Y/N POV:
My parents are rich. Like crazy rich. Their money makes money, as mr banks from fresh prince once said. So of course they took the opportunity to put me in a private school where they can pay the teachers extra to help with my special mind. Or at least that's what my doctor says. Both my parents have protested but eh. What can I do? I've tried the medicines, the study techniques, I've done it all. But here I am.
Me myself? Im pretty social. I like people. Especially people that don't talk a lot, they're usually the kindest. And a bunch of new kids, supposedly siblings and cousins and whatnot have transferred. And a bunch of them hang out together at lunch... but one of them usually move away when people sit with him. So what do I do? I walk towards him of course. One of my friends stop me in my tracks though.
-Don't sit with him. There's a rumor he sat in juvie, she says.
-So what? I ask and shrug.
-He's a pick pocket! She whispers.
-So? He's just eating lunch, just because he got into trouble before doesn't mean that he's gonna rob me, I say and shrug them off and walk up to him.
-Hi! I smile at him. He looks up at me, confused as heck.
-Hi? He says.
-Is it cool if I sit here? I ask.
-Sure, he sighs and starts packing his stuff and I stop him.
-No I mean do you want company? I laugh. He sits back down.
-Um sure, he says. I smile again and sit down. I don't talk because I can feel that he's a bit uncomfortable. He mostly picks at his food as he watches me. So I finish my food before he does. When I'm done I stand up and grab my trash.
-Thank you for the company. See you around, I say and he just sends me a nod before I leave.
The next day:
I see that guy sit alone once again and I head for him.
-Hey. Me again. Would you mind if I..? I say and point to the table.
-No, it's a free country, he says. I once again smile as I sit down and start eating. When I notice him only pick at his food again, I stop and clear my voice.
-I never caught your name around school. I'm Y/N by the way, I introduce.
-Seth, he says.
-Oooo that a cool name, I like it, I compliment and go back to eating. I see him grin slightly before he continues to pick at his food and occasionally stare at me. When I'm done I once again say my goodbyes and leave.
Seth POV:
-Who is that? Haresh comes over to me.
-I don't know, I shrug.
-Then why do you keep talking to her? Harley asks.
-I've spoken like 3 words to her, I say annoyed.
-Do you have any classes together? Haresh asks.
-Yeah, she sits behind him in math class, Harley says.
-She does? I ask.
-Yeah. You haven't noticed? She asks.
-No, I say.
-Well she does. It's because you're the calmest and she has adhd so the teacher thinks your calmness in class will infect her or something, she says. I just shrug.
-Well I'm keeping my eyes on you two, Haresh says and they walk away. Well, roll in Harleys case. I then look over at Y/N, the girl who just keeps on talking to me... she's nice.
Y/N POV a week and a half later:
I've been sitting with Seth everyday for this past week and it's become a nice routine. But I've been sick these past two days and just came back. So I immediately make a route for Seth and the table we usually sit at. When I get there I just immediately sit down, I don't even ask. He looks shocked at me. I look at him with a waiting look.
-You we're gone, he just says.
-Yeah I was sick, sorry, I apologize.
-Hmmm... he just says. And I've gotten into a habit of starting to ramble about my day or week even. I spill all the tea and tell him way too much sometimes because he's now considered a friend of mine. And then I finally stop rambling to eat my food so it turns quiet.
-Why do you keep talking to me? Seth then asks out of nowhere and I look up at him with a shocked look.
-What do you mean? I ask.
-Well I'm not really the most talk active person. And I know you've heard rumors about me being trouble. Especially by that girl over there, he says and points behind me. I look behind me and I see my friends whisper amongst themselves. I turn back to him.
-Well... I don't trust "rumors". And you haven't stolen from me. Or been rude. So why would their words affect me? I ask. He looks taken aback.
-I... don't know, he says.
-Exactly. So what was I talking about before? Oh right, Rebecca and her curling iron, so.... I start rambling about a story again.
Seth POV:
It's been a few more weeks and after time has flew by, m and Y/N have been talking and hanging out a lot more. She's met me in the hallways, met a few of my cousins that go to our school. Talked a lot more. And I like it. She doesn't make me talk if I don't want me but if I want she's all ears. It's really nice.
-Y/N... I interrupt her talking.
-Hmmm? She asks.
-Are we friends? I ask.
-Duh of course. We've been friends for weeks? She says.
-We-we have? I ask.
-Yeah. Since the first time I rambled to you, we were friends. Get with the program, she jokes and I laugh.
-Hey! It's not often I hear you laugh! She says. I shrug jokingly.
-Hey Uh... you doing anything tomorrow? I ask.
-No it's Saturday, rest day, why? She asks.
-Well my uncle and my cousins have a breakfast restaurant. Do you wanna come by at lunch and chat? I ask.
-Ooo yeah! What restaurant is it? She asks.
-Bakers breakfast, I say.
-Oh! My dad loves that place and takes me there one Sunday every month, she says.
-Well that's great, I work there, I say.
-You do? Oh that's awesome! She says. Suddenly there's a honk outside and we look there on instinct.
-Let's go Y/N! We have a family movie night to get to! Y/N's dad shouts.
-Coming dad! She waves.
-Well then I'll see you tomorrow, she says.
-Yeah... I say.
-Can I give you a hug? She asks.
-Y-yeah, I stammer. She smiles and gives me a quick side hug before running to her dads car and driving away. She waves at me as they drive around and I wave back. Then I feel myself blush.
-Hey man, I saw that, Haresh walks up to me.
-What do you mean? I ask.
-She likes you dude, he says.
No she doesn't, I scoff.
-Yes she does, he laughs.
-She even asked for a hug, he says.
-That's what people do, I excuse as we walk towards the carpool lane.
-You're going on a date tomorrow, he points out as we see Zoey and the bus.
-It's not a date, I say as we get into the bus.
-What is not a date? Zoey asks.
-Seth started talking to a girl in his year, Haresh explains and I roll my eyes but smile as I think about her.
-And they're having lunch at the restaurant, he continues.
-Ooooo sounds pretty much like a date Seth, Zoey says.
-Well it's not. We're friends, I say, trying to push them out of my personal life.
-Okay Seth, no worries I won't ask anymore, Zoey says as we move on home.
The next day;
I'm actually quite nervous. I don't know why, like I had said a million times this isn't a date... so I've said at least. Was I only telling myself this? Do I like her? I've only know her for a bit over a month... two months maybe...
Suddenly there's a plunge in the door and I look up. I've been doing it all morning, just to see if it as Y/N. And this time it was.
-Hey Y/N! Welcome in, I got just the booth for you! Haresh tells her and winks. I roll my eyes before I clock out.
-Woah hey, lunch? My uncle asks.
-Yeah my... friend is here, I say as I start reach behind my neck to have the apron hang from my hips only.
-Who? Her? He asks and points at Y/N. I nod.
-Oh. She's... pretty, he says impressed.
-Oh Paul! Zoey walks by but stops.
-It's NOT a date, she emphasizes to him.
-Ah, ok gotcha, he winks at me.
-Please Paul don't embarrass me in front of my friend, I say.
-No, absolutely not. Should I send Harash instead? He asks jokingly.
-Please don't, I roll my eyes and he laughs. I then go to join Y/N at the booth.
-Eh, hi, I say, drying my sweaty hands on my apron. She looks up at me and smiles, just like she always does. I gulp.
-Hi Seth! I like the apron, she says and I sit down.
-Huh? I ask confused.
-Orange suits you, she just says.
-Thank you, I say and she nods.
-So uh, you ready to order? I ask.
-I just got the menu Seth, she says and waves the menu.
-Ah right, sorry, I say sheepishly and blush. She giggles.
Y/N POV:
Me and Seth enjoyed a nice lunch. And to be frank, I am liking this guy. He's really sweet, he's funny and caring. He's really sweet. And at this moment we've been sitting here for a couple of hours...
-Ao yeah my uncle is kinda rich. What about your parents? He asks.
-Oh yeah they're rich, I say.
-Really? He asks.
-Totally loaded, I nod.
-Oh wow, he says.
-Yeah. What about your parents? I ask. His small smile disappears and I furrow my brows.
-I don't know my dad... And uh. My mom is in rehab, he says.
-I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have asked, I immediately apologize.
-No it's ok, he says and smiles sadly.
-Are you sure? I should've asked first, I say embarrassed.
-It's ok, I promise... he says.
It turns quiet. But not in an uncomfortable way. We just sit there.
-How come you haven't been called back to work? I ask.
-I don't know, he says and we look towards the cash register. Half his family is staring at us and when they see us that immediately look comically interested in other things. I start laughing.
-I'm so sorry, I told them this wasn't a date, he says embarrassed.
-No? Not a date? I say teasingly and blush embarrassingly much.
-Uhmmmm no? We didn't... specify what this was and I just assumed we- I am joking with you, I cut him off laughing.
-Although I wouldn't be completely appalled if we did, ya know... go on a date, I say and take my napkin and start picking with it.
-Y-you wouldn't? He asks. I shake my head.
-No, not at all, I say.
-Well, um... let me just check my work schedule and then maybe I can... Maybe I can find something for us to do, he says and laughs airily. I look at him in shock.
-You'd do that? I ask.
-Yeah, he says and stands up and heads back to his uncle. They talk for a while. I see Seth nervously run his hands through his hair before he walks back over.
-I have Saturday in two weeks off, he says.
-Really? I say and stand up, grabbing my stuff.
-Yeah, he says and smiles.
-Well then I will be the cook. We can go to my place and I'll make something for you, I say.
-Sounds... amazing, he says.
-Thanks... for today. It's been great, I say and hug him. And he actually hugs back. I blush furiously and when I pull away I see his cheeks turn red too.
-Well... see you Monday, I say as I slowly exit the restaurant, saying bye to the baker family on my way out. I wave to Seth through the window one last time. He waves back and it's the last thing I see as I walk past the restaurant.
A couple of months later:
I'm just chilling in my bed. I know that one of Seth's cousins had his birthday party today and he was at home grounded because he taught Haresh to hit someone. Which is pretty badass but I get it. They were bullies so they should've seen it coming. Anyways... me and Seth have been dating. We've been on a few dates but we've been off with meeting the whole family. He's met my dad a few times and I meet his cousins that go to our school pretty much everyday but that's about it. He's kinda scared and wants to keep me away but I can respect that. And he didn't want to become official yet either, I don't know why actually. But I want to ask next week at school because I would really like us to become a thing.
But suddenly I get a message from Harley.
"Seth ran from home and we're going looking for him! Can you come to our address ASAP?" And then she sent her address. Oh shit.
"He ran away!? Why!?" I text back.
"We accused him of stealing and he got upset and I feel super bad" she says.
"Well you should" I write angrily.
"I know, but we're looking!" She writes back and sends a sorry emoji.
-Dad, can you drive me to Seth's house? I ask as I run downstairs.
-Why? He asks worriedly as I sound panicked.
-He ran away and Hayley wants me to go to their house, I say.
-Sure, let's go, he says and grabs his keys before we run out and get into the car.
-Are you sure you don't want me to stay? Dad asks as he drops me off at the Bakers' mansion.
-Yes, I'll call if I need to, I say. He gives me a thumbs up as he drives away. I start pacing on their driveway. My heartbeat is all over the place as I think of all the things that could happen. I almost start crying, but I decide that I need to calm down so I sit down on the stair porch and wait. And wait... suddenly I see the Bakers big bus. I stand up as they drive into the driveway. The first person walking outside is Seth and I let out a big breath of relief as he sees me.
-Y/N? He asks and runs towards me.
I walk towards him and give him a big hug.
-Don't you ever do that again! I protest and lightly shove him.
-Ow! He laughs. Then I hug him again. He hugs back and I can finally breathe out.
-Sooo Seth... are you going to introduce us? I hear a voice say. We let go and I see his whole family stand there. The little kids are giggling... well, all of them are. Paul, Seth's uncle, and his wife are just grinning from ear to ear. I heat up in my face and I carefully dry the small tears that almost escaped my eyes.
-Hi, I say and wave.
-Hi! The whole family answers.
-This is Y/N, Seth says and I look up at him.
-She's... he starts and then he puts his arm around me.
-She's my girlfriend, he says confidently and I stare at him in shock.
-I'm sorry what? I ask in disbelief.
-You're my girlfriend now, he says. He usually isn't this bold. But I like it.
-This is new, I say.
-I have wanted to ask since forever, he says.
-I like that you're bold like this, I say.
-Well then I'll be bolder more often, he says and I smile and jump up to hug him. I hear his whole family awe at us.
-Even he managed to get a girlfriend! On my birthday? What is this!?
