Before the interview was over, other people like Bethany, David and some other people were being witnessed of a crime, Detective Evans was the one interviewing David, and once Detective James had talked to Jacob before being sent to prison, I didn't know what to expect to happen next.
Until they were free to go home, and Detective James didn't have the nerve to believe Jacob. When Jacob asked me why I didn't believe him, I remember just telling myself that he could be the innocent one, but I didn't even stand up for Jacob.
I didn't even defend my own brother, not as hard as I should have. When I left the police station, to be sent back home. I lied in bed just thinking about Jacob being held in jail before the next thing was going to happen. I always wanted to go law school, to become a public attorney. It is my job to defend my clients, and to give them justice.
After I had graduated from law school, I wanted to go into the police academy and to study to become a homicide detective. I was always pretty much smart but I didn't think I would want to work in two jobs. I would make straight A's, from when I was a kindergartner until I graduated high school while in foster care at sixteen.
I got my pre law degree in criminal justice from North Dakota State University at nineteen. I graduated from law school in three years, and passed the bar exam on my first try after 40-50 hours of studying, which is a maximum of eight to ten weeks at twenty two years old.
Until I had a change of mind, I loved working as a lawyer, I did,
I loved my job so much.

It has always been a dream of mine to work in a career based on law. So as soon as I left law school, I went straight into the police academy. It was after I thought about not being able to work 2 jobs at once. But I just do what I want to do, to prove myself that I would do anything to become who I am, and just do it not only to think that I had to do it, but my heart was telling me that I should follow my dreams. I completed the police academy program in three to six months at just twenty three years of age.
I was surprised that I could take care of my baby brother and have to work in one job, while I am trying to become a detective. It's a lot of sweat and hard work, but I manage to push myself through and I have days where I am exhausted. Now that I am twenty six, I was a police officer before I officially became a homicide detective.
So I am a public attorney and a homicide detective at once. But then I changed my mind again, I decided to just work as an attorney, because I can always hire a private investigator to work on Jacob's case. So once I went back home, I started to search online for a private investigator. Until I came across this man who's name was Benjamin Kyle. Before I headed to bed, I sighed, taking out my cell phone, and dialed his phone number and until he didn't answer, I left him a voicemail.
"Yes, hi Benjamin, my name is Ryan Morgan, I am a public attorney who is wanting to see if we can work on a case together. I am sorry if it's late, but please give me a call at this number, (701)-529-6127, thank you and I will talk to you soon, bye bye."

Once I hung up, I had to do something to not see Jacob in jail. It breaks my heart, but then I still think he's innocent. I didn't tell Jacob I believed him, when really I did. So the next day I went back to the police station and I had to pay for a bail to release Jacob from jail.
*****
I had enough money to cover it. When one of the police officers walked up to Jacob's cell, he told Jacob that he's being released. Jacob couldn't believe it, he felt relieved.
So Jacob stood up from his seat, and walked out of the jail cell. He followed the police officer on his way out. I waited and waited, until Jacob saw me.
I just looked at him softly, smiling at him. Jacob sighed, and he sort of ran up to me and we hugged. Jacob hasn't eaten anything since his arrest. I asked Jacob if he wanted a hamburger or something. Jacob told me he would let me buy him something to eat. Until I pulled into this fast food restaurant and drove up to the drive thru.
There were like six cars ahead of me, and as we waited, Jacob and I just started chatting.
"You must have had a change of heart?" Jacob asked.
I sighed, just sitting in the driver's seat, and I just turned my head facing Jacob.
Jacob then knew I believed in him. Jacob was glad that I did. Jacob smiled, and he turned to face the window, and just thought back of something. He then had a flashback of our parents, and Jacob knew that I was the one who always believed in him.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
