah, literally everyone knows about my crush on Alex, except for Alex and my Mom.
It was getting harder and harder to be around the older woman because of my feelings, and it made my heart hurt thinking just how much more fun I'd have if we were together. Being able to cuddle during the teams movie nights. Sitting next to her on the bus. All the things that come with being with somebody while also being their teammate.
We just finished dinner, and were preparing to have a game night in Ash and Tob's room. We have a day off tomorrow, so we have a later curfew. All our teammates were going to play, but none of us knew which game yet.
Knowing Ash and Tobin, they were probably going to pick truth or dare or some shit. The team has a rule that whenever we have game night, who ever is hosting it in their room gets to pick the game.

"Everyone go change into comfortable clothing, we're going to play for a while!" Ash announced as people left the dining hall.
Kelley and I quickly raced up to our room and changed. I went from ripped blue skinny jeans and a plain white shirt to some grey Nike joggers and my same white shirt. I pulled my Nike slides on over my socks and grabbed my phone, waiting for Kelley to finish in the bathroom.
We walked to Ash's room together, some of our other teammates walking behind us. It took at least ten minutes for everyone to get settled in because the room was so small, but we managed. We sat in a circled on the two beds, some people on them, some on the floor. I somehow ended up sandwiched between Alex and Crystal, and I knew my friends did that on purpose when I looked to Pinoe and saw her smirking at me.
I made sure to send her a death stare, but she acted like she didn't see me. "Okay everyone, welcome to game night with Tobs and Ash. Tonight, as some of you probably guessed, we will be playing....Truth or Dare!"
Almost everyone groaned, but Alex, Kelley, Pinoe, Sonnett, and Crystal cheered. "So, the rules are, there are no rules other than you MUST tell the truth for truth, and you MUST do the dare. The consequence for not doing a dare is you have to sing wrecking ball as loudly as you can in the hallway with the coaches rooms."
The first few rounds were more of everyone warming up, so the challenges weren't anything too bad. However, as the night went on, things got more and more intense. So far I had been dared to take off my shirt, bench press Rose, and do a handstand push up.
Most of the dares weren't dirty because a lot of the players had partners and whatnot that probably wouldn't be happy if they did seven minutes in heaven with one of their teammates.
"Y/n, truth or dare?" Emily asked, a mischievous glint in her eye. I haven't picked truth yet, and don't plan on doing it anytime soon. 1. because I'm not a pussy. And 2. knowing my teammates, they probably would ask me about my crush on Alex, and I was NOT prepared for the blue eyed woman to know about that.
"Dare, all the way bro." I smirked at her, showing no fear.
"I dare you...to watch a hot edit of yourself that we choose." I groaned. That sounded cringy.
"Do I have to? Is that even a thing?"
"Um yes! Have you not seen them floating around on Instagram? Some of them have over a million views." Kelley said matter of factly.
"Great." I grumbled. Sonnett and Kelley cackled with glee as they looked at videos on their phones, trying to find one for me to watch. Honestly, it seemed like kind of a stupid dare, but it beats telling a straight girl you like her.
"I found the best one!" Sonnett stood from her seat across the circle and walked over to me, handing me her phone.
"Wait, we want to see it!" Ash said, and then suddenly everyone was crowding behind us, wanting to watch the video. Alex and Crystal were sat beside me, the forward leaning just a little too close for comfort over my lap.
"You guys ready?" I asked reluctantly.
"Play it!" Pinoe said. I sighed, but pressed play.
"This is stupid." I said right away, seeing the video was a minute long. It was an edit of me to the song 'Stunnin' and it showed me making saves and I guess what people think are hot faces. It made me cringe so hard.
Towards the end, there were a few clips of me adjusting my jersey or my shorts, giving people a view of my abs.
"Daaaaamn!" Kelley whistled.
"I see why that mom hit on you." Ash commented.
"Yeah man, you're so hot!" Pinoe said.
I blushed. "Okay are you guys done?"
I caught Alex's eye, and she smirked at me, making me narrow my eyes at her. "Lex, truth or dare?" Now it was my turn to smirk.
"Truth." She said nervously. I gave her a sly smile, and asked a question I had been dying to know since we first became friends. Well, there were a few other pressing, more important questions, but I couldn't ask those.
"What was your first impression of me, in detail?" Alex giggled and thought for a moment.
"Um..... well I thought you were super cocky, ugh! When you winked at me I wanted to slap you! Uh....I thought you were really annoying and full of yourself....Ooh, I guess I should say like one good thing....Hmm....that's a hard one." I shot a playful glare at her, to which she responded with a grin.
"Oh! Even though you still are all of the things I just mentioned, you are a very funny person, and you always make me laugh."
A bunch of our friends 'awwd' while I did my best to hide my blush.
"Y/s/n forever!" Pinoe said, high fiving Ash. I glared daggers at her then glanced at Alex, who was laughing.
"Well, I guess I ask now, so.....Carlos! Truth or dare?"
