Gia was behind a divider, pretending be an announcer for her own trapeze act, while Alex went up to listen.
"Ladies and gentlemen, presenting Gia, the trapeze-flying jaguar! And there she go. The triple-flip roll with a double leap, and..."she said until Alex fell through the paper, making her scream and demand, "What are you doing?!"
"That's just paper," he commented before getting up and chuckling nervously.
"Were you spying on me?" Gia asked.
"No! I just came by to say that I don't want you to think..." Alex started, fell, then continued as he got up, "I don't want you to think of me as some sort of authority figure."
But he ended up falling again while knocking over some hula hoops.
"Don't worry. I don't," Gia giggled slightly.
"You don't?" Alex wondered.
"Not at all," she repeated.
"Well, the other circus animals might find me a bit intimidating," he admitted.
"No. Nobody is intimidated at all by you," Gia assured.
"Oh, good stuff. Good. Good news," Alex replied.
"In fact, I do not think they have given you a second thought since you showed up," she continued.
"That's good to hear," he nodded, putting some hula hoops back.
"If anything, they're starting to feel sorry for you," Gia finished.
"Okay, I get it. Okay?" Alex responded.
After he dropped the hula hoop, they both bent down to pick it up, they bumped heads.
"Is there more?" she asked.
"I just wanted to thank you for letting us get on the train back there," he thanked.
Gia smiled at that.
"I know the big cat with the accent wasn't so excited about us getting on," Alex continued, mocking Vitaly a bit.

Then her smile disappeared. She then used the hula hoop to bring Alex close.
"Look, lion guy. This circus means everything to us. And if you do anything that threatens this circus, you will have to answer to me. Capisce?" she lightly threatened.
"I capisce, cool. Trust me, we're cool," Alex nodded, leaning against some rope.
Then the rope unfastened, sending him in the air before landing in Gia's arms. Then the divider fell down and the other animals stared at them. In response, Gia dropped Alex.
"Whoa," Y/N commented.
"You call this laying low?" Marty asked.
Meanwhile, as King Julien and Sonya were finishing their date, Dubois tried to go after them, but all it did was get her arrested.

Dirge
All things are. We once dreamed of a sky filled with possibilities. Of neverending knowledge. But those were conceited times, filled with quibbling. Now we look up and fear the vastness. We fear that there’s no edge to infinity. Humanity pulled itself together. Not like you’d expect, not like you’d approve of, but the results are spectacular. We call ourselves Utopians now, to make it simple for our kin in the cosmos. We’ve moved out into the Omniverse, to unlimited resources, and to dominance over the weak. Not for gain, but to the ends of permanence and peace. The cessation of their suffering. At the apex, looking down on those confined, those unenlightened, we felt safe. So few stand shoulder to shoulder with us. Fewer yet of them are so united as we. Porter, a godkiller for the Eidolons, is out of the job. Christopher, a Magus in the Guild, has him a new one, but with motives questionable. Kendall, a failing student at the Monastery, has to deal with secrets he never wanted. Anna, her entire life just fell apart, leaving her bereft. And Doran, he awakens. Each of these people, connected as members of the Omniversal Utopian Commonwealth, are helpless to the dark truth closing in. Not even the artificial intelligence, Aku, keeper of all Utopian power, can stop the Ouroboros. It’s not a new dawn. The light is dying. Hold your breath and go gently.

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream
Dying was unpleasant, but coming back to life? How was that even possible? And what are these words that keep appearing before me? This...isn't how life works. Maybe I'm insane. I guess it's time to find out. If I die, will I come back again? Thanks for reading! Please leave a rating or a review! Knowing people are enjoying the story really encourages me to write more. Also, I apologize for the typos. When I get the time, I'll go back and fix them, but they may linger at times. I don't have lots of time for writing, so I'm not always able to do much editing before posting.

Divine Progress
Progress is a dubious god. After failing him, three people are banished from modern times and sent to another world. Seemingly out of place, Christoph is snatched from his own time and plunged into a world of violence and magic with no deity to lend him support. Instead, Progress has seen fit to curse him with an eternal hunger for magical energy. Branded as a demon, he must fight for survival while battling the servants of the god who sent him there, struggling against the 'gift' that Progress bestowed upon him and the past he sought to abandon. Can he make his way across the lands and gather enough strength to survive without the blessings of the Divine? Or will the gods bend him to their will, breaking him if he seeks to resist? This is not a short story, and the plot will take many twists and turns before Christoph's journey comes to a close. After all, it is not the destination, but the Progress that matters in the end. Like many other stories on RoyalRoad, this is my first piece. Feedback is more than welcome, so please leave a reply if you have a comment or question.
